Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Jesus and his disciples set out
for the villages of Caesarea Philippi.
Along the way he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that I am?”
They said in reply,
“John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others one of the prophets.”
And he asked them,
“But who do you say that I am?”
Peter said to him in reply,
“You are the Christ.”
Then he warned them not to tell anyone about him.
He began to teach them
that the Son of Man must suffer greatly
and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed, and rise after three days.
He spoke this openly.
Then Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
At this he turned around and, looking at his disciples,
rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan.
You are thinking not as God does, but as human beings do.” MK 8:27-33
Today, Jesus reveals something about himself that no other religious leader ever reveals. Fr. Robert Barron, in his Catholicism video series, talks about the verses today in which Jesus asks, “Who do people say that I am?” I am refers to our being, our make up. ”I AM who AM” also refers to God or “Yahweh” in the Jewish Torah. No other religious leader or founder asks a question about their ontological make up, or being. Don’t forget this comes after Jesus has healed and cured many people and fed the 5,000. Then, Jesus is frustrated because the Apostles still don’t see or hear the message He is sending. Jesus is trying to show the Apostles and the world that He is the Messiah, the Son of the living God! Today, Jesus comes right out and says it!
““Who do people say that I am?”
They said in reply,
“John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others one of the prophets.”
And he asked them,
“But who do you say that I am?”
Peter said to him in reply,
“You are the Christ.””
This is the identity of Jesus Christ. The 2nd Person of the Trinity, human and divine, God made Man, Word made Flesh who dwells among us. Jesus later goes on to say that He must die and rise after 3 days. The reason this is so important is that Christian hope (Pope Francis catechized on this) is born in the resurrection. Jesus either is who He says He is or He is a liar and a blasphemer. If He is the latter, He has fooled the smartest and holiest people in the last 2,000 years. He rose from the dead to prove He is God and everything He taught us is True. He has the Words of everlasting life.
When someone challenges you to ask you why you believe Jesus Christ is the path to heaven, now you have something to dialogue about.
Today’s challenge: We are made in God’s image and likeness. The Divine became human, so the human could become divine. Through our baptism in dying with Christ and rising with Him in new life we are born again to become holy and fight Satan. Believe you have the power within you by Jesus Christ to fulfill your baptismal promises. Dialogue with others about why you believe what you believe.
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
Jesus is the Christ…(That is all I am going to say).
In today’s scripture Jesus is telling us that if we sin we may be forgiven by God even if we do it right in front of him. and that God has many names but only one purpose and that is to save all human beings from sin.
The Holy Spirit will guide us to make good choices so we can reach Heaven someday. We just need to remember to pray everyday and live a holy life.
I can apply this to my life by listening to God’s word and, listen to it closely and not ignore his voice in my conscience. Next I can give God all my attention, and pray more.
I can apply this to my life by following God’s words. When I begin to turn away from God I get closer and closer to Satan. God is all I need in life and by following and learning from his words I can live a better life.
In this scripture, Peter starts talking to Jesus in a human way. This scripture states that even one who believes greatly about Jesus, they can still get tempted by Satin.
I think that God is trying to tell me that sometimes he will tell me to do something I won’t like and that I won’t enjoy. But then we think of ourselves and not of others like God. So I think God is trying to tell me to follow him in all he does and all I do.
I can reflect on this scripture by believing that Jesus is the Messiah and has offered us eternal peace with him.
I am who am refers to our being. With this we can think about what that means and try to understand how it is related to us. Jesus is the only religious leader that had said something like this making him true.
In today’s reading Jesus asks Peter who he thinks he is. Peter says in response that he thinks that he is the Christ. What I can take away from this Gospel is that not everybody thinks that Jesus is the true God, and some will doubt it but if you believe in God you’ll always be happy.
Don’t forget Jesus is always with us no matter how are life is or how easy life is. It doesn’t matter if we sin really bad Jesus will still love us. He is always with us, He is trying to lead us to Heaven so we could be with him.
When God says “Get behind me Satan” that makes me think of how much we allow Satan to control us in our lives. I believe that if we said this when ever we are tempted to do evil and we say or think this, we would be much more spiritual and we would be guided more by God then Satan.
Today Jesus is asking who we think he is. The disciples say “you are the Christ.” That is what we should be saying, but we don’t even bother to look at him or talk toy him.
Jesus reveals reveals that he is the Christ, and that is something that no other religious leader has done. Jesus is probably the only religious leader that has ever asked his disicples/ followers who he is. This was after Jesus had done all the miracles But Jesus is frustrated or mad that even after all the miracles, they still don’t know who he is. Jesus has been trying to show the world who he is, but today he tells us who he is.
Jesus is both man and God. The deciples don’t want Jesus to act like man.
We should always preach about God and how good he is and what he does for us all the time. We should always follow him and do is command.
It can be hard to believe in something you cannot see. But the disciples were seeing, but not believing, and that’s pretty sad. Like, they got to see God, on earth, in person and they thought he was just another prophet. And the world still suffers from this non-believeathon today.
Many People think many things of Jesus. Some people think he did not exist yet others think he is the Son of God they believe. Yet it is foolish to not believe or act it because we have proof to back up almost every single story. Jesus Cross is still there his crown of thorns and the Shroud of Turin we have proof and God gave us faith a choice a purpose it is our choice to follow that purpose or not.
Jesus is always with us even through the rough and good times. Jesus wants us to go to heaven so we could be with him. He wants us to be Holy and Happy.
What i got from today’s scripture reading is that Jesus asks his disciples who people say he is, but they do not truly know him, he is always fully alive and is the true and ONLY savior who died on the cross for our sins.
We need to believe that Jesus is actually fully God and fully man and that he will give us all that we need to get to Heaven and live a happy life.
I think its amazing that Jesus had the power of God and chose to keep it a secret cause he is so humble. I can incorporate this into my life by trying my hardest to be humble.
I can reflect on showing my true self and stand up for others that need it.
People think Jesus is many things. In these times, we worship electronics and other worldly objects instead of Jesus. Peter hits the mark when he says to Jesus, “You are the Christ”. This means that he is the only thing we should worship in this life. This will help us grow closer to Jesus and God, and ultimately, get to Heaven. We must really dig deep to find out what Jesus is to us, and whether we give Him the praise he deserves from us mere humans.
In this passage Jesus is asking people who they think he is and people have absolutely no idea of who he is and then Jesus asks Peter who he thinks that Jesus is and Peter said you are the Christ who will be raised from the dead. And he was correct.I can reflect off this by staying in check and talking to God more often so I don’t forget about who God really is.
Jesus appears as human but he is fully devine and fully human, he can act as though he is human but he can do the work of God.
God wants us to see Him and hear Him. He wants us to know the He will always be there for us even when we sin. We need to recognize who He is and then follow him.
Today Jesus reveals himself to the apostles.
Jesus is human and divine
I can apply this to my life by reading the scripture and proclaiming about what I believe
In the scripture God tells us this, “that the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and rise after three days.” From this I take away that we are going to be prosecuted till death for everything. But if we know truly that we have been in a close, loving relationship wit God that we will rise to heaven after judgement.
What I learned from this scripture is that God has many names but they all mean the same thing, that he is almighty and powerful in all that he does.
I can apply this to my life by believing that God is to true Messiah and that he has Eternal peace with us.
In can apply this to my life by knowing who Christ is. Even if I do not understand him fully, I can go back to the Bible and read. I can understand Him and His Scriptures by doing so. Though the outsiders does not know who He is, but we do. We can preach about Him and let more people join the Faith Community.
Jesus is not just some person that we follow because everyone else does or because our parents told us to. He is Christ and he came down to save us and help us reach heaven.
In today’s scripture we are told that Jesus is Christ and that is proven to us every time we go to mass during the readings, and the consecration of the Eucharist.
In this Scripture I think of the apostle Thomas who had to touch Jesus’s hand to know that he was risen again. This is kinda like us in real life when we go to church but do not even concentrate on God who is right in front of us in the Eucharist! We need to open our eyes and see that God is talking to us, and we should listen. God Bless and have a wonderful rest of your entire life living like Jesus did.
In this scripture passage Jesus is asking the disciples who they think he is. He tells them eventually but they do not listen. This reminds me of the many times I do not listen to God or pay attention to what he is trying to tell me. I think we can all try and listen to him more and by doing that we can pray more. Whenever we need help we can turn to him and ask him what we should do.
Jesus reveals that he truly is the son of God and he is not fully human but human and divine. Like Peter said he is Christ and he is the messiah.
In today’s reading Jesus tells his disciples that he would suffer and die and rise in three days. Some thought he was crazy but others thought he was going to and he did. So this means we should try our best so we can be with god. And always believe in god and his ways.
I can apply this to my life by listening to Gods word, and believing that Jesus is the Messiah
In today’s scripture, Jesus is asking the Apostles who He is. They tell Him what many think and then they tell Him what they know He is. We shouldn’t be like the many doubters, but more along the lines of the few believers. If we can get the many to become the few then we can all work together to live truly holy and virtuous lives.
Jesus is Truly the Son of God. Recognizing that Jesus is the Light of the world and following his actions will get us to Heaven.
Sometimes God wants us to do something that is uncomfortable, but He is doing it for a reason. He wants us to have eternal life with Him in Heaven. We have to ourselves who God is. If we can’t answer that, we need to read the bible, it has all the answers.
In today’s passage I think Jesus is saying that it his his mission and that we should follow him.
God has many names, but they are all Him. Jesus looks different, sounds different, and worshiped in different ways, but He is God. He is everyone’s God.
What I think God is trying to tell me through this scripture passage today is that I should start to prepare for Lent. Protestants want to skip past the suffering on the cross and go right to the Resurrection, but Jesus had to die on that cross to take away all the sins of the world.
I can apply this to my life by revealing myself to God, like he did the the apostles. I can make sure i come to him and tell him everything.I can be honest and spread the word of God.
Jesus’ followers saw Him as the Messiah and a savior, but He is so much more than that. He is the light of the world that has led us out of darkness. He is the Lamb of God, who came to set us free. We have been gifted the chance to go to heaven, but only because Jesus loves us so much he died on a cross for our sins.
This verse is telling me that we need to understand Christ. We need to try and have a relationship with Him. He is trying to get closer to you but if you/we don’t understand Him then we can’t have an encounter with Him.
i can apply this to my daily life by knowing that God died for me and is there for me everyday no matter the time. I need to respect that and understand.
In the reading Jesus is saying that he is going to die and then rise again in three days. Some people fully believed that it was true, but some people decided not to believe him. This shows that we need to always have faith in God no matter what.
The apostles understand exactly who Jesus is. Jesus doesn’t want them to go telling everybody, I think because he wants for us to figure that out ourselves.
Jesus is trying to get the disciples to realize after all the miracles he is God the Son of Man. I think he’s also trying to say is that not everyone thinks he is the Christ and some don’t believe in him.
Jesus goes through everything with us. He wants us to follow him and grow in holiness. Jesus wants to be with us.
Today Jesus asks the disciples who do people say he is. They say in reply, “John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others one of the prophets.” Then Jesus asks who do they say he is they say the Christ. To which Jesus replies telling them not to repeat it to anyone. We can know who Jesus is and we should know who Jesus is hopefully we do.
The purpose of today’s gospel is to show us the great significance of how God implores us to do great things in today’s world. Through speaking to his disciples he states he will die and rise. They fact they they were in utter disbelief shows how true they worshiped Jesus, and to how truly we should worship him. Show to put into simple terms it shows us a great deal about God’s true mission for Jesus. The Son Of Man rises and relieves us of our sins. This is what drives our faith, what we believe in. The basis for what we do is Jesus, and if this is fake then our whole faith is pointless. Our main source of belief is his resurrection. So to we should all play greatly into his Resurrection, and may it shape our futures always and forever.
In today’s scripture Jesus is asking his disciple who the people think he his and they say that they don’t very much believe in him but Peter said the he is the Christ. It’s hard to recognize someone for who they really are when you don’t know much of them but with God we just need to believe in him.
Turning away from God is easy. Sin is easy, but we need to battle it. Turning towards God is what we need to do. No matter what we do or say, God will know. We can’t just hid from Him, we need to turn towards Him, not away.
Today Jesus asks people who he is. There are many answers to a question like this. Many are right because God is Everything, The King, The Lamb of God, Son of the Virgin Mary, etc. But we have to follow him and worship him if we think this, because if we just call him these names and don’t practice our faith and worship, then we don’t truly believe in God.
Today’s scripture is telling me that even if we sin our sins will be forgiven for whatever we do no matter how serious. God will always care for us and doesn’t want anything bad to ever happen to us.
In this scripture Jesus asks ” Who do the people say that I am? ” His disciples replied that the people thought him to be Elijah or John the baptist and other prophets. But who do we think Jesus is, maybe a myth or legend that our parents tell us about to keep us in line. Others, just a relative that lives so far away that you’ve heard so much great things about but you never met them, you’ve never even tried to meet them and don’t care to. Or maybe you actually know Jesus, you talk to him all the time, you trust him, you know him, you love him. We are going to step up, we are going to pray and sing and worship him. We are going to talk to him like he is our best friend. That is what we are going to do because he deserves it. We are going to believe in Jesus so much we’ll knock his socks off.
Jesus asks today who he is. To me, Jesus is my friend who helps me through everything. He forgives me of my sin, fills me with grace, and guides me through my day to day life. If we fully believe Jesus and his teachings, he’ll help us with anything we may come across in life.
Jesus asks the apostles what others call Him. Peter answers saying that He is Christ. Because He is Christ, we are to worship Him as our Lord and Savior.
Jesus doesn’t care about popularity, money, or possessions. Jesus doesn’t just ask this question because He cares about what they call Him behind His back. Jesus asks the question because to get to the Father, we need to know Him. We need to know who He is, not just what He said or did. Those are important, but so are memorized facts for a quiz. You need to truly know Him.
In order to have a better understanding of Jesus we have to know who he is and that he is the Christ. The only son of God
We have to believe in what Jesus tells him and who he really is and we will be saved. Jesus says he is going to die to save us all, and we have to trust him.
Jesus is our Lord and the man we need in our life, if we follow him we lead a good life and go to heaven and if we don’t that won’t happen. We are given a chance in life to believe in God and pray to him and follow him and try to live the life he lived but if we choose to do other wise and not try and live how he lived than we won’t go to heaven or be happy and joyful. Even though we cannot see or touch God we have to believe he is there and he is through the Eucharist and many ways. Jesus is fully God and fully man and if we trust that he is we will live a good life.If someone doesn’t believe who he is and the things he has done for us than we have to try and get them to believe in him.
Today Jesus asked the disciples who they say he is. If Jesus asked us that question, what would we say? Who is Jesus to us? Is he just a teacher? A friend? If someone were to walk up to you and ask you who Jesus is to you, would you be able to answer in a way that implies that you really know Jesus, so that person knows that you truly believe that Jesus is your savior and the one true lord, or would you just say that is he just the guy that died on the cross for us? Think about it. Who is Jesus to you? What does he mean to you?
We have to believe in what Jesus tells him and who he really is and we will be saved. Jesus says he is going to die to save us all, and we have to trust him. –
Peter says that Jesus is Jesus when the other disciples doubted Peter. It’s easy to reject god in many ways. We should always accept Him and follow His way and words. God is always here for us, so we should appreciate that.
Peter was the only Apostle who had enough faith to say that Jesus is God. However, when Jesus explained His plan for salvation, Peter tried to dissuade Jesus from doing His plan which is exactly what the devil wanted, which is why Jesus said, “Get behind me, Satan.” I believe that Jesus is truly God our Savior.
Jesus wants us to stay faithful even when others do not. Being a Christian can sometimes be hard, but if we always focus on Jesus, we can get to heaven.
Christ is ALWAYS ready for us to fully open ourselves up to him and to embrace his word and share his love with everyone. God is always waiting, always waiting for us. We need to show him that we love him and we need to give ourselves up for him. I always say this to myself but it is a lot harder than it seems but if we do we will be filled with the Holy Spirit, and what more could we want?
The purpose of today’s gospel is to show us the great significance of how God implores us to do great things in today’s world. Through speaking to his disciples he states he will die and rise. Jesus Christ rose from the dead and went to the right hand of God the Father. This is what drives our faith, what we believe in. The basis of our belief is Jesus. Our main source of belief is his resurrection.
“Who do you say that I am?” is the most deciding question of someone’s beliefs. Who I say Jesus is The Christ. I say that Jesus is The One who came to Earth as God, is God, and forever shall be God, who came not for Himself, but for us, so that we may be saved, and that we can return to Him one day in Paradise.
from this scripture I got that Jesus is humble. Jesus just wants devoted people to worship God. We must trust and listen to God no matter what.
In today’s scripture Jesus asks His disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” There has been many people saying different names that Jesus could be. Then He asked “But who do you say that I am?”This is pointing to us and how we need to know who Jesus is. Jesus is our Savor who died on the cross, we need to get to know Him and trust in Jesus.
This tells me to be friends with Jesus so I know him. This also tells me to know Jesus personally.
People do ask who God is. BUt how do they ansrew. God is our savior, our bestfriends, our lord, etc. There are so many names for God, He came to us to save us. He is the reason the earth turns. There was no big bang theory, there was no accident, Jesus made us on purpose, Why? BECAUSE HE LOVES US! To me, God is all of teh above and can’t wait for the day I get to see Him face to face.
Jesus asked the disciples who he is they said the Lord Jesus Christ. Even today many people can answer that question we need to learn more about Jesus by reading the Gospels and learning his life so we can learn who he is.
God is for everyone. All types of people worship Him. He loves everyone with all His heart. Even if you don’t love Him, He will always love you.
To me Jesus is our savior. Jesus is God come down to earth as the most humble of being, as a human. As a child. He came as the lowliest of creatures to open the gates of Heaven to us. Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is my best friend.
Today Jesus is asking me who do you think I am? This is a question we need to be able to answer. Jesus is My Lord and My God. Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead. Jesus is God’s son who gave his life for us. Jesus gave his life so that we might have eternal life.
Jesus is asking if we really believe that He is God. He says that we need to have faith in Him and we need to trust Him.
We must practice our faith. We cannot just pray at school and before meals and say that we are close to God. That’s not how it works. We need to pray and worship God in our own time, and show Him that we love Him.
In this scripture Jesus is saying he will come again and will take us to heaven if we follow what he wants us to do. Jesus will rise again on judgement day so we must repent until the day comes
We all sin because we all sinners but if we do the worst sin ever God will always love us no mater what we do he will always love us.
In this Scripture passage, I think that sometimes we forget who God is sometimes. We deny and ignore Him when we really need Him the most. That’s why we need to prioritize Him, and that we need to reflect on what we do for others and God. In the end, we don’t have anything from Earth except our soul, so we need to know and praise who God is.
In the scripture Jesus is telling us that he is not one person that he is fully divine. That God is something to be ashamed about and that we need to love all people as ourselves either way if they are not catholic. Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit he is the creator of heaven and earth, alpha and omega, The messiah and the ultimate Guide.
God shows us that he is Christ and we need to express our true self even if people do not believe us.
In today’s reading with peter he try’s and try’s to let all the people know about the one true God by teaching kids in anyway he could and he did so and got beheaded, i could relate to that by trying to preach to non Catholics public school kids that don’t know about God. Preach the good news
I learned that God doesn’t care about our popularity, money, or our possessions. The one true thing He cares about is just us and our love for Him. He deserves all of our love and we need to show Him that we love Him endlessly. He died on the cross for us. He went through all of that pain and suffering just so we could be alive and live freely. We need to stop caring about ourselves so much and just take some time out of our day to glorify and worship Him. He deserves it ALL.
Peter was the only one to faithfully follow Jesus. We have to be like Peter and live out the Gospel and truly follow Jesus everyday. We also have to put faith in God everyday of our life while living out the Gospel.
Today’s Gospel is telling us that God is not just God but man Spirit and the creator of the universe. We need to remember that we need to believe in him and not just what we want but God and God only.
Knowing Jesus is to trust in him and let him into our life. He tells the apostles that he would die and rise 3 days later, but they still doubted him. I’m going to apply this to my life by not doubting Jesus and doing what he would do
In this scripture God is telling me that life is important. People always say life is short but it is the longest thing we will experince on this earth. God put us on earth for a little just so we can get to heaven
I say that Jesus is our Savior, and he’s the way to heaven. This is what makes us Christian. This is us.
I can put this into my life by listening to God’s word. Every time I sin I get closer to the devil and I need to make Christ the center of my life to prevent this.
i think this means that no matter what Jesus is always Christ but some people will think otherwise and think he is another prophet but he is always Christ.
I know it maybe hard to believe in something you cant see! But Jesus Christ is actually there and you need to let him be part of your life.
i think this means that no matter what Jesus is always Christ but some people will think otherwise and think he is another prophet but he is always Christ no matter what.
People didn’t know the true identity of Jesus. They knew that he could perform these miracles and they would crowd around him and ask for him to do all this stuff. They thought it was John the Baptist or some other guy. Peter knew he was Christ. We can train ourselves to recognize what God is calling us to we can hear that voice inside our head. We just have to train our minds to pick out God’s voice from all the other stuff.
This scripture is telling me that there are so many distractions in life right now, and we only care about those! It reminds me of Lent! All the distractions are supposed to be put away for the 40 days Jesus had to walk. Giving up Video’Games, YouTube, or Coffee is a big start and are also distractions from is being with God. Lent is the time of year to Pray, talk, and Praise God.
If you are a true follower of Jesus you will trust him and let him into your life by praying everyday and encounter him in your heart. If you trust in him that means you believe he is truly present and will answer your prayer if you just wait and receive his abundant mercy and Love. We should always trust him no matter what going on. He truly loves us more than we know it. So we need to really love him back.
While reading this I know that God is our savior and he is saving us. We should always know that God is good and is always guiding us to Heaven.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus reveals who he is and what will happen to him to his Apostles. We need to remember that Christ is Our Lord and died for us. What I took away from the scripture today, is that we need to humble ourselves.
This scripture passage is telling me that Jesus is the one true king who is willing to lay down his life for us. He humbled himself to a lowly human and he tells his apostles that he must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed, and rise after three days.
God reveals himself in many ways. He is great and we know and love him.
Jesus will always tell us what to do and we must follow him. Satan will always be there tempting us to turn away from God but we have to ignore him. We should trust in God and do what he has planned for us.
I think the scripture today is telling me that others will say different things about Jesus such as he isn’t really God. I need to remain steadfast in my faith and say that Jesus was truly Christ, God, and the Messiah. In the scripture it says that some people think Jesus was just another prophet, not the true God. However, like Peter, we know that he is truly Christ.
i think that today’s scripture is saying that some of us do not truly believe in god but only say that we do from the constant reminder to. We are like robots saying Jesus is the messiah after asked who Jesus is because we were trained to do that. we do this instead of truly believing in him like we are called to do.
In this Jesus tests his deciples and afterward, he warns them not to tell anyone because even Jesus needs time to pray in peace and not be bothered. We need to learn that we all have trouble with leaving celebrities alone. But some of us can control in and this brings back a post my mom read to me. Patric Mahomes and his girlfriend were eating at a resturant in Kansas City and the hole time not one person bothered them, when they got up no one person bothered them, and when they were leaving Patrick turns around and says “This is why I love Kansas, you are all so kind, thank you.” aftarward it was revealed that Patrick had paid everyones bill that was in that resturant.
Today, Jesus asks us who he is. Today’s society would tell us that he isn’t the Christ. That he was just some delusional person, who lived over 2 thousand years ago. But Jesus wants to know who WE think he is. Because if you don’t believe that he is God’s son, sent from Heaven, who’s full human and fully divine, who died on a cross so that we might be saved from our own sin and selfishness, then you don’t deserve to be called Christian. It’s also interesting that when Jesus was preaching how the Messiah must die, and rise again on the third day, Peter tried to stop him. As humans we act like our reputation is the most important thing. Peter didn’t want someone, even someone he has followed for a long time, to ruin his reputation by speaking something that sounds crazy. In middle school, we try to do this too. We avoid that person, we ignore them, we stay away from that group, so that our reputation isn’t damaged. Now, don’t get me wrong, reputations are important to get a scholarship for college, or to get a decent job, but it is not the most important thing in the world, and as humans, we act like it is. So think about it. Who is Jesus to you, and are you putting him first above everything else in your life?
Jesus is human and divine. The people didn’t quite see that He is divine. They thought that He was a prophet, they didn’t get that He is the Son of God who must die for our sins so that we can have eternal life with Him in Heaven.
Jesus is Christ…..in today’s scripture we are told that no matter what we are told Jesus will never just be a apostle he is the most high CHRIST
Jesus is telling us that he is the one true God. The Holy one. All divine. In one body.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks his Apostles what they say he is. I can apply this to my life by not caring about popularity, money, and possessions.
I can apply this scripture to my life today by remembering who Jesus truly is. Today in the gospel, it said that there were many different titles that people thought that Jesus was and Peter had the only right one. Some people who read this will think that that was only a problem back 2,000 years ago, but the truth is we still have that problem today. Some people think that Jesus is just a guy floating in heaven judging us, others think he is some stupid fake guy, and still others don’t even care to know who he is.
Today, Jesus reveals his identity while slowly traveling to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. Some believed he was John the Baptist, others Elijah and many other Prophets. But it is Peter, who replies to Jesus, “You are the Christ.” In a similar way, we must recognize who Jesus is, establish his identity and live our lives humbly to truly gather God’s graces and ascend into heaven as a result.
Jesus wants us to trust in Him always. We need to stay faithful even if other people aren’t. If we trust in God we will succeed in all we do.
It surprises me that Jesus didn’t want them to spread the word that he is God. I think that He wants people to come to the conclusion that He is God on their own. You need free will to love.
