Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
Be sure of this:
if the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant,
whom the master has put in charge of his household
to distribute to them their food at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so.
Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property.
But if that wicked servant says to himself, ‘My master is long delayed,’
and begins to beat his fellow servants,
and eat and drink with drunkards,
the servant’s master will come on an unexpected day
and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely
and assign him a place with the hypocrites,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.” MT 24:42-51
If we were to describe a faithful servant, what would he or she look like? Jesus says today, “Prepared”. To be prepared, we must first encounter Christ, the living God, in the Word and the Eucharist. We must learn to sit in silence and listen, then we must gain knowledge or be taught/formed (Scripture, catechism, spiritual books). Reflect in silence over these materials.
Next, we must believe in the knowledge gained through faith, be baptized, reject Satan and relentlessly grow closer to Christ. We must grow in a relationship with our Savior, pray. Our grace tanks must be refilled often to live out our baptismal promises, the Eucharist-Jesus Christ, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, and reconciliation-repent and change your life, be transformed by Christ.
Our daily rosary must be offered up with the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary meditating on the life of Christ. Walk with Jesus in the Stations of the Cross or do some type of sacrifice/fast every Friday to remind us that Christ died for us, deny yourself/kill your ego. Gain knowledge on what Jesus went through in His Passion. Every saint started at the foot of the cross with Mary. Every difficulty that burdens you throughout the day offer up with the suffering of Jesus Christ, He gives purpose to suffering.
Everyday, ask the Holy Spirit to join your spirit so that you may live with the purpose you were created for and strive for holiness. God is fully alive in us through the Holy Spirit to help us until Christ returns. We must be transformed and live as other Christ’s for the world, always striving for greater holiness for the greater glory of God. Last, sit in silence and listen so you will be, “Prepared” when the Master returns.
Today’s challenge: Be prepared. Pray, hope, and don’t worry! -St. Padre Pio One of my coaches taught me, “Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance”
Be a servant, become a saint!

” Stay awake, for we do not know on which day your Lord will come.” We don’t know when Jesus will come to earth. We should always be ready for him and be expecting him. You should be on your best behavior at all times because you don’t know when Jesus is coming.
Mr. Dappermint
I think that in this it says we should refrain from hypocrisy. and reject Satan’s temptations. Also, hello Mr. Geortz! I hope you have a great day!
I think this scripture means that we should not be hypocritical and let the holy spirit guide us. To do that we need to accept God and be baptised. Also hello Mr Geortz.
You just made my day 🙂 I hope all is well at your new school. Jesus loves you, keep praying and receiveing the Eucharist, praying your rosary! God Bless!
When Jesus is talking about being prepared, He’s saying that the Lord will come at an unexpected time, so we must always be faithful and willingly follow God’s word until we die.
We don’t know when the second coming will be, so we should always be prepared.
I think this passage is saying that we need to always be ready for the second coming of God. So that means that we need to give up our sins to the lord and forgive those who have hurt us. We need to do all that so we can spend eternal peace in Heaven, and we need to make sure to go to Sunday Mass every week for that is one of the key ways to get to Heaven.
IN today’s reading ” you also must be prepared” stuck out to me because it kinda has a take in everyday life as well as being ready in our church lives. IN our church lives we are long awaiting Jesus second coming, but as in our everyday life we have to be prepare for the challenges in our life.
This scripture passage today has multiple meanings and take away. The biggest take away I got was to always stay awake and be ready. By this it means we never know what day Jesus will be back. So we need to always live life to the fullest in our words and actions. If we sin make it right and actually be sorry for it. Jesus will come back one day and we HAVE to be ready for it, so that we can spend eternity with him. So everyone lets pick up and win the hard fight. Don’t let the devil get to you. We got this!!
Jesus says to his disciples to stay holy and always pray because they do not know when God will come.
jesus is all whas withe us bat it is hard
What reached out to me was “Stay awake!”. What this means to me is that we need to be ready to support the faith and keep our relationship with Jesus alive and thriving.
We must always be ready for when Jesus comes. We must have faith and be ready that when He returns we will all go to heaven. You should in your heart that one day we will come face to face with God one day. Will you embrace Him and tell Him everything or will we shrink back in shame knowing that we’ve stopped trying to connect with Him.
“Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.” We know Jesus could come at any time, so we need to be prepared. We should not avoid confession because we want to have a clean slate for when He returns. We should go out into the world with a kind heart so when the He comes He will welcome us in open arms.
I think Scripture is telling us that we need to be ready and open to Jesus. We need to be able to open ourselves up to God and talk to Him. We need to actually take our time and pray to God.
To be one of God’s faithful servants we must be prepared to open our hearts to Jesus. Jesus wants us to tell him everything, like we do with those we love. Jesus wants us to fall in love with him, to form a relationship. More than a friendship, a father and son/daughter relationship. By just sitting down for 10 minutes in silence to talk to God can help grow our relationship with Him.
In this Gospel today it tells us to always be ready for the Lord’s second coming. We will never know when He will come but we still need to be prepared. Jesus is going to come back at a random time and if we are not prepared then we will be sent to a bad place.
The Gospel today talks about how that we need to be ready when Jesus is coming again. Like when you are wanting for someone like your family cousin or any buddy like that. If they are coming late it is like how Jesus said that when a house is going to be robbed you would want to be ready so you would not surprised when it happened.
We don’t know when the second coming will happen. We should always be prepared.
When God said the wailing and grinding of teeth is him sending them to hell and he will send us there if we are bad to other catholic’s and persecute them for there faith even though we have the same faith.
“Stay awake!” This brings me back to when Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane when the Disciples fell asleep and he told them to stay awake I think Jesus is telling us to “Stay Awake” for his calling to us.
The Lord asks us to always be ready and stay in our faith because God will come when we least expect it and we must be ready.
Everyone can be the wicked servant at times and no one can always be the faithful one. but when we stray away we need to come back through confession
The phrase that stuck out to me is “We must be transformed and lived as other Christ’s for the world, always striving for the greater holiness for greater glory of God.
“Stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
This stuck out to me because you always need to be ready for the Lord.
Jesus taught me that I need to put him first and spread the word more and heaven won’t be easy to get in I need to listen and be patient. I have to be patient with him and spread the word more and at night when i’m asking myself if I should read the bible and that thought that i shouldn’t I need to fight that thought and the devil with Jesus because I know I need to.
“For you do not know which day the Lord will come.”
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant,
whom the master has put in charge of his household
to distribute to them their food at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his master on his arrival finds doing so.
Amen, I say to you, he will put him in charge of all his property”. This really stuck out to me.
We will never know when Jesus is coming but he is and it can be whenever to save us again because he loves us that much.
To say what you feel out loud. Not to be afraid of what other people think.
I thought that this part stuck out to me “Stay awake for you do not know on which day your Lord will come.”
Jesus is everything I’m nothing without God
I don’t know how he forgives us for everything we do. He just loves us that much.
(Believe) Believe in Jesus and believe that Jesus loves. Know that Jesus loves you.
We must be transformed and live as other Christ’s for the world, always striving for greater holiness for the greater glory of God.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
Be sure of this.
“For what hour you do not expect, the Son of man will come”
Always be ready for Jesus to come so that you can get to heaven.
I can continue to read the daily gospel everyday. He is trying to tell me to read the gospel everyday to come closer to him
we have to be ready for Jesus to come because we never know when he will reveal himself to us. When we die we will be judged on evry thing we did so we have to be holy in life.
We must always be prepared. We must always be ready for Jesus to come again because we do not know when He will come back to us. If we sin all our lives and do not go to confession or don’t lead a Holy life, and when Jesus arrives, it will be too late. Judgement day can come anytime, we do not get to choose when we are ready.
“For what hour you do not expect, the Son of man will come” We may not be ready for Jesus to come and save us but He will save us from the world we are living in and that lies that we are told.
The phrase that jumped out at me was ” To be prepared, we must first encounter Christ, the living God, in the Word and the Eucharist. We must learn to sit in silence and listen, then we must gain knowledge”, because I tend to have a very hard time sitting still, and because I can’t really sit still, I tend to notice noises that I normally wouldn’t notice. But I feel like this Gospel is telling me that to truly encounter the Lord Jesus Christ, we need to notice the beauty in the Eucharist, and then be silent in that beauty and just…listen. Listen to the birds, listen to the worship that is happening around you, listen in your heart. Because even if you don’t hear a voice in your head, Jesus is all around you. In the songs that the birds sing in the morning, in the worship that we sing at Mass, Jesus is everywhere. If we would just listen.
automatically i see the first words and i start to think that we need to stay clean and prepared for our heavenly life because it is coming soon. we do not know when we will die and if we are always prepared we will be ready for the kingdom of God. god is coming back to earth and we will get it right this next time and we will flow him but we need to stay prepared.
This gospel today has alot of meaning in it. Because it tells u to prepare for jesus second coming. And that we need to listen to him and spread the gospel and do as much as we can before the second coming.
The Lord says always be ready because you never know when the day will come. People need to ask themselves am I worthy to enter the gates of Heaven. Jesus says “So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
when Jesus said stay awake its like a reminder for us to get back on the right path and not to stray away from the main purpose we are being taught.
It says that we should always continue praying because we will never know the exact moment that God will be coming to us!
I think that this scripture is saying that we should be prepared for judgment day. We can do this by going to Mass on Sundays, praying at night and morning, and spending time in silence.
I think that this scripture is telling us to be ready for Christ, we should realize that we don’t know when we will die or when Christ will come but we can figure out how to live our best life with God now following the path to heaven. We never know when we will die so we shouldn’t wait to be the best version of ourselves
We don’t know when Jesus will arrive. We should be ready for it.
“Stay awake!” Jesus needs us to always be ready for when he is coming, because we don’t know when he will come. If we are always ready, then we will never be caught off-guard and will be able to go into heaven because we were prepared for when he comes.
You’re not going to know when a miracle, something spirtual, or anything happens. You have to be aware of you surrondings to truly see the holiness in the world.
I think this scripture is telling us to always be ready for God. You never know when his small voice speaks to you. Your mind always has to be opened up to Jesus and never turn him down. That is why it is so important to build a strong relationship with God so that you will always be ready for him.
In today’s scripture reflection God is telling me that I need to stay awake, we all do, during Church and prayer we need to be focused and give God the chance to talk to us. When we day dream we are just blocking Him out. If we stay awake we can truly enjoy the presence of God.
I think the scripture is saying that we must be kind to our fellow neighbors because we are all on the same boat to try to get to heaven. On Jesus’ second coming we should all be ready for He is the only one who knows when it will happen. If we are hypocritical to other people about the same faith we believe in we will probably not be welcomed into the house of the Father.
Today’s scripture reminds us to always be ready for the second coming. Always act like God is watching you, because he is. If you aren’t prepared then you will be punished when you least expect it, but if you are prepared, then you will be rewarded.
I think the Gospel is saying we have to be prepared. We do not know when the second coming of Christ will be. We do not know when Jesus will come again. We have to be prepared for the second coming. That is why the Scripture said “STAY AWAKE! FOR YOU DO NOT KNOW ON WHICH DAY YOUR LORD WILL COME.” MT 24:42-51
“if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared,” This is one of my new favorite analogies. I use analogies a lot when explaining stuff, but they’re usually not very clear. Yet, somehow, Jesus manages to incapsulate what he’s trying to get across perfectly in a couple of sentences.
We will never know when the Lord will come again and the people long ago had no idea of when the son of man would come down to earth to save us and never knew what he would look like and how they would be saved, That is just like now because we have no clue if Jesus might come today or in years or not even in our lifetime, but we still need to be ready for when he comes again to bring us home, Jesus lectures his disciples about needing to stay awake so you could be there when your lord comes and told a great story about if you knew when He would come than you would stay awake at that exact time, but we need to stay awake as long as we can and not lose sight of our savior and drift off away from Him.
“Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.” I like this because it’s saying that not all things are predictable. Jesus could be coming tomorrow, in a year, or even in 4 years. We will never know. “Stay awake..” doesn’t actually mean stay awake, it means to be prepared for when the Lords is coming. Prepared is also another word that is mention is the passage.
What got my attention was this “STAY AWAKE! FOR YOU DO NOT KNOW ON WHICH DAY YOUR LORD WILL COME.” you don’t know when The Lord is going to come and when that happens its going to be amazing. You have to stay with Him, listen to Him, do anything that will allow you to be with Him. Ignore the devil, the only thing the devil brings are bad things and will only make you regret the things you made because you listen to him.
“if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” This phrase illustrates an example which is easier to comprehend. Like a parable in a way. We can’t tell that from this piece of Scripture, we must “Stay awake”, or be vigilant. Jesus tells us that at the hour when we least expect it, the Son of Man will come.
We need to remember that time is not eternity, time will end. I know I think, “I got time we can go to confession tomorrow.” That is exactly what Satan wants us to think because he wants us to fall into sin and put off Jesus. Jesus deserves all our attention all the time. We may think that pray is boring or there is better stuff I can do, but take just 1 minute and talk to God. Lord Jesus help us to stop putting you off, because all we know is that the next corner we turn could be our last
It is saying that we should pay more attention to Jesus and that we should learn to listen to Him when He is talking to us and not just run away from Him. He is here to show us how to get to Heaven and to not believe what other people say about Him, you just need to follow His word.
In the Scripture today Jesus is saying that we should always be prepared for if something happens and that we do not know when the time comes that we need to be prepared. The devil is something you are always gonna have to be prepared for because he is gonna tempt you to do the bad things and make you try to fall away from Jesus. We have to be prepared to say no and to fight the devil and this is going to be throughout your whole life that we will get tempted to do what we are not supposed to do. We have those times that we start going away from Jesus, but we can come back by praying, going to confession, and going to Mass to get back with Jesus. We will also have some bad days but Jesus is there to help us. Jesus is telling us to stay awake and be prepared for the next thing to happen.
Jesus in this passage keeps us in the mindset of “today is the Second Coming.” And the day after, “no, no, no, TODAY,” even if the Second Coming isn’t for another 2 billion years. This has us living our life as people who are anticipating Jesus’ return. Instead of “procrastinating” in our faith, we begin to act. To change. To become better people. To live a better life. To inspire those around us. We begin to understand the importance of God taking control of our life and us obeying his will.
Now, this task is easier said than done. Sin can so easily grip our lives and send us driving in a loop. Instead of getting from point A to B, we take a detour. Luckily, we can “download FaithMaps” to get us back to where we need to go. Prayer is such an important part of living for God and for Him alone. Without Google Maps, I wouldn’t be able to get anywhere. The same is true with “FaithMaps.” By praying, we connect with God, and He offers us guidance and stability in our life.
A car ride is much more fun with a friend. Let Jesus be your friend on your car ride to Heaven. Will we allow Him to be our navigator?
Jesus could come at any moment so we should stay awake and live like Jesus.
Everyday, ask the Holy Spirit to join your spirit so that you may live with the purpose you were created for and strive for holiness. God is fully alive in us through the Holy Spirit to help us until Christ returns.
“Next we must believe in the knowledge gained through faith, be baptized, reject Satan and relentlessly grow closer to Christ.” This is great we MUST reject Satan and grow closer to Christ no matter what.
“Stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.”
You need to be prepared and ready for when Jesus comes back. It could happen any day of the week.
Jesus tought me to be better and do better and to just focus on me
we dont know when Jesus is coming back , so we have to be ready.
Even though some of us might think that the second coming is years, or evenminutes away, no one knows except those he has chosen to know. This reflection told me that you must keep in mind that everyone sins sometimes, but no one can use that as an excuse to sin, because that could be the sin that puts you in hell.
Grace is something the Lord gives us. He loves us so much, what I think of when I read this was the poor way we treat God and how he DIED for us. It makes me sad to think that in a desert of sin the oasis of grace God gives us most people take for granted.
It says to be like Christs on earth and always strive for holiness.
For the greater Glory of God.
Jesus taught me that you will have to trust him with whatever you do because everything happens for a reason. He also taught me that he will love us no matter what.
“So too, you must also be prepared for at an hour you do not expect the son of man will come,” this means that I should always be open to the lord and ready to talk to him at any moment.
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent servant,
whom the master has put in charge of his household
to distribute to them their food at the proper time?”
This stood out to me because some people dont know who our master is. It is the lord Jesus guiding us to heaven. If you hear him calling you listen.
Jesus is telling me to stay awake and love him.
The things that most stuck out to me were Walk with Jesus in the Stations of the Cross or do some type of sacrifice/fast every Friday to remind us that Christ died for us, deny yourself/kill your ego., Last, sit in silence and listen so you will be, “Prepared” when the Master returns., and the servant’s master will come on an unexpected day
and at an unknown hour and will punish him severely
and assign him a place with the hypocrites,
where there will be wailing and grinding of teeth.” MT 24:42-51
They stuck out to me because I know I can have an ego sometimes and I know I’m doing the wrong things just because I think that what would make me happy when I know it doesn’t
What stuck out to me was when it said that God will come when we least expect it.
“Stay awake!
For at an hour you do not expect the Son of Man will come
This is to say you should be ready when God calls you to your vocation.
Always be ready for Jesus to come because you do not know when he will come to save us.
God will come when we least expect it.
The phrase that spoke out to me the most is, ” To say what you feel. Not be afraid of what other think of you
God could come at any time, be prepaired.
This is telling us that God will come when we do not expect it. We always have to be ready for His coming.
I can apply this by always being open and willing to let god in.
God will come when we least expect it. In pargrapht three
The thing that stuck out to me was that he said “you also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.” He is telling us to be prepared for anything that comes your way.
a grace tank will have to be refilled often
Joyfully sacrifice pop
Be sure of this:
if the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into.
So too, you also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
I belive God is telling be to resit tempation and strive to be more like Jesus and be on the road to sainthood.
“Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your lord will come.” we don’t know when he will come so always be ready for him to come.
“if the master of the house
had known the hour of night when the thief was coming,
he would have stayed awake”
this stood out to me because analogies (at least to me) make it very helpful to understand things and this analogy that jesus used was very helpful to understand the point jesus was trying to make.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Stay awake!
For you do not know on which day your Lord will come.
Something that stuck out to me was, “If the master of the house would have known the hour the thief was coming he would have stayed awake.” If he would have known he was about to get robbed he would not have gone to sleep. One day we will get life on earth taken away or “robbed” from us. So we should “stay awake” to worship God before we get robbed, and cannot anymore.
What stuck out was that Stay awake for you do not know the day the lord will come. It stood out because like God is always with you but you may never relise he’s there unless you let him be part of your life.
To me this reading means that you have to be prepared for what obstacles will come next and to hold Jesus’ hand through hard times and everyday life. I really enjoy this reading because it helps remind me of what could come next and to be ready. I know that Jesus will always be there for me and that I can always lean on him for help.
TO be prepared we must first encounter Christ.
“Stay awake! For you do not know on which day your lord will come.” we don’t know when he will come so always be ready for him to come.
When Jesus is talking about being prepared, He’s saying that the Lord will come at an unexpected time, so we must always be faithful and willingly follow God’s word until we die.
This means that you will go to heaven when ever the lord calls you
This scripture is saying that we should be prepared when Jesus comes again we have to be awake we have to be faithful like we have to get rid of our sins .
I think God is trying to tell us to stop only paying attention to him just during Mass but all the time.
The phrase “STAY AWAKE” stuck out to me because we need to be ready for the coming of Christ.
What stook out for me is when he said stay awake because we are always tired to share the word of the lord.
