Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Six days before Passover Jesus came to Bethany,
where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.
They gave a dinner for him there, and Martha served,
while Lazarus was one of those reclining at table with him.
Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil
made from genuine aromatic nard
and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair;
the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
Then Judas the Iscariot, one of his disciples,
and the one who would betray him, said,
“Why was this oil not sold for three hundred days’ wages
and given to the poor?”
He said this not because he cared about the poor
but because he was a thief and held the money bag
and used to steal the contributions.
So Jesus said, “Leave her alone.
Let her keep this for the day of my burial.
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
The large crowd of the Jews found out that he was there and came,
not only because of him, but also to see Lazarus,
whom he had raised from the dead.
And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too,
because many of the Jews were turning away
and believing in Jesus because of him. JN 12:1-11
Mary, Martha, and Lazarus are Jesus’s best friends. Jesus decides to spend some of His last days with those closest to Him while on earth. During this Holy Week, take time to read the Passion again and find a book that explains it. It is wise also to read about what happened to a victim of Roman crucifixion, so we can see what Christ endured for our sins. Jesus, the God Man is about to leave this earth and fulfill His mission of dying for our sins and most importantly resurrecting. Before our death, we will want to leave our best advice behind to our family members. Jesus is no exception. Some of His greatest teachings come from Holy Week and His family is all of humanity.
His Words are very important and should be taken to heart. Write them down and keep them some place to reread throughout the year, not just Lent. Fast every Friday throughout the year to remember this Holy Week, especially Good Friday (This is required for all Catholics, not optional). Do the Stations of the Cross with great devotion every Friday throughout the year to remember Christ’s Passion and Death. Go to Mass every Sunday, it is a mini-Easter to remember Christ’s resurrection. Go to Mass every day if possible to allow God to bring you back to the foot of the Cross; what was present in history is now present in mystery. Be transformed by Jesus in the Eucharist.
Find a book on the Passion of Christ and read it every Friday throughout the year. If you study and gain knowledge of Christ and His Passion, you will begin to understand His love for you. When you begin to understand His love for you, you will desire to love Him back more than anything in this world. Then, you will start fighting sin and desire a resolute heart. Your eyes will always be set on heaven and not things of the earth. You will desire to pray without ceasing. The saints were all transformed at the foot of the cross. Allow God to love you, it is His greatest desire. How do we know? He gave up His life for each of us, total self-sacrifice. We, in turn, give up our lives for others.
In Peter Kreeft’s book “Jesus Shock”, he talks about adoration. He uses today’s Gospel as defining adoration. Mary was a prostitute and had earned her money giving her body to men. She didn’t care as much about the acts, but the money so she could have more stuff. When she repents and follows Jesus, she recognizes “stuff” doesn’t matter. She gives up an entire year’s wages to buy the perfume she pours on Jesus. She adores Jesus with her whole self and holds nothing back with her material goods. At the sight of true adoration, Kreeft says Judas cannot take it. This is when the devil enters his heart and he goes to betray Jesus. When we see someone give themselves up totally and completely to do what they were made for, adore their God, we either follow or run. Jesus forces us to make a decision.
Are you really all in with Jesus? I have work to do, too. May we continue to strive to be more like Mary and give all! This Holy Week is a good time to commit, repent, and strive even harder.
Today’s challenge: Pray. Ask Jesus to reveal His heart to you during this Holy Week. Fast, suffer, offer your suffering up with Christ’s suffering, prepare for joy. Reread the Passion in the Scriptures each day this week and reflect on it, put yourself into the Passion with Christ. What is dominating your thoughts? Give it to Jesus this week and trust that He will take care of it.

This scripture is telling us not to be greedy. We should be thankful for what we have.
I think this is saying that we should/need to be paying more attention to Jesus and his message that he’s trying to give to us. We’re too distracted by everything else going on in our lives, so we need to try to prepare ourselves for Jesus’s coming, instead of worrying about other things above him.
This shows us that if you are willing to throw away your dignity like woman who washed Jesus’ hair, you can end up in Heaven.
This scripture is about Jesus being able to heal. Jesus can heal if we pray to him and ask for the things we need. Jesus is filled with power he is the only one who can heal. He loves us so much that he died for us and will do anything for us.
Martha shows us how to serve Jesus. She uses her expensive oils to anoint him and she serves him. Jesus is always serving others, but Martha is one who took the time to serve Him.
The chief priests planned to kill Lazarus. That shows just how evil the priests were willing to be. It shows just how deep into jealousy they were. How corrupted they became, even before they killed Jesus. They were willing to kill the man of a miracle. He was dead and was raised again into life and they wanted to end that. The Pharisees were insane.
Jesus may not always be there physically but He’s always there spiritually for us. He is present physically in communion which is why it’s so special and sacred. We have to be respectful and reverent with communion because its the body of Jesus. He is always there for us.
We are called to serve. Jesus served all of those around Him by giving them comfort. We need to try to be like Jesus. That includes helping others when they need help, and just being there whenever someone needs us.
Jesus shall be taken serious and His will for others, He shall bring us to heaven and have us do things for God.
This tells me we need to give everything to God because we never fully trust him. We need to trust him with everything and let him give us a path to go to heaven instead of pushing him away.
Mary had her priorities straight. She gave Jesus her very expensive oil. We should put God ahead of our own money, and give to the poor.
God cares for all and want the good. when God wills the good he is looking at your best interest. The devil tries to make you think that God only cares about himself but it is the opposite. The devil only cares about your suffering and want humanity to suffer
Mary had brought oil, poured it over Jesus’ feet, and dried it with her hair. She did this to show her love for Jesus. Then Judas told her to save the oil, sell it, and give the money to the poor. Jesus said that she sould keep the oil but save it for His burial.
Today, Jesus teaches us not to be greedy. Jesus surely knew that Judas didn’t care about the poor at all, but just wanted to keep the money for himself. Instead we should give everything to God. Jesus has told us in Gospels before to give all that we have. We don’t need so many worldly things, Hard as it may be.
When we sin, we betray the Lord. Those very sins are with Him on the cross. He bares them with love and does not hold them against us. Instead, He carries the cross for us, the cross we deserve. Let us love like He did.
What I got out of this gospel today is that if we are Catholic, then we need to accept the rules of being Catholic. We need to go to Mass on the days that we are suppose to, we should follow what the bible taught us, and we shouldn’t pick and choose what we want to believe and what God teaches us. If we are Catholic we need to be full heart Catholics and not half heart ones.
You should thank Jesus for everything he does for you.
In the Gospel Jesus says that Judas needs to have Him in his life. We need to treat people respectfully but we also need to respect Jesus. If we don’t respect him the devil will come and take control of us.
The fact that Judas asked Jesus why the perfume wasn’t given to the poor but instead used for Jesus was very disturbing to me, because he did not ask for the poor, but for himself. I find this part sad, and hypocritical as well.
What reached out to me was when Jesus said, “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” What this means to me is that Jesus isn’t around for us to be kind to, but there are always people out in the world that need to be shown kindness, and be cared for.
Today Jesus says that we will always have the poor, but not always Him. We need to treat the Lord like it is our last day. We need to be like Mary and give something to the Lord. Not a wimpy thing, but something that means a lot to us.
What Jesus says is the Truth. He knows everything. he knows if we are being honest, kind, or brave. We have to respect Jesus because He is the living God.
In today’s scripture Jesus shows us how much He cared for His mom. He was also telling us that He was going to die very very soon. He says to save the money for His burial, which is telling us He will be dying soon.
In todays reading Jesus says “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” I think this stuck out to me because its kinda true but not all the way . We always have Jesus in the flesh during communion and during prayer. As well as the first line is also very true because there will always be someone that is struggling whether physical or mental.
This Gospel tells us to put Jesus in the center of our lives. Jesus says, “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” Jesus knew that His time was about to come for Him to suffer and die. We should also not be selfish like Judas.
In today’s reading Jesus says “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” I think this stuck out to me because its kinda true but not all the way . We always have Jesus in the flesh during communion and during prayer. As well as the first line is also very true because there will always be someone that is struggling whether physical or mental.
This scripture is saying that during Jesus finals days he decide to go to Bethany to visit his friend Lazarus. Martha, Lazarus´ sister, gave him dinner. Mary then took an oil perfumery that was expensive and put it on Jesus feet and Judas was angry like why didn’t you give to the poor because Jesus cared about the poor and its saying like how we should´t get attached to things of earth.
Jesus spent his time with his friends and family before he died. We can take this as a sign to spend time with the people we love most. Our life here doesn’t last forever so its important to make the most of it like Jesus.
Jesus tells them that they will always have the poor but not always have him. Jesus is telling those closest to him that he will leave this earthly plain very soon.
What stood out to me was, “LEAVE HER ALONE. LET HER KEEP THIS FOR THE DAY OF MY BURIAL. YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH YOU, BUT YOU DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE ME.” It stood out to me because we should treasure the things that we have because God will be there but if you chose to take him out of your life then you won’t have Him. God is important in our lives in so many ways.
Jesus has a special relationship with us. He loves us so much and cares for us, just like a best friend. He raised Lazarus from the dead because he was one of His best friends and cared for him. We must let Jesus save us and He will grant us eternal life in Heaven
We all have each other. Sometimes we don’t need Jesus to solve our problems but each other or maybe even our own selves. Jesus isn’t going to solve everything for us because we won’t learn how to do it ourselves.
When Jesus wanted to spend His last few days on earth with His best friends, it really showed me that we need to be grateful for the people that actually care about us and not take our friendships and relationships for granted, but instead enjoy them because we never know when something could happen.
I think this scripture is telling us to either write down God’s words or to keep them in our heart so that we always remember them and have them with us. God’s words are life and will help us get past anything
I think that this is saying that God is with us and if we need to come to Him for anything He is right there ready to see you. God watches over us and makes sure we know He is there.
I think today’s scripture passage is trying to tell us that we need to be kind to people. That includes being kind to Jesus. We need to continue to pray an talk to him and obey him.
In this scripture i beleive jesus tells him of his deth and how he dies how he will find out.
“You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” this is one of many of Jesus’s hints to us telling us that He is going to die. I know everyone will die eventually, but He tells them other times He will rise. We should dig deep into His word’s because they all a a special meaning to it.
“Leave her alone. Let her keep this for the day of my burial.” Here, Jesus is saying plainly that He will die. He also told the thief to let the woman keep the oil so she could use it on His body when preparing it to be buried. In my opinion, Jesus is making it obvious that He will die and that He will get buried soon. Who can just predict their death when their death is to get crucified? Certainly not an ordinary man. Jesus is human and divine.
Jesus says he will not always be here on Earth. He says the poor will. In Scripture, Jesus reveals himself to us. If we are willing, we will see that because Jesus won’t keep anything from us.
If you want to get to heaven you have to put God first. Jesus should be the number one in out life. we should always put God first if we don’t then there will be consequences in the future. You never know when the time will come so you always have to be prepared.
Mary was humble. She recognized where she was in the grand scheme of the universe and became humble. She anointed Jesus’ feet and wiped them with her hair. We need to follow her example and be humble in the face of God.
In Scripture, many of the Jews were turning away and believing in Jesus because of Lazarus. Lazarus was raised from the dead by Jesus. This foreshadowed Jesus resurrection. If many people were believing in Jesus because of Lazarus, then many people will believe in Jesus because of His Resurrection.
“LEAVE HER ALONE. LET HER KEEP THIS FOR THE DAY OF MY BURIAL. YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE POOR WITH YOU, BUT YOU DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE ME.” God is telling us that we need to be ready for the day of his arrival. One day He will come again and He will see all the sin that is in the world. He doesn’t want us to suffer so He will tell us to go to confession, some of us will while others of us won’t.
Today, Jesus refutes Judas who wonders why she doesn’t sell her oil. Why doesn’t she? She could make lots of money, she could be rich, but instead she keeps it to anoint the feet of Jesus. Jesus tells him to leave her alone, that this is a day of burial, and that even though Judas is poor, that does not mean he has Jesus f
Nothing is impossible with God. God, in this passage raised the dead. Lazaras was dead but Jesus raised him. If we accept God into our hearts, we will ask and we shall receive. Nothing is too hard when God is guiding us.
Today we see that Jesus spends time with the people He helped and He understands them. He stood up for Mary when He knew her intention. Jesus always wills our good and never stops. He knows our intention, even if we don’t, or don’t think He knows. God knows everything, which is very hard to understand sometimes, but always is there to help us. We have to remember this when preparing for the triduum.
We need to appreciate what we have. Some people will never get the chance to live the kind of life we do and yet we complain about how hard our lives are. We have it pretty easy in most ways, we need to take a moment to think about all we have.
So many people doubted Jesus and did not believe in him. Most of the Gospels lately have been abut believing in Jesus and our faith, and Jesus has it like that for a reason. Our faith as we are ending Lent needs to be stronger and finish hard and keep praying and listening to our Lord.
I think that this is saying Jesus will always be there for us, but things that we think make us happy like electronics, will not always be there. We need to rely on Jesus to make us happy, not electronics.
Jesus showed his human side. Before he died he hung out with people closest to him. Jesus knew Judas was going to betray him. Jesus did not do anything. Jesus could have turned the apostles against Judas. But Jesus knew what he had to do and was merciful.
Today Jesus says, “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” In modern times, we do not have Jesus with us the way they did when Jesus was living on Earth long ago. We have the Eucharist and God is always with us, but it is not the exact same. But we do still have the poor. We should help them whenever we can.
Many people would go so far to just prove Jesus wrong. When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead and when everyone saw, they started to follow Jesus. Chief priests were envious and they also plotted to kill Lazarus when they saw that people were slowly converting to follow Jesus. God taught us that we should love everyone and we should take that into consideration.
God cares about everyone and wants us all to live a happy and holy life. God love’s each one of us and is gonna guide us to do what is right. We need to always be listening to what God is trying to tell us so we can live the best life we can.
Jesus went to spend His final days with His friends. He had just raised Lazarus from the dead. Mary washed his feet with expensive oil and dried them with her hair. Judas asked why they didn’t sell it for money for the poor but his real intentions were to steal some money. Jesus replied that they will always have the poor but not always Himself. We do always have the poor. Give to them when we can. But save a little for Jesus. Go to Jesus. Wash his feet. Do little things. For the love of Jesus is never ending.
You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” The Lord wants us to love him and give our all, we just have to commit and avoid temptation. We have to be prepared and ready for the Lords coming.
In this scripture Jesus spends His final days on earth. He spends that time with his closest friends and talking to large crowds. It was with one of these large crowds that Jesus said, “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” He meant that He will not always be with them and the poor will be with them.
In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us to find a book and read about Him. WE the people need to pick up the Bible or a Holy book and read it more and learn more about Jesus. I myself need to work on this and spend more time with Jesus.
This scripture is talking about how we need to care for the poor and not waste is on not so useful products like it is mentioned in the scripture reflection. We need to spend and give money towards charity and stuff to help the homeless
We need to always have faith in God because he loves us and we should love him. All of the things he has done like obviously he created everything and he sent his only son to die for us
We need to have something to remember our faith, our love in Jesus. A cross is good but more is always accepted
What the gospel is telling me that Jesus is going to be risen in six days. So leading up to those six days we need to prepare ourselves for him. We also need to give to the poor. Give old toys or clothes to them that they will enjoy. We need to give back just like Jesus gave to us.
To me this means that God is saying to us that we need to stop hurting or threatening women and need to start protecting them from bad people just like God tells us to.
To me this Scripture is saying that we have the opportunity every day (many times) to either spend our time bullying the poor (innocent) or spreading the Word of God (Evangelizing). Every time we choose to bully the poor instead of be a friend to them, we are sinning. We don’t think it’s sinning, because we don’t think about our actions very much, but it is, and it hurt that person. This is not how Jesus taught us to live.
Jesus is worth everything and we should be willing to give our most valuable possessions for him. We need to tell Jesus here I am down on my knees again giving it all surrendering all. Find me here Lord as you draw me near i’m desperate for you. Drench my soul as mercy and grace unfold i hunger and thirst. With arms stretched wide I know you hear me cry speak to me know.
The oil is preparing for Jesus’s death. Jesus brought back Lazaruth, and many Jews saw that he was alive. This is showing the power of Christ. This power also leads to his death, but without His death and the power we wouldn’t be in this faith today.
In today’s scripture, Mary took a bottle of very expensive perfume and used it to wash Jesus’s feet. Since it was so expensive I would probably be very hesitant in using it. But the perfume is a worldly item. We will not be able o take it with us when we die. It is important to leave behind our worldly things because in the end the won’t even matter.
I think that this reading was kind of the first time that Judas was regarded as not being a good person. We all know the story of how Judas turned Jesus into the officials but what we don’t hear a lot about is how Judas would take from the money bag to keep for himself. These small little thefts led up to bigger and bigger crimes until eventually he betrayed the only man that never did anything wrong to him. When we let ourselves get used to sin, it becomes a habit until we cannot stop sinning. Even if it starts out small like cheating on your homework or a test, it can become very extreme if you don’t realize what we are doing and stop ourselves. Many of us have already gotten dragged into lots of little sins and if we don’t stop ourselves before it is too late, then we run the risk of losing our love for God.
In Today’s Scripture Jesus talks about how he went to Bethany and met Lazarus and he rose Lazarus from the dead and He met with him and doing so a woman came up to Jesus with a very expensive Oil/Perfume and she poured it on His feet and she dried it with her hair. In doing so she used her money on Jesus in a way.
In this scripture we see great kindness in Mary cleaned Jesus’s feet with costly perfume. We need to treat Jesus like this because He is a King.
I believe that this means that even if we feel like someone should do something better with their money or their time, we shouldn’t speak out about it, because maybe it’s all that that particular person can do, or maybe it’s all they have time for. Everyone has different opinions on how to spend their money or their things, and we shouldn’t judge them for it.
jesu sakfi him self for us even tho we have sind a ton and hrte him
Mary took oil and washed Jesus’ feet with it and dried them with her hair. We should be like Mary, but in a different way of doing things. We should willingly serve those around us, because we are showing that we love God so much that we are taking care of His creations.
I think what Jesus did today in the Gospel was huge for us to learn from. Jesus told Judas to be quiet after he made a comment acting like he was trying to be kind but really just wanted money for himself. But what really stuck out to me was the fact that Jesus just shrugged off what Judas said. I feel like I and the rest of the world need to learn from him by just letting things go and not letting them get to us. Some people would have yelled back at him and started a fight but Jesus was just so calm about it and that’s why it stuck out to me.
Today’s scripture is very important. Today’s scripture is asking us all if we are all in Jesus. Do we truly believe in Him? We can’t think he is our God and savior then just ignore him all the time playing video games. He deserves better he is the Savior of all. He died on a cross this week for your sins, and your neighbors sins, and we just ignore Him? He should be top priority in all of our lives. We shouldn’t go a day without thinking about him. He should mean everything to us. He is all in all for us. Now you need to choose to be all in all in Him.
I think the Scripture is saying we cannot be selfish. We have so much that we can sometimes take for granted. We have to think of those who don’t have as much as we do. Even when Jesus was already poor he still gave stuff up. We can learn from that. We can learn that our lives were meant to be given away.
I think the scripture is saying that we do not need to be jealous of others belongings and we shouldn’t be no matter what. We are all deserving and undeserving of things in life, so why be jealous of the things other people may have. We all can be open to the Kingdom of Heaven but that doesn’t mean we all will accept Heaven as a place we wanna go if we do not believe in the Son and the Father.
It’s nice to see Jesus just take a break, sit down, and talk with His friends. Anyway, there’s not much for me to reflect on here.
what i think this is saying is that everyone should be treated fairly. it shouldn’t matter if you have a lot of money and live in a big house or if you have no money and are living on the streets. everyone should be treated how God would treat those people. God doesn’t care who is rich or who is poor he cares about us and who we are and who we are made to be and what we are made to do.
Even Jesus’s own mother is serving Him and it seems like it is a normal day for them because Jesus didn’t say anything like he usually does when someone is serving Him, I think that this is showing that we need to worship God more than we are right now and it is almost sad that we aren’t worshiping Him as much as the Apostles did back when He was around.
The way that Mary adored Jesus was perfect. We should go to adoration more often. This holy week you should try to go to adoration.
Today’s gospel talk about how Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Next Jesus feed Lazarus. Then Mary cleaned the feet of Jesus with oil and dried it with her hair. Finally there were some Jews came to look for Lazarus. Then the chief priest planned to kill Lazarus because the Jews were believing in Jesus
The Scripture is telling us that Mary cared for God. She took an expensive oil and put it on Jesus feet and then dried His feet with her hair instead of using a towel. This is how much we should love God.
In this scripture passage God is telling us that we need to believe in him and we will have eternal life and if we believe in him he will love us more.
He cant believe in Jesus if we don’t know him, so we need to believe and get to know him.
Jesus tells us to put Him in the center of our lives. Jesus is more important than anything else. Jesus says, “You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.” Jesus knew that he was about to suffer and die for us. We should also not be selfish like Judas. Judas is always worrying about money but we should not.
This gospel is telling us that He is truly the one and we need to put Him above everything and everyone. He will always love us and never stop. We need to show Him that we care and He does mean everything to us, and we can show that by doing the little things.
