“BUT NOW YOU ARE TRYING TO KILL ME, A MAN WHO HAS TOLD YOU THE TRUTH THAT I HEARD FROM GOD.” JN 8:31-42

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Jesus reveals in plain language again that He is the Messiah. This is Good News. We are broken, we inherited a loss of holiness from Adam and Eve, we are sinners who need a Savior. God the Father sent Him to save us. We remind ourselves of this by looking in the mirror and recognizing our brokenness and sin during Lent to prepare for the day a Savior is born. Today, our culture is continually killing Jesus, the Truth.

The Devil wants us to have so much information that we cannot find the Truth. It is very difficult to find the Truth on the Internet, a vast highway of information. There is only one objective Truth revealed by God the Father through Jesus called Divine Revelation. St. Thomas Aquinas states, “Truth cannot contradict itself’.

It is impossible for there to be multiple truths or there is no truth. This is the heresy of relativism. You believe what you want and I will believe what I want then the world will be a nice peaceful place. False. We are created to be in union with the one true God who revealed himself today in his son Jesus. Stop. Slow down and listen. God is revealing himself to you personally today.

Everyone has their own opinion which is subjective and we are going nowhere with no purpose if everyone gets on social media and has an opinion. God is Truth. He created us to be rightly ordered with mission and purpose. If we are ever struggling in life, we can come to God and His Word to teach us the Truth and make the right decisions.

Are we like the Jews and want to kill Jesus, the Truth? Are we like today’s culture (and every culture since the beginning of time) who want to kill the Truth? Why? The truth divides. “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.” MT 12:30
It requires courage in the face of fear. If there is no courage there is no growth.

I just attended a conference that told a lot of truth. “Nobody wants to be average,” was a catch phrase of the speaker. We discussed that for growth to happen we had to change. When we are not growing or feel like we are accomplishing anything we get stuck or scared. What relationship in your life is stuck because you or the other person won’t change (I emphasize you because we cannot change others)? What fear do you have to overcome causing you to be stuck?

Jesus is Truth and He will not change, He is the rock (In this time of stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, struggle with sin, cancer, being accepted, have an uncertain future, etc. cling to the One who is unchanging). He is love, Truth, and the first good. We all want these, but get stuck or we are scared causing us not to change. If we want to be holy and be with Jesus forever, we have to change. How? Our yes, our fiat (accepting God who is trying to act on us), cooperating with God’s grace and bringing ourselves to his grace in prayer, the sacraments, fasting, giving to the poor, and doing works of mercy.

Today’s challenge: Get out of the way and allow God to transform you. It is hard, it requires that you look in the mirror and hold yourself accountable, and you have to change. Be not afraid, Jesus gave all to be with you each step of the way! He is not dead but fully alive, He has risen!

Be a servant, be a saint today!

We inherited a loss of holiness from Adam and Eve which is why we need a savior. God reveals that He is the savior and that we must recognize that we are sinners and we need Him. We reflect on ourselves during this Lenten season and try to cut away from the bad habits and create a stronger relationship with God.

“If our God, whom we serve, can save us from the white-hot furnace and from your hands.” This stuck out to me because it shows us that God will be there for us no matter what. He will get us out of anything. He put us in that situation for a reason but He will never let us get hurt if its not His plan for us.

Today Jesus tells if you sin then you are a slave to sin but if the son frees you you are truly free. What he’s telling you is if you sin he (the son of God) can free you from your sin and you will no longer be a slave to the sin.

“If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and am here; I did not come on my own, but he sent me.” This stuck out to me because sometimes we hear things from others about God or the Gospel and we just set it aside like it doesn’t matter. Then we act like we love God in Heaven. We have to care for Him in front of others too. We can’t just love Him when we are by ourselves and forget about Him when we are with our friends or classmates. We need to always love Him fully.

“know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” We spend all this time trying to find something that will fill our spirit, like money or fame, but we fail to realize the solution is right in front of us, God’s truth, follow him and you will be at peace.

I feel like this is talking about how we need to be with Jesus. We need to ask Him for forgiveness during our prayer. He is and will always be there to listen to us even if you don’t think He is. When we sin He is there when we just need a person to talk to He is still there He will never leave us.

Today’s scripture we learn that, Jesus reveals to us he is the Messiah and we are in preposition for Jesus and Mary. That’s why they are covered up at mass. We are near Easter now and Jesus is going to return to the disciples and a miracle happens right before their eyes.

Today Jesus reminds us of the truth. Jesus is the son of God and he has always tried to show that to us and we need to believe him. Jesus is God cause he loves and cares for all that is why he died on the cross for us. He also reminds us of our freedom he shows us that we need to choose the good because he wont force us. Free will is what is says the freedom to do what we want and there is one thing that we must do. Pray and Listen for God.

A part that stuck out to me was “”Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. A slave does not remain in a household forever, but a son always remains. So if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free.” I think Jesus is telling us that we all sin and we all will be sinners but as long as we ask for forgiveness from Him we will be set free from our sins because Jesus remains.

Every time we do something wrong we become a slave to sin. When we go to confession this morning, Jesus, who is acting through the priest, frees us from our captivity to sin. When there is a lot of information, it makes it hard to find what is true and what is not. The heresy of relativism is shown really plainly on the internet. If we all just believe what we believe and let others believe what they believe, then it will all be fine. We are not made for everyone to disagree and be separated from one another. God calls us to be one holy catholic apostolic church. In one catholic we are called to be united universally by us all believing in God and the Truth. We find this Truth through silence, not from pounding ourself with useless information online.

Dealing with Jesus is frustrating. It was probably annoying having to listen to all of the wisdom that came out of his mouth. We would get mad, and we would be envious of his righteousness. The reason for this is because we are sinners. We are slaves, and what slave likes to hear a master preach about freedom? We have an innate desire to be free, and we are like the Israelites who thought that going back to Egypt would have been better than simply to keep wandering in the wilderness. Jesus is the Moses that keeps our eyes on the prize of the promised land. He helps us to see that there is more out there than just a better pair of shackles, or a richer lord. He shows us true freedom whenever we receive the Eucharist, and in doing so, he breaks the bonds that hold us. He shatters the lie that death is final, that life is worthless. Jesus gives us purpose, and when we fulfill that purpose, we are happy. This is what heaven is. When we have made it to the promised land, the new Jerusalem, we will have completed our goal, our journey through the wilderness. We will be forever complete with Jesus, and in happiness.

Something that I got out of this was that Jesus is all that we need. There is nothing else in this world that could satisfy us more than Jesus Christ, and I think that a lot of people do not know or realize that, which is a sad thing, but it is our job to go to them, spread the faith to the people that aren’t as fortunate as us, the beatitudes teach us to help the sick, clothe the naked, and we need to follow these, if we do than we will have eternal life, and if we don’t than we will have eternal damnation.

We need courage. Courage builds us up and helps us to stand up after failing. If we fail, we need to try again and again until we succeed. Just like Jesus. He fell due to the weight of the cross three times, yet He didn’t give up. He tried and tried and once he got to Calvary, He died for us. So we should take up our cross and keep trying with confidence. Even if nobody is watching you do something.

Today Jesus tells us to be set free by him and no longer be enslaved by sin. At first the people listening to Him say that they have never really been enslaved, and then Jesus reveals He means enslaved by sin. ““Amen, amen, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.” We may not believe that we are enslaved, and that we can resist temptation, but without Jesus’ help we don’t stand a chance.

It shouldn’t be scary to go to confession because God is always willing to forgive a sin although it may take some time he is the most forgiving person. So much that he sent his son to die on a cross to forgive our sins. Jesus and God will always love us and always forgive.

Something that sticks out to me in the Gospel today is that the people say they have one father and it is God but Jesus is the father. Then they go to say we only recognize one man as our father and that is Abraham. We are children of Abraham and God. Then Jesus has a good comeback to that and says no your not because you would love me if you were a son of God and Abraham. Earlier Jesus says you will be a slave to sin once you commit sin but if you follow me and are truly sorry for your sins then you will be saved and no longer a slave to sin. This part about sin relates to our lives because YOU ARE a slave to sin if you commit sins. But all you have to do is be truly sorry and go to confession to have your sins washed away. The part about them being children of God and Abraham relates to us because we are all children of God even if we disobey him or don’t listen to him he still loves us.

Were always trying to make our opinions the truth when there not which makes the truth wrong. We always try to be popular and leave a mark on the world, but what we should be trying to do is make people think about God not popularity and stuff that people think is funny. All it takes is for one person to do the right thing and then more and more people will turn there lives around to do the right thing with you.

I feel like this passage is saying that people would hurt others if they tell the truth. Most people would kill others if they tell the world or if they pronounce the gospel. Everybody has a belief and something that they worship, us Christians have a living and true God. Other people have different beliefs but we shouldn’t kill them for it or hurt them. These saints that are told because all of their stories are like that. They killed them because of there faith, it’s crazy to think about it. We should live like the saints we should never hide our faith against others. We need to have courage, brave-heart, and a loving mind, in order to overcome those fears against the temptaion of the devil. Pray to God, read about saints, always have a clean soul, and have a peaceful relationship with God. That will get you to heaven if you live like the saints, or start becoming one.

The part that stuck out to me was “Be not afraid, Jesus gave all to be with you each step of the way!” That stuck out to me because it is telling me that I should never be afraid because Jesus is always with you no matter what it is. Jesus gave everything up for us, he is always with us through the good and the bad. Jesus loves us and will never leave us.

Today, our culture is continually killing Jesus, the Truth. I never really think how bad our culture is killing Jesus. I know our culture is bad but I didn’t think it was that bad. God is the truth. He is the one to follow. Not the people you see on social media. They don’t always tell the truth. They might say “I have no insecurities and I am perfect.” That is the biggest lie you have ever heard. Everyone (including me) doesn’t think they are perfect. Even if they say they are. God is the one who loves all. He is the one we should be trusting. We should be trusting him with our lives.

Today’s scripture talks about how much God loves us and cares for us and without him we would be lost “If we are ever struggling in life, we can come to God and His Word to teach us the Truth and make the right decisions”. without God it can be hard making bad decisions, and falling apart but you should know that you need to know to just need to slow down and God always love you. and that you should love God because that is happiness.

there are many people that spend up to half an hour doing their hair in the mirror. Making sure they didn’t miss a single strand of hair. If we were to put that kind of attention into Jesus, we would all be in heaven. We let our minds and desire blind us to what is truly important in our short earthly lives. We were saved 2000 years ago, but we still ignore it.

Jesus is trying to tell us that we should not sin because once we do it we are a slave to it. 1 time becomes 2, 2 becomes 4, 4 becomes 16 and so on. We must fight it so that it doesn’t become our addiction or the chains that weigh us down, and the best way to not get addicted is to never try or do it.

I feel like the more you pray, the more you can say you know Jesus. Of course, by knowing Him I mean talking to Him enough to where you feel like you know Him. It’s weird, saying you know someone that’s “not there” even though Jesus really is there. He is with us wherever we go, whether we remember or not. I also feel like I’ve grown more in my faith just because of doing these scripture reflections and being in this class.

We had the chance today to go to confession. Today if you went he forgave our sins but he didn’t free us. We still struggle with the bonds of sin everyday and most of us have already blurred our Halos. When we are saved as when we finally have the nails driven into our cross and we sit in the sun. When we die we go to purgatory and then hopefully to Heaven. When we finally give into the devil and leave this world the devil thinks he has you until Jesus frees you from all the chains that were bonding you to him. Jesus takes all of those off and brings you with Him to the Father. When we sin on Earth you just add another bond and the more bonds you have the harder it is to get them off unless you go to Confession regularly. Jesus wants us with Him in Heaven. So today try your very hardest not to sin because Jesus saved you and will save you whenever you fall.

The scripture is trying to tell us that Jesus Christ is the truth. And he reveals himself every time to us at mass when the priest consecrates the bread and the wine. Every time at mass we get reminded that Jesus loves us and he is the truth.

In life people fail and they get back up again to try again or just quit. I think Iḿ the quitter, if something doesn´t work then i stop, because normally i know it´s too hard unless someone is pushing me to do so. I just want to be good at what I am, not what others expect me to be. Some people always try again even if they fail over and over, but that’s a loop in my opinion, being stuck on it over and over, not accomplishing anything but failing each time. What are you to God? Do you quit when you don´t attend mass or do you do mass over and over unless your brain is just a muscle of that memory?

I think what God talked about was having false Gods. We need to get all our distractions away from us so we can fuolly give our life to God. In the end he is all who matters and when we have things in our way like our phones it will lead us in the wrong way.

We need to truly and deeply believe in God and praise Him because He is our creater. We dont deserve Him at all. But yet He still loved us no matter what. He will never not love us. ¨‘He is our God.’
You do not know him, but I know him.¨

Jesus has revealed himself through many things so we can know him. He is our light, what we should strive for. God is revealing himself to us slowly. There are so many things out in the world telling us He is not real or not our savior but if we listen to what Jesus has to say He says it plainly, Jesus is the Truth.

The Gospel is telling me that God is the truth, we have to replace all of our temptations that we have and fill them in with God’s truth. To replace temptation with God’s truth we have to open our hearts, and we have to be ready to trust him.

    for I came from God and am here;
I did not come on my own, but he sent me.
he tells us that he came from God that he is the son of God so they know and they trust him but instead they put him to death

God is the truth and we need the truth. We need to trust in God and what he does for us. God is someone you can trust and believe in.
