“AGAIN, THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE A MERCHANT SEARCHING FOR FINE PEARLS.” MT 13:44-46

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Prayer Prompt before reading MT 13:44-46: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so I may know the Truth about who God the Father and Son are, so that I may know who I am.

Why is heaven worth giving up everything for? What does heaven have to offer me? Why do people seek heaven? Jesus says heaven is worth giving up everything for. Why? If this is our ultimate goal, why do we know so little about it. Maybe God wants us to trust Him and have faith in Him.

Peter Kreeft says, “Heaven’s joy is so great that the worst life on earth looks nothing more than a cough due cold.” Most importantly it is where God dwells. Their is no pain and suffering. Our wills are perfectly in tune with the One who created us and this makes us perfectly full of joy perfectly knowing and loving ourselves. The music is so good we would faint if we heard it on earth.

God is so Almighty we would disintegrate if we saw Him on earth. Most importantly, we no longer are fighting our inner battles, we are just at peace eternally. Our relationships are no longer a struggle but full of joy. We do not have to work for food, shelter, or clothing. We know everyone and everything perfectly and the mysteries of God are revealed to us. All challenges are met, all who we miss we will get to be with, all that we desire and search for each day is fulfilled (if we have learned to do God’s will and not our own).

Why would Jesus say heaven is like a great pearl or finding a buried treasure if it is not. He cannot lie. We must remember where we come from and where we are going. This peace can be enjoyed here on earth, too.

We are called after the Fall to be baptized, reject Satan/sin, receive God’s grace in the sacraments and through good deeds, pray without ceasing, offer up indulgences for sins that have been forgiven by a priest by doing devotions recognized by the Church, offer up all suffering with Christ’s to be purified/carry your daily crosses. We can sustain and continue to fight for our faith being fueled by the saints and reading spiritual books, then be at peace with God and experience His joy, heaven on earth.

We find the pearl and the buried treasure when we surrender our life and allow Christ to be the very center, when we recognize we are a sinner, and when we realize our life is not about us.

Today’s challenge: Find a book about heaven and read it. Peter Kreeft has two. Set your sights on heaven and ask Jesus to help you get there. It is worth selling all that you have! Ask St. Francis!

Be a servant, be a saint today!
