Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine
but does not act on them
will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” MT 7:21, 24-27
What is the “will of my Father”? What has been left behind for us to learn who we are in Christ? A person must read the Scriptures and Catechism to seek out the Truth Christ revealed about the will of the Father. Here we find what the Apostles, Paul, the holy women and saints with the guidance of the Holy Spirit have passed down in Scripture and Tradition. The Catholic Church has an unbroken link of bishops who have proclaimed the Truths Jesus revealed about the “will of my Father”. If the true intention of a person’s heart is to “enter the Kingdom of heaven”, they will seek Jesus and the Truth in the Scriptures and His life that enters them through a faithful sacramental life. Fr. Barron recommends a person look at St Paul’s reading in Galatians 5 if they want to know if they are doing God’s Will.
Freedom for Service.
[j] 13 For you were called for freedom, brothers. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather, serve[k] one another through love. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”[l] 15 But if you go on biting and devouring one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.
16 I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh.[m] 17 For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want. 18 But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 [n]Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions,21 occasions of envy,[o] drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ [Jesus] have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit. 26 Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, envious of one another. Gal 5:13-26
A person can see if they are doing God’s will in their lives if they see the fruits of the Spirit in their lives.
Since Jesus Christ died and resurrected, we receive the Holy Spirit and the grace of God floods our heart and soul to wash away Original Sin and sanctifies us, makes us holy. We are branded with Christ. Holiness is perfection in God’s eyes, not doing everything perfect, being nervous about everything, worrying about everything, planning everything perfectly, but emptying self, putting on/filling ourselves up with Christ and loving all those we encounter. Also, seeking out those who need our love outside our homes and jobs. We must be holy to enter heaven, where the holiest of holies dwells.
God is complete in Himself we cannot add anything to Him. Our lives are a complete gift, offer your life back to Him, doing His work and returning to Him sanctified like the day you were baptized. Live to give Him glory who gave us everything! When we don’t, we lose the power of the Cross, Jesus’ death and resurrection for us. When we fall away from Jesus, He does not leave us. He stays planted firmly with us, waiting for us to return ready to give us love and mercy. We have every spiritual power in us (intellect, will, memory), we have God in us in the Holy Spirit, we must take time to listen in silence each day to prepare for the battle that starts in our mind to what God has to say in our heart, then put on the armor of God and be ready for the battle to stay holy.
Today’s Advent challenge: Learn to be still. Sit in silence and listen to God in your heart. If the fruits of the Spirit are not present in your life, ask God what you must do to change. Be a servant, fight for holiness, become a saint!
Be a servant become a saint!

Fr. Michael Schmitz on “Am I doing God’s will”
1. Did you pray today?
2. Are you in the state of grace?
3. Are you doing your daily tasks?
I think what this Gospel told me was that we can’t just do the little stuff like praying your morning and nightly prayers. We have to take it a step further if we want to go to Heaven. We need to go to Mass EVERY Sunday we need to say a Rosary often. We can’t just do bare minimum and expect to get to Heaven.
If we ignore the Word of God, then what use is it. If we do not pay attention and act on what he has said, then we are fools. By listening to God’s Word and following it throughout our day to day lives, then we are putting the Word into action. We need to spread the Gospel by being kind and following God’s example and commandments.
Are we ready to give our life up for someone else? Are we willing to die for Jesus himself? ¨God is complete in Himself we cannot add anything to Him. Our lives are a complete gift, offer your life back to Him, doing His work and returning to Him sanctified like the day you were baptized.¨ Those few sentences really stuck out to me the most. I feel like it is telling me that I should be ready to give my life up because God did. We need to realize that our life is a complete gift. The day we were born was a complete gift. We have to be ready to sacrifice ourselves for someone. Are you ready to give your life up? That is what we should be thinking this Advent.
I think he is talking about the church being built on someone or something that will hold it up and keep it the same as it has been and always will be the rock I think is the pope.
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” This part stood out to me because when we read scripture do we really listen? I know sometimes it just looks like words, but if you look with your heart you can see it for what it truly is. The Word of God.
In this scripture passage Jesus is trying to tell us that we need a solid foundation for our faith with God and we will be held up through all of the obstacles in life and God would be right beside us. Jesus does not want us to have a weak foundation or all of the obstacles would have beaten us and ruined our life and relationship with God.
In today’s reading Jesus is basically saying that if we listen to him we will survive the storm but doing it without him will cause us destruction. In our everyday life we should strive to do what Jesus says and by doing this we will make it to heaven with him.
You will not get to Heaven for just calling yourself a Christian. Only those who act Christian will go to Heaven.
Jesus tells us in Scripture that we need to listen and act on the word of God. We need to listen to Scripture and apply it to our lives. We need to take the time to interpret Scripture and let the Holy Spirit show us the Truth.
A phrase that stuck to me is will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell the floods came and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined. I like this one because it tells me that if I do not have strong faith and I will fail the test to have eternal life for even. I need to be the man that build the house on rocks.
that jesus suferd for us and gave his on life for us to be fread frome or sint at the time.
Its telling me that when I act on the words of God, it’s the right and wise decision for me. But when we do not act on what he has to say we will be doing wrong and our house will eventually come tumbling down. We need to reflect on what He says and act upon it before it is too late.
God made everyone of us in our own special way. He made us, the ground, the earth, and even all of space and time. He gave us all of them but we don’t thank him. He always tried to communicate with us but we are distracted. If we open our ears and our hearts we can be happy and fulfilled through Christ, it’s our choice.
If our desire is to reach the Kingdom of God, then we should actively search for Jesus in our lives and we should strive to be holy, like just as the scripture says, “Everyone who hears the word of God and acts on it will be like a wise men.” A wise man would build a house on a good foundation so it will not break, but, “Everyone who hears the word of God but does not act on it will be like a fool who builds his house on sand.” Building a house on sand would cause the house to break, which is what would happen to us if we don’t search for God.
In this Gospel today Jesus tells us to have a strong foundation in our faith. In our lives there might be people who try to question or take away our faith but we need to stand firm in Jesus. We need to have our faith built on rock and not on sand. We need to be trusting in Jesus’ words because we know that it is true.
Holiness is not being perfect. God knows we are human, God knows that we can’t be human. God also knows that we have the capability to fall in love with Him and to embrace our faith. That’s all He wants from us. Our love. He wants a mutual exchange of love. We love Him just as he loves us. By just reading the bible or talking to Him for just 5 minutes is getting us closer to Him. It’s strengthening our relationship with Him. It’s making us holy.
what stuck out to me was “not everyone who says lord lord will make it into the kingdom of heaven. What is the “will of my Father”? What has been left behind for us to learn who we are in Christ? Is a question most of us will sadly never answer.
In the Gospel I felt like Jesus was telling us about after he dies and we are in the part of earth’s history that we are in right now is we must listen to God’s word. Just read this part of the Gospel and you’ll see why. But before that I want to think that Jesus is telling us that even through thick or thin we must always believe in God because of this part of the Gospel right here -> But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine
but does not act on them
will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” MT 7:21, 24-27
When we ignore the word of God we take a step back when we go to mass every Sunday/Saturday we take a step closer the more we follow God the more chances of Heaven we cant just say 1 prayer everyday and we should say a ton of prayer for what Jesus did for us he gave us life so we give up our life for him
This scripture reminded me that Jesus is human and spirit. So not only did he die on the cross for our sins, but his personal relationship that he has with the living spiritual God reminds me that he can do miracles.
You wont get yourself to heave from just listening to the word but you will if you act on the word listen to the meaning of the word and doing as God wants us to do will get us there.
Jesus preaches to us and we decide what to do with what we learn from him. His word is our foundation, if we hear it but don’t believe it or act on it then we have a weak foundation. if we hear it and believe and act on it then we have a strong foundation. in the end the person with the weak foundation loses his home, the person with the strong foundation keeps his home and survives. in the end his word can help us or do nothing.
“A person can see if they are doing God’s will in their lives if they see the fruits of the Spirit in their lives.” Stuck out to me because it is telling us that people can see if they are doing God’s will if we see the goodness of God.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
i thought that this was interesting becuase he saying that not everyone that praises him will go to heaven but only the ones who do his will.
Our lives are a gift from God, we were chosen for a purpose, we are here for a purpose. If God did not have a plan for us why would we be here. God will always love us, God sent his ONLY son to die on a cross for our sin, Jesus died for us, yet we still sin but God still loves us.
What i took away from this is that not everyone can get to heaven even if they are a christian. you can say you’re a christian but just saying you’re a christian isn’t enough. you need to act on it and behave like a christian should. because just like Jesus said those who do act and those who don’t are different.
When we pray, we can’t just have our brains on autopilot, and go through the words and think we are good in our prayer life. We need to live our life the way God intended us too, by doing stuff like helping others and being kind. It is like playing a video game, we can’t just do some of the game, or only part of the game, we would never beat the game like that, instead we have to do it the way it was intended, just like we have to live the way God wants us too.
I think it’s saying that we can be holy but we are not perfect. And God knows that. But he made us all differently so sometimes we might mess up. It’s because we are not all that same and won’t all be perfect.
If we really want to go to heaven we have to actually live his word not just hear it and ignore it likes its just words we hear regularly we need to live his word when we go to church we need to actually pay attention not just sit there because we are forced to go actually listen and live the word we need to actually look for God in our lives and not just hear it and ignore it later on we need to have faith and not just believe
What I think this means is that yes, anybody in this world could be a bad human being and then kneel down to Jesus screaming
“Lord!Lord!Save me from my sins!”.No.The will of his Father you cannot sin and sin and sin and disrespect the Father and his son Jesus Christ then beg for mercy just so that you don’t go to hell,It just doesn’t work like that. Most people don’t do the will of God because they think that God is against them, that God ruins there life on purpose. No Jesus Hung on the cross for us,God sent down his ONLY son,He went through Worse than anything you could ever imagine. You need to complete the will of God and repent
to get through the gates of Heaven.
I think the meaning of this scripture is we have to be able to stay strong in our faith. We have to trust in him. We have to be able to lean on him. He came down to earth to help us get closer with his father. Jesus is human he understands that humans sin but he knows that no matter what no matter how much we sin and we still love God and trust in God. He knows we are going to heaven.
Doing the large things helps us grow closer to the lord. Maybe like saying a rosary every week, or talking to him for half an hour. We have to be willing to love him just as much as he loves us, which of course is very hard, but if we do then we will be the happiest we could be as a human being.
The thing that stuck out to me was, “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.” It is telling me that if I have a strong faith then nothing the devil can do can hurt me. But we can’t just believe in God to have a strong faith. We have to do more like giving to the poor and homeless. We also need to stop being afraid of dying for your faith because if you are not, that will get you strait to Heaven
What this scripture is telling me is that whats the point not to listen when you are gonna not do as he says he is all knowing and you go off and do your own thing aft man all knowing tells you not why be there and not listen to him. why go there not listen when someone else who listens is in the very back of the crowd and still listens while you are closer to him. and you don’t listen to anything he says.
that jesus sufferd and died for and has a church for us so we can stay strong in our faith and do whats right for you
In this scripture passage Jesus is trying to tell us that we need a solid foundation for our faith with God and we will be held up through all of the obstacles in life and God would be right beside us. Jesus does not want us to have a weak foundation or all of the obstacles would have beaten us and ruined our life and relationship with God.
What stuck out to me is that We are branded with Christ. Holiness is perfection in God’s eyes, not doing everything perfect, being nervous about everything, worrying about everything, planning everything perfectly, but emptying self, putting on/filling ourselves up with Christ and loving all those we encounter, We don’t have to be perfect for god to know and love us.
This is saying we need to build our faith on a firm foundation, otherwise the waters (the devil) will come and crumple our faith.
staying on the path of god and being obedient to his word will get you closer and closer to God, until eventually you get to heaven. But, we musts stay faithful to the word of God, because if we dont, no matter how much God loves us, he cant allow us in his kingdom when our souls are full of nothing but sin.
God is trying to say that, when you receive advice that’s wise and true you should trust it and do it. If you receive good advice but don’t listen and do something about it, it’s a bad decision.
If we follow God we will be protected and kept safe from anything but to have that we have to follow God and call out to him even when we are not in a time of need. We have to listen and follow his will to be in his favor and will.
Not only did Jesus die on the cross for our sins, but his personal relationship that He has with the spiritual God reminds me that He is both human and divine.
In this God is saying you can’t just say my name and just go strait to heaven you have to know and love me. He also says Its not enough to just litsen to his word go out and preach the word of God to your friend, family and just random people.
A part that stuck out to me was about building house on rock or sand. It makes me think of God gave us free will we make our own choices. We get to choice to build on rock or sand. Even if God knows we should build on rock he gave us the choice. We get to make the decision to love God or not. God wants us to love and believe in him but he does not force us to love him or force us to believe in him. It is up to us to choice to follow God, be holy, and go to mass to worship him.
a fool who built his house on sand. it Means that people build on their faith will stand but people that don’t follow God will not stand
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.
This small paragraph tells a lot. Even if you are catholic or religious or whatever you have acts. If you are a man of God but you go out and around charging people for bible prayers or selling things for a lot of money like crosses or rosaries, etc. When you die and go to purgatory Jesus will look down on you with shame. You look at Jesus begging “But I did this I sold this with your face on it. I helped people.” You helped them but also charged them or you took advantage of them. This paragraph is saying Even though you say my name you have acts that pay.
Jesus is telling us to listen to Him today. He is telling us that if we follow Him we will have greatness. If we listen to him and pray we will be like the wise man who built his house on the rock. That Man is God. God will lead us to what is right. If we rest in God we will have eternal life with Him on top of that rock and not down below on the sand.
Holiness is perfection in God’s eyes, not doing everything perfect, being nervous about everything, worrying about everything, planning everything perfectly, but emptying self, putting on/filling ourselves up with Christ and loving all those we encounter.
so we don’t have to look the best or have perfect grades just spending time with him, just talking to him is all you need just for 10 minutes a day
What stuck out to me was that we are branded with Christ. When we fall away from Jesus, he does not leave us but he stays with us and waits for us to return. A person must read the scripture to see the Truth that Christ revealed about God’s will.
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in Heaven. This part stuck out to me because it’s telling us that, yes praying everyday is good it won’t get us to Heaven. We have to do more than just that to get to Heaven.
what stood out to me is that the waves were crashing over and the winding buffing the house was like temptation. with baptism it forms a foundation for us to build on to survive the waves of temptation. If we do sin and not follow His will, we will be blown down, but if we follow His will and act on it, we will be standing right. confession builds a new house for us and the eucharist makes it stronger.
As Catholics, we need to include God in our lives. Whether we are reading the Bible, praying the Rosary, or just praying, we need to talk to Him. Because when life gets hard, and we can´t do anything about it, we can ask for God´s help. We can ´ t always get what we want and we have to accept that. God is always with us, we just have to notice Him. God always has our back. He´s our savior!
what stood out to me is that the waves were crashing over and the winding buffing the house was like temptation. with baptism it forms a foundation for us to build on to survive the waves of temptation. If we do sin and not follow His will, we will be blown down, but if we follow His will and act on it, we will be standing right. confession builds a new house for us and the eucharist makes it stronger.
We shouldn’t expect to get into heaven by just prayer or being good, but holy. We are meant to follow God’s will and be strong in our faith.
I think this relates to knock and the door will be opened unto you. All we have to do is just pray. Say, ‘Lord, Lord’ and we will enter the Kingdom.
He said we will NOT enter heaven if we just say, “Lord, Lord”. Our actions must follow.
If we just go to Mass and still continue to act unholy or ignore God, we will not be able to enter Heaven, and our relationship with God will not strengthen. Whoever listens to His words and acts on them will be closer to God and be able to enter Heaven. So, always be listening, but also always be acting.
Just because you know about Jesus doesn’t automatically mean you go to heaven. To know Jesus you would do things for him, talk to him, and pray to him. We have to make him the center of our life not just a part of it.
what the scripture is telling me is that if we only pary it wont be enough to reach heaven we have to do acts of good and listen to Gods call and do what he told us to do. if we listen to him our foundation that we are settled on will not fall and we will not be tempted anymore.
Today’s Gospel is telling us that it’s not enough to just sit in church and have the Gospel go through one ear, just to have it come right out the other ear. We need to listen, yes, but we also need to act on those words, because if we don’t, who will?
We need to have true faith. We need to truly need to profess our faith. We can’t just go to sleep and go with the flow, but we need to know what we are doing and do it by believing him. We can’t just say the word and expect to go to heaven, but we need to be true in what we do.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven.” This stuck out to me because what I got from it is that just because we call God’s name and are connected to God does not mean we will always make it to Heaven. We are tempted by the devil every day and we sin almost everyday and because of those sins we must show God how much we truly care and truly love him. We will not just automatically get into Heaven by just saying his name. We must show him how much we love him to get there.
Jesus is telling us that we need to listen to him and do what he says. We need to stay on the right path and do what is right. To get to Heaven, we don’t just have to be kind to others, we have to be Holy and worship God and build a strong relationship with Him.
we can read the bible all we want we can listen to people preach and we can pray But if we aren’t going to mass it doesn’t matter. we have to go to mass and go to communion and confession if we truly want to be saved and live in the kingdom forever.
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” God is our house and a solid connection to him is like a rock wall it is immovable. our connection to God is like a rock man out of stone it will never be destroyed and the wise man will stay with God and never be broken down.
I think this scripture means that it is nonsensical to not believe in christ. Why wouldn’t we want to go to heaven and be happy forever. we just have to act on the words of God and we will be in paradise. there is no reason to not be a follower of God.
The Scripture is saying even though you pray you might not make it to Heaven. Some people who pray just pray to God so they can have something that they want. This is not what Jesus does. Jesus is here to save us and protect us from the world we are living in. You will make it to Heaven if you do God’s will. Pray everyday not when you need something, go to church every Sunday, and follow the Ten Commandments.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. This stood out to me because when we sin we can’t just say Lord, Lord forgive us and just not pray, we have to pray because then we become closer to God. When you get closer to God I’ve heard it does wonders in your life. For me I’m still struggling in life. I haven’t been getting my Bible open and I haven’t been praying as much. “Dying is easy, Living is harder.” Life is never supposed to be easy. You’re supposed to have challenges and struggles. Just spend time in prayer everyday; no matter what time of day it is, just pray, read the Bible, or just sit/stand in silence.
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. The rock is God and the rain and winds are sin. The house is our soul and we don’t get knocked down by sin because the only thing we are focusing on is God. All the sin disperses when we are with God.
Not everyone will get to heaven. The lord saws that the ones who preach the words of God will have a seat in heaven. So we cant get to heaven by just praying we have to spread the gospel and get it out to the world.
We need to go to church to make it to heaven. We must do good things on earth to make it to heaven.
“God is complete of himself we cannot at anything to him.” I think this gospel is trying to tell us not to disrespect God. Is this gospel he says we cannot add on anything else to him that means he knows everything. He knows everything about what you did and what you’re going to do. So why turn him down and not answer him when he knows exacly of what will happen of you.
I don know if this is relavent to the scripture today but I want to say this. I think that a lot of times we look at the world we live in as a simulation almost. We go to school and come home. eat. homework. sleep. school.weekend and all over again and again. We see God as a person who we say our fathers to, and ask of him for things we can handle ourselves. But God is more of that, He is more than just a being in the sky. He is something I dont even understand but all I can say is that he is Love. He isnt apreciated very much but he is God and I dont understand why we arent not enthraled with Him. I think that might be why people dont believe in the Eucharist, they dont understand what God truly is. idk if that makes sense, but hopefully it does.
This scripture is telling us that we can’t just pray every once and awhile and sometimes talk to God, and expect to go to Heaven. We have to go to church and spread the word of Christ. We have to follow his way and talk to him like he is our best friend. If we can do that we will make it to Heaven.
We as Christians have a duty to love God and do his will. This passage is telling us that believing in Him is no good if you don’t go out and do his will. We need to not only believe, love, and trust God, but we must also do what He is calling us to.
I think the Scripture is saying that if we do the will of the father we can make it to Heaven. If we follow God and love Him we can make it to Heaven. God wants us to join Him someday. He knows we can do it.
I think this Gospel is telling me we have to listen to God’s word and take a step back at every Sunday Mass and keep thinking on what Jesus said through the Gospel.
I think the scripture is saying that the word of Jesus is like a solid rock in which we should pray upon and listen to. If we do this we will have a strong and secure support to our faith, but if we do not; our support will be easily demonstrable and we will not enter the Kingdom of God.
If our faith has a strong foundation, the d=winds and floods of the world will not break it down. We build this strong foundation by going to Mass and receiving the Sacraments. But if our faith is built of sand, then the world will destroy us.
I think today’s scripture is telling us that it’s okay to rely on God. He is our Father and wants us to turn to him with our problems. We just have to make sure we don’t try to use God as an excuse or back bone when we are angry.
Today’s scripture was talking about God’s will. God has a plan for everyone. You can pray everyday, but if you do not go out and find what God wants you to do then it’s all practically useless. God set a path for you, don’t be afraid to live the life he planned. He’ll have your back.
If our faith has a strong foundation, the winds and floods of the world will not break it down. We build this strong foundation by going to Mass and receiving the Sacraments. But if our faith is built of sand, then the world will destroy us.
It is saying that we should try to be a good person and get to heaven but if we just don’t do anything you can’t expect to be let into heaven that easily. We need to go to every Sunday Mass, we need to give our time, and give to the homeless.
this Scripture is talking about how if you listen to Jesus and you are doing good it will be like a wise man building a house on a rock and if you don´t do what is right then it like the fool building a house on sand which is saying that we should really focus on the scriptures and Gospels and that we should not just read really fast just because you have but it is better if you really start to understanding the word of Jesus.
A phrase that stuck out to me was this: “And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.” Here, I feel that Jesus is trying to tell us that we can’t just listen to the Gospels or the homilies given by the priests. We have to hear the word, the Gospels and act on them. If we do, then we won’t “collapse and be completely ruined”. We need to set our faith solidly on a rock, we need to support it by acting on the word of God and then we will not be sent to punishment.
I think in this scripture Jesus is trying to tell us to not act like we believe in God but to truly believe in Him and sacrifice everything to Him. Like He did for us. Jesus says in this scripture ““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. This is just sending us a clear message to go out and participate in the Sunday Masses and participate in the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confession.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. What I am getting from this is that a lot of people ask and ask but never do anything like they should. People shouldn’t obligate them to do it either, they should do it voluntarily. We can’t just ask for things when we don’t work for them. God is not a machine that you get to ask for different things. People will say “Lord, Lord” but only to ask for things instead of preaching His word. It’s not all about asking.
This tells us that we can not just say that we believe in God but then do opposite things. It’s like saying you love gymnastics but then not even trying at practice, meets, and other things. If we tell people we believe in God but then go around telling people not to pray, read the bible, and go to church then obviously we will not go to heaven. God wants us to know that we have to try as hard as other things to get to heaven and that it’s not easy.
In this scripture today I feel like it is telling me that we have to earn are ways to Heaven and it won’t be easy and there are gonna be a lot of struggles in life. There is gonna be times where we might fall away from Jesus for a little bit and than come back and talk to Him and we know what we did was not right but we still did it and it got us further away from Heaven. There is also times where we will stay with Jesus and that we won’t leave Him and that we stay strong and fight the devil and do not get tempted but we will still sin in life. We just have to stay with Jesus and talk to Him when we are struggling and than we have to find our way to Heaven.
We can say we love Jesus and want to get to heaven all we want, but do we actually care about those things. Jesus/God tells us that we have to want Him/heaven if we want to get to Heaven. God knows the true desire of our hearts better than we know it. There is no lying to God. It is either we want Him or we don’t want him.
You should always visit the house of God.
“Only the one who does the Will of my Father in Heaven.” God’s Will is unique and different for each one of us. What God may want of one person is not necessarily what He wants from another. God calls us to many things, and it can be hard to know what exactly God wants us to do. Every person has their own gifts and talents. Stewardship is using these to serve the people around you. God made you who you are for a reason. He had a purpose for you.
But what is that purpose? That’s between you and God. But isn’t there something else between you and God too? Something called PRAYER?
If God loves us so much, wouldn’t he have the sense to establish some way of telling us what his plan is? Oh yeah, He does.
Prayer is so important when discovering our purpose. After all, it’s God’s Will, not ours. So take time to pray. Get to know God and His amazing plan for you.
This scripture reflection is telling us to have faith in God. Like the house built on rock it didn’t collapse when the weather came, so those who have faith in Jesus will go to heaven. But the house built on sand collapsed when the weather came, so those who don’t have faith in Jesus won’t go to heaven.
“everyone who listens to these words of mine
but does not act on them
will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
For us to enter into the kingdom we must belive and act and not just belive.
Learn to be still. Sit in silence and listen to God in your heart. If the fruits of the Spirit are not present in your life, ask God what you must do to change. this means that you have to let Jesus and God into your life if you want to live a Holy life
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” this line sticks out to me because it truly shows us that if we follow God, he will provide for us
“NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS TO ME, ‘LORD, LORD,’WILL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN,BUT ONLY THE ONE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.” This stuck out to me because so many people ask for things from God and expect it to come to them right away. We need to realize that God created us to do things for ourselves and He is just there by our side during all good and all bad times.
Jesus does not want us to have a weak foundation or all of the obstacles would have beaten us and ruined our life and relationship with God. We need to reflect on what He says and act upon it before it is too late.
I like the part about freedom God loves us and wants the best for us but doesn’t force us to do anything just helps us do that but if we don’t want to he won’t force us to. I also like the part about building your house on rock or sand. He encourages us to do the right thing but will not force it upon us.
i like this one becuase you have to follow and love and trust god in order to get to heaven. He loves us very much and he wants us to join him in heaven. we need to pary every day and go to church every sunday and we actualy need to love him.
A person can see if they are doing God’s will in their lives if they see the fruits of the Spirit in their lives. We should feel God in us telling us what to do and we should obey him and everything good will happen. If you let God lead your life then he will guide you the right way.
This passage told me that if you only believe in God and don’t speak or participate in the holy mass Jesus isn’t going to automatically bring you to heaven just because you believe. He wants you to speak and spend time with Him. We learn that Jesus isn’t going to save someone who just cries out “Lord,Lord!” at the end of their life. But this doesn’t mean Jesus doesn’t love us.
We have God in us in the Holy Spirit, we must take time to listen in silence each day to prepare for the battle that starts in our mind to what God has to say in our heart, then put on the armor of God and be ready for the battle to stay holy.what this means to me is that we have to keep are focused on God so we can stay holy and live with him in heaven.
Since Jesus Christ died and resurrected, we receive the Holy Spirit and the grace of God floods our heart and soul to wash away Original Sin and sanctifies us, makes us holy. We are branded with Christ. God is complete in Himself we cannot add anything to Him. Our lives are a gift , we need to offer our life to him, doing His work and returning to Him sanctified like the day we were baptized.
God knows everything about us and our actions. When God tells us to do something, even if we think it is a complete waste of time, listen to him. Not only should we listen to him but we need to trust him and do as he says. God knows what is going to happen and he always has a reason for things, so we should do as he says knowing that if you do you will be rewarded, but if we don’t there will be a punishment.
Today the gospel is telling me that following God and his ways is not just right but smart like it said ¨Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” following Jesus and God may be a dumb sort of love but in the end we will be so grateful to him for showing us the way to eternal life.
Instead of praying Hail Mary’s every day/night with no meaning does nothing to get to heaven but if we take a step further in religion like truly talking to God or truly praying for someone in need gets us closer to heaven.
I think sometimes we like to think that we are god over God. That we can control God, and use him as a means to an end, not and end of happiness. We like to make God conform to our desires and use him as a magic road-block-remover. Yet, we could not be farther from what we need to do. We need to communicate with God through prayer, grow in a relationship with him and then we can know his will and, as he is God, he knows best.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. This phrase really stuck out to me because Jesus isn’t saying to follow Him but to follow His Father. We need to do more than just pray everyday. Don’t get me wrong, praying is good but we have to do more than that. We need to really listen to what God asks us to do and pray with Him often. If we listen to Him but don’t go and think about it then there is no point.
We will not get to heaven unless we give our time to God. But we cant just get in with prayer. We have to strive to be as holy as we can be. Go to mass every Sunday, Pray the rosary, spend time in prayer with God, scripture reflections etc. We have to strive to be the best we can be. God sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. And he rose from the dead and still loves us.
What stuck out to me was we were called to freedom we don´t just go to freedom we are called to it and that stuck out to me because I sometimes I think I just get to go to freedom.
We need to listen to God. If we listen but don’t believe that the Word is Real we can stop believing that God is real. So we should pray more.
Hi! I just wanted to say hello and have a great rest of your day! -emily and rachel
Hope you are doing well! Have a great Advent! Thanks of thinking of me!
I enjoy the metaphors Jesus uses here. They make it easier for the apostles to understand the emaning of Jesus’ teachings and stories.
