Humbly submit your will to God (thy will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Jesus appointed seventy-two other disciples
whom he sent ahead of him in pairs
to every town and place he intended to visit.
He said to them,
“The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so ask the master of the harvest
to send out laborers for his harvest.
Go on your way;
behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.
Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals;
and greet no one along the way.
Into whatever house you enter, first say,
‘Peace to this household.’
If a peaceful person lives there,
your peace will rest on him;
but if not, it will return to you.
Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment.
Do not move about from one house to another.
Whatever town you enter and they welcome you,
eat what is set before you,
cure the sick in it and say to them,
‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’
Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you,
go out into the streets and say,
‘The dust of your town that clings to our feet,
even that we shake off against you.’
Yet know this: the Kingdom of God is at hand.
I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom on that day than for that town.” Lk 10:1-12
Today, Jesus is asking us to pray for our Pope, bishops, priests, religious brothers and sisters, and catechists (don’t forget this includes parents the first educator of God to children). He is asking us to ask God (the master of the harvest) to send laborers for the harvest. If we do not have priests, we cannot get to heaven, plain and simple. We cannot be baptized to have our original sin taken away, we cannot receive the Catholic ER (Eucharist and Reconciliation) when we fail to keep the commandments. We cannot be consecrated in our vocations of priesthood and marriage or given our last rites before death. We are so blessed in our diocese of Wichita with many vocations, but we can always have more. Many dioceses are suffering in the U.S. and priests are few with many pilgrims to serve. These men and women “carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals” and stay faithful to Christ their whole life. What a great model of love for us! Some spend their whole life in a convent praying for us! Amazing!
Second, Jesus is telling us that some will accept His message and some will not, but we must not become disheartened. Keep living and teaching Jesus, it brings persecution and joy, the reward is eternal life!
Today’s challenge: Pray for our Pope, bishop, priests, seminarians, and religious!
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
We need to be thankful for our priests otherwise we cant get to heaven which destroys the whole purpose of life because our main goal is to get to heaven.
the people that are kind and peaceful they will be rewarded with the kingdom of God but the ones that are rude and do not think about others will not go to Heaven
I can apply this to my life by being good to everybody and showing them the Holy Spirit.
i think the seventy-two are like our teachers coaches and parents ican apply it to my life by helping others learn the truth of christ
We can put this into our life by listening to the seventy-two (which is the priest and you) and putting what they said to us into our lives and giving others the advice.
I can apply this passage by giving up things that I don’t need, like it says “Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals;
and greet no one along the way.”.
Leave everything behind you when you follow Jesus and God and don’t look behind you at anything that you might be missing in life because God and Jesus are everything you should ever need and everything you should ever want.
Jesus is calling us to go out and preach his word to others who do not believe.
I can imply this in my life by spreading the word of God and praying day going to church every Sunday.
If I trust fully in God to give me everything I need to live a happy and healthy life, I will sin less and strengthen my relationship with God.
I can reflect on this by praying for others and care for one another.
I can apply this to my life by making more sacrifices and giving more things up. Also when I have to do something I don’t want to do I can do it for God.
this passage tells me that i should listen to god, and whatever happens with me listening to him is what God knows is best for me
to do what God tells us to do and to come back to the lord and serve him more and to preach about him to all the people. God also says some people will understand the message some will not keep living and teaching Jesus.
I can apply this to my life by being grateful for what God gave me. To not take anything for granted.
I can apply this to my life by praying for family, friends, and those in need. And by listening to God’s call and respond to it instead of ignoring it.
This passage’s message is that you don’t need anything to follow God. You just need you. No fancy necklaces, no Gucci sandals, nothing.
In Heaven, you won’t have any of it there anyways, so why not live without it?
All ways accept what is given to you even if you have no value for it
We need to focus on God only and not on our own life if we want to let God or Jesus live our lives for us then we need to let go of everything else in our life and not look back just focus on them.
I can apply this to my life by knowing God will welcome us and provide for us. We don’t need material things, only God’s grace.
I can put this in my life by listening to the 72 disciples (you and the priest) and can help others with the advice you give. We have to understand our mistakes to try and help with ourselves and others.
We can put this into our lives by not focusing on friends money reputation they are all meaningless focus less on your future your career just serve Christ not necessarily in the religious life but if you get married you must raise your kids catholic SERVE CHRIST spread his word Take NO money games material objects they are nothing they will soon mean nothing they will not help you they will not make you happy ”
If your eye causes you to sin pluck it out” If your phone causes you to sin get rid of it “if your arm causes you to sin cut it off” if your material “goods” cause you to sin burn them give them away -Max Petersen
I think the 72 people are the people around me.
This Gospel passage reminds me of the gospel of Matthew, “Therefore I tell you… is not life more than the food we eat, the body we have, and the clothing we where? Look, the birds of the sky do not sow or reap, they do not stockpile grain in barns, but their heavenly Father feeds them.”(Mat 6:25) IF ONLY OUR LIFE WERE LIKE THE BIRDS!!! If only we could touch heaven like the birds touch the sky!!! If only we could sing our voices to God immediately when we wake up!!! But sadly we can’t, we stay stuck to the things that we have on our Earth. WHY???!!! I DON’T GET IT!!! WHY DO I DO THIS!!!!?…
I can apply this to my life by doing extra chores around the house or community.
We need to spread the word of Jesus.
I can apply this to my life by being like one of the 72 and submit my self to Gods word even though I may not like it
God is telling us that we need to help others and respect them
we should always be nice and give to others
We can apply this to our lives by being fully alive in the mass and listening to what you and father tell us, and what the saints tell us through the scripture
those who welcome God will have peace in there lives, and those who don’t will be in anguish
I can use this scripture in my life by remembering that as long as you have Jesus with you, you will be safe and need nothing.
We should take nothing for granted and we should always follow God even if we don’t think that it is the best thing to do, God knows what is best.
We can leave everything behind and follow Jesus and preach about his word.
I can apply this to my life by accepting what god provides and also providing for others who need it more that I do
We can apply this to our lives by spreading God’s peace to all the world. We need to be grateful for what we are offered by others.
Also we need to accept and believe in the gospel and Christ as well as helping other to believe.
I can apply this to my life by praying for all religious. God will welcome everyone to Heaven and praying can get us up to Heaven.
God is made of and he is always looking to love so if we let him we will all be loving each other get everyone to Heaven.
This passage is telling us that we should be praying for our priests, bishops, religious, etc. and we should be more thankful for them. Without them we wouldn’t have the Mass or any of the sacraments. We wouldn’t know the important information to achieve our goal of reaching Heaven. I can apply this to my life by praying for our priests and religious more and being more thankful for them.
Those that are peacefull will enter the kingdom of God.
I can apply this by being nice to all the people in my life and thankful for the Priest’s
This reminds me that I do not need material things, all I need is the Eucharist and God’s grace.
I can apply this to my life by being welcoming to people.
That we should always believe in our lord. We can follow Jesus by listening to what he said.
you need nothing but god to survive.
you need nothing but god and the Eucharist in your life.
It is telling us that we do not need material objects and we should pray for priests and religious and we should be thankful for them.
I can apply this to my life by taking what is offered to me and not being greedy. Praying to God if I need help doing that.
We need to appreciate and serve our authorities and not take granted for what we have, by doing so we can grow a close relationship with Christ himself. Those who don’t appreciate others will be to blinded by rudeness they won’t see the true kingdom of God.
I think today Jesus is telling us that we need to be kind to everyone. Also that we need to pray for everyone and especially for all of our priests, teachers, and our parents. We need to make sure that we are treating everyone as we want to be treated.
I think this reading is telling me is that I need to not be selfish. I need to think of others first before myself. Sometimes I think about myself a lot and I need to realize this.
what this means is that we need to be thankful for what we have.
Today he is saying that we don’t need any material items but we do need God
What God is trying to tell me today through scripture is that when we want to come and follow him we shouldn’t get distracted by everything else.
That’s my brother everyone.. I love him…
What I think the scripture is saying today is that er must set down all that er have, and go out and preach. We also mustn’t ask for more than we are given. We must be grateful for what we receive, and stop asking for more, because we already have everything we need, God.
i can apply this to my life and by praying for the nuns and for my vocation. I should pray more to get closer to God in heaven
If you do Gods will you will be rewarded. If you are kind and respectful of others you will be granted Eternal life. When you are disrespectful and uncaring you won’t receive eternal life.
I can apply this to my life by being kind to others and listening to God and the gospel.
The passage today was about the labor that we owe for God . He has done so much for us and we owe him so much , but we also don’t because he doesn’t want us to do anything. Except for go to church and believe in him.
This passage tells us that even if we have nothing that God will accept us. The people went away and Jesus told them to ask people if they will let them in. Like God, he will let us in like a peaceful people will let in someone who has nothing and give us food. In that way God will let us in and fed us with the truth and light of him.
When God reaches out to us we should trust Him and if we do He will have mercy on us and treat us with great love in heaven. Just like the people gave back to the apostles we need to give back to God and show our thanks to Him. If we don’t we will be rejected and forgotten just like the people who didn’t treat the apostles with love.
We must be humble and peaceful in order to make it to Heaven. Jesus will forgive us when we make mistakes. We have to think humbly of ourselves and realize that we are capable of making mistakes and only Christ is perfect. We have to think of others before we think of ourselves.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that God is always there for me and by knowing what he provides for me and gives me everyday.
We have to realize that we are weary travelers and God is our destination of happiness. Doing other things like video games and sports is like stopping for a rest, it may make us happy for a little while but it is just a detour on our way to true happiness with God in Heaven.
I think this reading is telling me to be selfless and to help others because we are all selfish sometimes.
We need to give back to God for all he has done for us. He has given us so much and the least we can do is to do what he says and try our best not to sin. It also tells us that God is always accepting for anyone even if they have nothing. We need to trust in Him.
Jesus is telling us that we need to treat everyone with kindness. We need to treat everyone as we want to treated and think of others before ourselves.
I can apply this to my life by being humble and helping others. Showing kindness to someone is important because you never know what they are going through.
Jesus says that if someone is kind to you, be kind to them, and if someone is not kind to you, don’t waste your time on them.
Jesus is telling us to pray. Not to pray like any other day, but to pray for people. Like our family. Pray and spread the good news.
We should be grateful for our priests and other religious because without them we can’t get to heaven. Something good to do is to invite a priest over to dinner to show your appreciation and hospitality. We don’t need money or anything like that to convert people to Catholicism, just faith in God.
Jesus is telling me to evangelize. He is also telling me to give up things.
We need to do more labor. We always have to be asked to do work instead of doing it when we know it must be done.
Jesus us telling me to always trust him even when I have nothing at all. He is also telling me to go around and be happy and be kind to others.
If you have little you have a greater chance to go to Heaven. You don’t really need money. Money is just a little piece of paper that we pretend matters. Humanity is very good at pretending that things make up who we are. We don’t need things like money and rooms full of treasure. So then why do we cling to the idea of wealth?
The scripture tells us today that even if we have nothing, God will accept us as we are. He will not ask for something big, or anything extravagant. He just wants us to love him, and follow him, and He will accept us as we are, and make us truly happy, forever, not just happy for a little while.
I can apply this to my life by serving God in everything I do. If everything I do is in accordance with His will, I’ll be able to get to Heaven.
We need to always be thankful to others and for the things that we are given.
This Scripture passage reminds me that we came not to do whatever we want, but to be missionaries, to worship God. When we worship God we might be persecuted for it for “being different” and standing out from the crowd, but as long as we put our trust in God and love him above all, we shall see him in Heaven.
We need to pray for everyone in the religious community. Whether that be Sisters, Brothers, Priests or the Pope.
God is telling us that sacrificing things will have a bigger, better reward in the end. I can apply this into my life by helping others and being humble. Sacrificing my time for God. We might get a call to be married, pursue a career, become a saint, and a priest or sister. We need to answer his call because he knows the best for us in the future, and we should always pray.
We all have so many people that are rooting for us in life that is is crazy! Like our parents, teachers, priests, family, siblings, and so many other people. They all want us to get to Heaven, especially God because he created us, we are his sons and daughters and he wants to see us all again. If so many people are wanting and helping us be our best self and helping us get to Heaven than why are we not doing this for other people? Oh right, we only care about ourselves most of the time! There are so many good caring people in our lives and why wouldn’t we do that for them to? Our goal should be to help everyone around us grow as a person and hopefully get to Heaven and if we do that for someone else they will do that for you and you guys can grow together. Which brings me to another question. Why do we break each other down if we are supposed to build each other up? Like Father said at one of his masses, Christ is in each and everyone of us. So why do we put each other down? because in reality we are putting down Christ in that one person. If we live in those around us and Jesus and we let others live in us, we are on the right track to Heaven, but we all know it isn’t that easy.
God is big and we are small. If we leave everything behind and follow him we will have great joy. If we believe in him and do what he wishes for us to do, we will join out true Father in Heaven forever.
If we do not have priests, we cannot get to heaven, plain and simple. Some people spend there whole life in a convent praying for us. Just be thankful and do not be needy. Do not wine. Be thankful for what God has blessed you with and use your talents to the best of your ability and don’t wine about your talents either.
Give everything up to the lord, because he is the the almighty and most powerful we need to connect with God in many ways
What I feel this is saying to me is a need nothing to love God.
We need to listen to God and not care about what others think of us. We need to follow God not to fall into the devils traps, but to listen to Gods call. We need to be missionaries of Christ. Without Him we are nothing and have nothing. We need to be obedient towards God, heaven is real and we should strive to see the beauty of it.
We all should take consideration of all the extra people we have in our lives. We have priests, administrators, coaches, parents and all kinds of volunteers. We wouldn’t know how to play a sport, make a certain type of food or even know how to pray and have a personal relationship with God. The 72 people in our lives matter teachers work hard all day just so we can have knowledge. Coaches volunteer so you can have fun and learn to play a certain sport. These people are very important in our lives. The world’s teachers is Jesus Christ, he is our teacher and coach and he wants us to learn how to appreciate him and love him.
I can apply this to my life by believing in Jesus and being humble. Also, I can show kindness to others by helping them.
This Scripture passage is telling us that we need to be thoughtful for priests, religious, sisters, brothers, parents, etc. because they are the people that teaches us about God (especially parents). Priests help us to be holier and get to heaven and we are Jesus’ creation, so we should be able to see our Creator. In conclusion, we need to follow the way of God and the way that He wants us to do on Earth, and be grateful for the priests and religious.
I think Jesus is telling us that the path to heaven isn’t going to be easy. We won’t have material items in heaven so we don’t need them. Don’t focus on money and meaningless objects when our life could end at anytime and we need to be ready for Jesus when he come. We also need to help others on are path to Christ.
This shows us that those who do not choose Jesus are choosing Hell. He has given us all a chance, but if we do not take it is in our rejection, that he will suffer. We need to choose Him, for we know Him.
This is telling me that I need to pray for everyone that welcomes me into their lives. I need to start welcoming people into my lives and stop judging people because they’re different, because in reality we are all different.
In order to become a true follower of christ is to leave everything and love god with all of your body
That we should preach the word of God. Also we need be thankful for what we have because there are people in this world that have nothing as we complain for what we don’t have for what we “want”
I think what God is trying to tell us is that he doesn’t want us to be afraid of who we are. He doesn’t want to be the dishearted followers. We can’t be the ones to fall away from the church. We should be should of who we are and what we do in life. We can’t be the people to fall away and get ride of the church. We need to stand strong and don’t regret or 2nd think of leaving the Church.
We don’t need anything besides God. I don’t get why i feel like i need a tv, money, or anything else. All I need is God. I need and want to belive and spend times with him but it’s hard. I have many people trying to lead me to Heaven and that want me to be like Mary.
We have to spread the word of God to everyone. We have to show others how to act like Christ also.
God wants us to follow him and know that we are his creation and that hes big and we cant do anything without him.
God wants us to work for him so he can work great things in us. If we do this, God will be pleased and we will get to heaven.
I can apply this to my life by respecting people who deserve the respect. I should also preach the Word of God as often as I can
We need to accept god and believe in god and help others believe in him too.
I can sacrifice things that are not in need and share the word of God
This gospel is talking about how there are very few people actually going out and bringing the good news to everyone. We should appreciate those who do teach us about Jesus. Jesus is also inviting us to go out ourselves and help people turn to God. We should not be greedy and ask for more than what is given to us.
I can apply this to my life by trying to keep my house a peaceful place.
The Gospel today is saying that if we don’t have role models like priest, bishops, parents we have a very low risk of making it to heaven because me need these people to help us grow closer and closer to faith. Just like Jesus died for our sins so we one day can become a saint and follow the way Jesus did throughout his life.
The thing that I take away from the scripture today is that God will always provide for you. He will always have a plan for you, even if you are the lowliest and have nothing, he will care for you and provide things for you. Just like the seventy two disciples brought nothing with them, yet they were provided for as Jesus provides for us.
We need to pray for our priest, bishop, Pope and future Priests.
I think we need to not be attached as much to our items and stuff like that so when Jesus calls us we can be ready to follow him and listen to him.
you should accept what is given and not complain if none is given
The passage is telling us to be thankful for our Priests, Bishops, Pope, and all other Religious. Jesus is telling us to leave behind everything and follow him. He is everything we ever need. I can apply this to my life by making things like money, electronics, and popularity lower then my relationship with God.
In this passage, I think it means that if we put ourselves into the scripture, Jesus would really be testing our faith and obedience to him because it isn’t every day that you have to drop everything you have and know and love to go where he tells you to go. That isn’t always easy for us to do but if we do do it, God will guide us in the right direction to do his will.
I can apply this to my life by trusting that God will provide. Jesus said, “ Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals.” That tells me that those aren’t necessary for be to bring for they shall be provided along with food and drink. I can also trust that God will lead me to where I need to be whether he is leading me towards my vocation, or to my home.
I can apply this to my life by being the person who welcomed them and be kind to others. I can also be grateful and appreciate of what I have because I am truly blessed.
The Gospel is saying we must be kind to those who are kind to us and to those who aren’t. The ones who aren’t will pay. Those who work for what they have deserve it. I can apply this to my life by trying to be kind even when it is hard and putting forth my best effort at all times.
Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him;
but if not, it will return to you.’ I really liked that saying! (I think) It is telling me to welcome God and others into my heart. I know that I should keep being nice to others even though they are never nice back, but I know that God will be with me the whole way through.
This teaches us that we need to be nice everyone and treat them with love.
God desires our prayers, so his priests, Bishops, and religious brothers and sisters can strive to bring about the good news and be united in heaven
By aplying this to my life i know i need to not be commited on the material things. I need to reflect on Gods words and teachings. The only one who can save us is God we need to follow God and believe him to get to heaven.
Today I think god is telling us that people will not be faithful to him but we need to stay faithful to him and pray.
Those that are peacful will find their way into the kingdom of god
My objective today is to be humble. I will (attempt to!) not think of myself first, but others and how I can help them. I will also try to put myself at the feet of Christ. I will pray for all of the religious in our Diocese, as well as every teacher.
I need to care about one anther not just me.
