“LET THE DEAD BURY THEIR DEAD. BUT YOU, GO AND PROCLAIM THE KINGDOM OF GOD.” LK 9:51-62

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Prayer Prompt before reading LK 9:51-62: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.

Today, Jesus teaches us an important lesson about the radically high importance of choosing the Kingdom of God that we are called to strive for with His grace. Jesus speaks words that make a common person like me wonder if He is crazy. What I have experienced is Jesus is crazy, crazy in love with each and every one of us.

Today, Jesus is resolute on going to Jerusalem where His Passion, Death, Resurrection and Ascension, His final destination on earth, His mission and purpose, will culminate. His message is simple but not easy to follow. The Kingdom of God is more important than saying good bye or even burying those who are closest to you, your family.

The point, to be holy, God must be the center of your life. Once we have accepted God as the center of our lives, He will rightly order our lives and this leads to holiness or happiness. The Kingdom of God is not some far away destination, it lies in our hearts.

Today’s challenge: Take some time daily to sit in silence and listen to Jesus teach you about the Kingdom of God in your life. Then, go forth and tell the whole world (for most of us our families, people in our parishes, those we work with, or in our community) this great news!

Be a servant, be a saint today!
