Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
“While the crowd was pressing in on Jesus and listening to the word of God,
he was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret.
He saw two boats there alongside the lake;
the fishermen had disembarked and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, he asked him to put out a short distance from the shore. Then he sat down and taught the crowds from the boat. After he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,
“Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.”
Simon said in reply,
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.”
When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish
and their nets were tearing.
They signaled to their partners in the other boat
to come to help them.
They came and filled both boats
so that the boats were in danger of sinking.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him,
and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee,
who were partners of Simon.
Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”
When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him.” Lk 5:1-11
Today, Jesus calls his disciples to follow Him. This will require change in their lives. Peter was married. They had a full time job as fisherman and the others had other trades. Today, in this Scripture passage, Jesus is calling you to follow Him. If you have any thoughts of becoming a priest or religious brother or sister, start praying daily asking God if this is your vocation. Ask Him if you are to be married and start praying for your future spouse. We are all called to be followers of Jesus, disciples. You have a choice to make; God’s grace is waiting to be given to you everyday. He is chasing after you to bring you back to Him.
Today, Jesus may be asking you to give some things up to follow Him, but they are nothing compared to the joy and peace you will receive by giving your heart to Jesus. There will be sorrow and sacrifice, too. Just ask Mary, His mother. Love requires sacrifice and unselfishness. It requires swallowing one’s pride. Jesus does not care where you are at in your spiritual life, today He is calling you to follow Him. “Be not afraid!”
Today’s challenge: Don’t worry about how much of a sinner you are, allow Jesus into your heart. He will slowly transform you. ”Be not afraid!”
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
The Lord asks us to give up everything and follow Him. He doesn’t want us to take worldly possessions and objects of the world, He just wants us.
We should always trust Jesus and believe that what He tells us is true.
to not be afrad of you salf an dshow that you got this
“Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.” This is very important cause Jesus is foreshadowing them being an Apostle and they will be converting people to faith. “Catching Men”
In Scripture today, Jesus is telling us that anything is possible if we trust God. He is calling us to spread the Gospel and to trust him. Simon Peter trusted Jesus and lowered his net, we need to trust Jesus too.
What reached out to me was when Jesus said, “Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” What this means to me is that Jesus knows everything. We shouldn’t be scared to participate in our faith because of a sin that he already knows about, instead we need to go to confession and leave a better person.
In this scripture Jesus is telling us to trust him no matter the outcome and just surrender all to him and be one with God. Jesus also wants us to be fisher of men so we can grow our faith and help others to understand the truth so we can all live in the kingdom of God
In this Gospel today, Jesus calls us to become fishers of men. Jesus is always calling our names. Once we submit to Jesus, He will fill us up with grace just as He filled the boats up with fish. Jesus will give us an abundant amount of mercy. We just need to believe in Jesus and trust Him. We should listen to Him just as Peter did. When we do hear Jesus’s call we should give up everything we have and follow Him.
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” We should be like Simon in the sense that we should listen to God. They had been out all day and got no fish so when Jesus told him to fish some more he could have said no, but he said yes. If Jesus asked us to do or be something then we should do it like Simon and obey.
A phrase that sticks out to me is Do not be afraid from now on you will be catching men. I like this phrase because it is so meaningful. it just show that the lord can not be out done his love is ever lasting
Today’s scripture passage is very meaningful and has many take-a-ways. The biggest take-a-way I got was to not be afraid. Don’t be afraid because Jesus is and will always be with you every step along the away. He’s been waiting for you to ask him for his help. If you want his guidance you also have to be willing to listen. You have to put forth effort. No one says that Faith would be easy. It’s hard, but keep fighting the good fight because one day it will pay off.
Just as Simon and the other people with him left their things and followed Jesus, we too must give up something and try to get closer with God everyday. We must ask him if we are to be priests or religious sisters, or married, and we should start praying, asking about what we think our vocation is, asking if it’s the right one.
When Jesus told them to cast out their nets they had refused because they thought it was impossible. They had already fished that area earlier so why would there be fish there now? Jesus has the power to make anything true. Just like He made fish appear, He can make a spark in us to believe that he is our God.
What really sticks out to me is the fact that he was fishing all night and when told to go out and cast another he did it. Some people would have laughed and said no. This is like ourselves, we need to keep trying with God and Jesus; so have faith in them because they both have faith for you.
Jesus shows them a miracle then they believe that he is the son of god. He says do not be afraid for from now on you will be fishers of men.
To me, the Scripture is saying that God comes before anything else and no matter what we are doing, that we should drop everything for Him because He is almighty. Hey Mr. Goertz! Hope you have an amazing day!
I am so pumped you guys remembered to do these, I miss seeing you guys in class and I hope adjusting to your new school is going well! You made my day!
We miss you guys! Hope you’re doing well🥲
Always trust God, God is so loving and he wants to be with us
A phrase that stuck out to me in this reading is, ‘”depart from me,Lord, for I am a sinful man.”
Pour out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.
“do not be afraid.” jesus said to us. that stuck out to me because during our life we all get afraid at some point.
“Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”
He fell at his knees in front of Jesus and said, ¨ Depart from me, Lord, For i’m a sinful man.”
Jesus told them to cast out the nets and they caught fish,i think this means that Jesus knows everything that is gonna happen in our lives.and when you really think about it that’s kinda scary to know that someone knows everything that is going to happen to you in your life.this can also make a lot of people really angry, like if a loved one died and you know that someone planned their passing.
When He told them to cast their nets again they did not believe Him because they had already fished in that spot and had no luck. But when they finally do they catch an abundance of fish.
I learned that when you hear Jesus and do as he says magical things can happen. When he told them to lower the nets the Apostles were hesitant but listened. I believe that is why they caught so many fish. When you listen to God and Jesus you will also become fishers of men, just like the Apostles.
Anything is possible with JESUS HIMSELF and if you believe in him we just have to believe in him and follow him. Love him anywhere and every second for what he has done for us because he loves us that much.
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” This helps me reamber to always lison to God.
Jesus doesn’t care if we are sinners because he loves us
Give things you love up to be able to follow Jesus. Pray about your vocation everyday.
something that really stuck out to me and I really liked was, When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him.” Lk 5:1-11
i think jesus showes us not to be afraid and and showed them a miricale and wants us to give up everything and and follow him.
in this Scripture passage, Jesus is calling you to follow Him. If you have any thoughts of becoming a priest or religious brother or sister, start praying daily asking God if this is your vocation.
Jesus tells the apostles to trust in him and they pulled in tons of fish. Do not be afraid stuck out to be because Jesus tells us to trust in him
Jesus wants us to let down our hearts come to him. He is preaching to all of us and wants us to follow him.
it shows that even when your in doubt, to always have trust in god and you will succeed.
what stuck out to me is that after hour of fishing and not get much they still cast out again when Jesus told them too and since they listened to Jesus they got a great number of fish, we should always listen to Jesus even if we’re tired.
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” This stuck out to me because It makes me remember that no one can be perfect no matter what.
“Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.”
Simon said in reply,
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.”
When they had done this, they caught a great number of fish
and their nets were tearing.
It means we should listen to Jesus and follow in his tracks because he’s done so much for us.
“Love requires sacrifice and unselfishness.” It stuck out to me love is everlasting and it can be tough to always be unselfish and give sacrifices for the people we love.
He fell at his knees in front of Jesus and said, ¨ Depart from me, Lord, For i’m a sinful man.” “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” These 2 sentences really stuck out to me because in the first one he knelt at the feet of Jesus to tell Jesus to depart from him for he is a sinful man. In the second one Simon told Jesus that they had caught nothing but at Jesus’ command they would lower their nets.
What stick out to me was this “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be cathing men”
I think the Lord is telling me to be the most popular person or the best at everything, but to be the best at leading people towards his love and grace. Being a fisher of men.
Simon fell to his knees and said depart from me for I am a sinful man This stuck out because he hubled himself before the lord and reconized he was a sinner
“Love requires sacrifice and unselfishness.” This stuck out to me because I know that love can be difficult to sacrifice for and it is easy to be selfish and not sacrifice for people we love.
we must be ready to stop whatever we are doing and follow Jesus
Do not be afraid from now on you will be catching men.
when we listen to Jesus good things come from it but when we dont listne or beleive we will be nothing without Him.
We should always trust God. We should never doubt Him in anyway.
Jesus wants us to go out and preach the word of Jesus so we can bring as many people to the light of god as we can. he said we will be fishers of men.
I think the reason why we are scared to accept Jesus is because we are afraid that we will be made fun of. We don’t want Jesus because we are scared to admit that we should love Jesus and the fact that Jesus loves you. We need to except him to help us get better.
this scripture means that we are all disciples of Christ and that we are all meant to spread the word of God.
I take this to mean that even when we have things that we do that are not fruitful, if they are nessecary for our redemption, Jesus will make them fruitful. He is always calling us. He’s always helping us. We might think that when these things happen, it’s only a one-time thing. But, the thing is, Jesus is always working in our lives. He’s always hands-on. And we need to acknowledge that and then allow ourselves to ask Him for things. Ask for his help.
when Jesus first came to them and told them to cast their nets over the side of the boat they were skeptical but did it anyway. But after they had seen what happened when they listened to Jesus they do not hesitate to leave every thing and follow him.
Jesus tells us “Do not be afraid from now on you will be catching men.” What He means is that from now on you will be bringing people to faith with Jesus.
What stood out to me was, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” It stood out to me because we all sin and Jesus will forgive you. Sining is something we mostly do everyday in our lives. Jesus tells us to forgive one another and follow Him.
This scripture is telling me that God is not scary or weird, we belong to him, but the world might tell us that it’s weird to believe in God. We shouldn’t be concerned about what the world says about us but what God says. God isn’t just a symbol or a belief to make our lives easier, He is truly our father, who loves us unimaginably.
Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.” Lk 5:1-11 that really stuck out to me because they just left there things for Jesus. Now in everyday life not everyone is willing to do that. Some people push God back, but really he needs to be number one. So before bed put down the phones and pray to God.
I think that it is saying that we need to bring people to do the right thing and follow Jesus. When they realize that true happiness is God, then they will also become fishers of men. We really need to do this if we want everyone to go to Heaven. It will be hard but God will help us.
We should not be afraid to follow God. We need to follow God in order to make it to heaven.
we are sinful just like Simon Peter said “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” But Jesus did not depart from us He said “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.” He wants us to spread the word.
I think that this is saying that even if Jesus tells us something and we think it is a little weird or different than what we would normally hear we must trust him. He is trying to help us so we must trust everything that he says so that we can live a good life. And we must not be afraid either, for Jesus will help us.
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” A very powerful quote from Simon. He is so overwhelmed that hhe is ashamed of himself for his sins.
Today’s scripture is telling me that God can do great things in our life. Instead of blocking Him out and being scared of this world we need to let Him bless us.
This means that you should never be afraid.
In Scripture today, Jesus is telling us that anything is possible if we trust God. He is calling us to spread the Gospel and to trust him. Simon Peter trusted Jesus and lowered his net, we need to trust Jesus too.
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” Every single one of us is, as Peter put it, a sinful man, but even though God knows this, he still loves us and was willing to die on the cross because of that love.
This scripture truly shows what having a trusting relationship with Jesus is. If you are to trust in him you will become more divine. You will learn from him. Jesus wants you to trust him. He is calling out to you to join him.
In today’s scripture God is telling us to leave everything behind and trust and follow him. He doesn’t want anything more than our love and ourselves.
What the scripture is telling me today is that we should always listen to Jesus and another part is not give up and listening is very important by listening to your parents if you have to do something than listen and Jesus is part of that you always need to listen to him and you will be rewarded if you listen to you depending on what you do.
“When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”’ This piece of Scripture is showing that Peter was showing humility. He didn’t have an ego that got in the way, but rather he showed that he knew that Jesus was God and humbled himself in front of Him. I think it’s telling us that we need to be humble in front of the lord, whether it’s by kneeling or lying prostrate in front of the monstrance.
Jesus wants us to follow Him just like Simon did. “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” Even though Simon thought there were no fish, he still obeyed Jesus. We need to obey Jesus and listen to Him.
I think the scripture is saying that Jesus and God will show us the way to heaven if we just listen and follow them. It is very important to listen to His calls even in your worst and best times. He is always there for us and loves us very much.
This Scripture is talking about how you should have faith in Jesus because he helped Simon catch fish and Simon said well i not going to work because we have been here all night and day and we haven´t cached a single fish and after Jesus told him that know you will be catching men and following me what i think this means to me is that we have to put our trust in Jesus even though sometime we might not trust him .
I like how Simon immediately apologized to Jesus for doubting him. He knew he was wrong, and Jesus immediately accepted his apology. We can easily put ourselves in Simon’s shoes, and know that we are very much like him. But we’re also reminded that God will forgive us.
I think the Scripture is saying we cannot be afraid. We cannot be afraid when scary things come our way. We have to be brave the way Jesus did. Jesus was brave even when He was dying on a cross for us. We can all learn bravery from Jesus.
It is saying that we all are sinners but Jesus will forgive us. No matter what you do or what will happen we all are His children. He doesn’t want us to be afraid of Him and He doesn’t want us to be scared to tell him our sins.
What caught my attention was “Do not be afraid” we should not fear anything. I am not trying to say to not be fearless but if we are doing good and not wrong there should be nothing to be afraid of. God will always be there for us no matter what. You might get away from Him but He will always be waiting for you. If you are with God there should be nothing to be afraid of.
Jesus called us to be “fishers of men”. Now I know you might be thinking, “What does that mean.”Jesus wants us to bring people or return people to the faith. Jesus wants our help so he can be loved by all. If we can’t help our savior a little bit we have something wrong. We need to be strong and help Jesus no matter what we are doing. Remember God comes first, so we need to always help Him first.
Jesus is a powerful and wonderful man. First, he blesses Peter and company with a multitude of fish. Because of this, their catch was successful. Then he calls them to “catch” other men. Jesus wants to bless us and for us to be successful in reaching Heaven.
We are fish, and Jesus is the fisherman. When Jesus casts the line, we call our fish friends and we all try to become hooked on him. We encourage all our friends to eat the yummy bait Jesus has thrown at us. We get caught and released, released to spread the word of God.
If we mess up or fail, IT’S OKAY. When Peter realizes who Jesus is, he tells him to depart from him because Peter is a sinner. But, Jesus says, “No! Instead, I call you to follow my plan for you.” We are Peter. God tells US to trust HIM. But we are also sinners. We WILL mess up. Peter denied knowing Jesus three times. We will make mistakes too. That is our human nature. But there’s an escape.
Confession.
Confession is always there when we stumble on our road to Heaven and even if we’ve been blown off course. It’s when Jesus, “Okay. Take a U-turn and return to me.”
No matter what the circumstances are, no matter how good or bad our lives may be, they are no match for God. We can always look back at Him when we are trying to do what’s right. We can follow God’s plan, serve Him and His Creation, spread the Good News, and become better people. Are you ready to become a saint?
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man” and yet he still loves us even though he doesn’t have to.
What stuck out to me probably stuck out to most people this was “Be not afraid for you will now be fishers of men” I think this is God saying to spread the Gospel and spread the word of God and try to convert people to Christianity.
” Do not be afraid from now on you will be fishers of men”
This is to say we should try to bring others to be close to God and to love him as we do.
“Today, Jesus calls his disciples to follow Him. This will require change in their lives.”
Jesus asked his disciples to follow him and they had to change their lives so we should be able to change our lives or just give him some time and pray to him. He is asking me to pray and worship him more.
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” This phrase stuck out to me because they didn’t want to cast their nets again but they listen to the Lord, just like we should listen to Him.
depart from me for i am a sinful man what this means to me is that we all beg for Gods forgiveness and he gives it to us if we follow him
The thing that stuck out to me most was probably “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets” I find this saying more metaphorical than what he was actually saying, I think that Simon was saying even if he was half dead he would do anything for the Lord and I think that’s beautiful.
I think Jesus wants us to help spread the Gospel. When he says fishers of men I think he means for us to try and make as many people Catholic as possible
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.”
This is important because we should never give up on the lord. When you pray and don’t hear anything from God, don’t stop praying.
” do not be afraid” becauase most of the time we are and we need god
We are all sinners but he forgives us.
Jesus calls us to leave everything behind when the time comes for us to follow him.
Simon said in reply “Master, we have worked hard all night and caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets” This shows that even if we don’t think something will work, we need to listen to God and follow his command.
Once Simon figured out that Jesus was who he was, he did not ask for anything, or try to test him to see he was really God, but he immediatly recognized that he was as lowly to Jesus as an ant. But Jesus loves us, and wants us to follow him even though we are sinners.
What stuck out to me was to be fishers of men and to not be afraid.
What this means to mean to me is to bring more people to believe in Jesus and to not be afraid of the Lord.
What really stuck out to me was “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” which really shows that we don’t really listen to God but when we do it works out in our favor.
The phrase that stuck out to me was “Be not afraid!”. It means that we shouldn’t be afraid to preach the word of God or to go to Confession.
As the part after the scripture passage tells us, Jesus wants us to follow Him. We are afraid of God because His way is hard. But we just turn away from Him. Follow Jesus.
Jesus can call anyone and everyone to whom He loves. He sees secret potential in others that even we can’t see in ourselves. He has a destiny for all of us and calls us to be who He wants us to be.
God performed infront of the Apostles so they would all believe and follow Him on his journey. Jesus also showed everyone on the beach what all God could do and how everyone should go and preach to non believers and get them to believe in God
I think today’s scripture passage is trying to tell us that we always need to trust God no matter what. Somethimes we dont listen to Him, but we need to have trust in Him.
Jesus teaches us not be afraid of him. He wants us to talk to him and be beside him. He wants a firm relationship with just you and God. Jesus calls us to leave everything behind and just focuse on him.
In this reading “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” was the line that stuck out to me because Simon believed in Jesus’ words which shows us that Jesus is true.
We should not be afraid and we should all trust God more and stop trying to take the easy way out of everything.
