Prayer Prompt before reading MK 6:7-13: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and who God the Son is so that I may know who I am.

“SO THEY WENT OFF AND PREACHED REPENTANCE.”MK 6:7-13

Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Jesus gave authority to the Apostles over unclean spirits and authority to cure the sick by anointing them with oil. Jesus’ authority did not stop with the 12 Apostles, but from Peter was passed on to Linus and down to Pope Leo XIV. This authority was passed down to bishops and priests who are still preaching repentance, casting out demons, and curing the sick.

This proves to us that Jesus has the authority to pass on His powers to specific people He gives the power to. The pope, bishops, and ordained priests all have been given authority by Christ to forgive sins, through Jesus’s words they consecrate the Eucharist, anoint the sick and give them last rites, to Baptize in the name of the Trinity, to seal the Holy Spirit in us, to witness a couple making wedding vows.

God the Father set up the priesthood in the tribe of the Levites in the Old Testament, then Jesus instituted the first priesthood at the Last Supper, and continues to call priests to be ordained today and works through them to heal, cure, and cast out demons.

Don’t believe me? Fr. Ben Green gave absolution to my son, Nathan, and many other 2nd graders for first reconciliation. In the Year of Fr. Kapaun, we took time to reflect on his intercession from heaven to heal Chase Kear who should have died after a pole vaulting accident, Avery Gerlemen from a blood disease that was eating her alive from the inside, and Nick Dellesega who was without a pulse for 9 and half minutes but lived.

We don’t hear these things on the nightly news very often. Go to a hospital where people witness miracles all of the time. Go to Mass, there is a miracle going on right in front of your eyes. Visit a nursing home or the chaplain of a prison. God’s grace, love, and authority are the most powerful things in the world. The sick are cured, demons are cast out, and reconciliation is taking place right now all over the world.

Take time to fill your mind with good and holy things each day, allow Jesus’ teachings to transform you and change your perspective to ‘what is’, reality, or Truth. This conversion takes place slowly or sometimes all at once. It requires faith and an open heart and mind, total surrender and trust (fiat). Jesus is sending you and I out today two by two, after being formed by Him, to change the world by being who He created us to be.

Today’s challenge: Read about Fr. Kapaun’s story at http://catholicdioceseofwichita.org/father-kapaun or find a book on Fr. Kapaun and read it. Put good and holy people and things around you. Humble yourself and recognize we need God, if you seek Him out you will not be disappointed. All of us are called to be saints, with a specific role for our journey. Ask Jesus what your role is in this life then take nothing with you but your walking stick and be amazed at what Christ will do through you!

Be a servant, become a saint!

The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.
This part shows that with Jesus’s power/ permition the twelve can go and preach, cure people. drive out demons, and many other things. Jesus can do many miraculous things, that the human brain cannot comprehend. Jesus is powerful and all knowing no one is greater than him.

“SO THEY WENT OFF AND PREACHED REPENTANCE.”MK 6:7-13. This stood out to me because Jesus is saying that the apostles went with Jesus and they preached repentance to the people. Another reason why this stood out to me because when we go to confession Jesus is preaching repentance to use.

I love so much how the Apostles had no fear when they spread God’s word because that is how I want to live. We should all be like the Apostles and listen to Jesus when He tells us to be missionaries because that is how we will get into heaven and get everyone into heaven

Jesus sent his apostles on their first missionary journey, telling them to spread the word of the gospel and to cast out the demons from places to heal the sick. By instructing them to travel with almost nothing and depend on hospitality and kindness Jesus teaches reliance on God’s providence rather than material goods because nothing is better than him.

The Twelve listened to Jesus and followed his word! Just like we are supposed to. Jesus wants us to fulfill His word and Preach the Word of God to people who don’t know! That’s the reason we are on the Earth and He put us here to fulfill his Word and Preach about Him!

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells the Twelve to go and heal unclean spirits. Jesus empowers them to battle evil and heal, focusing on bringing the Kingdom of God to others, and showing what it means to be Catholic. Our mission in life is to be like the Twelve, who healed others, who helped others, and who tried to be like Christ. If a place does not welcome them, they are to “shake off the dust on their feet” as a testimony against them, indicating that they should not be discouraged by rejection or give up by lack of progress. We need to try to be more like Christ, and to help and love one another, so that we may get to Heaven.

This scripture reflection tells me about how there are many miracles we see every single day but don’t notice how amazing they are. The miracles we see every day at mass are truly something special that we should be proud we get to see. Medical miracles also happen often and we don’t even realize how even just the birth of a healthy child is a miracle!

What really stuck out to me is that if you are ever losing faith in God and have doubts, “Go to a hospital where people witness miracles all of the time. Go to Mass, there is a miracle going on right in front of your eyes. Visit a nursing home or the chaplain of a prison. God’s grace, love, and authority are the most powerful things in the world”. God is all around us, we just need to open our eyes and believe.

I think the phrase “This proves to us that Jesus has the authority to pass on His powers to specific people He gives the power to.” Is a great reminder that these people in the church that have power like “The pope, bishops, and ordained priests.” And not just power through there role in the church but power given to them by God. He gives them the power too have him speak through them, forgive through him, and bless the bread and turn it into the body of Jesus Christ.

I think Jesus is saying that those who do not follow him, Jesus will not help with them knowing. That he won’t try to drive out any demons, he’s just gonna let them be because they didn’t ask for his help, they denied the help of the Twelve. Jesus and the Twelve were normal human beings. That is until Jesus made many miracles and the Twelve followed him because they loved him, they were inspired. Just as we should be. We may not be able to drive out demons and we may not be able to heal and bless people, but that shouldn’t stop us from loving God through all he is and all he will be. We should be like the Twelve, love Jesus through all our struggles and hardships in life.

Jesus says that it is easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle than a rich man into the kingdom of Heaven. Its not impossible for a rich man to enter just harder. In todays gospel Jesus says only take what you need and nothing more. Nothing in this life that you want will be able to come to Heaven, the only thing you can bring is other people. When you walk into something dirty, you take a shower to clean yourself, same as when you sin you go to God for forgiveness. When you meet people who is not equally yoked with you clean yourself so you do not become like them. God calls us top be kind to everyone, he does not call us to sit there and watch others do wrong. Calling them out of their sin or watch them go down a path to hell.

Jesus forgives us and even though we disobey God, God will still have mercy and still love you and he will grant you authority to everything you need in this life to be happy. Jesus anoints the sick and cares for the people that need his help. He helps you everyday in your life and always is going to be by your side whenever you need him. He then told them that if they refuse to listen then leave, they refuse to believe in God and thats their fault. He will take care of us even if we don’t know he is with us. If we truley embraced the fact that God is with us then we will relize the little things he does to take care of us.

Today Jesus instructs his disciples to go out two by two with a specific set of instructions. He tells them to bring little and see who will welcome them, and help them share the Gospel. They will stay in their houses until they leave when they will find someone else to preach to and help them. They are able to perform miracles and divinely things because Jesus works through them. This is a part of Jesus’ ministry where he covers ground and evangelizes Gentiles and Jews alike. He came into the world to not stay with his righteous group, but to convert the unrighteous.

We are supposed to use the gifts that God has given us because you never know if someone needs to hear, or see your gift no matter what it is. And that God gave you that gift just like Jesus gave the disciples the authority to heal others.

They were granted the ability to heal and they just knew how to do so by the power of God speaking the way to heal into them.

Today Jesus showed me this is where some of it began. In a way you can see the twelve as Priests and that is what they essentially are. It is amazing how this event still happens today, and this happened 2000 years ago. We have to see that our Priests are trying to be very much like the men in the scripture today. This proves that healing of the sick is true because it actually came from our savior himself i find that cool.

The message I got from today’s gospel was to be always trying to spread his word. When Jesus sent out the disciples, he told them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick. I see this as God telling us to trust in him that he will give us what we need and take care of us.

Today it tells us how Jesus is in authority. He has the authority to free us and save us. God will always provide for us and keep us satisfied. He will cure us of all bad things and keep us safe and healthy.

something that got sutck with me when i read this is that let the converision convert you slowly or all at once. the reason i say this is cause sometimes it takes someone a week to be converted and undertstadn sometimes its longer. God speaks to us at our pace and the pace we will understand and so we can be with us

In today’s Gospel, the 12 Apostles were given Jesus’s power to drive out demons, preach repentance, and heal and cure the sick. The apostles gave up a lot to follow Jesus, and look where it led them. To go to many places outside of Jerusalem to preach God’s plan for our salvation. If we want to follow Jesus, we must let go of everything that is in our way, including the ones that make us happy, like our phones. Now, that doesn’t mean that God doesn’t want you to enjoy life and live a hardcore Christian, miserable life. But, you must not let those things control you, or take up so much of your time that you don’t have time for God. Start by cutting off screen time or things that distract you from God, and eventually you’ll feel closer and closer to God, and more happier and full.

I think to day in the Gospel God is telling me how to live in poverty and to listen to his words, for he can do anything through me. The twelve apostles followed Jesus’s instructions, and they cured many sick people and drove out many demons. Imagine the amazing things that could happen if we all follow God’s word!

Jesus created us in His divine image. We are who we are supposed to be. God had a plan for us long before we were even conceived or even thought. God knows us all by name. All he asks of us is a hour of our week on the Sabbath.

What stood out to me was that God told them to not bring anything. They trusted God and thrived. Everyone has to fully trust God.

“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
    in testimony against them.”

This verse in the scripture really stuck out to me today. Jesus shows us a way of living that glorifys him but at the same time is a humble way of living. We shouldn’t get mad when someone does not welcome us or agree with us. Instead we should see what God has given us instead of what he hasn’t. All in all I think this verse especially shows us an ideal way of living.

Jesus is so Powerful that he can give people authority over unclean spirits. This is because his name strikes fear into the hearts of demons, so when you cast out a demon in Jesus’ name, they run and hide.

In two days Jesus tells the Twelve to go and heal unclean spirits. Jesus empowers them to battle evil and heal focusing on bringing the King to God to others, and showing what it means to be Catholic. Our mission in life is to be like the Twelve, who healed others, who helped others and who tried to be like Christ. If a place does not welcome them, they are to “shake off the dust on their feet” as a testimony against them, indicating that they should not be discouraged by rejection or give up by lack of progress. We need to try to be more like Christ, and to help and love one another, so that we may get to Heaven

I think the Gosple is trying to tell me today that the Apostles were given the power to heal because Jesus gave them that power. Than it was passed down but Jesus showed the Apostles than to bishops than to priest it was passed down.

We need to listen to God. As it said in the gospel, “Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you, leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” We need to listen and welcome God into our house like he’s our best friend. God casts out demons and gives the twelve the ability to cast out demons and help the sick. So never ignore God always let him inside and listen in silence, because God can do all things.

what I got from todays gospel was that Jesus calls each and every young man to be priests. He is no longer physically here on earthworm with us so he must call others to do his work for him in persona christi capitas. There are miracles being performed all over the world and sometimes they aren’t even acknowledged, these powers all come from Jesus. No man, no woman, no being could ever do these things without God. Since he Is so loving and kind he gives us mercy through a priest, when you become a priest you are no longer just a man on this earth you help others see the wonderful miracles Christ is willing to give to them, through you.

What I took from today’s gospel is that you should always try to do the right things. When you know that your doing something wrong don’t do it. I also took that you should preach the word of God.

The part of this Gospel that stuck out to me was when it says, “Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet in testimony against them.” This means to me that if you are ever not excepted by someone you should not go around everywhere being mopey and sad or complaining about it, you should just except their opinion and go along your way so that you may meet someone who will be willing to welcome you.

I believe that in today’s gospel that Jesus is telling us that we must be humble like the apostles. they gave up practically everything to follow Jesus but they are in the presence of the son of God and that is enough for them. I think we need to be more like the apostles in this way. not wanting trivial things that only bring us happiness for a short time we should instead want God who will love us and bring us happiness in him forever.

what stood out to me was “the twelve drove out many demons.” I think this stood out to because its saying that god has authorities over everything, no matter who does it, making it so that even a priest would have authority over demon in persona Christi, and that Jesus doesn’t have to be fully present to make things happen.

“John the Baptist has been raised from the dead” this shows that Jesus really did gave miracles and raising someone from the dead is not possible. Jesse has so much power and he uses for good to make sure we get to heaven.

i got from this gospel that so many miracles go on around us but sometimes we are too caught up in our own activities that we cant even realize the greatness happening around us. we need to open our eyes to God so we can take note of his greatness.

The Apostles put such a trust in God. They had nothing and still put everything in God. The trust follow and love him, in return God protects and provided for them. We should put that kind of trust into God

In the Gospel, Jesus sends his disciples out to the world, with instructions to preach, heal, and rely on God for help. I think that the Gospel was trying to tell us that we need to rely on God instead of worldly possessions for help. We need to have humility, faith, and trust, just like Jesus shows us every day.
