Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
“While the crowd was pressing in on Jesus and listening to the word of God,
he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret.
He saw two boats there alongside the lake;
the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,
“Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.”
Simon said in reply,
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.”
When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish
and their nets were tearing.
They signaled to their partners in the other boat
to come to help them.
They came and filled both boats
so that the boats were in danger of sinking.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him,
and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
who were partners of Simon.
Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”
When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him.” Lk 5:1-11
Today, Jesus calls his disciples to follow Him. This will require change in their lives. Peter was married. They had a full time job as fisherman and the others had other trades. Today, in this Scripture passage, Jesus is calling you to follow Him. If you have any thoughts of becoming a priest or religious brother or sister, start praying daily asking God if this is your vocation. Ask Him if you are to be married and start praying for your future spouse. We are all called to be followers of Jesus, disciples. You have a choice to make; God’s grace is waiting to be given to you everyday.
Today, Jesus may be asking you to give some things up to follow Him, but they are nothing compared to the joy and peace you will receive by giving your heart to Jesus. There will be sorrow and sacrifice, too. Love requires sacrifice and unselfishness. It requires swallowing one’s pride. Jesus does not care where you are at in your spiritual life, today He is calling you to follow Him. “Be not afraid!”
Today’s challenge: Don’t worry about how much of a sinner you are, allow Jesus into your heart. He will slowly transform you. ”Be not afraid!”
Be a servant, become a saint!

I can apply this to my life by bringing ( catching) people and bring them to Jesus
I can apply this to my life by letting Jesus into our hearts and not being afraid. We should ask him our vocation too.
* my heart
“Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” I think this is very helpful because this tell me that i need to catch myself and others when we are falling away from God.

This Reading is showing that anything is possible with God even if it seems hopeless. We need to look to God when it seems tough we can pray and ask God or the Holy Spirit for their help.
Jesus is telling us that we need to give up everything to follow him and that we need to have him in the center of our life. We need to let Jesus into our life. We need to not have fear and to just put all of out trust into God.
This is telling me that I need to not be afraid of talking to Jesus. I don’t need to be afraid to confessing to him or talking to him about my future. No matter how much we sin he will still love us.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that God is here by my side protecting me so i should never give up on anything that I do.
I think the scripture today is telling us that er don’t need to be afraid of Jesus. Jesus is here to help us, to love us. Jesus helps people every single day.
In today’s gospel, God is telling us that we need to follow him and be loyal in every way possible. It is profound with which, what little was required of Jesus, to show Peter that he was our Lord. Yet after all things in which he has already done, some of us fail to have loyalty, and truly believe. So I think this gospel message simply put is to show us we need to be loyal, no matter what has happened or what is going to happen; stick through the thick and thin. Basically just restating your message, but I think this is honestly a very important thing, and that’s why it’s so simply put. Not to where it’s hard to understand.
i can apply this to my life my knowing Jesus is there to help me every step of the way
I can apply this to my life by always trusting in God, and never doubting him. I need to trust and know that he will lead me where I need to go.

*He
We need to trust God and let him help guide us.
In this passage Jesus tells Peter to cast his nets down in deep water. Peter and the others has been out on the water all day and haven’t caught a single fish, yet they said yes to Jesus and cased their nets, and caught many fish. What this means is that you either say yes to God and go all in, or say no to God and go all out. There is no in between thinking yes you do exist, but no you also don’t. It just doesn’t work.
We need to know when God is calling us to holiness, or marriage. He does great things everyday for us, and we need to know that. We serve to make it up to him. 🙂

I think what God is trying to teach us is that we need to be faithful to God and always ask for forgivness.
We need to listen to God and obey His will. We need to also be fishers of men and catch ourselves and others falling away from the church, and ourselves/them back to God. We need to trust in him more and be humble.
I can apply this to my life by forgiving who ever does something wrong and to listen to my conscious
No matter how much we sin God will always forgive us.
This gospel teaches us that if we listen to the Lord, we will do much greater things. Peter obeyed Jesus and caught an abundance of fish, after catching nothing before. If you have confidence in God you can do all things. We need to trust in the Lord, so that we can do more with him, but more importantly grow in unity with him and be holy.

We can apply this to our lives in serving the Lord and following him.
I can put this into my life by letting Jesus on my boat, and always trust in him, because he is God and he can do anything and everything for us.
I have heard this reading more than 20 times! This made me think for a while the first couple times I’ve heard this, but what really stuck out to me was this saying: “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.” It makes me think of all of the priests in this world, and that its hard to get to heaven.
i should also let Jesus “into my boat: .
I can apply this to my life by sacrificing if means letting Jesus into my boat so I can follow him.
We should always trust God and his plan for us, because he can help us fulfill that plan if we trust in him. Jesus told Peter “do not be afraid” but he is really telling us to not be ashamed of our beliefs, and to live out our faith fully, and to encourage others to do the same. In today’s culture, we are being told to wear and do and act like what’s popular and to not have any purity, but Jesus tells us that we shouldn’t be afraid to be modest and pure in what we do, and to live our faith in public.
Paetyn, I like your effort and believing in the high standards Jesus wants us to follow even if others do not! “Be not afraid!”
I can follow this gospel in my daily life by following God, because he knows what’s best for me.
This gospel today shows to me that we need to be open to Gods call all the time, but we are not always open to the call of God. So we should always be ready for his call even if we are going through hard times and don’t want to here the voice of God he will always be there through your life.
Jesus calls us too follow him, and join him in heaven. Just like Peter, James and John were fishers of men, we likewise are called to bring God’s word in our own way.
Jesus is trying to teach us that God works in big ways and in small ones. Either way, we need to embrace him
I wish I could be like Peter… He knew who Jesus was… not by man telling him, but GOD told him who he was…

Jesus is trying to tell us to follow him and be open to his call. Like the fishers in the boat i will let Jesus into my life so that I can follow him and be open to his call.
I think you can apply this to your life by listening for Gods call and if he is calling you, you must realize that and fallow him you may have to sacrifice some things but greater joy will come forth more than those things could ever hold.
We have to listen to Him when He asks us to do something. “Do not be afraid.” Is helpful when you’re afraid of what the future might hold for you. I will put this in my life by knowing that God has a plan for me and not be afraid.
You leave everything and go with Jesus
?????? is how I feel every day… maybe because I am like what father said, “ordinary”. At bed time I look up at my ceiling, and all of a sudden I jump out of my bed, I am scared out of my bed by the thought of death. But really I need to “be not afraid”.
I think the gospel is telling me to follow Jesus and sacrifice for Jesus.
