Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two
and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick
–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic.
He said to them,
“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.”
So they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them. Mk 6:7-13
Jesus gave authority to the Apostles over unclean spirits and authority to cure the sick by anointing them with oil. Jesus’ authority did not stop with the 12 Apostles, but from Peter was passed on to Linus and down to Pope Francis. This authority was passed down to bishops and priests who are still preaching repentance, casting out demons, and curing the sick. This proves to us that Jesus has the authority to pass on His powers to specific people He gives the power to. The pope, bishops, and ordained priests all have been given authority by Christ to forgive sins, consecrate the Eucharist, anoint the sick and give them last rites, to Baptize in the name of the Trinity, to confirm the Holy Spirit in us, to witness a couple making wedding vows.
Don’t believe me? Fr. Ben Green gave absolution to my son, Nathan, and many other 2nd graders for first reconciliation. In the Year of Fr. Kapaun, we took time to reflect on his intercession from heaven to heal Chase Kear who should have died after a pole vaulting accident, Avery Gerlemen from a blood disease that was eating her alive from the inside, and Nick Dellesega who was without a pulse for 9 and half minutes. We don’t hear these things on the nightly news very often. We must search them out because God’s grace, love, and authority are the most powerful things in the world. The sick are cured, demons are cast out, and reconciliation is taking place right now all over the world.
Take time to fill your mind with good and holy things each day, change the way you think with Jesus’ teachings and your perspective on life will change forever, it is called conversion. Jesus is sending you and I out today two by two, after being formed by Him, to change the world by being who He created us to be.
Today’s challenge: Read about Fr. Kapaun’s story at http://catholicdioceseofwichita.org/father-kapaun or find a book on Fr. Kapaun and read it. Put good and holy people and things around you. Humble yourself and recognize we need God, if you seek Him out you will not be disappointed. All of us are called to be saints, with a specific role for our journey. Ask Jesus what your role is in this life then take nothing with you but your walking stick and be amazed at what Christ will do through you!
Be a servant,become a saint!

I can apply this to my life by going to confession more often and praying for forgiveness. I can also help God by talking to people about God.
I can apply this to my daily by giving up things just like the twelve did. Also I can obey my parents more and do what they say.
We must trust fully in God and truly believe that he is watching over us and protecting us from others, from sin, and most imporantly, from ourselves.
I can reflect to this Scripture by trusting in the power of God.
Always open the door for Jesus and for God. Always trust in God.
I can apply this to my life by taking all the bad out in my life. Take all the bad songs and foul language out of my life. I need to respect life and be as holy with God as I can be.
In this scripture Jesus to go out and preach the word of God. Today, Jesus wants us to go and speak the word of God to those who have never heard about God.
Just know Jesus is with you throughout your whole life, he’s always telling what not to do and what to do. He’s the number one person that needs to be in his life. He guides us to a holy and happy life.
Jesus gave us power to drive out demons. We are to go preach, heal the sick, and anoint them with oil. We also need nothing for this great journey.
Jesus is telling us what to do and we should listen and follow him and he will convert us to be saints.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that any thing is possible through God’s name. We can be converted at the most random times in our live, but we have to accept the change.
Do what God tells you, and take none of your possessions, and go to spread the Word. Don’t bring your possessions with you and be a missionary of god.
This shows us that Jesus can heal, but he can also pass his healing powers on to specific people like priests and bishops. Jesus can perform miracles even if they are not coming directly from him. He can also forgive our sins through a priest or bishop.
In today’s scripture Jesus summons the 12 disciples ti go out and preach the gospel and drive out demons. He told then to bring nothing but sandals and only one tunic. What I can take away from this is the we don’t need fancy thing to do everything and to prove ourselves. God will give us all we need and we will be fine.
God can do many things such as perform miracles. He is very good and we should pray to Him everyday for His love and for the Holy Spirit to guide us in everything we do.
God gives power to those he trust. I can reflect on this because God gave me a conscience and my conscience is what helps me think about what I am doing before I do it which can help others the way the apostles helped centuries ago. God gave me a gift to help others and I should use it well.
I will remember in times of need that God loves us that he will do anything to get us to heaven. And that all the time he is forgiving sins filling us with grace and loving us. God loves so much but we often do not love him back he wants us but we do not want him back. We need to live God we need him so wake up and love in return.
A lot of people believe that these spiritual happenings aren’t real, and miracles are just coincidences. It’s like believing in ghosts, some people do, some don’t. But unlike ghosts (hopefully), demons are real and they are harmful to us. They can physically hurt us and mentally scar us. That’s why the priest comes over with some holy water and a cross, to rid it from a house, object, or person. It’s not just some fancy thing to get the church more popular, it actually does something that could save your life.
My take away from this scripture is that when Jesus calls you to him, and sends the Holy Spirit upon you to go out and spread the word, you should listen to him, and share it to get others closer to God.
This passage shows us that we must trust in God that He knows what is right. We must have the courage and faith to let God lead us, even when we don’t know where we are going. This again is God’s way of showing us that He is the light and we must trust in Him to lead the way.
I can apply this to my life by always knowing that God has my back and we can always trust him, he works in mysterious ways.
I can apply this to my daily life by praying to God and asking him to help me seek out the true meaning of the scripture. By doing this I will be able to find the true path that God is calling me upon.
My take away is that Jesus made his disciples into what is basically today’s priests and that shows that priests have gone back to Jesus’ time.
I can apply this to my life my not putting objects before God and by giving up things so I can spend more time with God in prayer.
We should do what God tells us
What I took from today’s scripture is that, we need to call to God and to ask of what we are to be. God will give us the power to live our lives with him doing what we are called to be.
I can apply this to my life by dropping everything i”m doing and following God.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that anything is possible through God and we should follow and listen to him.
I can apply this to my life by praying and finding a book about Fr. Kapaun to read and pray to him when I need help
Jesus is our savior, he can save us from anything, even if it be a small sickness, he can heal it.
I can apply this to my life by praying to God every day, and listen to my parents even when they seem annoying to us.
Jesus should trust in us so much that he would give us the power to do what the 12 did, but some of us are straying away from him. Jesus is trying to empower us.
God has given us the power of the Holy Spirit, to guide us to the right path, the path to Heaven.
Today the Gospel tells us that God gave all of us gifts and we need to use them to serve him.
We need to put all of the earthly things aside and follow God, without any connection to possessions. We need to obey our parents and teachers because they will help us get to heaven.
I can apply this to my life by letting God take control of me because I know that I need Him. Once He takes control, I can then go preach about His teachings and help those who need help. Knowing that Christ is here with me, I can do what He wants me to do and I can obey Him.
What Jesus was trying to say to us is to go and confess our sins and try not to commit the same sins over and over again.
I can apply this scripture to my life by trusting that everything is possible through God. I can also pray for guidance for me and others
In this scripture passage God is telling us that just like he sent the twelve apostles out to go preach and drive out demons, he wants us to go out and spread the good news of God to others. He sends them with almost nothing because you don’t need material items to reach Heaven. We should listen to God when he is trying to call us to Him. He just wants to get closer to us and help us reach Heaven.
Jesus shows us that He can heal, but He can also send His healing powers on to people as in priests, popes, missionaries and bishops. Jesus can perform miracles from other people. He can also forgive our sins through a priest or bishop.
A lot of people may not like you and you can’t do anything about it so jut move on to the next and keep the ones that do. If you fell like people don’t like you just keep on going in you mission and go where you should be going. When you are sick or have something wrong within your body just remember that God is always with you and can always help you.
I can apply this to my life by trusting in God no matter what happens in my life. Like if a person in my family dies, I should still trust in God because I know he took them for a reason. God Bless and have a amazing day at school.
I can apply this to my life by being good person, and trying to get evil out of my life. I can help people and follow Jesus.
God wants us to be like the 12 Apostles and spread the news of God. If you truly trust in him you won’t need anything on your journey.
I can apply this to my life by looking at the good things in life and know that God is always there for me. Change and don’t do things for yourself but for others.
In today gospel God teaches us to be holy, is simply to not embrace material possessions as a matter of richness. To take in to account how Jesus commanded his initial apostles telling them to go out and teach with the bare essentials has resemblances in some of the most holy catholic orders of today. Following examples of Saints whom imitated Jesus’ mannerisms of teaching and lifestyle.
In today’s Scripture it is telling us that God has passed down his gifts to priests and the pope.
Today Jesus is telling the apostles to go preach and not bring anything except the clothes on their back. He tells them to not wear a second tunic either, and to got to peoples houses. If they don’t welcome them then they will dust their feet in testimony. The apostles listened and went and preached. It must have been so hard for the apostles to do that, that’s what I think.
I can do this in life by following Him like the Apostles and believe. I can go to Him anytime and pray to Him.
Something that I think Jesus is trying to say is that we need to take time out of our lives every day and to make sure that we are praying and reflecting every day. We need to make sure we are thanking and praising God.
Jesus is getting the apostles ready to be his missionaries by telling them what to do and how to do it. You are supposed to pack lightly, bringing no extra sandals and eating only what you are freely given.
Jesus has the authority to heal us. We have to believe that He can heal us, because if we do then we can make it to heaven with his healing and grace. Priests have been given authority to heal, but only if we believe we are truly being healed will it actually happen.
What I think God is trying to tell me through this scripture passage today is that I should only worry about things that will get me to Heaven. The Apostles only brought those things along with them just to get by, they didn’t need any other luxuries to still be happy with God.
We must always trust that God has a plan for us and he knows what will happen. We need to trust that God will be there with us every step of the way.
This passage is telling us that once the Apostles were blessed they became just like Jesus. They had these amazing powers but they wore sandles and brought one par of close. We need to be just like them am be like the lowest of the low but worship Go as much as we can.
Jesus gave the apostles authority over unclean spirits and he said, “Stay in the houses of people who welcome you but shake the dirt off your feet in testimony against the ones who don’t listen to you or welcome you.” I think this means that Jesus is merciful to those who except Him in their lives, but He will not answer the prayers of people who are not willing to listen to Him.
I can apply this to my life by sharing the Gospel. I can also pray for guidance and fill my mind with good things.
God is saying that we should take the help that others give us and not to act up when they don’t. I can apply this to my life by not lashing out when I get mad and by taking the help that others give.
In this passage i learned that it doesn’t matter what people think about me, As long as i believe in my faith i’m okay. If people don’t like who i am or what i like i don’t need them in my life. I just have to move on with my life and forget about them.
Jesus sends the apostles out in pairs of two to go preach the Gospel, he sends them out with nothing but a walking stick and a pair of sandals. He is basically saying we don’t need a bunch of junk to help us live. All we need to live a good faithful life is some love and trust in God. When we get Confirmed we are being called to go preach the word, We need to answer the calling and we will go to heaven.
No matter what we need to trust God. In the passage the Apostles only get a few items to go on the trip of there mission. To most people in today’s lives this would not be a good amount of resources for the average person to go on a great mission like they are. They trust God like we need too and they know that he will provide them with anything they need.
Jesus told the apostles to go out and preach the gospel with nothing by the clothes on their back and a pair of sandals. And they did it. Their trust in the lord was so strong that they went out with almost nothing. We need to be willing to do the same thing. If Jesus asked you to go out and preach the gospel with nothing in a place where you will be persecuted, would you trust in him enough to do it?
I can apply this to my life by knowing that anything is possible through God’s name. We can be converted at the most random times in our life. We just have to accept change.
We all need to follow God and trust in him and everything he has done for us. We know what he did for his people when he walked this earth but we need to trust that he will do the same for us even when he is not walking the earth. If we put all our trust in God and pray to him all the time than we will truly be happy and live our life on the road to heaven. We need not to worry about material things and everything distracting us from God but to worry about what is truly necessary for life and what we need to get to heaven. We need to know that he has a plan for us but we need to pray to him and believe in all the things he has done and will do for us.
In this passage Jesus is sending the apostles out to preach, and to follow Jesus. I can apply this to my life by being a better and more humble person. I can also help people follow Jesus, by doing little things like by have a Christ like manner.
We might not be like the apostles in every way, but there is one way that we can connect with them. Us as students might not have the power to call out demons, we might not be able to heal people just by laying our hands on them, but there is one thing we can do. We just like the apostles are called to preach. We are called to be shining examples of a Christian, and mimic Christ. That is how we are called to be like the apostles, how we are called to be like Christ.
I can apply this to my life by preaching the Gospel to others. I can follow in Jesus’ footsteps by doing this, and fully believing that everything Jesus revealed to us is true.
We need to listen to what God is telling us to do. We need to do His will and not our own will. And we should also share the Gospel.
I think that we need to trust him through everything even if we have doubts. Like the apostles we should go out and preach his word.
God doesn’t want us to embrace our possessions. He wants us to pay attention to Him and not our things.
This tells me to listen to what Jesus is saying in daily life. This also tells me that we should have testimony against non-catholics.
As much as we think we can, we alone can not save ourselves. We need God, so we have to let him into our lives! God IS THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE!!
Jesus will always forgive us no matter what we do. Jesus loves us so much that he doesn’t even need us in His life, but he still wants us. We must be thankful for what we have.
Jesus wants me to spread the Good News about His life, death and resurrection. He wants me to trust in Him because He will always sustain me.
In today’s Gospel it reminds me that Jesus is still fully alive. Jesus can still perform the miracles he performed 2,020 years ago when he was alive, well actually it was 1,987 year ago because Jesus didn’t die until the year 33, so it is 1,987 years ago that Jesus came and rose again. That really isn’t that long ago, and Jesus is still performing miracles, He is just in Heaven. All we need to do is ask it from Him and He will come to our aid.
I think Jesus is telling me that the Holy Spirit is powerful. The apostles were sent out by Jesus with literally nothing. The Holy Spirit had to guide them to the right places and help them along there way. We have the same Holy Spirit that God has given to us at our confirmation. We can do great things with the help of the Holy Spirit.
I can apply this to my life by doing what God has sent me to earth to do for the world and to follow him and trust in him
This is saying that we don’t need anything to be able to follow God. We also have to trust in Him that He will give us everything that we need. If we follow Him then have to leave other things. We also have to share what God tells us to other people.
This gospel makes me think about why Jesus came to Earth as a human. I think this gospel shows us that God wanted us to treat people with love, so Him and His apostles did not dress like royalty, to see who truly treats everyone with love.
We have always needed God in are lives. From the beginning of man we have know him and we fall away because we want to do what we want to do. We need to trust and remember Jesus’s teachings and keep bring ourselves back to God so we can be with him in eternal life in heaven.
God is telling us that we need to fight for our faith. We need to be proud of our faith and who we really are. We must teach others about the one, true faith.
Take time to meditate and pray with god every day. Listen to him and let Him guide you in any troubles that you may have. Talk to your priest or someone in the religious life. When you talk to a priest in confession your are talking to God.
Jesus is telling us to try and live our lives like the apostles and saints. We can’t perform miracles or anything like that, but we can spread the good news of God. Jesus wants us to follow his will and do whatever he tells us to whether that’s become a priest, nun, or called into the marriage life.
The twelve apostles are sent by Jesus to do thet hings that he can do. The disclpes are people ( other than Jesus) that we need to act more like. WE are sent by Jesus to do the things that He did, and is still doing. Just by saying hi to someone that you don’t noramlly talk to is somethinng that you can do not just for you, but for Jesus as well. Doing a chore without being asked by your parents, trust me this will make your parents very happy. Preaching the Word of God is what we are being sent off by God to do for him. Trying to convert people is one o fthe harddest things that you will try. But through Jesus nothing is impossible.
I think this Scripture passage is trying to tell us that we need to place our trust and belief in God. He should be our top priority in life, so that we could be truly happy. When placing our trust in God, we could truly be content with ourselves and with others. We also learn to love others and ourselves.
I can apply this in my life by trusting in God. He knows what is right or wrong. If i doubt him it wont be right. I need to go to confeesion to repent for The Lord loves me.
Today, we hear Jesus send out the disciples like he sends out each and everyone of us. He calls each and every one of us to be missionaries and preach the word of God. We are called to spread the Good News of Jesus and teach his teachings to all who believe and don’t believe. We often think that converting people to Christianity is only something his 12 disciples did, but in reality, we are all Jesus’ disciples and to do what the twelve did.
I think God is telling me that I am always with you. he will always be with us no matter what we do he will always love us.
This gospel means that we need to truly live out the word of God and when someone doesn’t accept our belief in God, we just keep living out the gospel. The ones who do not believe in God are the ones that we need to try our best to convert them.
The passage tells us the without God we are nothing. With God’s help we can have eternal life. We can only have eternal life with God’s help. We can trust God in his teachings and all he has revealed in the Gospel and teachings. We can trust God in casting out our demons and we need to trust in him.
Today in this passage, I figured out that God put us on earth so that we could spread his word. God is trying to tell us he loves us and is telling us to spread the word to friends family and anyone and everyone else in the World. If we spread the word well and follow God for our life, we will get his eternal gratitude by going to heaven and being there with him.
I can put this into my life by getting rid of all the bad things I include myself in. Just like the Apostles getting rid of everything to follow Jesus, I must do the same if I want to make it to the end goal of Heaven.
Today, it is harder to follow Jesus. For everybody, we can train ourselves to take time to read the bible and pray at least once a day. So when the time comes, we can follow Jesus to Heaven.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that Jesus calls us all to be missionaries. some of us don’t think that we’re old enough. that is wrong. however, sometimes our lives may be too busy or we may be too shy and nervous to preach the gospel in public. As catholics, we are often persecuted for this behavior. and in some places, like public schools, we aren’t even allowed to say God’s name! But we must persevere, and have courage, because God has sent out a decree that the whole world would be enrolled in the Catholic/Christian faith.
If I was one of the twelve, I’d be pretty scared to do this; No food or water, no extra clothing. What if there wasn’t a kind person to take me into there home? What if it got cold and I had no where to stay or clothing to keep me warm. But, Jesus knew that they would find a place to stay and would survive. The Apostles trusted Jesus with their lives and knew that what he told them to do was his plan for them. Basically, what I am saying is that we need to trust in Christ and trust his plan for us.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells us that we should go out to preach his news. He also tells us that we should leave our belongings behind. Jesus lets us know that he will provide for us, just like his did the Israelites after they escaped slavery.
Jesus sent out the 12 in groups of 2 and they were to bring nothing with them but 1 set of clothing and a stick. as americans we think that we need to prepare fo everything at any time but we don’t set time aside to pray to create a relationship with God and to set a course for our spiritule lives.
In this Gospel, Jesus is telling us to trust in him. He sent the 12 Apostles out to preach with little food, money, and clothing. But the Apostles trusted in Jesus. I can apply this to my life by doing whatever Jesus leads me to. Even if I don’t trust, had faith and Gd will provide.
In this scripture passage Jesus tells us to leave all of our things behind and that he will provide for us. We mustn’t be afraid to preach Jesus’ word. We must go out and share to Good news of his life, death and resurrection.
I can apply this scripture to my life today by being more trustful in God. The 12 Apostles had to have been very trusting in God when he said to go and send off unclean spirits. It takes a lot of courage to go off not knowing where you will be sleeping or eating that night but the Apostles did it anyway, trusting in Jesus the whole time.
We should be so trust worthy, that Jesus himself would give us his power. That of which the power he gave to the apostles.
God always tells us what to do and we must follow what he says. We should always turn to God and away from the devil.
We need to follow God’s footsteps. He went out and preached the Gospel. The 12 apostles did the same. God is telling us today in the Gospel to go out and preach our faith. Don’t be scared to talk about your faith when you talk about your faith to other people the only thing it can do is make you a stronger person in your faith. It can’t put you down it can only make you stronger. God loves us so much he will do anything for us.
What I learned is even when I want to turn back I know that God is leading me. He will take me to wherever I need to be and I will always be safe with God.
in today’s gospel Jesus tells us that we as humans always want to keep something as a backup or safe keeping like money or food but we need to have total trust in god that he will help us through the hard times.
i can apply this to my life by listening to Gods call for me. I will also follow God’s will.
I can apply this to my life by living my life like I can do remarkable things. Many people in the past have done it so I can pray and go out to preach God’s word.
Jesus gave the Apostles the ability to heal and clean spirits just like He did. We must also be like Jesus, not necessarily performing miracles and things like that, but forgiving and being kind and close to God as He did.
This Reading Passage has told me that we need to work together to get to Heaven. We need to preach, drive out demons and listen to God’s will.. not what we want. Every Saturday we have a volleyball game and my teammates ALWAYS say “God, make us win, let the other team lose!” And then they end the prayer, but no.. we need to tell him “Your will be done.” Because it’s not our will, it’s his to be done.
What stuck out to me is the Apostles listening to Jesus saying some of the people they would preach to wouldn’t care or would kick them out of their houses. All we need to do is hope, or in other words believe that God is there with us doing the talking. We might not be able to ACTUALLY drive out demons, but we can do one thing every parent tells us about, we can pray. My parents always tell me that my prayers work wonders because I am a kid. And really, that’s all we have to do.. is pray.. Believe.. and tell God, “Your Will be Done.”
I can reflect on this passage by trusting in the power of God and beliveing in him even when we have our douts or we are told he is just telling us lies or when people tell us that he is not even real.
As Catholics we are called to be missionaries. We are called just like the first apostles to spread the word of God and aid others who are in need. Although we may not be able to heal and drive out demons, we can do smaller things like comfort the sick and teach others about God. We can give everything we own up and go out to do as the apostles did
As Catholics we are called to be missionaries. We are called just like the first apostles to spread the word of God and aid others who are in need. Although can’t heal and drive out demons, we can do smaller things like comfort the sick and teach others about God. We can give everything we own up and go out to do as the apostles did
Today, Jesus commands the twelve to travel forth, at conquest against the devil and to drive them away and cure disease. From pinpointing these demons, they are driven away in vast amounts and defeated. In a similar way, we must drive out the wickedness within our lives, and live humbly through acts of faith so we might ascend into heaven.
In this passage Jesus is preparing to drive out all of the evil spirits that dwell in us.I can add this to my everyday life by giving ti the poor so they can have stuff like me and it doesn’t always mean that they didn’t make a bad choice some of them didn’t have a choice.
Belongings don’t matter. We can’t take money or objects up to heaven. We need to worship Jesus and not objects or money.
Jesus is telling us that don’t need money or material items to get to heaven. Jesus will give us what we need to get to him. I’m going to apply this to my life by not focusing on the material things.
I can apply this to my life by trusting God.
Preaching is like a blind man driving a vehicle. If you preach the right thing you can go really fast. If you preach the wrong thing, you will either not go at all or go very slowly. The fact of the matter is…we are the blind man. I ask myself, God, am I really preaching the right thing. That is like having another person there to be with you so you know where you are going. God bless you…
We need to go out and preach the message of God. We need nothing to go and preach besides our mouths.
