“KING HEROD HEARD ABOUT JESUS, FOR HIS FAME HAD BECOME WIDESPREAD.” MK 6:14-29
Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Prayer Prompt before reading MK 6:14-29: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.
What happens when we are in a powerful position and our power is threatened? It could be popularity, fame, a high office, a position of authority. The first thing we will think is to take away the threat. This is what King Herod does with John the Baptist.
This is the first thought of most humans. Jesus teaches us, as the most powerful, that in power of position we should be humble, a servant. Jesus, the God-man, the most powerful, taught us to submit ourselves to the will of God.
Jesus came to us in the flesh to teach us that the most powerful should be the most humble of servants. We are called to be in service to others. “If we are to become saints/enter heaven, we have to realize that finally our lives are not about us”. —-excerpt from Bishop Barron “The Strangest Way”
“Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped. But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in every way like a human being, he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross. And for this God raised him high, and gave him the name which is above all other names; so that all beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name of Jesus and that every tongue should acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
Phil 2: 5-11
Make your own the mind of Christ, empty yourself, be humble, and become a slave for others, especially if you are in a position of authority.
Today’s challenge: Be humble, by your baptism, become a slave of Christ, and do all things in His name, especially if you are in a position of authority.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
#Christian YOLO
I think this Jesus is trying to tell
us that we should not give into peer pressure,
but always do what is right.
St. John the Baptist followed Jesus’s example by being humble. He baptized thousands of people, but in the end, was taken to prison for what he taught to people. Herod liked John, but when his wife’s daughter asked for John the Baptist’s head, he gave it to her on a silver platter. John was humble, even to the end of his life.
I think God is trying to say that many souls are lost to temptation like when Herod was tempted into beheading John the Baptist because he wanted to be a man of his word. We cant let the devil tempt us into doing things against God.
In todays gospel John the Baptist was excited because of a girls mother requesting the head. I have a slight question to this story why did the girls mother ask for the head. The king was very displeased with the girls request by the way he acted he actually cared for John.
Something that I thought was interesting was that King Harrod switched up on John the Baptist as soon as some people that also had power, he got peered pressure into cutting another man’s head off, because he was too scared to say no, he was to scared because he thought that they were going to cut his head off to, and we should not fold to pier pressure as most of the time it is a bad thing. They want you to do something that you would never do by yourself, and we should be able to say no to them, and the devil as they try to make us do bad stuff
Jesus, the God-man, the most powerful, taught us to submit ourselves to the will of God.Jesus came to us in the flesh to teach us that the most powerful should be the most humble of servants. We are called to be in service to others. “If we are to become saints/enter heaven, we have to realize that finally our lives are not about us”.
Jesus tells us that our lives aren’t about us but about serving others. I we make to make it to heaven realize our lives our made for service of others.
In this reading I think that God is telling me that I need to worship him because I love him and not because of school and other reasons just because I love him, and i need to believe in Him when I am down because He will always help me when I need it. We all need to be like him in every way we can even if it is a small thing.
“If we are to become saints/enter heaven, we have to realize that finally our lives are not about us”. Today Jesus is telling me that the world does not revolve around us, but instead Him. He is our world and what we need to live for eternity. He is our world so we should give to Him, and Him only. Once we give to Him He will give back, He will love us forever, but we just have to make sure we aren’t selfish.
Today’s Gospel is talking about the death of John the Baptist.
It was so gruesome. It was compared to the passion of Christ.
The Passion of Christ was terrible but it saved us from our
sins.
In todays gospel it says “Make your own the mind of Christ, empty yourself, be humble, and become a slave for others, especially if you are in a position of authority.”Ithink this means that we shouldnt have to be afraid to show that we love God.Also showing that we would do anything for him.
“The first thing we will think is to take away the threat. This is what King Herod does with John the Baptist.” We feel that most people are a threat to us, with something they have and we don’t or something they do and we wish we did too. “If we are to become saints/enter heaven, we have to realize that finally our lives are not about us”. —-excerpt from Bishop Barron “The Strangest Way” This stuck out because its the truth. To live a Holy, great life we have to realise life is not all us, were not the the main focus every second.
What happens when we are in a powerful position and our power is threatened.is something that stuck out to me because it really makes me wonder what would happen if some was gifted these abilities
In today’s gospel John the Baptist got his head chopped off. This is so wrong because the king knew it was wrong and he still did it just to not go back on his word. Which is good but not in this case. John the Baptist shouldn’t have gotten killed just because they wanted his head. This shows us to be strong when we are being pressured.
Something that really stuck out to me today was that it wasn’t the daughter that actually wanted the head. It was the queen that wanted his head. So I am kind of wondering like did her mother have some dirt on the daughter or was she really just loyal to her mom. She literally could have had anything she wanted and she decided to let her mom choose what she wanted. I’m also kind of wondering did the king know that it was really what the queen wanted and not the queen’s daughter. Also the fact that he was a king of such royalty and all Herodia’s daughter had to do was give him a dance and she got WHATEVER she wanted. That is just mind boggling to me.
“I will grant you whatever you ask of me” this to me sounds like God but can be a different person like satan he will try to keep you away from God. he is always trying to and if you let him trick you it is called a sin.and the more you sin the less you will make it to heaven.
“KING HEROD HEARD ABOUT JESUS, FOR HIS FAME HAD BECOME WIDESPREAD.” When Herod heard that Jesus was becoming more popular he got jealous which is not good because Jesus was doing good and Herod got Jealous. In the reflection it says that the first thing that comes to mind is to get rid of that threat which in that time could mean killing Jesus. God taught us to submit our wills to God so we can follow Him so we need to not be Jealous of other people but we should be happy for them.
Make your mind like Jesus . Jesus was made flesh to come and tell to be humble servants of God. He taught us all about the gospel and how to humbly submit ourselves to God. He said come and serve the Father.
All the high powered people King Herod is certain that John the Baptist is a prophet and has powers but no. John was chosen by the father to be called John and to mark people as a child of God. People think that is crazy, Jesus does the same but in a different way as he said ” I am the revaluation of the living father.” It says it right there. John had a relationship that was powerful. he was able to connect with God and say these people are your children, let them see that. So as Herod was drunk and the girl won, the mother was so obsessed with killing John, Jesus could feel the hurt of John leaving and it’s sad there was a connection. Then John was beheaded, during the chosen I watched the episode when John was beheaded and it’s crazy because he saw a lamb. The lamb represented Jesus and John and they will suffer and die, but become savior to the world. All the people who were marked by John were saved they could understand Jesus’s teachings to get to Heaven. If we can pay attention to our Baptism, lets remember that we are marked as a child of God and the father is chasing us. Will we run to him.
In the Gospel King Herod promised to give a girl whatever she wanted, not knowing that she would ask for the head of John the Baptist. When she did ask for it, the king didn’t want to break his promise in front of everyone because he was probably afraid that it would ruin his reputation. So instead of doing what would have been right, he gave the girl the head of John the Baptist. When we have to choose between our popularity or reputation or someone else’s own good, we should not let our wants interfere with the needs of others. We need to be selfless and humble.
Today’s gospel is about people in power how once your in power you will do any thing to stay in power Herod’s position in power was threatened by John the baptist because he lived with his brothers wife this causes him to want to kill him for challenging his rule
” Jesus teaches us, as the most powerful, that in power of position we should be humble, a servant. Jesus, the God-man, the most powerful, taught us to submit ourselves to the will of God.” i think this is imporant becuse power is inpotant but some pople take an anfange of it and also we need to be more humble and be a servant for God and God has the most power and he is the most powerful prsone ever he died on the cross for us so that how powerful be his
“Make your own the mind of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped. But he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming as human beings are; and being in every way like a human being, he was humbler yet, even to accepting death, death on a cross.” i think this is important because its jesus is telling us to make our own mind of jesus christ
I think God is trying to tell me to be humble about my faith and be a slave of God. the story also told me to teach other to do the right thing.
John the Baptist was doing what God has told him to do which is preach the word of God He was sticking up for what was right and got pushished and the king knew it was wrong but did it anyway.
I think this scripture is saying that we should be giving up our selves for God. Since he died on the cross for us, and gave himself up for us, we should too. We should give up things like time to pray to God.
What I get from this scripture is that even if people are more powerful, they aren’t good people. What makes us good people is following God, respecting him and keeping modesty.
God says make your mind your own, he wants us to empty out all of our worries fears and bad thoughts. He wants us to have a clean mind and be humble.
I thinks its trying to tell us that we need to stand up and say what is right even if it will bring a punishment. The story of John the baptist is a great example of this and hes a role model to stick up for friends family or christianity if others are being rude of hurting anybody. Maybe telling a adult of just saying prayers can help peopl in bad or desperate situations.
John the Baptist followed Jesus by being a prophet and bapitizing 1000s of people. He also followed Jesus’ word by being humble and putting himself before others. I think John the Bapitist died for a good cause because he was trying to help the king be a better person and John made a valient effort.
Something that stuck with me when I started reading this was “Come Holy Spirit”. The reason I think it stuck with me is because everyday we need the Holy Spirit to help us with our daily life and its saying for the Holy Spirit to come down and come within us and help us with our life so I think it can mean a lot when we call down the Holy Spirit
I think Jesus is trying to tell me that we should not let sin take over our lives, because if we do we will be forced to make choices that we don’t want to make and we won’t be able to make it to heaven.
John The Baptist made a very brave statement and told king Herod that he can’t marry his brother’s wife. King Herod was not happy about this. He then had someone come in and she asked for John the Baptist head and he took it.
I think today’s Gospel is about not doing the wrong things to make yourself feel powerful but do the right things even if it makes you feel the same about yourself.
I thinks its trying to tell us that we need to stand up and say what is right even if it will bring a punishment. The story of John the baptist is a great example of this and hes a role model to stick up for friends family or christianity if others are being rude of hurting anybody. Maybe telling a adult of just saying prayers can help people in bad or desperate situations.
In this daily scripture God says that we should be humble servants and believe with all of our hearts. He says that in order to become saints/enter heaven we must realize that our lives are not about us
I think it means to give myself to the LORD! It was beautiful.
Today Jesus taught me that not everything matters. When it comes to social media or in the real world no popularity no money can make you any different. SO if you are rich in any popularity or money use that for good of the Lord.
“If we are to become saints/enter heaven, we have to realize that finally our lives are not about us”. I think if we want to become saints or make our way to heaven we have to follow the way Jesus did. Because he died for our sins and I think it’s important because if he saw us all in heaven he would be super happy for us.
What the Gospel is telling me is that we can’t just focus on ourselves our whole life. its also telling us that Jesus died on the cross for us that’s why we shouldn’t only focus on ourselves. that we should also focus on other people and church!! That we should help other people with everything so we can also help them go to heaven!!!!!!!
Herod feared John because he was righteous and holy man.
I think the gospel today is telling me that even if you are powerful, no one is more powerful that Jesus so you should always value that because you may think your the best but in reality Jesus is the best.
I think in this gospel it tells me that we need to know right from wrong and not to fall into peer pressure to do something that God wouldn’t want us to do.
Today I felt like God was telling me to always do the right thing even when pressured by others to do wrong. In the gospel today, Herod did the wrong thing and executed John. I think God wants us to always do the right thing in our lives.
I think God is telling us to not give in to peer pressure
but to always do what is right no mater the situation
“Jesus came to us in the flesh to teach us that the most powerful should be the most humble of servants.” I think God is telling us to be humble and always do what is right even if others are doing what is wrong. He’s saying not be scared to show that you love him and believe in him.
In today’s Gospel it said at the end “He will keep you firm to the end” and what that makes me think is that Jesus will always be right by our side and everywhere we go He will be there until the end of life Jesus Christ will be with you till the end.
I think God is telling me that we have to tell the Good News that Jesus is here, and we should be praising the angels, the saints, the Lord.
I think that Jesus is telling me that if I live a life of selflessness, and am empathetic and have sympathy I will have the richest lifestyle in love of God.
I think it’s saying don’t do the wrong thing because of other people or you feel like you have to.
I think today’s gospel, God was trying to tell us to resist temptation, like King Herod beheading John the baptist
We are not as perfect as Jesus, but even then we should try our hardest to be like him, and to see like a saint. King Herod knew right from wrong but instead of not wanting to break his promise in front of everyone he complied with the girls request. King Herod lust for power was strong and him compiling with the girls request showed he would’ve rather done what’s wrong than lose the power he had. Jealousy also got a hold on King Herod “KING HEROD HEARD ABOUT JESUS, FOR HIS FAME HAD BECOME WIDESPREAD.” I do wonder why the mother of the girl asked for the head of John the Baptist, it seems like an odd request to me.
In the gospel Herod likes John the baptist when he was speaking the word of God.But when Herod promised the girl what ever she wanted she wanted John the Baptist head.Herod was distressed when this had happen, but sense he couldn’t break his promise he told the executioner too behead John the Baptist. What I’m getting out of today’s gospel is,always never say something if you don’t mean it like don’t say a promise if you can’t keep it.
Jesus came to our world to teach us that the most powerful people should be the most humble people. King Herod felt threatened by John the baptist so he used his power to get rid of him. This teaches us that no matter how much power you have, you should never use it for bad and always be humble.
When it says: “Make your own mind of Christ, empty yourself, be humble, be a slave of others, expetually if you are in a position of authority.” I feel like he is saying that to not bring others down, and to believe in yourself even in the bad times and when life is hard. Also when it says make your own mind for Chris I think that its telling us that we should pray everyday and think about that Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
I like this gospel because God is showing us to not be tempted by the devil. The devil tempts us humans in many different way
just like Herod trying to kill John the baptist. Jesus also taught us not to hold a grudge, its like in your brain your like this person is
so ugly and so mean I hate him I will never like him, Jesus tells us not to do that an instead Just talk to that person like you would talk to
your best friend. Treat everyone with kindness and BE like Jesus. Grudge is bad habit to get into because grudge is a type of habit thats a sin and not easy to get rid of, so if your holding a grudge on anyone being in your family, your teachers, friends, and anybody at school,Just be nice . Maybe go give them a compliment, you could say hey you look really nice and I hope you have a good day. Its that easy sooooo be nice. pretty please. (:
I think today’s Gospel was saying how we should be humble to God and Jesus. And that we should never hold a grudge against anyone.
Well when I was reading the gospel it was cool that even the king was afraid to hurt John because he was a holy and rightmost man. I also could feel the despair when he had to give the princess John the Baptist head.
I think that it means we need to watch what we say, or we will get stuck in a situation we much would rather not be in
i think it means we should watch what we say so that we can avoid situations that are too uncomfortable.
Jesus is telling us that we should follow him and everything that he has done for us. He tells us that there is many benefits of following him like being able to go to heaven, being able to confess your sins and many more. But he mostly tells us that we should spread the Gospel so more people have the opportunity to live a heavenly life.
In today’s gospel we hear about how Herod had John the Baptist beheaded. I think when the daughter asked Herod for John the baptist’s head he was distressed because he could tell that something about John was special and did not want to ride of him yet. he could sense the holy spirit working through him but did not realize what it was.
Make your own the mind of Christ, empty yourself, be humble, and become a slave for others, especially if you are in a position of authority. this stuck out to me because he is not really saying become a slave for others he’s saying help and love your fellow neighbors they are your brothers and sisters we should respect them and love them cause god wants us to do that and god loved all of us.
If your Faith is threatened then you should always, ALWAYS protect it even if it costs your life. We should always help others, not just tear them down. We should always be humble and be a servant to God.
Something that I thought was ineresting about the gospel was that at first king Herod hated John the baptist and locked him up but as soon as this girl and her mother ask for John the Baptists head he is all spiratic and is very nervous and confused but does go on with it and cuts off his head. It just shows how he changed on his thoughts about John and that in the end he did start to really care about him until he cut off his head😁
I think that this gospel is almost trying to tell us to be like john and not everything is fair. He did everything that is right and even got sent to jail for spreading the gospel. John was always humble till they chopped off his head. This gospel reminded me about John and to look up to him.
Today, Herod was so scared of John, he had him put in prison and was planning on killing him. This stuck out to me because, this scenerio reminds me of jealousy, how when were jealous, we want to hurt that person.
The King had John The Baptist killed which was wrong and he knew it was wrong but he did it so he would not go back on his word.
I think it means that we should not misuse the power if we are so given the power. I think we should not be power hungry and always want more out of everything. We must be led by God to do the good things.
“The king was deeply distressed, but because of his oaths and the guests he did not wish to break his word to her.” I think this means we can’t let our pride get in the way of what is right. Herod enjoyed listening to John the Baptist, but when the girl said she wanted his head, she got it. He didn’t want to break his word and disappoint his guests.
What stuck out to me was that the little girl wasn’t the one to want John the Baptist head cut of it was her mother. This in my brain is kinda like the devil tempting us. We don’t want to hurt people, but the devil tells us to. We don’t want to steal, it’s just the devil tempting us.
In the gospel Herod likes John the baptist when he was speaking the word of God.In today’s scripture reflection Herod could not break his promise. We should not make promises we can’t keep even if they are bad.We should always trust in Gods plan and that He has a plan for each of us even if we do not know it yet.
Today Gospel, talks about John The Baptist getting his head chopped off. He shouldn’t have got his head chopped because the girls mother wanted it to happen. The king even knew it was wrong.
“What happens when we are in a powerful position and our power is threatened? It could be popularity, fame, a high office, a position of authority. The first thing we will think is to take away the threat” this line stuck out to me because what i interpurtet is that sometimes we may get attention or famous and we will try to make ourselves look better by getting rid of our friends or especially Christ since SOME people think its ‘uncool’. but in the end Christ is our biggest fan and he gives us all the attention and admiration we need.
In today’s Gospel, King Herod is the prime example of what happens when he has too much power that he gets what he wants. In today’s Gospel, King Herod tells his daughter that she gets whatever she wants, so she chooses the head of John the Baptists. King Herod knew that was wrong but he decided to do it because he got peered pressure into doing it. We should be humble and not get peered pressure by our friends.
I think what Jesus is trying to tell us that we should use our power for good and not put others down. Nobody is above anybody else and we need treat everyone equal.
“If we are to become saints/enter heaven, we have to realize that finally our lives are not about us”. I have heard this saying before but it still blows my mind. You are always worried about what other people think about you. Maybe it is you worrying about yourself. That doesn’t matter if it is you accepting that it is God that we need not popularity.
In this gospel king Herod arrest John the Baptist but does not kill him until at a party king Herod grants one of the dancers a wish . Anything from half his kingdom to nothing she can have but she asks for johns head not wanting to lie In front of many people he grants her wish and brings his head. We must be like the girl and not ask for fame or richness from God but we shouldn’t ask for nothing as he is merciful and mighty. We must ask highly of him but not for material no we must ask for grace as we are sinners.
“Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man, and kept him in custody” This is telling us that evil people were so afraid of the apostles that they had to lock them up. I think they were afraid because the apostles were more knowledgeable, we need to focus during school so we will be able to see stuff in a smart way and not small mindedly like Herod.
In today’s gospel st John the Baptist was getting executed. A girl asked her mom what she wanted and she said she wanted John the baptist head. The king didn’t want to but he did for his people and his kingdom. This is almost like having temptation. You know its wrong but you still do it.
what i got from this scripture is that we need to stand up for what is right in our religion even if it is followed with consequences.
Herodias is a show that the evil will take advantage of the innocent to get what they want. Herodias wanted John the baptist dead and got her daughter to get it for her. Hared is showing how easy it is to succumb to peer pressure even though we know it is wrong. Hared was on the right path in wanting to listen to John, but he didn’t want his friends to think he was weak so he gave John’s head to his niece.
What I got from this scripture is that God wants us to be happy. Reading this scripture, really made me think of what God wants. Not me. What God wants is for me to love Him with no reason behind it. He wants me to love Him for what He has done for me, not for what I will get in return.
What moved me was that the most powerful should be the most humble of servants. We are called to be in service to others. It felt like that the most powerful should become the servants and be loyal to God.We are all servants to God.
I think God is trying to tell us that things will always spread around. If we talk behind someones back they will most likely find out about it.
John is saying that Jesus is coming back and to repent before its to late. The king also did something wrong by giving the girl the head of John the Baptist.
King Herod arrests John the baptist and has him dance for them during a party. King Herod’s wife dislikes John the baptist and she asks for his head. Herod’s friends pressured him into thinking he wasn’t good enough even though he was a king. He asked for John’s head and gave it to his niece to prove himself to be great. This means that we shouldn’t try to make ourselves a better person by doing something but instead praying to God and helping others become Saints.
I feel like this message is trying to tell us not to be greedy because of how we feel and not God the Father. It can be selfishness talking sometimes which is when we need to shut it down seeing how much damage selfishness brought to John The Baptist.
In today’s reading I think King Herod was willing to do anything for the queen. I felt like he knew it wasn’t the queen’s daughter’s actual wish and he still went along with it. I felt the King didn’t really want to turn on John the Baptist, but felt like he thought he had to.
From this Gospel i am getting that we shall not desire or wish for others, or for their downfall. We need to stick to our faith, and what is good, true and beautiful. We should not be afraid of persecution as long as it is for a just and right reason.
I think the gospel is telling us that Jesus died for us because he WANTED to not because he had to but he wanted to. Everyone has a choice even Jesus did God might have known that he was going to sacrifice himself for us Jesus probably knew that too. Yet Jesus didn’t care he was doing what was right to this day even after everything that has happened he still thinks he made the right choice and he away will.Because he loves us
I think what this scripture is telling me is that we should never give in to temptation if we can help it. we need to stick up for ourselves and don’t let the devil get the best of us. Always do the right thing for the right reason 🙂
I think that Jesus is telling us to always do the right thing. Even if that means getting beheaded. John stood up for what was and always was faithful to Jesus Christ even when he was in Jail. Though John the Baptist died he died in Jesus name which is the best way.
I feel like in this gospel Jesus is saying that even if other people ask of you to do something you believe to be wrong, you shouldn’t go along with it. I think peer pressure is a big problem nowadays (I definitely struggle with it a lot) and even if its not peer pressure then we’re afraid of what others will think of us. I think that if I were in King Herod’s place, I would’ve only said yes to what his niece asked because there were so many people there. I’m sure Herod would’ve had no problem going back on his word (he married his brother’s wife for goodness sake) but he didn’t. And that could’ve been because he didn’t want others to ridicule him for saying no.
“When he heard him speak he was very much perplexed, yet he liked to listen to him.” This line stuck out to me today. I think it is interesting that even though Harod had sinned and commited adultery, He still kept John alive even though John probably told him what he was doing was wrong, everyday. I think even after Harod had done these things, He was still interested in the idea of God.
In today scripture reflection it talked about King Herod and John the Baptist. John was getting excited and a girl had asked her mother what she would want and the girls mother said she wanted John the Baptist’s head. The king did so and had his head cut off. What I had got from this was that is it had to choose what to do and sometimes its the right thing but sometimes it is not and you regret it just like the King had done.
Herod’s niece didn’t ask for John’s head, but his wife wanted it to happen since she disliked John. This shows that the devil is always trying to tempt us. We should always do the right thing and be kind.
Herod understood that although he disliked John the Baptist, he liked to listen to him speak. I think that Herod was beginning to believe what he was saying, but he probably knew that his wife disliked him, so he kept him in jail. I don’t think he really wanted to have John executed but he had to keep his word. I think Herodias is similar to the devil, because she knew John was important but she wanted to end his importance and any power he might have. She was cruel and conniving.
We as humans do not like to be accused of our wronging. John the Baptist was shouting that king Herod and his brother’s wife are sinners. His brother’s wife did not like that, she ordered John the baptist’s head on a platter because he pointed out her wrong. This is an example of how selfish us humans are. Someone who is trying to help us do better and become better people by telling us our sins so we can fix them gets killed because of our selfishness. This story is telling me how selfish us humans are.
In the Gospel Peter was spreading the word of God and King Harrod would listen to him and enjoy it, but when the woman ask for the head of John King Harrod chose to kill Peter. Now King Harrod had the choice he could say yes or no, obviously he agreed but he knew this was wrong but still did it anyways. In life you will have choices, you can either pick the Christ like way or the sinful way. You always have a choice but you need to pick the right one that will lead you to heaven.
“we should be humble, a servant.“ What I get from today ´ s scripture is we should be humble. We need to remember to be humble because we need to recognize that the first step to Christ is humility so we know that God is the greatest. We should try to be like St. John the Baptist.
In today’s Gospel I think that God is telling us that we shouldn’t get tempted by the devil. In the Gospel it kinda seems that the girls mother was tempting the girl.
We are called to defend our religion no matter the consequences. John the baptist did this even though he probably knew it would get him killed in the end. Herod liked listening to John because he knew he was a holy man. Herod dreaded having to kill John because of this but he did it because he would seem insincere of his promise. Herodias knew this and took advantage of Herod’s promise and got John the baptist killed.
What i got from today’s Gospel is that we need to do what is right no matter the consequences. Jesus died on the cross for us so that right there should be enough for us to do what is right all the time. We need to stop caring what others think and start doing what we believe in.
what suprises me is that king Herod did not kill John the baptist a lot earlier, john the baptist called out his faults in front of everyone
but when a girl dances for him he offers half the kingdom but she asks her mother she hates john so much she asks for his head instead of the kingdom.
I think it wasn’t the girl’s fault because I think because the girl trust her mother and doesn’t know any better. I think God is trying to tell me to trust God because he knows everything and to not be led to sin.
That not all of our wants are okay even though you get the chance to do so.
The gospel told me that Herod even though he did not want to have John the Baptist killed he did to please the crowd. We have to remember what’s popular is not always right.
Something that stood out to me was that Jesus told him to preach to other about the word of God.
Something that stood out to me was that Jesus told him to preach to others about the word of God.
I think that this teaches us to not fall to peer pressure and to be careful about what we offer unlike Herod who was taken advantage of by Herodias
I think what God is trying to tell us here in the Gospel is that temptation and peer-pressure can lead us into sin and bad things. Herod sort of represents us, the people, John represents the good thing to do, Herodias represents our peers, and the daughter of Herodias represents temptation. When Herodias tells her daughter for John’s head, now Herod is tempted to cut John’s head off because he didn’t want to break his word. This sort of tells us that when our peers tempt us to do the bad thing, we should just ignore them and do the right thing, even if it’s the hard way out.
Today’s gospel talks about how we shouldn’t hold grudges on people and He tells us that there are many benefits to following Christ.
It stuck out to me when the Gospel said that king herod did nit want to cut off johns head, but he wanted to keep his promise to her.
If someone tells you to do things you probably shouldn’t do and you know that that is wrong you shouldn’t do it remember that God is there telling you to turn to him and do what is right since you know that that is the right thing to do.
In the gospel today I learned that we are called to defend our religion no matter what. John the Baptist did this although he knew it would get him sent to prison or even lead to death. I found that we all should be more like John the baptist and stand up for who we are in God. God created us in his image to worship him. Jesus said that he will love us til the end of time and no matter what we do he will always love us.
In today’s gospel i think God is trying to tell me we need to be kind like how John the Baptist was when he was on earth, and that we shouldn’t be tempted to do what is wrong just to impress someone. The king took John the Baptists life just because he didn’t want to break his word to the girl and his guests and its just so selfish and wrong and we shouldn’t be selfish like him. Except we should be like the disciples, always caring for their friends and doing great deeds for the people you love.
what I think God is trying to tell me is that I should try hard every day to try and to be closer to God.
Herod wanted to kill John. He couldn’t because he knew it would cause a bad reputation. He made a promise to his daughter and killed John.
In today´s Gospel, God is trying to tell us to stand up for ourselves and to do what is the right thing . And also not be tempted like the mom was trying to tempt the girl.
John the Baptist still defended our religion. Just like how we should even if we don’t feel it, we still need too.
I think God is telling me that I should always love him and Herod he did something bad by cutting John the baptist because his daughter wanted the head of John the Baptist and so he did Herod cut John’s head and Herod was very distressted but you should always love and adore God always no matter what!!!!
I think God is telling us that Jesus teaches us as the most powerful Lord God that in power of position we should be humble a servant.
Jesus came to our world to teach us that the most powerful people should be the most humble people. King Herod felt threatened by John the baptist so he used his power to get rid of him.
People that are powerful should be humble.
God sent Jesus down to earth to teach us and save us from .
The world does not revolve around ourselves.
we should be in service for others and care for people more often.
