Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Brothers and sisters:
If you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are obvious:
immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry,
sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy,
outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness,
dissensions, factions, occasions of envy,
drinking bouts, orgies, and the like.
I warn you, as I warned you before,
that those who do such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, generosity,
faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law.
Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their flesh
with its passions and desires.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit. Gal 5:18-25
If you are struggling with a sin of the flesh, Jesus teaches us to fast (40 days in the desert). Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and increase the gifts of the Spirit within you. You are a temple of the Holy Spirit, be careful what you put into your body, what you listen to, and what you watch. Every time you watch something, read something, or listen to something you are being formed. Are you forming yourself with Truth (Eucharist/Sacraments, Bible, catechism, Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy) or with lies (every time you turn on the TV, Internet, social media, music, books that are not spiritual). If you want to know if you are doing God’s will look to see if you have the fruits of the Spirit in your life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, goodness, self-control, modesty, chastity. These are a great benchmark and their is no law against them!
Today’s challenge: Everyone struggles with sins of the flesh, but Christ buried the chains that bind us to sin, go to confession, fast, and pray. All sin can be overcome with Christ and His grace. God’s love is the most powerful thing in the world. Spend more time in prayer, with your Bible, a rosary, with family and less time with electronics.
I can apply this to my life by thinking about cause and effect situations in my life. He is a loving and caring God but he is a God of justice.
I can apply this to my life by reading the bible, the spiritual and corporal works of mercy and the chatechism and form myself in God
We must follow the Holy Spirit and Jesus so we can get into Heaven. There is no law when following the Holy Spirit.
I can apply this to my life by, asking the Holy Spirit to guide me and increase the gifts of the Spirit within me.
I can apply this to my life by thinking about cause and effect situations in my life.
I think that today’s Gospel is telling us how the fruits of the spirit fulfill our life more than the works of the flesh. We’ll be happier if we listen to the fruits, which is counterintuitive, because everywhere we look, we’re being bombarded by the falsehood that we’ll be happy if we follow the works of the flesh.
In this scripture passage I think that we should all try and take time away from electronics and instead spend time with family or with things that form us with the Spirit. Jesus broke the chains of sin so that we can spend eternity with him. Let’s try to stand strong against sin and temptation and focus on the fruits of the Holy Spirit.
After I read this, I felt that I received more knowledge of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. The sins of the flesh can be contrasted with the fruits of the Holy Spirit to help us turn away from these sins. For example: Instead of hatred, we can show love and joy. These fruits of the Holy Spirit help us turn away from sin and lead us to the Kingdom of God.
The Holy Spirit has given us all the tools we need to live a holy life. We just have to choose Him and holiness.
I can follow these fruits to live a life of Joy.
The things that God gave us through the Holy Spirit are good. Unlike the things that man has given us. Therefore we must follow God and not man. God knows whats good for us and only wants what’s best.
I can apply this to my life by asking the holy spirit to guide me. I can also try my hardest to fufill the gifts of the holy spirit.
The Scripture tells us to remind ourselves of the worldly sins we are struggling with today. It helps us to know how much we’re worshipping our material items.
In the scripture, Jesus gives us the fruits of the Holy Spirit to contrast sin of the flesh. He flat out states that if we do these sins then we won’t be able to get to Heaven. However, he also gives us the fruits of the Holy Spirit to combat these sin. We must learn to be able to fight of these sins with the fruits of the Holy Spirit. We can compare our daily lives to these virtues and vices so that we are able to learn what we are doing wrong, and strive to do what is right.
We should follow them- the fruits. They’re key to sainthood, and it’s a truism because it’s true. They sustain us.
One thing that I can take away from this gospel is to remember what Fr. Jarrod told us a few days ago. I need to recognize when I start doing something the opposite of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, to slow down and ask the Holy Spirit to guide me to do better.
What I took away from this is that everything isn’t found online and sometimes you just need to pray and pray to find out.
Jesus is telling us to follow what he did in his life time.
We need to put Jesus in the center of our lives and pray everyday. We also need to pray to the Holy Spirit for guidence so we can get to heaven.
I can apply this to my daily life by sticking to these morals not trying to fall away to be defferent because that would be sin.I can stay true to these morals by praying and asking God what he wants me to do with my life.
In this scripture, Jesus is telling me that there are many obsticals on the way to heaven and we must strive to stay on the right path to the gates.
In this scripture, it is telling us that we can not be on the fence about our faith. We can not endulge in the humanly desires our whole life and then expect to get in to heaven. We must strive to live holy lives and have god be the center of our lives if we want to go to heaven.
i can imply this to my life by always turning to Jesus. When i’m struggling i always turn to Jesus because he always helps me. We need to put Jesus in the center of our lives and pray to the Holy spirit.
In today’s scripture Jesus is telliing us that if we do the things he tells us not to do we will not go to heaven but if we do the things he wants us to do we will go to heaven.
This scripture passage describes the works of the flash, and the works of the spirit. We must follow Christ and give up the sins or the flesh. We must be full of the fruits of the spirit.
In today’s writing, I noticed the influence that the Holy Spirit can have on people. We need to call for the Holy Spirit and our guardian angel to watch over us every day. We need to follow in the footsteps of Christ and let Him guide us through our days on Earth
I can apply this to my life by treating by body as a temple for Jesus.I can do this be only putting things that are good and holy into my body and into my life.
I can relate this to my daily life by not beng jealous of others even when they get something better than you never be jealous just be proud because of what they got.Congradulate them and move on.
What God is telling us in this scripture reading today is that we need to try to not fall into human desires and try to live our life with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control. We need to spend more time with him and get to know him better than ever. We are getting older and we will be able to go to more places and do more things, but we need to remember that as long as we live with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control.
Spend as mush time in prayer. Many times we forget to pray, this should not be a act of a christan. Praying is in the center of our relationship with Jesus.
I feel like what Paul is trying to say in this passage is that these acts of the flesh cannot and will not lead you to eternal happiness and will only give you torment and suffering in the end.
This is telling me and when i say telling me i mean really deeply speaking to me to folow the things Jesus and God are telling me to do in todays scripture. Just as he said he is warning us just how he has before that those who do such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. The love he has that he is trying to warn us in life means that he cares about us so i will take what God is saying to me and use it in life.
The holy spirit, jesus christ, our lord. He knows what is good. We need to shoe the ways of christ. The little sins that we think are ok need to stop. We need to teach ourselves to distantg our bad habits. If we pray, God will listen. He forgives us for everything even if we do such horrible things and testing him. We need to out our phones or any devices down and enjoy life. Enjoy the beautiful blessing we have recieved.
The scripture is telling me that we need to do what is right and help others do the good things. That will get us to heaven.
What I learned from this scripture is that we talk to God like he is our enemy when he doesnt do what you want. But he did that for a reason, for you to understand that sometimes tings don’t always go the way you want it to.
In this scripture I feel like God is telling me to listen more to the Holy Spirit because I need grace in my life and to listen to the Holy Spirit will help me get tot hat oal of mine. It will also help me to make better choices in times because sometimes I need to get off my bed at home and to go help around the house.
In today’s Scripture Jesus talks about how you need to practice the girfts of the gifts of the holy spirit to enter Heaven. He gives a list of bad things th devil wants us to do that will not get us to heaven. I can apply this to my life by praying to the holy spirit to help me understand how to use the gifts corrects.
In this gospel It is obvious that God wants the best for us. He wants us to leave these evil things in search of a better, more holy life. this is what we all need to do.
Sometimes we get so cought up in worldly problems that they cloud the vision of our main goal, to get to Heaven. We need to take a step back and realize what God has planned for us and act upon it.
I can apply this by thinking about what I’m doing and seeing if I can do something better or more spiritually productive. If we pray and try to be better and get closer to God, we can grow in our faith. If we try to avoid sin and practice the virtues, our spirit wil grow .
I can apply this to my life by slowing down and taking a look around me. God has given me so much and in return I do things against him. I need to slow down, think about what I’m doing and decide if it’s the right decision. Will this decision lead me down the right path?
We need to start aplying the fruits to our every day life; and start living with the holy spirit inside us.
In the Scripture, it mentions sins/works of the flesh. We must look at those and think how we can avoid these things. In turn we must also follow the Works of Mercy and the Fruits of the Holy Spirit so that we can be prepared for Heaven.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that all my actions can have effect on my spirtula life and I need to be careful with what I choose to do. God wants us to be Holy and follow Him, and He doesn’t want us to go down the path of sin when we have heaven waiting for us.
i can apply this to my life by reading the bible, and asking the holy spirit to guide me.
I can apply this to my life by apologizing and going to confession more often. We should try to get rid of our bad habits and replace them with the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. We know that we sin and we still never go to confession. We should change this, and apologize to those whom we hurt. We should repent and ask for forgiveness and then, we will be a better disciple of Christ.
This scripture means, to me, that when we go against the will of God and the Holy Trinity, we will suffer the consequences, which is not inhereting the Kingdom of God. God only wants the best for you, and he does not want you to have this consequence. This, in a way, can be translated into daily life by thinking, if we do not listen to our parents, and do not do what they ask of you, you will have consequences, some worse than others. Your parents, just like God, only want the best for you and we can do God’s will by recognizing and trying to exibit the 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit.
The Gospile is saying that in order to enter the kingdom of Heaven we must first let the Holy Spirit into our haerts and produse his fruits and live hormoniasly in heaven with Jesus.
In todays scriputre it is telling us that if we follow the fruits of the holy spirit then we will the best and eternal life. Us as humans have struggles and we are imperfect but if we just follow the way of the fruits of the holy spirit we will be not lead the life of sin and we will be happy for the rest of our lives.
In the scriptures today he is saying that if we follow the fruits of the Holy Spirit and have the peace and joy of life we will live in the Kingdom of heaven with God. Now if we don’t follw them and we follow the opposite of what God is asking then we will not have the great life that God wants us to have. This is on us to choose if we want God in our lives or if we don’t. If we want him we need to talk to every day ans listen to him he loves us so much.
I can apply this scripture to my life by knowing that God is with me and he wants to guid me to heaven. We can get to heaven by doing thing that we know are good for us and others. We need to look at our selves and become what is right, not what others want us to be. We can also start doing things in our lives that we know are showing the fruits of the holy spirit.
A lot of times I think we look at the bible as a set of rules that you have to follow in order to go to heaven. In a way they kind of are, but at the same time doing the acts of Jesus and the Holy Spirit is not you following laws. Jesus said “Brothers and Sisters, If you are guided by the Holy Spirit, you are not under the law.”. The Holy Spirit isn’t forcing us, He is guiding us. Law has a negative connotation and makes it sound like we have to do this exactly right or their will be consequences, but that is not true. The Lord is just asking us to follow His teaching as best as we can.
I can reflect on this Gospel because it tells us we have to be all loving and praising of God to get to heaven. God gave us rules to follow in case we strayed from his path, which we do, and allows us to come back to him and beg for mercy. he forgives us and allows us to follow him once again and get to heaven.
Our choices really matter, every choice we make has its consequence or its benefit. So even if its just something small it still might matter. We think everything won’t have much effect on us but it probably will, so stop and think about it first. If we listen to the fruits and make the right choices we can start our path to Heaven.
Jesus is telling us that we need the Holy Spirit to get to heaven. We need to follow the fuits of the Holy Spirit. If you don’t follow the fruits , there will be no law in your life, it will just be a mess, with no order.
Now a days some people are saying that all you have to do to get to heaven is beleive in God, that you dont have to follow the set of “rules” as they like to call it, to get to heaven. But today we read that we must be humble, and filled with the lord. Suffering brings joy. And to those who do not enjoy giving things up for the lord, or just arn’t a very good person. They aren’t gonna enjoy their sacrifice of suffering to be clean when reunited with the one holy God one bit. And to them I say “I pray for you”.
