Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem,
he took the Twelve disciples aside by themselves,
and said to them on the way,
“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem,
and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests
and the scribes,
and they will condemn him to death,
and hand him over to the Gentiles
to be mocked and scourged and crucified,
and he will be raised on the third day.”
Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee approached Jesus with her sons
and did him homage, wishing to ask him for something.
He said to her, “What do you wish?”
She answered him,
“Command that these two sons of mine sit,
one at your right and the other at your left, in your kingdom.”
Jesus said in reply,
“You do not know what you are asking.
Can you drink the chalice that I am going to drink?”
They said to him, “We can.”
He replied,
“My chalice you will indeed drink,
but to sit at my right and at my left,
this is not mine to give
but is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”
When the ten heard this,
they became indignant at the two brothers.
But Jesus summoned them and said,
“You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them,
and the great ones make their authority over them felt.
But it shall not be so among you.
Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant;
whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.
Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve
and to give his life as a ransom for many.” MT 20:17-28
If Jesus asked you, “What do you wish for?”, what would be your response? In this case it was for a high seat of honor by a mother for her sons. Jesus teaches us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. Why? “The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Pride is putting everyone else down to lift yourself up, pointing everyone else’s faults out to hide your own, putting down those with less intelligence to boost your own. Jesus is the opposite of pride in the highest degree. He is “meek and humble of heart”. He is gentle and gives totally and completely of Himself.
The Nativity reminds us of how humble God is. God, who created the world out of nothing with just His Words, the most intelligent and powerful being, came to us in a cave with animal dung around Him completely vulnerable needing two humans to take care of Him. He needed them to clothe and feed Him being dependent on these two wonderful humans. There is no greater self-sacrifice then this. There is no way we can match this humility.
He continues this humility by giving Himself totally and completely hidden behind bread and wine to transform us with His grace and love until He returns. When is the last time you became completely vulnerable and gave up yourself totally and completely for another. Subdue your pride, put on a meek and humble heart, and serve those God has put in your life. Put love into each action. Do not complain but count your blessings. Stop judging and start helping. Serve. This is the heart of Christ, “love one another as I have loved you”.
We are called to imitate Christ. If everyone did this (starting with myself), it would be the greatest revolution the planet has ever seen. Following Jesus is hard, but the rewards are eternal! Be a servant, become a saint!
Today’s challenge: Be a servant, become a saint! Enter each room and ask how you can help. Put others before self out of love. I bet you will be filled with joy even though you gave up what you wanted or you will at least have a new perspective.
Be a servant, become a saint!

What the scripture is telling me is that there are 2 things we must keep holy in our life, it mentions “2” a lot which means Jesus is saying we must keep 2 things holy. I can’t reflect off this much more.
The Gospel says today that we need to follow Jesus to Jerusalem. It also says that we need to drink from the chalice of life. Then we will be saved from all our sin because Jesus died on the cross for all our and those of the hole world.
This means that God has to be served.
God tells us that we are called to imitate Christ. He wants us to not be like him but to act and live like him. He wants us to help people out in times of struggle.
The scripture today was very meaningful to me. I think the main message of the scripture today is that we all need to sacrifice. Some of us always want everything to go our way and for us to get everything we want. But, as it said in the scripture, we need to serve, not plan on being served. Our lives are meant to be given away and Jesus showed us that for dying on the cross for every single one of us. During this time of Lent, lets try to sacrifice something or help someone everyday because our lives are truly meant to be given away.
In this gospel, the mother wanted her sons to have very high seats next to the Lord in heaven, but Jesus told her no. “This is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.” Jesus is not only telling us that we cannot be making the Father’s will, but also telling us to not be mean to those who make those mistakes and want to be high as the two brothers were, for we are all broken and need a Savior. Jesus came to set an example of humbleness and service to others, which is not to be covered by pride, greed, or only thinking about ourselves today.
What stood out to me was, “Command that these two sons of mine sit.” I think this means that Jesus will sit at the right hand of the father and that the Holy Spirit will sit with them. God is good all the time; all the time God is good.
This scripture reflects on how Jesus didn’t come to be praised by the people, but to serve others and to save us from our sins. He knows that everything He does is for our heavenly Father, and that is why we praise. To put ourselves aside and think of what a great thing Jesus has done for us because He loves us.
Jesus continues to give Himself to us every time we go to mass. We should be grateful that our God is so gracious and kind.
I think scripture is saying that we need to stop being so selfish and caught up in social media, but to focus on the actual important stuff (God). When was the last time you did something for someone else and did not just focus on your own personal gain. We just go through the motions everyday and think we are going to get to go to Heaven. We must build a personal relationship with God to reach real happiness.
This scripture is our reminder to be humble and have humility. We must not always expect the best, and accept what is given to us.
Jesus didn’t need to come down to Earth. He was doing it for us. And when He came down, He could’ve been an earthly king and live a fine life in a palace. But He didn’t, because He wanted to give us a good example of how to serve others and give up ourselves for their sake. So we should follow the example He gave us as best we can in our daily lives, instead of thinking only about ourselves and the things we want but don’t need.
I think today’s Scripture teaches us that Jesus came to save us. He saved us even when we sinned. Jesus died on a cross for us . That show us how much Jesus sacrificed for us. Jesus gave his entire life so that we could have eternal life.
I think that this Gospel reading is telling us why we need to read the Bible and be knowledgeable in our faith. In this scripture passage, Jesus tells the disciples, in perfect detail, the story of his Passion, Death, and Resurrection. Of course, the disciples didn’t realize this at the time but once all of these things that he prophesied came true, they realized that they should’ve paid more attention to what he said and what the Old Testament said because it tells you the secrets of life. When we read the Bible, God reveals to us how He wants to live so when we read the Bible more, we learn the Way to live. All of these reflections we have been doing of the Gospels have been teaching us how to live the way Jesus wants so we should keep reading the Bible and reflecting over it, even if we aren’t reminded to every day.
I think today’s scripture passage is trying to tell us that God gave himself up for all of us. Jesus wants us to be like him by making sacrifices for Him and others.
I think that this scripture passage is trying to tell me that I should put others before myself. Jesus always put others before himself, he literally died for us. I think that to prevent being selfish we can do little things like help a sibling or do a chore before we are told to. It’s the little things in our life that we do that add up to living a holy life.
I think that the Scripture is telling us to always be ready for God to come and be ready to do what he has planned for us.
Jesus did not wish to be serve but to serve as our teacher. We expect all of the worldly things and for people to serve us and to do what we want. What about what God wants from us? Do we live our lives like we want to or do we want? God wanted to serve, yet he asks us to submit ourselves to Him and let him “control” our lives. Seems like they go against each other right? God wants us to live good, holy lives, so He wants to guide us. How is this Him serving us? He is serving by helping and guiding us to the right path.
I think this Gospel tells us that we should not ask for things that should belong to us. God knows what is best for us and we should trust that Him. God has prepared a special place for us.
We need to humble ourselves and be more grateful for Jesus saving us. God loved us so much so we need to appreciate it.
I think this is saying we must not expect something every time we do something good or kind for someone else. Yes, we can get a reward out of it but we shouldn’t expect it every time.
This Gospel passage is saying that everything and anything God does is not for Himself, but for us and our Heavenly Father. He wants us to try and follow in His footsteps and not do things for ourselves, but for others and our Heavenly Father.
Jesus knows what is going to happening during his death, and he still does it. His apostles don’t fully understand what is going to happen. Jesus sacrificed himself for the salvation of the whole world.
In today’s gospel Jesus is testing his Apostles, he literally tells them that he is going to die, and then the two brother ask to sit beside him, and he asks them if they are willing to die, this is the brothers’ test. But the other test is for the other Apostles, which they fail, they try to enforce authority over each other, this is our human pride, we always want to be the best, but to be the best we have to give ourselves up for each other.
Today. Jesus is telling us about Heaven. He says that he cannot command who sits at his right and left, but only his father can. I believe this means that only the Father can decide who comes into Heaven with him and who leaves for Hell
I think the scripture is saying that no matter how important you are you have to help others. No matter what level of wealth and knowledge you should always be kind to others.
This Scripture reminded me that Jesus always comes first, others always come second, and myself always should come last. Sometimes I get full of myself and think I should be taken care of but I should be following Jesus’s footsteps and serving others. God teaches us how to be good people especially in this Gospel. He says, “The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
We should put others before ourselves so we don’t be selfish. He also died for us and our sins which is unbelievable for us.
In today’s Scripture Jesus makes a point in saying that He did not come to be served, but to serve. I think that we can all strive to let ourselves be humbled and to be the center of attention all the time and instead try to cater more to other peoples needs when you see someone struggling.
I think the scriptures is saying that God will keep on giving himself tell you make it to heaven. When he gives himself to you ,you should give yourself to him.
I think it is saying that Jesus is willing to be mocked and killed. He did this so that we may be with him in heaven with our sin. Jesus knew the only way we would make it to heaven was if he died on the cross.
what im getting from this is that we are to obey God in everything. We might bought Him but He knows whats good for us and whats bad.
Sometimes we forget about how much Jesus did for us and the extent of it. We forget what He suffered through being scorned, tortured, and laughed at. He had to go through unimaginable pain, and died for us. We should never expect to be right beside Him, but we should always hope to be close by.
This verse stuck out to me: “My chalice you will indeed drink, but to sit at my right and at my left, this is not mine to give but is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.” I find it interesting that Jesus says that whoever sits at his right hand is not for him to choose. He says it is for who the Father chooses.
At the beginning of the gospel today Jesus predicts his death. I take this as a reminder that we are in lent and that Jesus will die soon. We must stay strong with prayer.
God gave his only son for us to realize, God wants us to carry his word. To show the world what true love is. To show them the truth. To realize what we actually have, and to be grateful for it.
Jesus is saying how we should put others before ourselves. Jesus came down to Earth for every single one of us. He died on the cross for everybody in the world. He put the whole world before himself.
what I think it is saying is that Jesus is always giving himself to us in our everyday lives and when we go to mass. we should be giving ourselves to him also especially during this Lenten season.
Jesus is here to help get to heaven and that Jesus does all that he can do for us. What we can do for Him is to serve him and do what he wants us to do.
In this passage I think that it is trying to show me that God dint have to come and sacrifice his only son for us that he chose even though we didn’t deserve it.
This Scripture passage is saying that we need to be humble, and to give up all we have and follow Christ. “Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave.” We shouldn’t let our ego get too big, we need to learn to be silent. God talks to us when we are listening and how can we listen if we are not hearing him? We need to learn to live life silently so that we can listen to see what God wants us to do with our lives.
I think the scripture is telling us to acts like God. To put others before myself and to treat others with kindness.
In this Gospel I got that Jesus surrendered for us and let other people hit and spit on Him for US. Jesus says we are going up to Jerusalem and you will watch your Father get whipped and spit on. To me this Gospel means that Jesus gives up so much stuff for US and some people don’t get this.
“Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Jesus gave up his life for us, Jesus had all the power in the world he did not choose to be some king that everyone worked for and served for but he gave himself up for other people that really needed help the most.
In this scripture, we should trust God and all of his plans. We shall never doubt in him and never question him. Jesus became man to die and save us and he would do it again and again, which shows us the love of the true God. Though, we cannot just sit back and relax, we have to spread the word of God to the world.
“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death. this is what God will do he will be the judge of us in the afterlife
I think that this scripture passage is saying that God didn’t have to come down to Earth. But He loved us enough to come down.
This scripture is telling me that we must bear up our cross to go to heaven. When the mother made a wish for her 2 children to sit at the left and right hand of Jesus, he simply told them no and gave them a reason. He also asked them if they were willing to take up his cup. We must also take up our cup for Jesus.
Careful what you wish. Some things you get, some you don’t, and some are reversed. Wishes are one factor to get you where you are when you die.
God, The creator of worlds, savior of the universe, came to Earth to serve us. Think about it, he endured terrible physical and mental pain to save us from death. And he did with love and obedience to his heavenly Father. Why shouldn’t we, lowly and unimportant serve one another? Let Jesus be an example for all of us to serve our neighbors around us.

And he did with love and obedience to his heavenly Father. Why shouldn’t we, lowly and unimportant serve one another? Let Jesus be an example for all of us to serve our neighbors around us.
If we want to truly live like Jesus, we have to not be served by others, but to serve them. We have to serve others if we wish to be great.
I think this scripture passage is telling us that God came to earth to save and serve us as our creator. And we should 100% agknowledge that God had no much suffering and hurting that we could not imagine and we need to thank him for that.
I think this Gospel is telling us to trust and believe in God. We need to be more like the lady with her sons. She believed in Jesus to help her sons get to Heaven and we need to be more like her.
Today’s Scripture passage is saying that we should be kind to others and makes sacrifices to help others. By being humble we become more like Christ. We should strive to be kind and caring in all situations. We should continue our journey to treat others like Jesus would.
The scripture is telling me that we need to slow down and think of everything he did for us throughout the 40 days and 40 nights. Its hard enough for us to fast from eating, phones, video games, ect. We need to always remember to pray to the Lord.
I think this gospel is meant to trust and to listen to God. Because what he tells you to do is what he will ask you at the gates of heaven on judgement day. Only doing what he tells you will get you into heavan
I think this gospel is meant to trust and to listen to God. Because what he tells you to do is what he will ask you at the gates of heaven on judgement day. Only doing what he tells you will get you into heaven.
What I think this is saying is that we were created to praise and love God. He is the reason we are here and we wouldn’t be here without him dying for us.
This scripture is talking about how we should obey God. Jesus did what he could do let us get to heaven now we have to finish that promise and get ourselves to heaven.
Jesus came to serve not to be served, so we should serve others, not expect to be served.
The scripture is saying that God is doing so much and sacrificed so much for us just to turn away from him. The LEAST we can do is obey his commandments and care for others. We should love him above all but we still put other things before him.
Jesus who is the son of God came to serve us, not to be served. We should live by this, because we should serve others and not expect anything in return.
To e this means God when talking about His Son Jesus Christ he is saying that Jesus did not come to earth to be served like a king and get all of this fancy stuff but instead to die like a king and be a servant of God and Die on the Cross for the Lord.
Jesus served all of us because he died on the Cross and forgave all our sins. We should serve others and not expect to get anything back from doing but to do it from the kindness of our hearts
When Jesus asks what do you wish for we need to think about that. We Know what we need to wish for but is that what we really want. If it’s not we need to strive to achieve it.
It tells me that God is the most high and most powerful. I need to respect Him, believing in Him is one thing that will help me and everyone else. Heaven is our main goal and something we always strive for, so we have to pray and believe.
I think that in this scripture Jesus was telling all of His disciples that he was going into Jerusalem and for them to be ready for Him to preach and I think that this is like when Jesus is telling us to be ready for the day that He will come again.
This passage means that we should not judge those try to put themselves above others, because a lot of the time, they feel like they have to prove themselves to either their parents or their friends that they are actually smart and are their own person because they feel like they are compared to their siblings or their friends all the time. Who knows why they do what they do. But it is not our place to judge them for it.
Jesus gives us a great lesson today. The two brothers are seeking to be better than everyone else and be almost equal to God but they find themselves rejected. For God will reject those who are prideful and ignorant. Behold the first shall be last and the last shall be first. Me and many others struggle with this because we want to be the best. We want people to look at us and think we are number one, but no matter how hard we try God will always be better than us. So instead lift other people up above you and lower yourself below them.
Today’s Scripture stuck out to me. When Jesus said “Can you drink the chalice that I am going to drink?” He is asking can you sacrifice for me? “but is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.” This is my Fathers will.
Sacrifice for God with things such as giving up social media or video games for lent or taking cold showers on Fridays. We sacrifice things for him because he gave it all for us and we can never pay it back, but we can let him into our hearts and go to heaven.
I think the scripture today says that if we want to go to heaven we must give our life to god.
We need to obey God. Jesus gave us the opportunity to get to Heaven and now we have to finish what He gave us.
Jesus died on the cross for us. So that all of our sins will be forgiven. Jesus knew what he was going to go though but he did it anyway so he could save us. It’s OK to make sacrifices. Jesus made a huge sacrifice so we could live in holiness.
