“IN PRAYING, DO NOT BABBLE LIKE THE PAGANS,WHO THINK THAT THEY WILL BE HEARD BECAUSE OF THEIR MANY WORDS.” MT 6:7-15
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans,
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This is how you are to pray:
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
“If you forgive men their transgressions,
your heavenly Father will forgive you.
But if you do not forgive men,
neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” MT 6:7-15
St. Augustine said, “Run through all of the words of the holy prayers (in Scripture), and I do not think you find anything that is not contained and included in the Lord’s Prayer.”
Our Father (many of the saints stopped here thanking God for allowing them to call Him Father, Pope Francis says Abba means Dad-Do you allow Him to wrap His arms around you like a loving Father?) who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name:
God, the Father, Almighty, I bring myself into your presence humbly as a sinner who needs your mercy to worship, adore, glorify, praise, and thank you. Thank you for allowing me to call you Daddy and thank you for calling me son/daughter.
thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven:
I submit my will to you, please give me the courage, strength, and grace to follow it. I completely surrender and trust in you. I surrender into your loving arms.
Give us this day our daily bread:
Thank you for taking care of our every need, I trust in you. Please help me recognize the needs of others and help them. Thank you for the everlasting sustaining Bread that is your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us:
please send me your grace so that I may forgive as You forgive me, help me not to judge incorrectly or label, have mercy on my soul.
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil (protect us from the Devil).
Today’s challenge: Make sure the Our Father is the first words on our lips each morning so we have the right perspective going into each day. Enter God’s heart by humbling yourself before Him, empty yourself so that He can fill you up to be an instrument of love, thank Him for sustaining you each day and providing us with His life (grace) by faithfully receiving the sacraments, ask for the grace to forgive, for mercy, and protection from Satan.
Be a servant, become a saint!

If we say words when praying just to say more words, we will be ignored. But if we say meaningful words and take time and think about what we say, we will be heard by our God.
In the last part where it said that we should forgive others because God forgives us spoke to me. I think that we don’t realize that when people hurt us that we have hurt people too. I’m not trying to say that we should brush off if someone hurts us, but we should try to be understanding because we have all hurt someone.
jesus is all was withus and i sacrit cofernt and my back rilly herets and jesus is all was withus drint the hard tims and gif us his bothe and blud
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them.” This is what he says before giving us the our father. This is crazy because Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are one person so God himself gave us a prayer to say to him and in return give us eternal life.
Prayer is our time with Jesus. To truly connect with Him and to be with Him. We don’t need to say long, complex prayer or memorized prayers, we can just speak and be with Him. Jesus wants to be our friend and the only way to develop a true relationship with Jesus is to just talk with Him. With friends we say our memorized, “Hey, how are you?” but we also just talk to them about our lives and the hardships we’re facing.
We need to actually mean what we are praying. Memorized prayers make it easy to just say the words instead of meaning them. We need to take the time to focus on what we are saying to God.
In this Gospel, Jesus tells us to pray with your heart. When we pray, we should not just say things like a robot and hope God answers your prayers. Praying is talking to God. We should also pray the Our Father because Jesus gave us this prayer and it is a way to talk to God.
Jesus brought us to this earth. He created us and gave us everything we needed. When we started sinning he died for us, letting us get to heaven. But we still don’t care. He taught us to pray by making us a prayer. We have to learn to slow down and appreciate what he gave to us all those years ago. He gave us heavenly life.
Today´s scripture, even though is short, is still very powerful. The main message I took from this is that we need to care. We need to realize just because they think they are ¨ popular ¨ doesn´t mean they are holy. Be the better person, even when its hard. We are supposed to represent God on Earth, show other care and love, even if others aren´t or you are put to the test while doing it. Jesus told us that it won´t be easy, he told us. But if we care, we will truly do it in love for him. So, during this lent lets practice actually caring about what we do.
“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Jesus taught us how to pray to the Father. We ask Him to forgive us but before we do that we need to be sorry and to forgive others.
In todays reading we have to understand that we have to be willing to be at mass and go to adoration because if we dont we lose faith and we lose hope of being saved. As well as doing things without being forced too.
Jesus gives us a prayer because we need to stop babbling and saying prayers we don’t mean.
What reached out to me was when Jesus said, “If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you.
But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” What this means to me is that this is a reminder that we’re all human. Everybody makes mistakes, but we shouldn’t judge people for them. We should help them avoid their mistakes, and remember that we make them too. This lent is an amazing opportunity to avoid repeating mistakes and to help others avoid theirs.
Start your day with the Our Father. While we say the prayer, we acknowledge that God is the Father. The all powerful Father. The Father of all creation. At mass father says “we dare to say”. We are submitting ourselves to being holy and obedient when saying the Our Father. It is important to say this prayer because we must learn to submit ourselves to being holy. Being holy doesn’t just means going to mass, it means taking something from the mass and living a holy lifestyle.
In this scripture the apostles are taught the our father. He tells us this is the way to pray if you don’t know how. Jesus also tells them if they do not forgive others then why should he forgive you. We have to be forgiving and have forgiveness to go to heaven. If we want to be more like Christ then we have to forgive.
“If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you.” Jesus gave us the Our Father in this gospel and he told us that we need to forgive others. I think he is saying that if we forgive people the Father will forgive us. Jesus knows that for a lot of us forgiving people is a very difficult thing to do so that’s why he wants us to do this.
I think this scripture is saying that we must try and forgive people even If they have wronged us.
I think that it says that if we don’t forgive others then we won’t be forgiven. And just to try and forgive them even if they have hurt us.
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them.” Think before you speak. That’s what a lot of adults tell us. Not only that but think before you pray. Think about the words you are saying. Hail Mary, Full of grace The Lord is with you. You can’t just say the words, you have to think about what they mean.
“This is how you are to pray” these are the words Jesus said to his people, he wants us to pray a certain way as in praying an Our Father. I think Jesus is telling us that we must forgive the enemy, even when they were rude and mean, the scripture today wants us to forgive people even when they did wrong to us.
Jesus taught us a prayer, “The Our Father”. He told us to pray like this, by saying the “Lord’s prayer”. He gave this prayer to us for a reason. He wanted us to know how to pray. He was the teacher of all teachers. Let Him teach us.
We need to care if we want to be with him. If we don ´ t care and put in any effort with our relationship with God we won’t grow in his faith. A relationship goes two ways one person can’t put in all of the effort and have the other person just sit there you have to care. God cares for us all we have to do is also care for him. When we put effort into our relationship with God we grow so much in his love mercy faith and more. If we want to be with him we must care.
Today’s reading I think that it means When you praying and asking and just anytime slow down and find the meaning behind things take time and realize the things we are saying and everything that God has given us. Don’t rush at life or anything.
Jesus says: In praying, do not babble like the pagans
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
this is interesting because it means that words do not mean anything, only what is in them does.
A LOT of people think that the our father is just some prayer that people say to talk to the Lord, but this proves just how powerful this prayer really is and how big of a meaning it has.
Prayer is a time when we can connect and talk to Jesus. If we are silent, peaceful, and prayerful we will be able to fully connect to Jesus. Even a short prayer will allow us to speak to him.
This scripture tells us that Jesus gave us the Our father is the direct message but it’s also telling us If you forgive men their transgressions,
your heavenly Father will forgive you.
But if you do not forgive men,
neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” God, the Father, Almighty, I bring myself into your presence humbly as a sinner who needs your mercy to worship, adore, glorify, praise, and thank you. Thank you for allowing me to call you Daddy and thank you for calling me son/daughter.
The Our Father prayer is Jesus praying to God or to him praying to himself, which leads us to the great mystery of 3 people but one God. We need to allow God to come and be with us, let his “Kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven,” the only way that can happen, is if we allow Jesus to dwell inside our hearts.
We have to realize that when we pray the Our Father we are talking about God, and talking to Him. We must realize that God is listening to everything and everyone. We also must tremble at the thought of our God and seeing Him face to face when we die. If we don’t forgive people for their trespasses and transgressions then God will not forgive us as easily. We have to pray to God for His forgiveness. And for our daily bread.
Today we learn that prayer isn’t just saying words we read/know then we will have no connection to God prayer is talking to God with your heart, soul, and mind. We can have a great bond with Christ by only praying 2 to 3 times a day just talking to him for even a short period of time you just have to acknowledge that Jesus Christ is a Savoir, King, and protector.
He says to slow down and not to babble “like the pagans”. Jesus wants us to slow down and think about the words in our prayer. He wants us to know what our prayer really means. After that Jesus gives us the “Our Father”. He teaches us to pray and listen and concentrate on our own words.
God is the light. God will lead us. God said that he loves us and that he wants you to come to heaven so we can live without end with him. We have to follow Jesus’ lead. God sent his son down in earth to act as an example of holliness. God knows everything so he probably wouldn’t do anything without a reason. This lent let us all follow Jesus and get to heaven
We must have God on our lips. For example this scripture was Jesus saying the Our Father, so if we just say the Our Father everyday and don’t really think about it we will eventually get bored and we don’t care what it says at all, If we just flip this around and we just slow down and pray it slowly and don’t rush, we can get a lot more out of it than we think. We must fight the urge to just get on with our day, compared to God, TV doesn’t matter, sports doesn’t matter, anything material doesn’t matter only He matters. So just take a couple deep breaths slow down and pray.
We do not have to say long lengthy wordy thing to get his attention you need to say the short prayer our father. It is important to know this so that we can get God’s attention faster he will recognize that we really want to talk to him.
We do not have to say long lengthy wordy thing to get his attention you need to say the short prayer our father. It is important to know this so that we can get God’s attention faster he will recognize that we really want to talk to him
Our Father (many of the saints stopped here thanking God for allowing them to call Him Father, Pope Francis says Abba means Dad-Do you allow Him to wrap His arms around you like a loving Father?) who art in heaven. To me today’s gospel is trying to tell us that Jesus is our father and our savior. If we ever have trouble in life Jesus is there to comfort us and make us feel better than ever.
I think the scripture reflection is saying we have to forgive people even if they are wrong you dont have to forget it but you cant stay mad at them forever and you just have to move on.
God won’t forgive you if you don’t forgive yourself and man himself. Submit to God for you will be forgiven. God already knows what you have done and what you want to ask him but you need to build up the courage to do it yourself to for he is there for you no matter what.
What stuck out to me was that “If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you.But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” This stuck out to me because sometimes its hard to forgive people but must try to forgive them because if we cant learn to forgive others God will not forgive us.
If you forgive your neighbor, I will forgive you. That is very powerful. It goes along with yesterdays as, love your neighbor. If you do not forgive your neighbor I will not forgive you. Be kind and gentle to people and live life with joy. That is what Jesus is telling me through this scripture. Like the golden rule. Treat others how you would want to be treated. Jesus wants us to care and love each other. Bring everyone to him. Forgive and you shall be forgiven.
If we say a prayer with no meaning or intent, they are just words. We need to pray to God like we are talking to a friend. We need to pray with intent, and meaning, not just saying the words that we are told to say
I submit my will to you, please give me the courage, strength to follow you and to be with and by your side. Help me see the needs of others and to help them with your grace and so that I may forgive as You forgive everyone each day and providing us with His grace
I think what God is trying to say is that if you respect each other, you will be respected by the Father in Heaven. If you don’t respect other people then the Father will not respect you.
In today’s scripture I think it is telling us to take your time to make a meaningful response so if you are asked a question don’t just mumble a response take your time and actually say something that means something and have a conversation with them.
Pray meaningfully. Do not just say the prayer. Put meaning in it because if you do God will answer. The prayers we say have meaning. They are not just simple words haphazardly put together. They were made with the purpose of communicating with God among other things. They are important.
I think the scripture is saying that Jesus wants us to pray with “our father”. The “Our father” is the most powerful prayer because we are asking God for any intenions we have, praising him, asking him to forgive us, asking him to help us forgive others, and saying to him that we are children, reminding us we are his children. That’s why I think Jesus wants us to pray to “Our Father”. He does not want us to not pray the other prayers, but “Our Father” is the most powerful prayer ever. Satan flees at the sound of this prayer.
The Our Father is more than something that we memorize so we sound like we are praying, it has many different meanings in every word. We are going to God and thanking him and praising him. We are asking him to bring us closer to him and the Son and to forgive us for our sins as we forgive others for theirs. We ask him to protect us and guide us. It is us having a conversation with God.
Today´s scripture, is still very powerful. The main message I took from this is that we need to care. We need to realize that just because they think they are , does not mean they are holy. Be a better person, even when it’s hard. We are supposed to show others care and love, even if others are not.
we are called out and loved but its us that makes the choice to either exept the calling or dont its our choice because of free will we also have the choice of wether to be happy or sad. everyone will experince hardship and sadness but everyone will also experince happiness thats why we should always smile. god will still love and cherish you no matter what you will never be alone in life through prayer our biggest succsess would be to live with god for eternity. you are loved and cherished! God loves you!!!!
In the Our Father we ask God to forgive us for our sins but also we must forgive those who have done mean things to us. We’re also asking God to protect us from the devil by saying “and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
Isn´t it crazy to think that God is present in the Eucharist!? That the tiny piece of bread we eat at every Mass is…Him? The same thing is true about his blood. The wine…it ´ s technically not…wine! It´s Jesus! Jesus is present in BODY AND BLOOD at every Mass. Every Mass! Today at Mass I started to understand this faith we believe in—I started to understand it more! And now looking back, I can´t believe all the times I didn´t realize how important the Mass is—how important our faith is! I know this info is the “basics” when it comes to Catholicism but it is MORE than just the basics.
What i understood from the scripture is that words are very powerful. We can use them for good and evil. Obviously we should use them for good. People use their words more for evil than for good when they don’t go to church. God is telling us that He wants us to pray a certain way (Our Father). He was saying that when we rush through prayers we are not saying it meaningfully. We need to say it slower and have meaning to what we are saying.
We are created in the image of Christ. And Christ calls on us to share his example with the world, and part of that is showing people mercy and being forgiving. Be Christ’s messenger or mercy in the world.
I think this scripture is not just about how to pray, but i feel like this prayer isn’t just a way to talk to God. Our Father tells us how God the father acts. If we don’t forgive others, he will not forgive us. If we do not do good to others he will not do good to us.
When we forgive others for their faults against us, we are loving others and serving God. We are being what He wants us to be. When we forsake or abandon others, we are abandoning God and his love for us. Serving God daily will protect us from temptation and evil. He will give us eternal life, but we must follow His ways to get to Heaven
What I think this is saying is that we should not just quickly go through the motions and words of prayer. We should take our time and really focus on God when we are praying and all the things he has given us. We need to take time when saying the words of a prayer especially the Our Father because that is the prayer that he gave to us to teach us. So next time we go to pray we should not just rush through it. We should take the time to understand and to talk to God.
what the scripture is telling me is that we should be short and sweet with our words and prayers to God and to just simplify what we have to say to him. we have to be willing to give ourselves up to him so he can give himself up to us. we have to be willing to also forgive others who have offended us so God can forgive us aswell.
This scripture is telling us that prayer is very important. Prayer is a time to talk with God. Prayer is a very important thing and we should be praying everyday. Prayer helps us build a relationship with Jesus.
Jesus taught us a very important prayer, Our Father. It teaches us about how forgiveness is so important, and we should be forgiving even when it isn’t easy to. Prayer is one of the most important things we can do. Prayer to God helps us build a stronger relationship with him, and it gives us a chance to talk to Him and listen to what He has to say to you.
We must learn to forgive others. When we forgive them we forgive God. We should always forgive like Jesus did. It may be hard but it will be worth it in the future.
Jesus asked us not to babble on and on. Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. when he says thy will be done he is saying that he has a plan for us. we need to stop and listen to him and not get distracted by our daily life and listen to Jesus. and as me goertz says it ¨ humbly submit your will to God ´ ´
Don’t go around saying random things like you think that you are right. Only say things if you know they are true. Pray with the words of God not with the words that make it so you will be noticed. If you listen to Our Father it is about how we trust in God and love Him.
“Run through all of the words of the holy prayers (in Scripture), and I do not think you find anything that is not contained and included in the Lord’s Prayer.” This stood out to me because we all tend to run through everything and don’t take time to stop and listen to the world around us. There are amazing things in this world that we don’t take time to acknowledge the beautiful things that God has created. This doesn’t even need to be things outside, we all need to start listening to our peers because it is a nice thing to do and if they need help or support you will know what they are talking about. Just take your time to listen to everything around at some point. It is a great thing to do.
In today’s Gospel Jesus gives us the real prayer. We shouldn’t try to pray to God by just speaking in random words. We need to have a conversation with God and not just throw things at Him think that He will give you what you want.
Today Jesus tells us how to pray. He teaches us the Our Father. When he finishes saying the prayer he says we have to forgive men for their transgressions and our heavenly father will forgive us. We need to forgive each other for what we’ve done because if something happened to you because of someone else, you will hold onto that for your life and it will bother you but if you forgive them not only will you feel better but they will also feel better.
In this scripture Jesus is telling us to not be like the pagans, he said to his disciples to not babble while he was praying. This scripture is trying to tell us to slow down while talking to God and while praying. God knows what you need before you even ask him.
Jesus tells them to not babble like the pagans when they pray who try to be heard because of how much they pray. when you prey you don not need a lot of words you just need to have meaningful words that have intentions for God. we also dont have to use memorized prayers you can just talk to God.
Our Father Basically says everything we need to know. hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Is saying to give our lives to God in order to be saved. Give us this day our daily bread; I think means consuming the Eucharist, and and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, Is Reconsiliation. Jesus makes it easy for us to praise God in this simple prayer, so we should do what it says.
“Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Jesus knows what we need before we ask him. He probably knows what we need before we even know. We need to learn to trust Him and know that he knows what is best for us.
From this I took away that we need to stop just going through the motions when it comes to praying. When we say memorized prayers we just say the words but don’t actually focus on what we are saying. We need to sit down and realize what we are saying instead of just saying them because our teacher said so.
In the scripture today I think that Jesus was telling us how to pray and that the Our Father is a awesome and powerful prayer. Some people may not think the words coming out of your mouth when you say the Our Father and the other prayers they may just think there words but what the don’t get is that the prayers help Jesus, Mary, all the saints, are neighbors, and all the other people in the world these can help them.
God knows what’s in our hearts, and he knows what is best for us. Instead of continuously asking for what we want, we should take the time to thank God for all hes done, and ask him to protect us from temptation, and the devil. “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”
I think the scripture is saying that we need to forgive to be forgiven, that we need to be meaningful in our words. God knows what we need and He has known long before we have, which means we must trust in Him that His will shall be done to not only Jesus but to everyone of His children.
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words.” When I heard this is Mass today, I admittedly thought of cussing. Maybe that’s not what the verse means but that’s what I thought of. I know everyone cusses, whether it’s often or not, it is still bad. You aren’t cool if you cuss. Honestly you’re more weak. We bring down people with our words. We need to try not to cuss as much and be like Jesus instead.
“Your Father knows what you need before you ask him” Was the piece of Scripture that stuck out to me. I think it’s saying that God, is our father, He knows us like we are His children. He knows what we need, and what we want. He knows what’s in store for us and He will answer our prayers if they are in His will.
“If you forgive men for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” MT 6:7-15″ I feel like this scripture is telling me that we need to forgive others. We can’t keep holding grudges because God wants us to love everyone.
I think the Scripture is saying God gave us this prayer for a reason. The Scripture is also saying we always have to forgive others. We cannot hold grudges, and stay mad. We have to let go of it and find some way to forgive others the way Jesus did.
This scripture is talking about when Jesus gave his disciple the prayer of the ¨our father¨ and Jesus told them to not to pray like that and that they instead should pray the prayer that they were given
It is saying that we should care about each other. If we don’t care then everyone would not like you. We should take our time and care about each other.
Scripture today is telling us that we don’t have to pray the same way everyone does. You can pray your way, with your sincere intentions. Prayer is something that should make our relationship with God stronger. Prayer is between you and God. So be sincere about it.
At the very start of this Scripture I think Jesus is directly trying to tell us to fully give yourself to God in prayer, not just go through the actions and fully speak to God. Tell Him what’s going on in your life and what your looking forward to.
If we don’t forgive each other, why should God forgive us? I we don’t try to be nice to others, why should God have to be nice to us. We have to put in an input to get an output. God knows what we deserve and we will get what we deserve in the end. If you try to be like God, God will help you try ad get your goal.
God calls us His children. We are His. He claims us. He always wants us. God desires for us to be whole in Him. God claims us to be His own. There is beauty in that. Think about it. God wants us even when no one else does. He doesn’t care. Nothing matters to Him but you and your soul. You aren’t pressured to be someone else. Just what God needs you to be.
What I think this is saying is that we should not just quickly go through the motions and words of prayer. We should take our time and really focus on God when we are praying and all the things he has given us. We need to take time when saying the words of a prayer especially the Our Father because that is the prayer that he gave to us to teach us.
What stuck out to me was the phrase: Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. This stuck out to me because to me it’s saying don’t be afraid to ask God for what you need. I think it’s also saying that God knows what you need more than what you think you need.
“This is how you are to pray: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Jesus said those words with his own mouth, he created those words.
I think God is trying to tell us he would rather us pray 5 hail marys with intent and focus then 50 without focus and thinking about other things. He does so much for us yet we can’t even focus when we pray and fast for ourselves and not him
“If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” This stuck out to me because we need to forgive others. We can’t hold grudges. We will never move on from what happens if you don’t forgive. Jesus forgave all of the men that hurt him and died for their sins so the least we can do is forgive our friends and family.
“as we forgive those who trespass against us;” We sin a lot and usally people forgive us, we need to return the favor and not hold grudges but instead forgive because that is what Christ would do.
I think that this is one of the many, many ways to show how much God truly cares for us. if we forgive others, then he will forgive us.
Give us this day our daily bread: Thank you for taking care of our every need, I trust in you. This really sticks out to me since he is giving us his own body at mass. He sheds his flesh and gives his blood to show us who he is as a person and he is God because who else would do that besides God.
Do not babble like the pagans. This is like saying to your friend you promise this or that then you break that promise. If we can’t keep a simple promise we should admit it. It’s better than not telling the truth and lying even more than to start. If we pray just so others think we are praying it lying not to God, not to your friends, but only to yourself. We need to honor Jesus because WE want to do it.
When we pray the Our Father we are talking about God, and talking to Him. If we don’t forgive people for their sins against us, then God will not forgive us as easily. We have to pray to God for His forgiveness.
This shows that when you pray to God you are getting closer with him each time you pray. God really loves that and he wants you to pray every day he loves it when we talk to him and ask for things. He loves when we ask and every time we ask him a question he will answer and when w]he speaks to you you have to pay attention because his answers wont always be visible.
Today the scripture said to me that we should pay attention when we pray. When we pray prayers like the Our Father and Hail Mary we don’t stop and really think about what we are saying. Sometimes we just need to slow down and listen and we will learn from it. when we focus on the words we say we can think about them more deeply and think of what God is telling us through prayer.
“Give us this day our daily bread.” The Eucharist is our daily bread. We are meant to receive as often as we can, as reverently as we can. God gave us this gift, so that we can share in the divinity of God. The Eucharist unites us with all others, as children of God. “In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them.” What this means to me is people who don’t care about how they pray think they will be heard but won’t because they don’t care. We need to care about what we are saying when we are praying. We need to slow down and hear the words and speak them slowly so we can understand their meaning. If we really love God then we’ll pray the prayers He gave us thoughtfully.
If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you.But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions. When i read this i think for us to not hold grudges because someone did this or that but to forgive them with all your heart.
If you just say the memorized prayer and don’t pay attention then you are talking to God without sincerity which does not get you to heaven whereas if you pay attention to the words and mean them that will get you closer to heaven
We should never rush through prayer and always slow down and think about what we are saying. We should also put God before our own wants, Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Take your time in prayer and stop to spend some time with God. I agree with the suggestion to start your day off with God every morning by saying an Our Father first thing in the morning and I intend to start doing this.
“Do not be like them.” We often hear people saying “be yourself” and “Don’t try to be someone you’re not” and although these things are true, we often feel the need to just say these things and don’t realize their true meaning. God created us differently from everyone else. We must love ourselves in order to love others. We need to appreciate what we have. God knew what was going to happen to us since the beginning of time, so we need to trust in his plan.
The pagans (what ever that means) thought they were heard by simply mumbling, babbling words and assumed that God heard them. God will hear us if we, (underlined) actually mean what we say. If we are just saying the prayer as if it’s just a bunch of words, God wouldn’t respond. We should probably pray as if it means something because, it does mean something.

When talking to God in prayer, we should savor the moment, and take in the fact that we are talking to God the father spiritually. God loves when we talk to Him, but we take the ability to talk to Him for granted, and we shouldnt.

Most of the time when we pray we just say the words and dont know actually what we are praying. We need to think about what we are praying because it is Gods words.
