Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus said to the Pharisees:
“There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen and dined sumptuously each day.
And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps that fell from the rich man’s table.
Dogs even used to come and lick his sores.
When the poor man died,
he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham.
The rich man also died and was buried,
and from the netherworld, where he was in torment,
he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off
and Lazarus at his side.
And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me.
Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.’
Abraham replied, ‘My child,
remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad;
but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented.
Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established
to prevent anyone from crossing
who might wish to go from our side to yours
or from your side to ours.’
He said, ‘Then I beg you, father, send him
to my father’s house,
for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them,
lest they too come to this place of torment.’
But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets.
Let them listen to them.’
He said, ‘Oh no, father Abraham,
but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
Then Abraham said,
‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets,
neither will they be persuaded
if someone should rise from the dead.’” LK 16:19-31
Jesus teaches us today what happens if we don’t bring the Gospel to people. We have one shot to get this right (#Christian YOLO). This is why God gives us time, He likes to see things grow. We may not get it right the first time and we may need more time to get it right. We are living in the end times, the times after Jesus’ resurrection. Jesus can come back at any time for the Second Coming. “If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.” We have the Word of God in the Bible, God’s breath, to teach us how to gain salvation (God’s will for us: He has one great desire, that you and I are with Him in heaven, our salvation-Pope Francis) and lead others to Christ. We have the Holy Spirit to guide us and lead us to virtue.
Today’s Gospel teaches us there are no second chances when it comes to eternal life. The time we have here is a gift. Since Jesus rose from the dead, this life is not the final horizon. We are made for a spiritual homeland. It is time to start rearranging our priorities and live putting our full trust in God. Today is a great time to rearrange priorities and dust away the cobwebs of a hardened heart. It is a time to love our soul more than our body. We cannot take THINGS, power, money, pleasure or honor (4 things we must despise that we think will make us happy-St. Thomas Aquinas). All we can take is the times we were unselfish and put others before self, the times we loved as Jesus loves us.
Today’s challenge: Live like today is your last day on earth. What would you do differently? What legacy do you want to leave behind. Most regrets on death beds are not loving as much as they should have; love of spouse, love of parents, love of children, or spending more time with God and family. Put down your electronics and spend time loving God and family. There are no second chances after we die. We don’t know the day or the hour the Master will return. We don’t know when God is going to call our number. Most importantly, He just wants to be your best friend!
Be a servant, become a saint!

What the scripture is telling me is that Lazarus is like a representation of Jesus and the rich man is the devil because the rich man didn’t give any of his scraps to him he was greedy. So we shouldn’t be like the rich man but rather be like Lazarus but not exactly like him.
The Gospel today is the story about Lazarus and the rich man. It is about Lazarus lives in the mans home and eats the craps from the rich man. Then the dogs would lick his scabs. Finally he died and he was carried away by angels then the rich man wanted his brothers to be safe from the devil. This means to me that we have to be detach from Earthly thing like our phones social media.
This means that someone is always with you.
The Scripture is telling us that just because you have a good life doesn’t mean you will be in a good place after you are dead. Don’t take what you have for advantage and listen to the scripture for you may end up in hell.
Today’s Gospel shows us that it is better to have a hard life and go to Heaven than to live a happy life but full of sin and risk losing Heaven. Whether you go to Heaven or Hell, it will be like that for eternity. However long you live, it will be nothing compared to eternity. If you go through hardships in you life and make it to Heaven, those troubles will feel like a distant memory. If you enjoy stuff from this world but live a life full of sin and go to Hell, the pleasures you had during your lifetime will not be worth being in Hell forever. We should reject the things in this world that lead to sin, so that we can be in Heaven for the rest of eternity.
I’m not really sure what this means, but I think we should give away our possessions instead of keeping for ourselves
Today’s scripture reflection means a lot to me and we should take it seriously. I think the main message it’s trying to tell us is that we need to be missionaries and spread the gospel to people that don’t know it before it’s too late. Jesus needs to be known to all as the almighty savior. We should try as often as we can to preach the gospel to those who need it and don’t understand it because that’s what we are called to do as Catholics. We might not change them but at least we tried to bring them closer to Christ.
This Gospel tells me that there is not second chances in eternal life. There is only one chance, one judgement. We need to learn that just because some people give us second chances doesn’t mean God will.
Jesus is telling us that our worldly things do not guarantee that you will get to heaven or that you will be comforted. You may be comfortable in the world with your things, but if you are not good or holy, you have no such position in Heaven unless God says you do. Your worldly things, money, will not save you from hell or get you to Heaven. What does is doing what is good and holy.
I think today’s scripture passage is trying to tell us that we should not be selfish. We shouldn’t brag about the things we have or take it for granted because some people have nothing and will be grateful to have anything at all. Even if people who don’t have many things or a lot to offer to God can’t do much to worship him, Jesus will understand that they tried their hardest.
I think this scripture is saying that God knows we will make mistakes and he will give us a little time on earth to fix them, but if we continue to follow Satan and his evil ways God cannot let us go to Heaven. We are getting to the age that we have to understand this. As you get older there are more temptations that come our way and we have to learn how to over come them.
In this gospel, Jesus shows that we have to be “all in” when it comes to eternal life. The rich man wanted to have a great, high life on earth and then when that was done, go to heaven. But Jesus tells us, it doesn’t work that way. Lazarus didn’t complain during his life on earth, but trusted in his reward. The rich man was not nice to Lazarus, but wanted what Lazarus had afterward. We cannot be the rich man and only want the easy way out. Jesus did not promise us an easy life, but gave us everything we need.
This Gospel tells us to care for sick and homeless. People who have it worse on earth will have it better in Heaven. We need to realize this and become humble. We should also learn from the people who came before us unlike the rich man. We should also repent.
We don’t have eternal life on earth, but we do in heaven, so while we are on earth, we need to do what we can so we can spend eternity in heaven.
I think this Gospel is trying to tell me not to get too full of myself and not think I’m too good for Jesus or that I don’t need God. Nobody is perfect, and everybody needs Jesus.
Scripture tells us that we shouldn’t be greedy and selfish. The rich man had food and money. Lazarus was poor and had no food. The rich man could have shared his wealth and food but kept it all for himself. Lazarus carried his cross on earth and received his reward in heaven. The rich man got what he deserved after he died. He couldn’t change that. We need to live our lives like Christ and the saints if we want to go to heaven.
I think this scripture is trying to tell us that we need to live life to the fullest and acknowledge God’s love for us. There is so much that God has given us but we often never take time to appreciate it. This includes acknowledging our loved ones. God gave us them, he wants us to spend time with them and treat them like how we would want to be treated.
Something interesting about today’s gospel is that the beggar is named, Lazarus, he is important enough to deserve his name in the Bible, but the rich man is not named, in death Lazarus is held 100 times over the rich man, the opposite of our home on Earth. “The greatest shall be least and the least greatest.”. This is Jesus telling us about our reward in heaven if we humble ourselves like Lazarus.
Today, Jesus tells us the famous story of the rich man and Lazarus. How Lazarus are scraps and the dogs licked his wounds, and how the rich man ate lots and had all he needed. Then when they died Lazarus had all he needed and ate lots, while the rich man ate scraps and dogs licked his wounds. This whole story is to tell us that the first shall be last and the last shall be first
The Rich man wanted to have a high great life on earth, but then also get to heaven. Lazarus knew that the Lord had in store a great reward if he did not complain and trusted in the Lord. What I take away from this is that you have to be all in when it comes to eternal life. You can’t treat others badly and then expect a reward afterward. You can’t only go to mass because you’re supposed to and be a devout Catholic. You have to practice and believe in your faith.
To me this Scripture is saying that living a life in comfort won’t get you to Heaven. God gave the rich man an opportunity every day to show he could be merciful and kind, but the rich man chose to live his life without showing love to the poor man. After he had died, though, he tried to be saved, but since he did not try to save the poor man from loneliness and starvation, the rich man was not saved from suffering in the flames of Hell.
I think that this reading is trying to tell us that however successful we are in our lives on Earth, has nothing to do with how successful we are in attaining eternal life. Jesus tells us this parable to explain to us that once we die, or when Jesus comes the second time, we will not have another chance to repent. There will be a chasm between the good and the bad so we need to stay like the poor man and be holy on Earth so we will get to Heaven and have infinite happiness.
That we need to go to poor and give to them so we can have life everlasting in heaven.
I think that in today’s Gospel Abraham makes a good point when the rich man asks that he send Lazarus to his brothers so that they might repent. Abraham states that if his brothers do not repent with the knowledge of Moses and the prophets, then they won’t repent if a dead man comes to them. I feel like this just reflects on how we always want more even when we are given so much, and we should try to be content with what we have.
I think it means that if you live a humble life you will be rich in heaven but if you live a rich life you will be poor in heaven. God loves everyone and wants everyone to be rich in heaven.
I think the scripture is saying that no matter our background if we do not repent and help our brothers and sisters we will not be welcomed into the house of Abraham. We will be tormented without the option of repentance.
At firsts, we may seem frustrated and even amused when thinking of this rich man who wouldn’t spare for the poor, and then suffering himself. But we forget that we’re just like him. Whether we want to admit it or not, we as humans make mistakes. Sure, we may share sometimes, but can one truly say that there was no time in their life when they did not be selfish?
If you have the chance to be kind take it. You will be rewarded. If you don’t take that chance you could be punished. Always try to do what God would do.
This scripture reflects on how we should spend our time here on earth spreading the Word, and living a holy life waiting for the second coming. Many people don’t think about how Jesus could be here tomorrow or in the next week, it’s entirely possible. We need to be ready to go to heaven anytime.
‘My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented.’ The rich man, knowing what fate his sons will have, asks to send them a warning, but he is told that they have all the messages they need, if only they would listen. Jesus is telling us that we don’t need a vision or to hear God’s voice in order to be saved. He has left us the Bible, Holy Spirit, Conscience, Sacraments, and saints. All we have to do is open our hearts to the signs.
We need to make sure we look at all the examples of God. Not just the major ones. Every sign from God is a miracle, so we have to treat it like a miracle.
The rich man’s brothers would not repent after all of the prophets and signs. Some of us have experienced Jesus and read the Bible but we still do not repent from our habitual sins. I encourage you to repent from your sins.
If we want to go to heaven we have to act like it. We can not expect good things if we are not good. We need to be good to other so we are treated goodly when we die.
what i think this is saying is that once you die there is not a way to go back and change what you did in your life. so we should be careful about things we say and our actions towards others. because one day we will not be able to fix what we have done.
It is either heaven or hell. There is no in between, but rather a chasm separating the two so no one can switch to heaven or to hell. “Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established to prevent anyone from crossing who might wish to go from our side to yours or from your side to ours.” We get a just punishment that shows if we spread the Word or if we didn’t in life. Our goal is heaven to reunite with the Father.
You can’t just focus on material things and go to heaven. You can’t just focus on Earth and expect God to do the work for you. Have you ever had a friend where you didn’t talk to or hangout or aknowledge? No because that’s not a friend! That’s just a person you kinda know. You need to put effort in, you need to pray, to love, to give and most importantly to know him.
What stood out to me was that the poor guy was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham and the rich guy was buried and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. It stood out because the poor guy was nice while the rich guy was rude and thought that he was everything. Just because you are rich doesn’t mean that you have to be mean. If I was rich I would give money to the poor and give money to animal shelters because it’s always nicer to give then not give at all.
In Today’s Gospel Jesus tells us their is not two chances for Eternal Life. WE the people need to take prayer more serious and scripture more serious because WE don’t get another chance of going to Eternal LIfe.
“If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.” God is speaking to Abraham in this Gospel when he is speaking with Lazarus. If the people do not listen to Moses, somebody that the Son of the Man sent down to teach then God should not persuade them or have people persuade them about Jesus’ rising from the dead.
This scripture is telling me to be kind to people. The rich man did not give Lazarus anything. Not even the scraps from his table. Then when they both died the rich man went to Hell and the Lazarus went to Heaven. If the rich man was kind to Lazarus he might also be in Heaven but he wasn’t.
In this scripture, we are taught to help anyone in need. If we were that person, wouldn’t we want people to help ourselves too? We saw that the rich man asked for Lazarus’s help after death, and Abraham told the rich man that he didn’t help Lazarus at all so why should he help you (In a sense). Though the rich man was rich, wealthy, many people needed his help too.
Remember YOLO. Make wise decicions, you’ll go to heaven. Make poor decicions, and you’ll go to hell. Once you die, you can’t change anything.
When the poor man died, he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried, and from the netherworld, where he was in torment, he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.’ this hit me in a different way i saw this and thought people with misfortune need help by the people that have wealth.
This Gospel tells us to care for sick and homeless. People who have it worse on earth will have it better in Heaven. We need to realize this and become humble. We should also learn from the people who came before us unlike the rich man. We should also repent.
Our lives on Earth are only temporary, but determine where we will spend eternity. Will we spend it with the Trinity, or will we spend it with the devil and his minion. It’s our choice. Choose the light over the darkness so you can spend eternity with God and his infinite love.
We only live one life and we do not live forever. When we die, we will either go to Heaven or hell. We all want to go to heaven but in order to do that, we need to take care of our souls as if it is a ’68 Camero. We need to follow ALL of God’s commandments and give love him more than anything on this planet that we own.
I think this is our call to help others. We sometimes just worry about what is going on in our lives. What about the lives of the homeless or not so gifted people. I think God is calling us to help them.
If you have a lot of stuff but don’t share it with anyone, especially those who need it, then you aren’t living your purpose. God wants us to share our stuff with others.
Today’s Scripture passage is saying that everyday is a gift to show love to those around us. We should not take things for granted, we only get one shot at eternal life. We should always try to do what is right. We should listen to what the Bible has to say to us, and we should share the Good News about God with others.
What the gospel is telling me is that we need to remember the rich and the poor, but remember to treat everyone like sons and daughters of the Christ. If one day we all want to get to heaven then we will all have to love each other whether we are alike or different we are all creations of God.
This gospel is telling us about how we should treat the rich and the poor the same. We think most of the time the homeless are bad people and way different than everyone else. But in reality they are just as same as you are. Because we where all created by God and God sees us all the same as we should see eachother.
What I think this is saying is that if we sin and don’t go to church or confess our sins we will be pulled apart from God and sent to the other side witch is hell. Are objected is to grow closer to God and love him so go to church and worship him.
I think Jesus is telling us that we need to look our for the people that are on the streets or need help with something. We need to show love to everyone cause everyone needs another chance with stuff.
Jesus could come back at any time for the second coming. And he will come when we least expect it. We have to always be ready.
To me this means that God is trying to tell us that we need to give each other space and not be bad people to those people. Because if you think about it would you want to have someone you do not know get in you face?
In today’s Scripture God telling the Pharisees a story about a rich man and poor man. I think this story says look out for people that need help. like work in the Lords Diner or give food for the ones that needs it.
‘My child, remember that you received what was good during your lifetime while Lazarus likewise received what was bad; but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented.” That quote can be good for everyone to hear. Life isn’t easy and God wants you to know that. We need to not give up but to pray about it and have faith.
‘Father Abraham, have pity on me.
Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering torment in these flames.’ I think we can all relate to this at some point in our life, when we are suffering. We need to know that God is with us, though.
I think that this scripture is really telling us to give to our neighbors what we would like to be given and the very wealthy man would not give anything to the poor man and than once it came to judgement day, The wealthy man was in torment when the poor man was in Heaven with Abraham and God.
This doesn’t mean that if we have good things in life that we will go to Hell, or that if we don’t have much that we will go to Heaven. This means that even if we are wealthy and have fine things, we still need to humble ourselves and treat others like an equal. We need to help whenever possible, because everyone has Christ in them, and who knows what they could acomplish if they had just a little bit of help to get started.
It’s telling me that if I don’t do what I need to do while I’m on earth to make me and everyone around me a good person and holier, then I could mess up the chance to go to Heaven. I can’t be to full of myself and thing I’m better than everyone and Jesus. I need to humble myself and start living a more Jesus like life.
All of the things we have on Earth don’t matter because when we go to heaven with God none of this stuff like social media and video games will matter.
Lazarus prayed everyday to God and was very close with Him. The man in purple was not close to God and cared about other things in life. We need to be more like Lazarus because even tho he didn’t have a lot of things he was closer to God than the man that had a lot of things.
I believe this scripture says that it doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor ugly or beautiful, it doesn’t matter in the end.
As the rich man sees lazarus with Moses he cries out for help. Moses says there is no way we can help you for there is a great chasm between us. The rich man had his chance when he was alive but now that he is dead he will be in hell forever. God could come at anytime, are you ready for him?
We need to treat the rich and the poor the same. Just because you have money doesn’t mean you are a good person. It seems that the poor and homeless seem to believe in God more than the rich.
Jesus returns there is no going back. We will either be cast away or we will join God in heaven. But there is no time to waist. When Jesus comes you better be ready for him because he will be ready. it is never to late to start reading the gospel and spreading Gods word.
