“THE HARVEST IS ABUNDANT BUT THE LABORERS ARE FEW; SO ASK THE MASTER OF THE HARVEST TO SEND OUT LABORERS FOR HIS HARVEST.” LK 10:1-9
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Prayer Prompt before reading LK 10:1-9: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.
Today, I would like to take time to recognize all of those wonderful people God called to be priests or religious and answered the call. I also would like to take time to recognize our seminarians and those who are discerning to be religious (especially Mary Jo Peter, my first student to be discerning religious life; Marian Sisters of the Diocese of Lincoln and my niece and Goddaughter Celia Goertz, discerning with the Filiae Laboris Mariae Sisters).
I am thankful that I have someone who has given their life up totally and completely for Christ and the salvation of souls. It must be an amazing vocation with many difficulties and joys. I am thankful that I get to receive the Eucharist through the miracle on the altar that Jesus performs through a priest. I am thankful that I have priests I can go to talk to Jesus heart to heart and be reconciled with God when I fall.
I am thankful that a priest baptized me and I have God’s grace to fight Satan and grow in holiness to become a saint. I am thankful that I was confirmed by the bishop and sealed in the Spirit so that I may be a soldier for Christ and set on my mission in this short earthly life. I am thankful for the priests that laid my family members down to rest and gave them a proper burial.
I am thankful that there are IHM sisters who are always praying for the conversion of sinners and the sanctification of priests, praying for me and our diocese, teaching Jesus Christ in a profound way to our children. I am thankful for the sisters of St. Joseph in Wichita who are teaching and helping in our community. “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” Thank you God for sending us such great laborers for the harvest. We are grateful.
Today’s challenge: Thank a priest or religious for all that they do.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
