War broke out in heaven;
Michael and his angels battled against the dragon.
The dragon and its angels fought back,
but they did not prevail
and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
The huge dragon, the ancient serpent,
who is called the Devil and Satan,
who deceived the whole world,
was thrown down to earth,
and its angels were thrown down with it.
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
“Now have salvation and power come,
and the Kingdom of our God
and the authority of his Anointed.
For the accuser of our brothers is cast out,
who accuses them before our God day and night.
They conquered him by the Blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
love for life did not deter them from death.
Therefore, rejoice, you heavens,
and you who dwell in them.” Rev 12:7-12
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him,
“Here is a true child of Israel.
There is no duplicity in him.”
Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.”
Nathanael answered him,
“Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Do you believe
because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree?
You will see greater things than this.”
And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you,
you will see heaven opened
and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” JN 1:47-51
“Saint Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into Hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl throughout the world, seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”
Exactly 33 years to the day prior to the great Miracle of the Sun in Fatima, that is, on October 13, 1884, Pope Leo XIII had a remarkable vision. When the aged Pontiff had finished celebrating Mass in his private Vatican Chapel, attended by a few Cardinals and members of the Vatican staff, he suddenly stopped at the foot of the altar. He stood there for about 10 minutes, as if in a trance, his face ashen white. Then, going immediately from the Chapel to his office, he composed the above prayer to St. Michael, with instructions it be said after all Low Masses everywhere.

Do angels exist? Jesus said they will be ascending and descending on the Son of Man. The book of revelation speaks of the battle of St. Michael and the Devil. At Mass, when heaven and earth clash we join the angels to praise and glorify God during the Sanctus (Holy, Holy, Holy). Yes, they do exist and we each have our own guardian angel. The angel of God prayer is not just for young children to pray but adults too.
We are fighting Satan a fallen angel who is very intelligent and deceitful. We must know the enemy like an opponent in sports, how to beat him, and know where he is at. He is constantly in our thoughts trying to persuade us from God. When we think God is trying to take away our fun, it’s the devil. When we think negative thoughts about ourselves and others, it is the devil in our thoughts. Whenever we rationalize our sin and don’t think it is that bad, it is the devil in our thoughts. When we think God or the Mass is boring, it is the devil in our head.
Don’t allow the power of the cross to die in your mind. Battle Satan with the St. Michael prayer, God’s grace in the sacraments, constant prayer, and continually talk to Jesus and allow Him to get to know you personally. We must do these things daily to win the battle versus Satan. Below I added my notes after reading C.S. Lewis’s “Screwtape Letters” on characteristics of the Devil. We must educate ourselves on the opponent of our soul reaching heaven.
Today’s challenge: Start reflecting on times when your thoughts have been against God. Next time it happens be ready to say the St. Michael prayer. Continue to say the Angel of God and ask the angels in heaven to protect you from Satan. Ask Mary to wrap you in her mantle and St. Joseph his cloak each day to keep Satan away from you and your family. Ask St. Joseph to protect you and your family from Satan. Storm heaven, the Devil is relentless!
Be a servant, become a saint!

Characteristics of the Devil in the book “Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis
Other books I have read that helped me understand the schemes of the Devil are “Ordinary Lives Extraordinary Mission” by John R. Wood, “Searching for and Maintaining Peace” by Fr. Jacques Philippe, and Peter Kreeft’s “Heaven: the Heart’s Greatest Longing”.
- The devil wants us to “do” without thinking or reasoning
- He doesn’t want us to know the difference between real and not real or reality (Truth- what is or reality)
- The devil wants to distract us from thinking.
- He likes us to compare ourselves to others, especially other Christians. Looking at others’ sins so we can keep ourselves above them.
- He wants to keep us blind to our blind spots. The things we bury with our ego that are weaknesses everyone can see in us right away.
- Parrot talk when we are praying.
- Prayer without our will and intelligence
- Devil is best at not putting things into our mind, but keeping things out.
- While praying, the devil will try to take our gaze off God and onto ourselves. Keeping us watching our own minds and trying to produce feelings there by the action of our will.
- The devil will try to keep our minds on a sacramental object instead of the Person we are praying to.
- The devil does not want us to see our present fear as our appointed cross, but only the thing we are afraid of
- The devil does not for the most part want us to believe he is real.
- The devil wants to tempt us most with lust, drugs, bodily pleasures when we are tired, sad, or lonely. He does not want us to see the good in our bodily pleasures God gave us when we use them for His intended purposes.
- “An ever increasing craving for an ever diminishing pleasure is the formula”. “To get the man’s soul and give him nothing in return”.
- Keep knowledge out of our minds.
- The devil wants us to lose interest in our religion/faith. He wants us to think our faith is just a phase in our life and “we’ve been through it all”. He wants us to think it is a phase from our Adolescence.
- The devil wants us to make friends with those who will influence our minds away from faith/religion.
- He wants our faith to be in direct opposition to new friends who we enjoy and want to be friends with.
- He wants us to turn into the thing we are pretending to be. He wants us to live two parallel lives. Act one way for a set of people and another way for another set of people, but never be our true self especially when it comes to living out our faith.
- He wants us to do nothing at all for long periods or stay up late at night doing nothing important. “I now see I spent most of my life in doing neither what I ought nor what I liked”-a soul entering hell
- “The safest road to hell is the gradual one-the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turns, without milestones, without signposts.” It doesn’t matter what sin takes us their, murder or cards whichever does the trick”
- He doesn’t want us to read books we enjoy or give us knowledge. He doesn’t want us to go on walks, enjoy nature, or sit and think in silence. These all can lead us to reality and healthy pleasure.
- The devil wants us to do nothing with new repentance. He does not want us to act and repeat actions that build virtue.
- The devil does not want us to be humble. He wants us to think we are humble so it turns to pride. True humility is giving up our wills for God’s will and others. The devil wants us to think humility is not self-forgetfullness but a low opinion of our talents and gifts from God or thinking our gifts are less valuable than God knows they are.
- The devil wants us to value an opinion for a quality other than truth.
- He wants to keep our minds endlessly revolving onto themselves in an effort to achieve the impossible.
- The devil wants to live in tortured fear or stupid confidence. He wants us to keep our mind off eternity and the Present. The Present is where time meets eternity. He wants us to focus on the future, the unrealities, fear, avarice, lust, and ambition.
- He does not want us to be happy.
- “Nothing matters at all except the tendency of a given state of mind, in given circumstances, to move a particular patient (us) at a particular moment nearer to God or the devil.”
- A tract of time which he reckoned on having at his own disposal unexpectedly taken from him. He wants us to think we own time and own our bodies. Both are gifts meant to be given away and given out of self-love, controlled to be used for the benefit of God and others.
- He wants us to think we own God or control Him. He wants us to think “mine”.
- In the end we will not possess time, soul, or body God made it and truly owns it and the devil is trying to destroy or gain it. (a grounds for conquest)
- He hates music and silence. He loves noise.
- He wants humans to think something is right, not because it is true but for some other reason.
- God has balanced a love of change with a love of permanence and by this union of change and permanence, He has created rhythm. The Devil wants to persuade us to think of the philosophy of the “same old thing” losing this rhythm of life.
jesus is allwas withe us dring are hard times and sufring with us and lesing to us
This scripture reflection is telling us that the devil wants to keep us from God. We should pray to strengthen our relationship with God and Jesus.
What spoke out to me in this scripture was that there was a serpent and a dragon fighting against them and yet they did not give up. We should be light them, when times get tough we just have to keep pushing through and ask God for guidance. We don’t suffer alone, we suffer with Jesus.
In this reading, it talks about the war against heaven and hell. St. Michael his angels fight with Satan and his angels. This tells us that we must fight both in the physical world against evil and in the spiritual world. In today’s Gospel, Jesus wants us to believe in him before He does something miraculous. Jesus said,”Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree?”
What reached out to me was, “Blood of the Lamb”. What this means to me is that Jesus didn’t have to suffer and die for us. Jesus went out of his way to show us the proper way to live and because he did this he was crucified for us.
In Scripture we are reminded that we have guardians: our guardian angels, our parents, our teachers, friends, and God. We always have people there for us and supporting us. Someone always has our back. Even though we might feel alone, we are never alone. We always have someone there for us.
The Devil is constantly trying to control our hearts and turn us away from God, every single second. That means that we must always stay by God’s side, not the our temptations get the best of us, and we must always, ALWAYS, be living a life striving towards God’s goodness and mercy.
The scripture is telling us that Satan wants us and he wants us not to be with God so we don’t go to heaven. He wants us to be in agony in hell and wants our souls so he can torture us but, God loves us so much that he will do anything in his power to have us in heaven with him.
What I think this is saying is that we need to fight the devil. It is also saying it is going to take more that just saying a few prayers throughout your day. You’re going to have to go that extra mile so we can take down the devil. He is going to try to tempt us but we have to be strong and not let him take us over.
This was telling me that if I say no to Jesus I will become more like Satan an angel that wanted all the power for himself. He fought but he lost, but he still tries to trick us into things that separated us from the Father more than we already are. We need to fight Satan and we can do that if we trust Jesus is by our side. Because we all truly know that if Jesus is there and we follow Him the devil has no chance of getting us.
In today’s reading “Therefore, rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them.” stuck out to me because to me its as if God rewarded the angles in a way because of them fighting for there faith and doing the right thing. Which something every single on of us can do as well. We can all fight for are faith and help convert others to find God in some situations that people cant find him them selves. and are reward is Heaven- eternal life with God.
Today the Gospel talked about how the St. Michael pray came to life. how it came to life was really cool a priest in 1800’s saw the devil in the back of his church and then he wrote the pray in the middle of mass. Some people said that the priest turned white and could not move and just stared at it. The Gospel also talks about how Nathanael saw Jesus under the fig tree.
Today’s scripture passage is very thoughtful and very meaningful. The main message I got from this is that the devil is BAD. The devil is trying to win and ruin our lives. We have to fight the devil in our day to day lives. He is distracting us and pulling us away from our savior and redeemer. He is trying to fill our lives with the bad not good. He is trying to make us suffer, God heals. He is trying to make us think we aren’t good enough, God says we are enough. He is trying to make us feel alone, God makes us feel included. All there really is to say is we as a whole need to keep fighting and not let the devil overturn us.
The devil is always trying to lead us astray. Trying to keep us away from God in Heaven. We have to ignore him, beat him, and strive to be better than him. Satan wanted power for himself, that’s why he waged war on the world and Heaven. God is always trying to keep us safe but he can’t do it all. We have to turn our back on the devil and face everything towards God.
A time we all are against God is when we sin against him, but to make sure that we may stay with him we have to be going to confession and praying for forgiveness from him. The best part is he will forgive you. You have to ask for it though.
The devil wants us to fall into his trap and sin against God. He is constantly tempting us and trying to draw us away from God. We have to stay strong in our faith. We have to pray and give ourselves up for others. God wants us to join Him in heaven. When we sin against Him we are saying that we don’t want His love. By staying strong in our faith and giving ourselves up, we say that we want to be with Him.
I really like the stories of the archangels fighting against the wickedness and snares of the devil. I believe that he should never fall for the lies of the devil and always go for the way to heaven.
In this scripture passage today it is saying that the devil always wants to tempt us to do bad things and our Savior Jesus Christ is pulling us up with Him and we need to listen to Him and he knows who we are before we are born and know what happens in our life.
the thing that stuck out to me was the part about st michael the archangel because he is my confirmation saint and when i read about his part i felt spiritualy closer to him.
That we should always put us a good fight against sin and that God is always with us through the bad and the good times of our lives
God will always be there and St. Micheal will always be there to defend us from the wicked one and keep us holy you just have to have some faith. We must stay strong to protect ourselves from evil and do what is good with our free will.
Satan (the devil) is constantly trying to pull us away from God it is not a good thing to let be doing that it leads us farther away from him than we are at the moment.
Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.” That phrase just stuck out to me. It shows me that Jesus is the son of God, our father, and everything we need. He will always be there for us.
The devil is always trying to turn us away from God but we shouldn’t listen to him and his lies.Sometimes it almost always feels bad to sin and sometimes we don’t even know that we’re doing it. We need to completely turn away from the devil and turn to God so we can devote our lives to him.
It is telling us that the devil is trying to take us away from God. Continue to say the Angel of God and ask the angels in heaven to protect you from Satan.
It tells us that the devil wants us but he dosen’t actually love us he just dosen’t want us to be with God in heaven. That’s why we need to stay strong in our faith and npot to be shown week towards the devil.
Jesus is always there fighting with us against the devil. But we often forget about our guardian angel and st. Michael. They are always fighting with us against the devil, and we always need to be defending ourselves from the devil.
All the devil wants to do is turn us away from God. He will do anything in his power to lead us to hell. We need to pray to God and St. Michael to help us fight the devil. God will help us if we ask.
I think its trying to say that their is a war in us versus the good and the bad. Trying to tell us to do bad to think about the bad of others . And also the good telling us to come and follow God and don’t think of others below you don’t think of yourselves as better then others and give yourself completely to God.
In this scripture that stuck out to me was that satan thought that he could become God and other angles believed satan. Not all of them believed in satan but some of them did. In a way I think that that kind of shows humanity that people turn their backs away from God and don’t have faith in him. We need to receive God fully and grow in a relationship with him.
Satan wants us to fall away from God instead of standing with him, like all the bad thoughts we have about God,and others or,
having bad thoughts about yourself,or blaming others, that’s all Satan in our heads.Satan is the one who is making us think that mass and adoration are boring, because he doesn’t want us to be with god he wants us to follow him,be with him, help him with his missions, etc.
War broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back,
but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The huge dragon, the ancient serpent,
who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it.
I find this interesting because you never really here about fights in heaven you just here about the saints.
Today is the feast day of St. Michael the ArchAngel, St Gabriel the ArchAngel, and St. Raphael the ArchAngel. I love it when it’s the feast day of a saint I know because I can say “Hey I know that saint.” My favorite ArchAngel out of these 3 is probably Gabriel because he was the one who came to Mary to ask her if she would be the mother of Jesus our Savior. As you might know that’s a pretty crucial part of the Christmas season. I mean heck we wouldn’t even have Christmas if it weren’t for Gabriel. I just love the Angels because they’re kind of mysterious and I like mysterious stuff like that. Now I know where the St Michael the ArchAngel prayer is based on. These Bible verses right here “Michael and his angels battled against the dragon.
The dragon and its angels fought back,
but they did not prevail
and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.
The huge dragon, the ancient serpent,
who is called the Devil and Satan,
who deceived the whole world,
was thrown down to earth,
and it’s angels were thrown down with it.”
That’s why in the prayer it says “St Michael the ArchAngel defend us in battle against the wicked snares of the Devil.”
The devil wants us to fall into his trap. And try to make us sin against God. He is always trying to temped us to go away from God and follow him. When we sin against God it’s saying that we don’t care for him.
i think this is a good way of saying God will always prevail. no matter the strength, speed, agility, and abilities. this passage depicted satan as a dragon. in most fairy tales the dragon is evil, usually keeping the princess in the tallest tower on the highest floor. despite the knights’ best effort they were all defeated this shows people that you can’t battle the dragon (satan) without his help.
What stuck out to me was that we need to forget the the devils even there think that the only persons for us is the holy trinity no the devil he wants us to think that its ok to sin its not he wants us to hate ourselves its not ok to think that or about others ethir you need to only think about the good in every thing try and be competitive about giving the most compliments. We need to get people up when there down is stad of thinking of the bad like ” ugh she sad again. She sucks at that.” no don’t say that you need to say something like ” You got this keep trying your doing so good wow that was the beast one yet good job your gonna get it this time!” something on the line of that instead of putting them down which is what the devil wants! DON’T DO IT KEEP THEM UP NOT DOWN!
We should never fall for the lies of the devil were just going on the wrong path of Hevan.
The one that stuck out the most to me was number 9 where the devil tries to stray your attention from God while praying. He tries to make pay attention to ourselves instead of God
This part really stuck out to me I’m not really sure why but I liked this part of the reading. It kinda shows how strong the Angles are and that we will always be safe and guarded by them.
“Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back,
but they did not prevail”
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
I think what God is trying to say, is that we should not fall into temptation by the devil and we should look up to God if we need help to not fall into that temptation.
put god first and pray how st.micheal did and how his prayer turned in to real life because of his passion for god and prayers and his effort with the relationship with him. if we put god first we will be rewarded.
Although the devil is powerful, prayer is even more powerful and when you feel tempted to do something you can pray and it will help send the devil out of your mind
That Pope Leo XIII had a remarkable vision.
What stuck out to me is that the devil wants humans to think something is right, not because it is true but for some other reason. This stuck out to me because sometimes I wish I could be a different person but that”s not the truth or i feel like i’m not good enough which is also not true and lots of other reasons.
“Don’t allow the power of the cross to die in your mind. ” This stuck out to me quite a bit. It stuck out to me because if we let the power of the cross die in our mind it is letting the devil in. The power of the cross comes from Jesus dying on the the cross that saved us.
For the accuser of our brothers is cast out,who accuses them before our God day and night. They conquered him by the Blood of the and by the word of their testimony love for life did not deter them from death. Therefore, rejoice, you heavens, and you who dwell in them”. This part stuck out because even if you love life you still are gonna die and so during so rejoice at death because if you were good during life you are gonna go to Heaven.
What Jesus was pointing out to me was that through everything that was going on by Jesus he still saw Nathanael. That to me means that through everything that goes on in the world and everything like that Jesus still notices you and knows where you are every second of your life. He never says wait where did she go He ALWAYS knows where you are spiritual physical and emotionally. He is always their for you to have a meal or simply sitting and talking.
satan is a fallen angel who is intelligent and dispictful he can get into your mind and turn you into someone you don’t want to be.
he can get into your feeling your soul whatever it takes to bring you down with him and saying the st michael prayer you fight against the demons that try to take you.
“Here is a true child of Israel. There is no duplicity in him.” This was the one thing that stuck out to me. I really like this because it tells us that there was no one like him, there are no duplicates. He is the only one. The devil wants us to value an opinion for a quality other than truth. This all so stuck out to me because it’s saying that the devil wants us to value opinions over the real truth, like if someone says God isn’t real that is an opinion not a fact or the truth. God is very real and he loves each and every one of us and our uniqueness.
The Devil wants to distract us from thinking and wants to keep knowledge out of our minds.
The devil wants us to fall into his trap and turn away from God, he is always trying to tempt us to turn away from Him, but we have to say strong, meaning that we have to pray, go to mass, and give ourselves up to him.
After reading this scripture I started thinking about how we all need to remember that Satan is trying to hurt us. Satan is trying to steer us away from God and towards evil. The Devil will always be trying to lead us in the wrong direction, and he is trying to pull us down into hell. But the more we pray the closer we will be to God and the more we will realize what the devil is trying to do to us. We always have to stop at nothing when it gets hard in life and just pray.
I feel like its telling me that the devil wants us to hate God, think we own him, think only about ourselves, not pray, and not worship God or Jesus ever. Jesus dosnt say what we have to do like the devil. Jesus gives us a chose but always gives us a way to see him in everything. The devil hides himself from everyone but is there, trying to lead you to hell with him. Jesus shows himself fully to use and never hides himself ever and always trys to come and get you back on track with him forever in heaven.
The devil wants to trick us into falling away from God. Praying, talking to Jesus, Going to mass can help with our relationship with God to keep us from being pulled away from out faith.
I think that today’s scripture passage is trying to tell us that the devil is trying to distract us from God and take us away from Him. We need to fight off the temptations and keep following Jesus.
I believe that this is saying to be careful of what we believe when we hear something, because it may not be Jesus, but the devil. We need to be watchful of the devil, to be sure that the things we believe are told to us from Jesus, not satan.
What this is telling me is that the devil is always trying to pull us away from God and tempts us to not make good choices. But we have to fight against him trying to pull us away because we know what is right and we must never let anything or anyone take us away from God.
the devil is always trying to break into heaven and for us thats our hearts and the devil is always trying to break us and get us to sin. but we have to conquere him with “The blood of the Lamb” which means we need jesus to help us defeat the devil in our own fight.
The devil is trying to keep us from scoring. But we want to score for God, and God wants us to score for Him. We need God and His love to keep us from the devil’s empty promises and his wrath. God wants us to be with him in Heaven so we can be truly happy.
The devil wants us to believe that what God says is not true, but it is. The devil will go far to bring us down but we should go farther and choose God. The devil was cast out of heaven and will try and bring you down with him, don’t look down at him look up at God.
the angels fight against the devil is symbolic of the fight we go through every day with the devil. God and the saints are aiding us in our battle we just need to use some of their grace.
I think this scripture means that God will always prevail over Satan. We can do the same by choosing good over evil. The second scripture means that we should always have trust in Jesus. Even if we do not think its for the best we need to have faith that its for the better.
the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, who deceived the whole world, was thrown down to earth, and its angels were thrown down with it. god is the light and the truth. the devil is full of darkness and deception. if you follow god you will live in eternal light. if you follow the devil Lucifer you will be pulled to a pit of darkness and you will be alone forever and the devil will torches you for the rest of eternity. you could be with god for eternity and you will be truly happy with life. it is up to you to decide heaven or hell.
The devil is tricky. He is always trying to get us to sin and he succeeds but God always forgives us even though we sin. God will always help us through tricky times and He will always be there for you.
This gospel talked about how not to fall for the devils tricks. The devil is a horrible thing and he will try try everything in his power to try to pull you away from Jesus. That ´ s why we are encouraged to pray so much so the devil will never try to pull you away from Jesus again.
We need to fight the devil. We need to fight the devil and we need to be competitive to beat him just like in sports. When you’re playing a sport you want to beat the other team and win the game. The devil wants to take over you and control you but you have to compete with him and you have to win that battle. We can ask for St. Micheal’s help to defeat the devil because he fought the devil and won. We need to win the battle with the devil.
I think this gospel is saying that the devil is trying to capture us in the little traps he put in front of us everyday. He will do everything in his power to try to pull us away from God. We have to have strength and faith that God will reach His hand out to us and take us into Heaven. We can’t do this without praying or going to mass.
What stuck out to me was There is no duplicity in him. This means that we only have one God and we should not worship anyone else.
Someone is always there to protect us. Family, friends,Angels,Guardian Angels. We all have someone there to protect from the Devil and everything else in the world. Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The huge dragon, the ancient serpent,
who is called the Devil and Satan. If we keep listening to the Devil there is no place for us in Heaven. For the accuser of our brothers is cast out,who accuses them before our God day and night.
We are in constant battle with the devil. But we can stay strong with the Holy Spirit. Jesus came into the world to conquer death and satin, He did this for us so that we can reach heaven. We should always remember that when we are struggling with sin or fear or anger or whatever, Jesus is there at our sides. we must reach out to him even if the devil tells us not to. Jesus is always with us but so is the devil constantly trying to grab our attention, especially at our age because we are trying to figure out who we are. Stay strong with Christ.
One part in this scripture is when Nathaniel said, “Rabbi you are the son of God, you are the King of Israel. Because it is him realizing it is Jesus.
“Do you believe.” Once I read that I couldn’t stop repeating it in my head. Do you believe in Jesus Christ who died for you and who created us and everything. Sometimes people don’t know that answer; like me. I do believe in Him but sometimes my mind just thinks it’s fake but I’m learning and knowing that He’s never fake. It took me a while to realize that. When I was little I personally never knew Him; i wasn’t baptized until I was four or five. Now I know Jesus is here and He’ll listen and answer my prayers.
What I always find interesting is that we see the Devil as a red man with horns and a tail or some sort of goat-like creature. But he is mostly described as some sort of long, serpant-like reptile.
What I got out of this was we need to not fall into the devil. We are all still sinners no matter what, but we can have a relationship with God and have our sins forgiven. We can have that love that never ends. Because we are all God’s children, and he just wants the best for us.
This scripture is talking about how we need to fight the devil and we shouldn´t, like we should go to confession more and try to be more holy and not look at bad stuff or do the bad stuff because everyday of our life we are fighting the devil and he is watching us 24/7 and Jesus doesn´t want that he wants us to be sin free.
God says in this scripture
Now have salvation and power come,
and the Kingdom of our God
and the authority of his Anointed.
For the accuser of our brothers is cast out,
who accuses them before our God day and night.
I think everyone needs to realise that God knows what you are doing at all times, It’s almost like no one knows that in the way they act and pay no attention to God and the main thing we should pay attention to.
This means that when we die we might go to heaven with God.
The devil wants to do without thinking. He wants us to fall into his trap and fall away from God. The devil is very tricky and it is hard not to fall into what he wants us to do, but we have to stay strong in our faith and love God. We have to grow in our faith and every time we sin it sets us back. Nobody is perfect and we all will sin but we have to learn from out mistakes and focus on God.
The devil is always trying to break into heaven and for us that is our hearts and the devil is always trying to break us and get us to sin. but we have to conquer him with “The blood of the Lamb” which means we need Jesus to help us defeat the devil in our own fight.
I think today’s gospel is reminding us that we need to put God first. He is and should always be the most important thing to us.
“War broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in heaven.” War broke out in heaven. It’s kind of like when Jesus was in the garden. Jesus was trying to fight the devil. It’s also kind of like us. When we get tempted we are trying to fight away the sin.
“War broke out in heaven, Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail” The devil has already tried to take over heaven, and he lost. Think about all of the angels that are on our side. Know that God is on our side. He has won already, and he will not ever lose. Remember this, and when you are in temptation, know that all the angels and the saints are fighting with you.
The Scripture is saying the devil is trying to lead us away from God. The devil is trying hard to tear us away from God. That is what temptation is. When we are tempted to sin that is the devil trying to speak to us. When we are tempted we have to make a choice. We can either follow the devil or we can follow God. If we follow the devil we will not get to meet the Lord. If we follow God we will get to reach Heaven and have eternal happiness and peace.
I think the scripture is telling us that we need to believe in the steps God and Jesus have paved for us and try to be aware of the devil trying to either take His word from us or make us compare ourselves to others and many other things. We will all be welcomed into God’s house as long as we follow and listen to His and Jesus’s word.
A part that stuck out to me was where it said “The huge dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan,”. The ancient serpent is a reference to the serpent in The Garden of Eden that tempted Adam and Eve. This ties into the traits of the devil at the bottom of the text. It says “The devil wants us to lose interest in our religion/faith.” on number 16. This both represents when the devil wanted to lead Adam and Eve away from God. It’s also like this today. We have to be strong and fight the devil.
“The devil does not for the most part want us to believe he is real.” This part stuck out to me because of how true it is. He doesn’t want us to know that he’s trying to creep into our mind. He doesn’t want us to know that he’s trying to make us sin.
It is saying that we should try to not listen to our demons like putting something before God and showing us that no matter what we do for God, He isn’t paying attention to us but we have many people in our lives like God, Jesus, and our parents to help us not try to follow the foot steps that demons want us to take. We need to try to listen to God and hear what He has to say to us. We need to find our way to God not electronics or anything that you might put before God.
The devil is smart. He’s brilliant. He is manipulative. And he wants control over you.
The good news? Jesus and the angels (including your own personal guardian angel!) WILL protect you and help guide you.
Think of it as you walking through a corn maze blindfolded. The devil is the noise you hear as you’re going through. It’s hard right now. But then, Jesus comes and tells you when to turn so you can reach the end, reach him. It’s still not easy. It’s hard to hear Jesus tell you his commands, but if you follow them, you reach the end successfully.
We have to trust God and not give into temptation. We have to know what the devil will do. We have to win the good fight.
The scripture is telling us don’t fall to the devil. Remember, the devil can be tricky. If we do fall to the devil, we will regret it.
“Michael and his angels battled against the dragon.
The dragon and its angels fought back,
but they did not prevail” Satin will fight to get you but you will always win if you stay with God
We all need to know who the devil is because we need to know how to fight him and how to get away from temptation.
Jesus knows you better than you know yourself. We are to follow Jesus and resist the devil.
While praying, the devil will try to take our gaze off God and onto ourselves. Keeping us watching our own minds and trying to produce feelings there by the action of our will.WE need to turn the devil as far away from us as we can so we are closer to God.
i feel like this means to try not to fight and always do good in life.
I think God is telling us to try to be like Michael and fight the devil and ignore him and all of his angels and demons. God wants us to realize when He is talking to us and when it isn’t him and it’s the devil.
Today the scripture is telling me that the devil wants to take us away from God, he wants us to do without thinking. The devil wants to make us stop praising God when God loves us so much. the devil wants us to not be able to tell the difference between the real and not real. God loves us and if we follow him he will lead us away from the devil. When we follow God we will not care what others think and just love him.
“War broke out in heaven.” This is what stuck out to me because even in Heaven there was a war. There have been many wars, but there was no greater one than the war in Heaven. Satan had a choice to be an angel or to be evil. He wanted all the power like God and he chose evil. He was jealous of God. Do not be jealous because jealousy is not holy. We need to be ourselves don’t be someone else. God loves you for who you are not who someone else is.
Humbly submit your will to God and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph. We are fighting Satan a fallen angel who is very intelligent and deceitful. We must know the enemy like an opponent in sports, how to beat him, and know where he is at. We must do these things daily to win the battle versus Satan.
Before Satan was the devil he was an angel, he was a very powerful Angel. He was jealous of God/Jesus. So he left him and went into a big war with himself and God/Jesus
In this we learned that the devil thought he was better than God. In some ways humans do that too. When we are in mass and you think about what’s for lunch or how you look today. Even if we don’t mean to when you don’t listen to God we are saying that we are better than God and that he doesn’t deserve our time. But when you sit in silence and listen I mean really listen God will listen and talk to you. He loves us and that’s all I need to say.
The devil is everywhere. God is everywhere. The devil invades us, with, or without our permission. God is more powerful than anything and evrything, but does not come into our lives unless we invite him in! He does not barge in to fight for us. He wants to. But we need to outwardly chose him, and call upon him to help us fight. We have to try too. We can not just let him do all of the work.
What stuck out to me was when Jesus said do you believe to Nathaniel this stuck out to me because it’s like asking us do we believe in him or do we not.
What i think is that the devil traps us in his path down to hell so that he can have are soul because God wants are soul so we can be with him and that the devil loves it when we compare are selves to others.
We are fighting Satan a fallen angel who is very intelligent and deceitful. We must know the enemy like an opponent in sports, how to beat him, and know where he is at. He wants us to feel empty and compare ourselves to others. The devil wants us to do nothing but entertain ourselves to death he wants everyone to think we are right. But that’s simply not the truth. God created us in our own image but the devil tries to keep us from God as much as he can everyday.
So you have to Listen to God and resist temptation.
The devil wants to tempt us into being his slaves and to not love God
We are fighting Satan a fallen angel who is very intelligent and deceitful. We must know the enemy like an opponent in sports, how to beat him, and know where he is at. Satan tries to tempt us every day and wants us to step away from God. He tries to make us feel like God doesn’t love us or try to convince us he isn’t real. But that’s not true God created us in our own image and we have to resist the devil everyday of our lives and go to mass so we can have eternal life in heaven.
We should pray to St. Micheal more and start thinking twice before you do something you will regret. Also again we need to pray more to St. Micheal. We must put aside loud noises for silence to pray and listen to God.
Jesus promises us many things just like he promised Nathaniel. Jesus promised Nathanial Heaven. Jesus also promised us heaven if we follow in His path. Jesus says that the kingdom of heaven is ours if we realize Jesus is THE God. We cannot expect God to promise us heaven if we live our lives just hurting Him. We have to earn it, and Jesus told us that. Follow Jesus’ requests and get eternal life.
We can’t earn it, it is a free gift, we can only decide how much or little of the gift we accept by bringing ourselves to Him (prayer, sacraments, Scripture).
I think that this means we should try to know the difference between God and satan. If we think God is telling us something, it could be the devil, and we could be tempted to sin. There is a fine line between God and humans because God is perfect, whereas humans are far from it.
I think that this means that we need to know the difference between God and satan. If satan is telling us something, but we think it is God, we can be tempted to sin.
Angels are very real. They aren’t a made up fairy tale. They were made to praise God for eternity. They are also here to help guide us to heaven. We all have our own guardian angel. Angels know that the devil is always trying to tempt us. No matter the amount of rosaries we pray or how many days we go to church Satan will always find a way to tempt us. He knows our weaknesses and he knows how easy it is for us to stray away from God. If we let our angels guide us to Jesus, it will become more difficult for Satan to tempt us and more easier for us to simply say “No.”
What I’m getting from this is that if we believe in God a lot of wonderful things will happen to us. Believing in God is an amazing thing and He will always be there for you and will never leave you alone. You will always have Him by your side for when ever you need Him. There will be time when you bought if its real or not but it is. And it happens to a lot of people.
The devil is the worst in life it haunts you and kills your love in everything the angel tries to guide you away but sometimes cannot help you in everything you do because the devil is there next to you taunting you.
