“THE SON OF MAN DID NOT COME TO BE SERVED.” MT 20:20-28
Submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Prayer Prompt before reading MT 20:20-28 : Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and Son are so that I may know the Truth about who I am.
The mother of the sons of Zebedee (one of them being James) asks Jesus to have one of her sons sit in heaven on each side of Jesus. Jesus responds with the strong theme throughout the Gospels: humility not pride. Jesus is the perfect model. He is God and He comes to earth to take on a human nature and suffer, most importantly to die. He takes on slavery.
Why? Love. He wanted all of us to be able to get back to the Father, so He made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us. Who have you really loved lately, putting them before yourself to glorify God for what He has done for us. When you make that decision, it will be the best one you make because you are doing what you were made for. Be a servant, be a saint today!
Today’s challenge: Be a slave to helping those around you, showing the love of Jesus through you.
