Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Some people told Jesus about the Galileans
whose blood Pilate had mingled with the blood of their sacrifices.
He said to them in reply,
“Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!
Or those eighteen people who were killed
when the tower at Siloam fell on them–
do you think they were more guilty
than everyone else who lived in Jerusalem?
By no means!
But I tell you, if you do not repent,
you will all perish as they did!”
And he told them this parable:
“There once was a person who had a fig tree planted in his orchard, and when he came in search of fruit on it but found none, he said to the gardener,
‘For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree but have found none.
So cut it down.
Why should it exhaust the soil?’
He said to him in reply,
‘Sir, leave it for this year also,
and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it;
it may bear fruit in the future.
If not you can cut it down.’” Lk 13:1-9
Jesus teaches us two things today. First, stop judging someone by their sin. All sin hurts our relationship with God, but often we get caught up in the whoppers and forget about all of the little sins that may be hurting our relationships (Thanks, Fr. Josh). God forgives all sins, but we must repent (metanoia). Repentance is changing the way we think, doing whatever is necessary to fight the devil and our fallen human nature with God’s grace and therefore growing in holiness. It is giving up our life so Christ can transform it. At Baptism, our life is no longer our own. Christ claims us. No more sitting on the fence (Jesus teaches us there is no fence, “we are either with Him or against Him” “We either gather with Him or scatter”).
When we decide to actually repent (Let Jesus into our boat; submit our will to Him) we will find ourselves being tested by God to see how faithful we really are (He will command us). We will find ourselves fighting harder against sin through a stronger prayer life, a greater desire for the Eucharist and Mass, daily rosary, and looking in our daily life for ways to put others before ourselves, a servant.
Another lesson Jesus teaches us today that God is patient with us. He continues to love and forgive us waiting for us to return to Him with open arms. This is why Jesus’ arms are open on the cross, He thirsts for our souls and died to have a personal relationship with us. We, too, must be patient with ourselves and others as God is for us. He knows the intention of our hearts. Open up and allow Him to love you.
Today’s challenge: Repent (change your thinking to heavenly things) and be patient.
Be a servant, become a saint!

If we don’t repent to God then we will burn in hell like the others in there but, if we do then we will have eternal life and happiness with God
I think that this Gospel reading is trying to tell us how everyone has their own cross and however big of a cross they have to carry, does not coincide with how much of a sinner they are. In the time of Jesus, people thought that the blind and deaf people were like that because they were sinners, or their parents were, but in reality, that was just the cross that God gave to them, and they have to overcome it. Everybody has a cross that they have to bear but that just means that everybody is dealing with the same hardships as you are. So, we should go out and try to help other people out with their crosses as well as our own ones.
Today’s Gospel Jesus make a good point about judging people. Sometimes we are very quick to judge and we think that they are bad people based on one thing we saw them do. I think that we can learn to not be so quick about deciding our opinions on someone we haven’t even got to know.
If we are not sorry for our sins and submit ourselves to God, we will surely suffer in the afterlife because of the sin on our souls.
The phrase that stuck out to me was “Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were greater sinners than all other Galileans?” Jesus is saying that we can’t judge people just because of their situation. Jesus also tells us today that we have to repent, recognize our brokenness and strive for a better relationship with God. Both of these things are very hard to do especially when it comes to our faith. I can apply this gospel to my life by remembering what Jesus told us and controlling my thoughts as best I can.
You should offer you sins to god so that you may be closer to him. If you suffer more you may have not sinned more but you are willing to do more for God.
You should offer you sins to god so that you may be closer to him. If you suffer more you may have not sinned more but you are willing to do more for God.
What the scripture is telling me is that we need to give things time. Or make something a certain way so it works. It kind of relates to Jesus’ second coming I think.
In the parable Jesus told, the gardener said, “He said to him in reply, ‘Sir, leave it for this year also, and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it; it may bear fruit in the future.” That is what God is doing with us. If we are having trouble with prayer in our lives and need help, sometimes God will adjust something in our life that will get us closer to Him and help us with praying in the future. That is why you need to trust Him.
Today’s scripture reflection tells us many different meanings. I think the main meaning the scripture is trying to tell us is that we shouldn’t judge people, but especially when it comes to judging them by their sin. We should not be judging anyone because we are human and mistakes, there is not a single person who hasn’t sinned and you have to learn that because it’s reality. We can’t think poorly of a sinner because we sin all the time. Would you want everyone to know your mistakes? It really just comes down to knowing that everyone makes mistakes and it’s rude to point it out when you do the same thing.
I think the Scripture is saying we have to repent after we sin. We have to be truly sorry for God to forgive our sins. We can not just go to confession because we know God will automatically forgive us. We have to go to confession and truly repent. When we are truly sorry God will know.
God tells us to stop judging each other by their sin. We all sin and we know that God will forgive us. But of we sin and it affects someone them they are going to judge us and make fun of you because of it.
I think the scripture is saying that even with repentance and suffering greater than others doesn’t mean that there has been more sinning among another person different to us. It just means they have suffered more greatly than us.
I think today’s scripture passage is trying to tell us that we need to stop judging people and learn how to forgive people for things they have done. We also need to learn to be sorry for our sins, and if we are truly sorry, God will forgive us.
The Gospel says today that we need to repent. Jesus said that we need to repent or we will end up as the those eighteen people who were killed when the tower at Siloam. We need to repent because Jesus did not have to die for our sins we could just be living here sinning and have know one to save us.
Today, I don’t really know what Jesus is telling us, and that’s ok, because sometimes his parables and stories are confusing.
Jesus patiently waits on us to come to Him. We are all sinners. Why should we, as sinners, condemn sinner? The answer is simple: we shouldn’t. That’s up to Jesus. We must repent and bare fruit. The fig tree sat for three years, exhausting the soil. That could be us. We could be sitting there sinning and not repenting. But if taken care of by Jesus, we may too bare fruit.
Everyone has a past of their own, and not every one is clean. Because of this, we have no right to judge others for sins we have done, for they are no more guilty than us. We also shouldn’t give up on hope so easily. That is represented in the fig tree.
God won’t judge you for what you did if you repent. If you don’t repent then you will be judged.
In today’s scripture Jesus tells us we need to repent because He will becoming back to earth soon and we need to be ready for Him.
We are all sinners and God understands that. He loves us no matter how much we sin, because we are His creation.
“‘Sir, leave it for this year also, and I shall cultivate the ground around it and fertilize it; it may bear fruit in the future. If not you can cut it down.’” Jesus uses this parable to teach us that though we have fallen away, he will continue sending things to help us and will stay by our side. Though he will do this, we make our own choices and we decide our actions decide our eternal fate.
Today’s scripture reflects on how we all sin and can’t be a hypocrite about it. Another is God is loving and patient with us. We want to repent in forgiveness so we won’t have that invisible mark of sin on our soul. Repenting more will lead us closer to God while also helping to heal our tattered and damaged soul. Some of us may not have much of a beaten soul but either way we should recognize that Jesus saved us from our sins because He loves us and wants us to repent so we can grow closer to Him.
We are all sinners. Someone may commit more of a serious sin, but we are all still sinners. We have to go to God either way. We have to repent, we need to realize that we have sinned and we need to confess it.
I think in today’s gospel we are being told that just because something happens to a person, or they die it doesn’t mean they were cursed or that God struck them down, it just means that something happened. Just because someone is not perfect or something bad happened to them, doesn’t mean you can judge them, we are also sinners and judgment is for God alone. “let the one of you who is without sin cast the first stone.”
If we don’t repent we will parish, so we should repent and go to confesion then we will parish.
The fog tree in the parable has not produced fruit for 3 years but the gardener want to try one more year in case the fig tree does produce. The fig tree is like our spiritual life. We may not have been very successful or active catholic for a long try. This does not matter though. You can always repent and deepen your relationship with Christ. Jesus loves you just as much if you are a sinner or a saint. Never give up.
I think this scripture is telling us that God has patience but we have to be willing to change. God will help us get to Heaven if we give our whole life up for him and build a personal relationship.
Sins don’t define who you are as a person. It is only God’s place to judge us, not the people’s around us. What defines you is if you repent or not. If you sin knowingly and you aren’t sorry for it, you are different than the person who sins and repents. The one who repents will have the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus tells us that we need to stop judging other people. We all son and have our brokenness. We are all human. We make mistakes. We need to stop judging others people and start worrying about ourselves. We need to repent.
This means that you must always repent.
This scripture is saying that we need to repent from our sins.
This passage is telling us to repent from our sins and stop judging others. There is no such thing as a sin too great or too many sins for God to conquer. Jesus may come back at any time. This could be today, tomorrow or in 1,000 years. Nevertheless, we don’t wanna be caught with a lot of sin if Jesus comes in our lifetime.
I think the Scripture is saying we have to repent after we sin. We have to be truly sorry for God to forgive our sins. We can not just go to confession because we know God will automatically forgive us. We have to go to confession and truly repent. When we are truly sorry God will know
I think this means that even when we consider ourselves Holy, and think that the terrible things that happen to others happen because they renounced God, we ourselves are in danger. We need to understand that what happens, happens, and we can’t do anything to control it, but we can control ourselves, and that’s what we need to focus on.
in this scripture it talk about how we are all the same. we should not think we are better than others
What I got out of this Gospel is that everyone in the world was born with Original Sin which means all of US sin. Sometimes we just need to reflect and repent on our sins because even if it’s a really bad sin Jesus will still forgive you.
What I got out of the gospel is that Jesus is telling me to tell the Lord my sins and to repent them. And if we do repent then we will all perish.
Do 2 things for the rest of your life that are said in the reflection, repent and don’t judge just as Jesus said.
But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did! We all are sinners, with that we have to repent, we are not perfect nobody is besides God. We have to repent and ask God for forgiveness of our sins, God is welcoming us with open loving forgiving arms.
In this scripture it shows that in no means, if they had sinned greater than us, we are not better than them. We are all sinners which makes us the same. Which, we should not give into the devil’s temptations and we should stay with Christ. God doesn’t want us to be separated from Him. But we do have free will, we have to commit to ourselves and show God that we need Him.
I think that this scripture passage is telling me that if we sin, we can’t say we will try not to anymore, and then keep doing it. We have to keep our word to God.
What this scripture reflection says to me is that we all need to try to never think that we are better than anybody else. We are all equal because God made us all the same. Then he gave us all our own unique personality and more.
This scripture is telling me to stop judging people on sin or things they do. If a person sins do we judge them and make them an outcast? No, we take them in. We are sinners and Jesus is the one taking us in. Jesus also says a parable. We are the fig tree in the parable. We are sinners and the tree doesn’t bear fruit. Jesus helps us. He is the gardener. He gives us fertilizer and cultivates the ground.
“Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were greater sinners than all other Galileans? By no means!” I think this quote is super interesting. Jesus is saying that all sin is terrible, no matter how big or small. And, I find that super inspiring.
Even if we commit a small sin, it’s still terrible. Even though some Galileans suffered more than others, it wasn’t because they had greater sins.
Today’s Scripture passage is saying that we should repent our wrong doings. Jesus is a loving and forgiving God and He wants us to be by His side. Jesus wants to be by our side, we just have to allow Him in.
“But I tell you, if you do not repent, you will all perish as they did!” if you don’t repent you shale parish. this is powerful with just this sentence sums up what we need to do forgive and be forgiven.
To me this means that God is telling us that if we repent him then we will live in hell for eternity. Something else I thought of when I read this is God writing this had some anger which really spoke out to me.
If we do not go to confession our sins will come back to us when we pass away and it will be harder for Jesus to forgive us because we never went to confession.
This scripture is teaching that the only way to get forgiven and be in heaven is to repent.
To me this means that God is saying that if we do not follow God then we will have to live the rest of ours lives with the Devil in the depths of Hell.
Jesus will wait for us no matter what we do or how long it takes for us to come to him. Because he loves us more than anything. And we should love him more than anything, and not use him like a slot machine.
During confession we need to repent for the sins that we did so we can see God in Heaven for the rest of our lifeves
Not just the people that were killed for their sins were the only sinners in this world, In this scripture people were saying to Jesus that Gallileans were dying for how many sins they have commited and Jesus sounded angry for them saying how much they have been sinning when those people weren’t repenting for their sins, and they could have had the same amount of sins as them.
Why should we keep putting our money into a bank that never gives us interest, or allow someone to keep dwelling in our duplex but won’t pay rent? If something is not flourishing, what use is it? Why whould we keep putting our time into something that never gets better? In this passage, Jesus states that just because we may not have enough money as someone, that doesn’t mean that we won’t accomplish the same level of things that they did! Believe in yourself, and you will get there.
I think its saying that we all need to repent because we all have things to repent for. When we repent we show God that, yes it may be embarrassing, but we still care enough to own up to it, and get closer to Him. We can’t judge each other for our sins because we shall be judged.
Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were greater sinners than all other Galileans? You can’t judge people because you never know what is going on in their life and they could be struggling greatly so when you say a mean comment or judge the it just makes it worse
Its not right to judge a person because their sin because we all sin there is not a person that doesn’t sin.
The fig tree in this Scripture is are soul and the Holy Spirit is fertilizer. We need to go to mass every Sunday and be close to God, or the fertilizer will not work.
I believe this scripture is saying that we should offer our sins up so that we can always be forgiven and go to heaven.
What stood out to me was, “BUT I TELL YOU, IF YOU DO NOT REPENT, YOU WILL ALL PERISH AS THEY DID!” It stood out to me because we should repent and we don’t want to perish as they did. God will help you; you just got to ask and He’ll answer. Don’t take God out of your like; take Him in your life.
God is telling us to repent repent repent. We do not know when Jesus is coming again so lets be ready to receive him and his wonders.
This scripture tells me that all sin is sin. There is no in between. Every sin we have committed is bad. To make up for our sins we must go to confession and ask God for his forgiveness. Repent repent repent!
I think that this scripture passage is telling me that if we sin, we can’t say we will try not to anymore, and then keep doing it. We have to keep our word to God.
