Prayer Prompt before reading LK 7:11-17: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“DO NOT WEEP.” LK 7:11-17

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Today, Jesus continues a long series of miracles in His ministry.  Today’s miracle is raising the son of a widowed mother back to life with His words.  Jesus shows us He is God because He has power over death. Miracles have their place but are not the only reason we should believe that Jesus is God.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church says,

“548 The signs worked by Jesus attest that the Father has sent him. They invite belief in him.269 To those who turn to him in faith, he grants what they ask.270 So miracles strengthen faith in the One who does his Father’s works; they bear witness that he is the Son of God.

271 But his miracles can also be occasions for “offense”;272 they are not intended to satisfy people’s curiosity or desire for magic. Despite his evident miracles some people reject Jesus; he is even accused of acting by the power of demons.273

549 By freeing some individuals from the earthly evils of hunger, injustice, illness, and death,274 Jesus performed messianic signs. Nevertheless he did not come to abolish all evils here below,275 but to free men from the gravest slavery, sin, which thwarts them in their vocation as God’s sons and causes all forms of human bondage.”

Jesus is proclaiming the Kingdom of God.  Prophecies that the Messiah would raise from the dead is what He is fulfilling, but ultimately as the Gospel unfolds throughout the year we will come to His Passion, Death, and Resurrection.  Jesus will give His life up for all humanity freeing us from the bondage of sin.

He is the bridge back to the Father after the Fall of Adam and Eve. He married humanity and divinity. For this we worship, adore, and praise Him and strive to develop a personal relationship with Him!

Today’s challenge: What does Jesus need to do for you to believe in Him?  He asks that you have faith and trust in Him.  He desires friendship. He made the ultimate sacrifice, to give up Himself for others.  Follow in His footsteps if you want to enter into the Kingdom. Everyone is invited into the Kingdom, it is what we were made for.

Be a servant, be a saint today!
