Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
The tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to listen to Jesus, but the Pharisees and scribes began to complain, saying, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” So Jesus addressed this parable to them.
“What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert
and go after the lost one until he finds it?
And when he does find it,
he sets it on his shoulders with great joy
and, upon his arrival home,
he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them,
‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’
I tell you, in just the same way
there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people
who have no need of repentance.
“Or what woman having ten coins and losing one
would not light a lamp and sweep the house,
searching carefully until she finds it?
And when she does find it,
she calls together her friends and neighbors
and says to them,
‘Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost.’
In just the same way, I tell you,
there will be rejoicing among the angels of God
over one sinner who repents.” LK 15:1-10
Today, Jesus teaches us that God is not very economical (Archbishop Barron). His grace can’t be earned, its a gift and He can use it how He wants. How does a sinner receive this grace? Allowing Jesus into your boat, recognizing our sinfulness, humbly approaching the One who is love, mercy, and justice. As Archbishop Barron says, “The Gospel is about detachment”. We are called to repent, change our lives, desire to be holy. One who takes steps to stop the sin by coming to God’s mercy until the sin is no longer a part of their life. This may also require medicine, doctors, and counselors with God’s grace in confession. The opposite is the one who thinks they never sin or tries to rationalize their sin and does not reconcile themselves with God. One who does not desire holiness.
Catholic Culture.org defines repentance as “Voluntary sorrow because it offends God, for having done something wrong, together with the resolve to amend one’s conduct by taking the necessary means to avoid the occasions of sin. To repent is to be sorry for sin with self-condemnation.” In the act of contrition, we pray to “avoid the near occasion of sin”. Often times we forget this once we get back into the routine of life. Habits are important to pay attention to. We may need to change a routine we are in, a place we go, people we hang out with, or today an electronic device we use too much.
God gave us life as a gift out of love, our identity is in Him. When we celebrate all saint’s day and all soul’s day, we learn that we are made to see God face to face at the end of our journey through the death and resurrection of Christ in baptism. We have a high calling. We must learn to “avoid the near occasion of sin” by forming ourselves through discipline and daily habits that lead us to God not away from Him. We are called to rise above with God’s grace and cooperating with His Will. Our souls, our being, is a precious gift from God and He wills for us to come back to Him. We must make our will His Will to return His love. Pope Francis says, “God never tires of giving mercy, we tire of asking for it.” Repent, you have an entire heaven full of angels and saints waiting to rejoice!
Most importantly, God’s one desire is your friendship. He sent His only Son to die for it. God wants a relationship with you. Our sin is a failure in relationships. We are made for relationships. Our sin stems from a failure in our relationship with God, our own flesh, or another person. When we sin we fail in one of these relationships. Think about who you are hurting next time you are about sin. We all need to learn and practice forgiveness because we will certainly fail in our relationships. They are difficult. With God’s grace and love transforming us, we too can share this love to build healthy relationships with others.
Today’s challenge: Repent. Baby steps start one day at a time and come to God’s grace in the Eucharist and confession daily if needed. The saints often came to this two sacraments daily.
Be a servant, become a saint!

Jesus accepts everyone including sinners.
I can imply this to my life by praying and getting closer to God
We need to repent and judge ourselves on what we do not others. God will forgive us no matter what but we still need to repent.
It can apply this to my life by, not giving up on something that is really important to me.
to search for your lost things and when you find them rejoice
I can go to confession more often to repent for my sins and know that every sin, consious or unconcious, is a sin so I can become closer to God and his plan for me
I can apply this to my daily life by letting myself find Jesus in pray, and in mass.
This shows that we have to be grateful for the small things. If we are sinners we need to repent and find our way back to God. Jesus will go after the one who is lost and needs him most, but we also have to repent and be winning to give ourselves up.
This scripture made me feel closer to God and make us closer friends.
That God wants a relationship with us and for us to talk to him like hes out best friend. Gods grace can transform us and make us better people. Our sins fail for us to have a good relationship.
Today, Jesus is telling us that even if one has sinned and ran away from Catholicism, and Jesus is with 99 other righteous people to him but even though he has 99 others he will leave them to find the one lost soul and he will not rest until he succeeds.
I can apply this to my life by forgiving my family members, because everyone is a sinner and we all do things wrong sometimes, besides God and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
I can reflect on the gospel by repenting and to strive to be holy.
I can relate this to my life by if I’ve done something or something bad has happened then in should try my best to try and fix it
My take away is that God is calling us and when we sin the way to get out of it is to respond to God, and grow closer to him in prayer.
This Gospel passage always hits me whenever I open a bible, as with all other bible passages. But this one, “This man sits down and eats with sinners.” Now here’s a thought, we are all sinners, yes, but the apostles as well were sinners, too. So in a way, you could say that Jesus again ate with sinners at the Last Supper, and these same people were given the gift of the Holy Spirit. Just think of Matthew, the gospel writer, was a tax collector, and was against the Jews at the time. Jesus still being the loving and forgiving one, said to him, “Come, follow me.” In this way, when the bread and wine become the body and blood, the Last Supper happens again and he sits once more with the sinners. What a joy to know that. This is the God that we know of, the one true God that speaks to us still.
We can relate this to our life helping the lost sheep find it’s way (sheep meaning people) to God and be happy when you do something good or not sinning because a whole bunch of angels will be.
I will apply this to my life by sacrificing a lot of what i have to the poor
We can apply this to our lives by remembering that Jesus wants all of us not 99 all 100 he wants the best for us we are his sheep he is the Shepherd. He will not let one of us drift away he offers out a helping hand but it is our choice to grab hold and come with him. Jesus wants us all But it is our choice to want God to stay with the Flock/group We drift away and get lost through sin and sorrow but he brings us back onto the path of salvation.
I can go to mass today with my mom and go to confession while im there
i can apply this to my life by following God and trusting in what he does for me. Instead of focusing on all the bad I can focus on all the good in my life.
This passage is telling us to repent for our sins. Even if we don’t want to, we must. Repentance will bring us closer to God, and with that, we can have a holier life and join him in the after-life for eternity.
I can apply this to my life by praying more and showing Jesus to everyone through me.
everyone is a child of God
This passage shows us that we should repent for our sins and give thanks to the Lord for all that He has blessed us with.
I can apply this by praying and getting closer to God.
I can apply this to my life by learning to forgive and repent
The scripture is very clear and the parables fit very well. This a very valuable life lesson because it teaches that just because your happy doesn’t mean that others are happy and you should try to make them happy with Jesus and his grace.
Even if we are sinners we should still believe that God love us and do are best to not do that again.
Jesus wants everybody no matter what
In this story Jesus talks about a coin that is lost and referring it to sheep and the 99 sheep and the one lost one and saying rejoice for I have found My sheep/coin.
I think I can use this in my life by remembering that no one is left behind.
if I loose something i can look for it no matter how many more i have, and when i find it i can celebrate with joy than i have found what i lost.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that God will come after me no matter what.
Jesus accepts all sinners and he tries to help everyone reach Heaven.
I can apply this to my life by repenting. I can repent because I am a sinner. After I repent, the angels and saints in Heaven will rejoice with me.
If you have sinned God will still take you and forgive you of what you have done no matter how big the sin could be.
I can apply this to my life by helping my friend that is sad until he gets better and then bring him back into the group while rejoicing that he is back.
This is showing us that we need to find the joy in the small things.
I can apply this to my life by not only thinking about me but also the poor, and trying my best to give what I have and don’t need to the poor who don’t have and do need it
This Gospel shows me that the little can be and mean a hole lot more than the bigger things everyone is fretting
I can trust GOD. He wants all 100 of us, not 99. I will try not to get lost from GOD.
I can apply this to my life by going to confession and realizing that we do sin but, God will always forgive us if we are truly sorry. Also we should let God into our boats and get closer to him.
Jesus accepts everyone including sinners
God will let anyone into his life so that’s what I’m going to do by forgiving people, trying to go down the path Jesus went down and getting closer to God
From this I learned that we needed to take the people that kill and make them a follower of God. I read this article of this women who’s son was killed by one of his classmates and in court the mother of the son who was killed yelled at the killer “I’m gonna kill you,” so the boy walked away frightened of her. This boy had no family so he had no visitors in prison, but about a year later the lady who’s son was murdered visited the boy and they talked and talked, until one day right before the boy got out of prison the mother asked the boy, “Where you gonna go when you get out.” And he said, “I don’t know I’ve got nowhere to stay.” So the mother asked the boy to come stay with her and the boy accepted graciously. So one day a couple years after they’ve been living together the mom said, “Remember the day you were convicted and I said, “I gonna kill you.” And the boy responded with, “Yes ma’am i’ll never forget that day.” So she said, “Well I did just that you are no longer the same person.” the went on to ask, “Can I adopt you.” and they accepted and they lived as a happy family for the rest of there lives.”
This is a beautiful story! Thank you for sharing your story with us!
This is an amazing and very interesting story thank you for sharing.
We need to repent and judge ourselves on what we do not others. God will forgive us no matter what, but we still need to repent. Jesus will always accept anyone who wants to come to him, who is lost, or who are sinners.
One way I can apply this to my life is to worry about the small things and look towards God.
Today in the scripture Jesus is saying that he will always look for us even to leave the 99 behind. Jesus gives us the gift of grace and we need to be thankful for it. We need to trust God and know that he is always going to love us even when we don’t love him and that he is always open to forgive you.
Jesus is explaining what it will be like when we find ourselves in heaven, or when we have returned to him and his Father after our mistakes. There will be a party held every time one individual finds their way.
He is saying that just because we sin that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t love us. He still wants us to come in to paradise with him.
Jesus is telling us that we should repent because he will always try to find us when we’re lost. When we repent to him and find him he will rejoice and be happy.
What God is trying to tell me is that we are the lost sheep or the lost coin and we need to look to him in everything we do.
no matter what you do or don’t do God will always love you.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that Jesus wants our friendship more than anything. And he wants all of us to be friends with him, not jut 99. Jesus loves everyone
We need to learn that we have to let go of somethings and go to find what we lost. We can learn to make everything count and search for what we may have lost, or need to find.
The way God’s Grace works is not for us to earn more, and the more we have the better. It’s what is called impartial, meaning we cannot have a certain amount. It’s completely and totally equal. Now we can receive more or less of God’s Graces because there is more than one, but we cannot receive a certain amount of one of them. We should always fix the one problem, not leave it and use our other things. We should always help the one friend, we should meet that one person. We are called by God to do that one thing, whatever it may be.
In the scripture Jesus is telling us to be grateful for the little things in life instead of wanting the bigger or better things in our lives.
we are completely different from God. He would leave over half his sheep to go find one. Thats crazy what if something happened to the rest of the sheep while hes gone. We are that lost sheep and Jesus will leave all the other 99 good people to find one single person who didn’t even listen to him. That in our modern world is crazy. This is what makes Jesus so special, he would do anything to get us back to him. Even if it means leaving 99 others that are good.
This is what our religion is about. This is Jesus, He goes out and find each one of us. He loves us so much that He will go out and reach for us, and find us. He loves us, and we need to love Him.
God will forgive us if we go astray. He will find the one that is lost and will being them back to him. He will leave behind what he has to go looking for us, and we should know that God loves all of us and will find us when we need it the most. When God finds us lost in our spiritual life and brings us back to him, we should rejoice.
I can apply this to my life by inviting people to eat with me at lunch who are different and being friendly to those who don’t have many friends. We need to be more aware of the people who may act or talk differently than us because even though someone may be different doesn’t mean they don’t deserve the same amount of respect as we do.
In today’s Parable i learned that if Jesus can let anyone come into his life with forgiving them so can I. I think that i need to work on forgiving other people and letting stuff go i hold grunges because of my past and i need to let that go.
I can apply this to my life by knowing that God is there for us, and knowing that he wants a relationship and friendship with us. I will try to go to confession more often and obey God and try my hardest to get to know him better.
The scripter today showed me that everyone makes mistakes. When we do make those mistakes we need to get to confession. It Doesn’t matter what we have done God will always forgive us. But we need to have the will and strength to go straight to God and confess what we have done and show that we are truly sorry.
I think that this means that we should forgive everyone. Even if they are sinners, we should still treat them like the sons and daughters of God that they are. We are also sinners so we can not judge people by that.
I learned to be kind no matter who it is . I also learned that GOD forgives.
We must recognize that God will do anything to keep us safe. He’s willing to drop anything to look for us. This shows that Jesus loves us. We all make mistakes, but those mistakes are what we learn from.
I can apply this to my life by letting others into my life and make them feel like they belong wherever they want to belong. We need to respect people that talk or act differently than we do because we are all children of God and need to respect each other as if they were our brother or sister.
I feel i can apply this to my life by letting other people in. I need to make more friends than just my “group” that i hang out with every day. I need to be an all-around more friendly person to everybody.
God will still love us if we go away from Him. He wants us to be with Him and for us to love Him. Don’t think Jesus doesn’t love you if you don’t go to church or pray. He will always love you, you have to love Him back.
God and all the angels in heaven will rejoice when a sinner repents and comes to the lord. God still loves us even if we are sinners and is filled with greater joy when we repent and worship Him. We must all repent and follow Him and if we stray from him we must go back and love Him.
We need to remember that God wants all of us~not just 99/100. He will search to find us and bring us back to the flock.
I think Jesus is telling us to accept everyone even if they are drastically different. I can use this in my daily life by inviting others to do things without a biased thought.
This parable teaches us that God loves each and every single one of us. If we wander away, he will leave everyone to go find us. He will bring us back to him, no matter what, even if he has to leave everyone else to go bring us back to him. No matter what the thing is that pulls us away from him, he will bring us back, and he will forgive us for our sin.
God is willing to give us as much grace as we need but we just need to ask for it.
Though Jesus is happy when people are already faithfully following Him, He and all the angels and saints especially rejoice when a sinner repents and comes back to Him. We also need to remember our promise to, “avoid the near occasion of sin”.
In today’s scripture Jesus is saying that God will go however far He needs to in order to get someone who has forgotten or never met Him. God rejoices more over the finding of one sinner than ninety-nine who are perfect. God has all the angels to worship Him, but He still keeps us around. We killed His son, and continue to sin daily. He still rejoices more over one of us going to confession than hearing an angel’s everlasting praise.
Jesus welcomes sinners like us. We must be sorry for our sins, and Jesus will show us His Divine Mercy and love. This way, we can get closer to God.
This relates to everyone because you should never give up, especially on your Catholic faith. If we make a mistake, God will always forgive us and guide us. We should all be thankful to God.
First off, what is keeping us from being friends with those that are on the outside of the “cool groups”. If they don’t do this or don’t say that, or if they just don’t look cool we all judge and we aren’t cool if we talk to them. We just need to reach out to people even if we aren’t best friends with them, there is no reason to be rude or to ignore those who aren’t like the rest of us. God is in us all because we love him and he loves us. God created us different and we have to celebrate the differences. I know this is the most cliche thing I have ever said but it is really true. We can all bring out the love, and kindness of God that is in us to help bring God out of others. BE YOU, LOVE ALL, AND YOU CANT PUT PEOPLE DOWN!!
Jesus is teaching us that He will never leave us. He will be with us even when we run away from Him. He will always be here with us.
In today’s scripture, it reminds me that we are the lost sheep, and Jesus is the shepherd. When we sin and turn our back on God and start heading on the path of sin we get lost, lose sight of God, and keep heading in the wrong direction. We don’t stop wandering in the wrong direction until we repent. When we repent (Go to the Catholic E.R. (Eucharist and Reconciliation) and are truly sorry) we find the right path and gain sight of Jesus once again. It doesn’t matter what you have done; Jesus will rejoice with you returning to Him no matter what.
If we walk away from the Catholic faith God will do anything to get us back. God will forgive us if we sin. He died on the cross so we can sin. This is telling us to repent our sins and do what will get us closer to Jesus.
Today’s gospel shows us that God loves each of us. i think this parable shows us that God does have a PERSONAL relationship with everyone of his children.
God wants us to worship Him. That way can get closer to Him and we can become inseparable.
This passage shows that a lot of faith requires a lot of strength about that ” Person”. ” This man sits and eats with sinners,” this shows us that being the odd one out isn’t bad at all. Jesus sits with sinners, so He sits with us, We put him on that cross and the least we can do is go to mass. He sits with us, always, if you’re reading this He is siting right next to you and loving you with all of His heart. Gos i the way to all the truth and kindness in this world!
This Gospel talks about how Jesus loves each of us individually. He knows everyone of us by name and knows us better than we know ourselves. When one of us strays from him, or strays from the church, his one job is to seek us out, and find us and bring us back to his love. He rejoices that one more human, apostle, or sheep is found because each person is special to him in their own way.
We have to listen to Jesus because He will always welcome us and forgive us just like He welcomes and forgives the sinners in the reading. In today’s world, we are the sinners who Jesus is welcoming and forgiving. He will always be welcoming us but we just need to welcome Him into our boat.
Jesus is telling me that there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people
who have no need of repentance. If you are a sinner God is always waiting for you to repent and go to confession. So don’t get down on yourself and think that God doesn’t love you. Because God will never stop loving us and he can’t stop loving us so we need to always repent and be thankful and God will always forgive us no matter what we did.
I think in the Scripture passage it means that when someone loses their faith in God or has lost themselves, God will always try to find them and bring them back. The moral of this passage is that, first, always be inclusive with everyone. Second, God will always be there for you.
Jesus is saying that no matter what He always wants to be with us. Whatever we do He will forgive us and will rejoice when we repent for our sins.
To me this scripture is saying that even if we sin that doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love us. This is also saying that if we know someone going down a sinful path or someone that is going through something tough in their life we should help them instead of push them away. We should only not hang around them if they are causing us to sin as well.
I learned is that we must turn our enemies into friends and we must become followers of God.
This parable is about how much God loves us. He will leave the whole world just to save or help he never forgets us and if we go missing or astray. God will go to the ends of there Earth and stars to make sure we do not sin.
God is trying to let us in his bout. But we are not listing to him. So go into God bout and be happy
I learned that God accepts everyone, and that we should too. No matter what. It doesn’t matter how the look, how they talk, or what their interests are. We should accept everyone. That doesn’t mean we have to be friends with everyone. We just have to accept them for who they are.
In this scripture I have learned that God will save us from our sins. It also tells me that God would rather help one sinner instead of helping the nine holy ones who don’t need help.
Jesus is telling us that he loves us no matter what. He’s also telling us to stay close to him so we know what to do.
I can imply this to my life by praying and getting closer to God.
I can apply this to my live by: if I lose something, such as my faith in Jesus and God, I should look tirelessly for it.
I can apply this to my life by making Jesus #1 and by making sure that if in a way I lose a sheep, I should look all over for it.
The message that I received from the scripture today is that God forgives everyone, therefore we should not be scared of things like going to confession because no matter what, He will forgive us if we have good intentions. He would rather see you sin and repent than never repent. Whenever a sinner repents then all of Heaven rejoices.
God is willing to give us grace but we need to ask him for it to receive it.
Jesus wants everyone he even will take sinners.
We need to realize when we sin and repent so that we can live a good life here on earth and live in eternal happiness with God in Heaven.
Don’t think you aren’t good enough for God, cause your always good enough for God. To God your one of the best child or adult out there. And he will always accept sinners.
I can apply this scripture passage to my life by trying to not be like the Pharisees and scribes and trying to be more open to every one even if they are not very smart of badly behaved because Gods loves them just as much as he loves me and there is no point in judging other people when you yourself are not perfect.
I can apply this scripture to my life by addressing the fact that God really cares about all of us and we should never forget that. We need to be sorry for our sins and go to him.
This scripture tells us to always trust and follow Christ, no matter what.
This Gospel shows today that we should always be open to Gods call. His call might not come right away or the answer you want from your prayer but it will always come so we have to be ready.
i can help the poor and try to do better at good things that i can do.
Jesus tells us in today’s Gospel that God would leave his entire kingdom just to find a sinner, and I find this interesting because Jesus did just that. God sent his only son down so that everyone would believe in him. It’s odd that the pharisees and scribes were shaming him because he was talking with sinners, when in reality we are all sinners. I think that this is a valuable lesson, that we should not judge our neighbors for something before we rightfully judge ourselves. I heard a saying once that said “we get so annoyed with our family because they show us our own flaws” and I think that this applies well with this, because the pharisees and scribes were so caught up with being perfect, that they had to put other people down for not being perfect because the other people showed them that they weren’t perfect either. They tried to put Jesus down at every chance possible, because he had what they didn’t. He was truly holy.
We need to love the Lord with all our heart. God would leave everyone else just to help you back into holiness.
I can apply this to my life by not being exclusive and only hanging out with my really good friends. I’ve been told by many people (teachers, classmates) that I’m exclusive. While I know, myself, that I’m not and I honestly have love in my heart for everyone and everything. Now that I reflect on what I do, I see how they can perceive me that way. I, honestly, am just more comfortable with my group of friends than with anyone else, but I can apply this to my life by trying to be more friendly and inviting.
I can apply this Gospel to my life by forgiving people. I think that God is telling me to forgive the sinners, because they are still people of God no matter what happens.
I can apply this to my life by not excluding others. I’ve been told that I do this (obviously I’m not trying to) by teachers and peers. Honestly, I have great friends and am really comfortable with them. Just so you know this about me, I do NOT like getting out of my comfort zone. I don’t try to be this way, but I can see how I might come across as exclusive. I can apply this passage to my life by being welcoming and inviting.
I think the scriptures are trying to tell us that God wants to be with us and when we do choose god he and all of the angels and saints rejoice for us realizing our sins and doing something about it instead of trying to hide it.
Jesus explains in today’s gospel that someone that seeks out the smallest joys on Earth, whether this is discovering a lost coin, or a sheep, celebrates his/her discovery. In a similar way, we need to haul ourselves in God’s boat, so we can fully grasp God’s loving graces.
Jesus will always love us and be there for us no matter what we do or what situation we are in
Jesus will always be there for us no matter what happens and will always love us no matter what we do
The scripture today showed me that everyone makes mistakes. When we do make those mistakes we need to get to confession. It Doesn’t matter what we have done God will always forgive us. But we need to have the will and strength to go straight to God and confess what we have done and show that we are truly sorry. Also, to love God with our whole body and heart.
Jesus is saying in this how he would leave a entire nation just for one person. Jesus loves us so much that he will do whatever for us and is waitng for us in heaven.
God will do anything for us. He loves us so much and will leave people just to find us. I can aply this to my life by helping anyone.
When we sin we also should about how God would feel, or how other people would feel.
Knowing God is okay with us taking baby steps but we need to believe in him and know he loves and cares for us
In this scripture, it tells me that God loves me no less than anyone else. Sure, I have done regrettable things in my life but God looks down on me like I hadn’t done anything wrong. When I get judged (HOPEFULLY.. ) God will tell me what I have done wrong, BUT STILL.. At that time, he loves me and you and always will.
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that we should forgive those who sin.
And that we should invite those who are left out.
