Prayer Prompt before reading LK 19:45-48 Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.
“MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER!” LK 19:45-48
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Jesus enters the holy city of Jerusalem today where Passover celebrations will take place. He will change the Passover to the first Mass on Holy Thursday with His Apostles. First, He must cleanse the temple and challenge the religious authority who has made His Father’s House a “den of thieves”.
The Jews are getting kickbacks from the sellers in the Temple (much of what is being sold is from the poor and it is to buy lambs that are being sacrificed to atone for sins). When Jesus pushes everyone out He really upsets the chief priests and scribes. They plot to kill Him.
How reverently do we enter God’s house, the Church? Jesus stays hidden behind a piece of bread and in the wine so we can approach Him in the Church. It is important to read and reflect on the readings before the Mass. As you enter the Church, take time to bless yourself with the Holy Water and remember your baptism (your venial sins are washed away).
This water is different than other waters. Your sin is washed away and the gates of heaven are open for your soul because Jesus died on the cross and resurrected. Take time to genuflect properly on your right knee recognizing Jesus is in the tabernacle. This is a sign of reverence, take it serious. Kneel before the God that created you and your Savior, praying in silence to prepare yourself for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Ask God for forgiveness and mercy in the Introductory Rite to prepare your soul to receive Jesus in the Word and in the Eucharist. Pay attention to the readings which you have read and reflected on before Mass. What is Jesus trying to tell you? His Word has transforming power!
If a priest would have not suggested this to me, I would have never started writing this blog. Next, go through the 5 sorrowful mysteries from the time the gifts are taken up to the consecration. Use your imagination. God is bringing all of us back to the foot of the cross at the altar.
After the words of consecration, you can say the words of St. Thomas the Apostle when Jesus returns after the Resurrection. Thomas doubted that Jesus had resurrected so Thomas said he had to put his fingers in Jesus’ hands and his fist in Christ’s side. Jesus appears and Thomas puts his fingers in Christ’s hands and fist in His side. He then says the words, “My Lord, and My God”.
I say these words at the consecration then I bow my head and tell Jesus I believe He is truly present. It reminds me He is physically present, Thomas touched the physical glorified body of Jesus. I also thank God for allowing me to be in His presence. What a gift!
Next, St. John Bosco recommends we think of our sins during the Eucharistic Prayer. We receive Jesus and our venial sins are forgiven, we have the grace to fight mortal sin stronger, we are unified with Christ and the believers all over the world, and Jesus increases our anticipation for the Kingdom of heaven.
Last, we should think of resolutions to the sin we struggle with and have offered up during Mass. We should also praise and thank God for all He has given us and offer it up with the gifts on the altar.
Last, Jesus gave us right worship. Mass isn’t boring, Jesus is dying on the cross and offering up all of our prayers, works, joys, and sufferings through Him to the Father. God doesn’t need us. He is complete in Himself. The Sacrifice of the Son to the Father is continually happening until His return so that we can stay connected to Him.
This everlasting covenant required God’s blood. Ponder that every Mass! He is not a slot machine that gives us whatever we want. He is love straight through (Bishop Barron). He is waiting in every tabernacle in the world for us to come to Him, so He can give us this love and forgiveness. Then, we are called to go forth and do something with these wonderful graces and gifts we have received. Love is meant to be shared, it’s what made us!
Today’s challenge: Next time you go to Mass, try to remember where you are at and be reverent, you are in the house of God! How unworthy are we to enter but He allows us to and receive His Son in Word and Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity! Give us this day our daily bread!
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YODO (You Only Die Once; we will live again!)
Jesus Cries for Jerusalem because he knows they would choose not to repent. As a result Jerusalem will have to be invaded and destroyed. Jesus would rather them repent than be destroyed but they chose not to and because of this Jesus is sad. Let us not be like Jerusalem and repent and reconcile yourself with God.
“How unworthy are we to enter but He allows us to and receive His Son in Word and Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.” And: “He is waiting in every tabernacle in the world for us to come to Him, so He can give us this love and forgiveness. Then, we are called to go forth and do something with these wonderful graces and gifts we have received. Love is meant to be shared, it’s what made us!” These stood out to me because even though I had learned this a while ago I had never really applied this in my life, but this year I have tried and it has made me a better person and stronger in my faith.
God is good! Good for you Beckett! I am proud of you.
Today the Gospel was telling me that if you don’t recognize that God is there waiting for you then God will be sad. God is always waiting for us especially in Heaven. He is always going to be waiting and keep leading us to do the right thing even when we don’t think so.
What really stuck out to me was ” Mass isn’t boring, Jesus is dying on the cross and offering up all of our prayers, works, joys, and sufferings through Him to the Father. God doesn’t need us. He is complete in Himself.” Often times I think we zone out during Mass and think about other things, or say it’s boring. But this scripture reminds us that’s not the case. God gave us a right to worship and that’s beautiful. Love is meant to be shared. Focusing on what Mass is really about and what’s actually happening is really important.
This is saying that we need to be prepared for when satin will tempt us because if we are not then it will hit us harder than we can handle.
Today in the Gospel, Jesus tells us that we need to stay with Him throughout our whole life. Our eyes have been closed the whole time. We need to open them to see the wonders of God. The Kingdom of Heaven is waiting for us. We just need to be ready. Jesus shows us His compassion and love for us in this Gospel. Jesus tells us that the path to true peace is hidden, and we need to find it. Going to Mass will unlock the path, saying your daily prayers, keeping God in your life! We need to open our eyes and our hearts to Jesus, for the Kingdom of God is at hand!
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace–
but now it is hidden from your eyes.
For the days are coming upon you”
This part stuck out to me because its saying we do not know when we will die and go to eternal life. We do not know if we will go to eternal life. Its also saying that only God knows when and if we are going to eternal life. We all wish for eternal life. Though we must act like we want to go to eternal life. Some people don’t act like it =, and when they die… i have no clue actually because only God knows where they are going. We do not know when we are going to die, whether we are going to eternal life or not. We can only trust that the Lord has a wonderful plan for us.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is crying at the sight of a city who will be destroyed not literally, but their faith is terrible. What we should do is to invest in the kingdom of God and realize that about eighty years of fun is totally not worth eternity in hell. We need to know that Jesus is our only hope so we have to lock in and start praying to God because it will all be worth it in the end. Just think, maybe once you’re in heaven, you might look back on your life and say “Hey, I guess it was all worth it.” Because it will definitely be worth it.
Today’s gospel reminds me of when Jesus says to us ” If the world hates you remember they hated me first.” This verse always reminds me of how no matter what you do people will hate you for it, but this same world killed a perfect man. There will be a day when everyone rises against you but Jesus is always for you. “For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you.”
“MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER!” LK 19:45-48. This stood out to me because Jesus is saying that his house will be a house of prayer. Another reason why this stood out to me is because Jesus is saying that his house will not be a house of relaxing, or any other types of things that we like to do, but it will be a house of prayer
I think ¨Take time to genuflect properly on your right knee recognizing Jesus is in the tabernacle.¨ is hint towards a bigger problem. Over time we get more used to doing stuff at church like kneeling or the sign of the cross. This makes us take it less seriously and makes our movements more sloppy over time. I think it is important from when we walk in to walk out of the church for us to be in a specific midset ready to be apart of the hoiy ceremony of mass.
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace–
but now it is hidden from your eyes.”
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that what is there is covered like a veil because we have sin that is making us blind. It tells that we need to find who we truly are so we can know it was God who saved us and not “magic” because God loves us and he believes in us and He is there and will never leave your side because He loves YOU so much that we don’t need to think about our appearances because you shouldn’t need to look nice for others. You shouldn’t have to look nice to God because he doesn’t care WHAT you look like, He will always love you!
I think what this means is that the image of God is hidden from their eyes and that´s what’s happening to us we are starting to not care about Jesus and we are forgetting to pray and we are just being so blind that Jesus is right in front of us and i think he just wants us to care more and stop giving all your attention to electronics an give all the attention to God and start praying more because he loves that and we cant give that up.
It was telling me to be more reverent to God and when I kneel, kneel in a reverent way that makes God my only attention!
In today’s Scripture it is talking about how Jesus is entering the Holy Town of Jerusalem where the Passover will take place. Jesus said to himself I must cleanse the temple because the authority has made it to the house of den of theives. He will turn over the Passover to Holy Thursday. We enter the church and end up not focusing in mass and we don’t sometimes reilize that God is hidden in Bread and Wine. The holy body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God. The water is different and your sin is washed away and the gates of heaven are open unto you. They are open to your soul to enter the Kingdom of God because he died and resurrected from the dead for you and your sin. You are saved without blemish, ask God for mercy and forgiveness and let your mind, soul and heart be ready to receive Jesus in holy mass and holy Communion. Jesus is truly and physically present with you all the time in church, school, work anywhere you can think of. Thank Jesus that he allows you to be in his presence every single day of your life. When you receive holy Communion your Venial sins are forgiven and you are able to fight the mortal sins by going to confession. You have received so much from God and thank him for everything he has given you. Have a good rest of your day!!! God loves you!!! God Bless!!!!
In Today’s Gospel Jesus is deeply saddened because we do not see the visitation at hand
Jesus had pity for Jerusalem and says For it will be destroyed. This means the city will be destroyed spiritually by sin.
In today’s scripture reflection it reminds me to be reverent when entering the Church because Jesus is really in the Tabernacle. We need to be reverent in the Church because that is where we go to see Jesus and the best part of our week. We need to remember why Jesus died for us and to always go back to the Church.
For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you. To me this means your enemies will come to get you. When my enemies come i will be kinder to them and they will be blown away with kindness.
Jesus is saying that they know not what they see and are blinded. We need to listen to God and what his plan is for us.
Today Jesus is telling us to be ready for others to hurt you via your faith and to stand against it and to fight it. Don´t let it go, fight against it stand up for your chatholic faith and be ready for people to hurt you, the image of God is hidden and we need to await it in heaven and if we let others get to us like that well never get there. God Bless.
In today’s Gospel I think that it was telling me to be more reverent and pay more attention in Mass because during Mass it is really easy to get off task and get distracted by other things and I also think that whenever we are doing gestures like the sign of the cross and genuflecting we dont take it seriously. “If this day you only knew what makes for peace–
but now it is hidden from your eyes.”
Jesus is telling us to keep praying and don’t fall into temptation because the devil is trying to lead us down to hell. He wants us to be faithful and reverent when the time comes.
Today’s gospel reminds me of this. I also thank God for allowing me to be in His presence. Thank Jesus for his sacrifice. And pray to Jesus every day.And to be more reverent to God.And to believe Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. He gave his life up for us.
Jesus is telling us that because some aren’t following him we will be persecuted. But Jesus loves us and will protect us we just have to follow him and be faithful. God will always love and forgive us.
Today’s Gospel is another confusing one that is not straightforward. He talks about how they will be destroyed. I think he speaks this way to make people aware of what is happening. People are wanting to ignore what is going on but they must see reality for what it is.
in todays scripture i learn how reverntly we walk into gods house and how we forget that he is right there in front of our face he is shing like the sun.HE IS THE SUN the SON OF GOD.
Today’s gospel is about Jesus entering Jerusalem and him crying and him saying “If this day you only knew what makes for peace– but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you;” he is taking about us being blind to what is really going on.
Jesus he was saying how the people did not understand the meaning of peace he said that they were being so sinful. that he cried. he was telling them how their enemies will surround them and smash them to the ground.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is talking about how our enemies will be against us. We have to be able to still love them so we can enter heaven, and be with Jesus.
If Jesus can say that and follow His promise I can do a little thing like doing the dishes when I’m not told to.
Today’s gospel is telling me if you want success in life you have to follow God.
When Jesus said,“If this day you only knew what makes for peace but now it is hidden from your eyes.” was very insightful to what Jesus was thinking.
This is the Gospel when Jesus goes onto the temple and sees them selling thing. He gets upset since this is His Fathers house and a very holy place. He flips over a table and calls the place ” a den of thieves”. This just shows us how much we should respect Gods house.
“MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER!” stuck out to me because we need to keep the Lord the most holy thing.
Even if its not popular, even if everyone doesn’t follow God, you still need to follow and love God your whole life. He will be at your side forever.
what i thought jesus is wanting me to follow him. and trust in people and help
“My house shall be the house of prayer!” stuck out to me because we need to keep the Lord the most holy thing.
How I see this Gospel is for God is among us but we chose to ignore and turn away. We are blinded and we tend to forget about His love and mercy. He watches over us and keep us safe but we forget and are lazy.
Sacred spaces such as the Church having people who aren’t keeping its reverence aren’t new. It’s been happening even when Jesus was walking on the earth. i remember one mass where one of the song numbers was 676 and when we got to that song, people even some of the adults were looking at each other because of “67”. Mr. Lang pointed out that we need to keep the reverence of the Church. Jesus is present with us in the Tabernacle. That’s why its so important to keep the reverence of the Church.
This stuck out to me “My house shall be the house of prayer!” stuck out to me because we need to keep the Lord the most holy thing.
The water washes sins from our soul and reconnects us to Gods grace so we can go to heaven because Jesus a perfect man who sacrificed himself on the cross for our salvation.
I’m not sure what the Gospel is trying to say but I do know that we have to love God as He has loved us.
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace–
but now it is hidden from your eyes.” In today’s Gospel, I feel like this line is trying to say that every person will want peace in their life. But this world is so crazy we will never be able to actually get the peace that we all want.
what i think the lord is trying to tell me is that when we get lost he will also lead us it might take a while but in the end he will always led us into his kingdom that he reserved for us.
“MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER!” What this means to me is that in order to get to heaven we must pray to God because that is Gods house. We also need to always be respectful in the Church because the church is only for prayer and nothing else.
“Mass isn’t boring, Jesus is dying on the cross and offering up all of our prayers, works, joys, and sufferings through Him to the Father. God doesn’t need us. He is complete in Himself. ” When it says this we just think Mass is boring but it is not, we need to focus because then if we really focus its not boring at all. He doesn’t need us, we need Him because we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Him. So give Him all of your love because He deserves it all.
Today the gospel is telling me that you have to recognize Jesus through the Eucharist. We cant see him but we are receiving him. We have to understand that, it is the Eucharist. We cant just go through the motions or we are not getting anything out of it.
“As Jesus drew near Jerusalem, he saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace– but now it is hidden from your eyes.” I think that Jesus was trying to say that the people of Jerusalem were not taking God very seriously and they were not worshiping and praying to him. But loving and being faithful to God is more than just worshiping him, its taking time in your life to realize that you’re a part of something much bigger than your house, your family, the whole Earth.
Jesus is telling the people and the pharisees that the day is coming that he will come down upon them and everyone will be judged. He tells us that we must be ready because God will find us and look into our souls and separate the good and the bad. We must always be prepared because we will never known the day when God is ready to come to this earth.
Today in the gospel something that stuck out to me was “For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you;” even though we have enemies that strongly dislike us that doesent mean that we have to or they have to build a a strong wooden fence so we so not have to talk to them we have to love everyone like Jesus loves us.
in today’s gospel I think Jesus is saying to pay attention at mass and look around and just ignore the fact that he is present with us.
“Jesus gave us right worship.” We are given the choice to follow and pray to God. When Jesus died on the cross that right was given to us. We are’nt required to worship, when we do we get closer to Jesus and closer to heaven.
I think what God is trying to tell me is that there may be pain and suffering on earth but in heaven we will be eternally happy. Its hard to stay positive when things don’t go as planned or someone hurts you but God is always present. God is and will always be there loving you until the end of time. Don’t worry about other things but instead be thankful for what you have. And remember God will always be there for you.
In today’s Scripture, I think God is trying to tell me that we need value his presence and grace. He wants us to truly look for him in the mass and want him. We must have a true desire to want him and love him. So we need to seek him out in the mass which is when we need to look for him the most in life. We must value his presence in the mass and all the grace he has given us.
” Take time to genuflect properly on your right knee recognizing Jesus is in the tabernacle. Our sin is washed away and the gates of heaven are open for your soul because Jesus died on the cross and resurrected. ”
this sentence was very important to me because if we don’t take time to recognize God he will be sad and he will be waiting up there for us to come back to him, and he will always be there for us and open to see us no matter what
“MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER!” LK 19:45-48. In today’s Gospel Jesus arrives at Jerusalem and wept over the city. He said that many of us are blind to see outr enemies and that they will make pallisides and surround us. I think this means that we need to buy trustworthy to the Lord.
Jesus is sad because the city of Jerusalem did not repent and asked for forgiveness. Each day we should recognize what were doing wrong in some ways and ask God for forgiveness and stop commiting the sins we are doing.
Unlike the chiefs, we should love even if someone ruins something we made. We should learn why they destroyed it, and fix that problem. That how people become better, getting closer and closer to God, step by step.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus expresses His love for the city of Jerusalem. He says that the city will fall because they didn’t recognize the time of their visitation. He says they are starting to forget what peace is and they just want to fight.
In today’s Gospel God is telling us to always be ready for Him. If we do not recognize God’s coming then He will not recognize us.
What I think today’s Gospel is telling us is that we need to repent for our sins. I agree with this because sometimes I am scared to go to confession but we have been given the great gift of Confession and we should use it because it makes God joyful when we come closer to him and are reunited with him in that way.
“They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.” what I personally took from this is if you do not accept Jesus publicly or show in your actions that you are a Catholic/Christian, or if you don’t teach your children this faith, when it comes time for the world to end you aren’t gonna be on the side you want to be on, and you would be in hell/purgatory for an eternity
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace” I think Jesus is telling us that we should not be sad. Everything happens for a reason, and at the end of the day we are living for Jesus to try to get to heaven. Jesus will always love and be there for us no matter what happens.
Today what I think God is trying to tell me is that the day of prayer is now not tomorrow or next week it is today right in this very moment. What that means is that we have to let God be present in us at all times to show that we truly care about him we don’t want other things be more shown in us than God is we should be known as someone who is kind of caring not someone that is rude or gossips and spreads rumors. That is why we should always try to be like Jesus
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace but now it is hidden from your eyes.” this is what stuck out to me today. This is telling me that peace is hidden from our eyes because we don’t know how great Gods peace is for us.
Today’s Gospel tells us to listen to Jesus. He has a plan for us and we need to recognize it and act on it. He weeps for us because we aren’t doing this and we need to start. He loves us so much and we need to act accordingly to his plan to be able to spend a lifetime with him in Heaven
I was reading Mr. Goertz’s scripture reflection and I think it’s very important to take Mass seriously. Even the small things like genuflecting or using the Holy water when entering. These things that might be considered small are important and it shows respect for Jesus. It is His temple, and we should respect him and pay attention in Mass because He died for us and loves us so much. After all He does for us, the least we can do is talk to Him, and pray to Him.
Something that stuck with me when i read this is that how do we enter the church revently? the reason i think this was stuck on me was because a lot of people just come in and theu kinda have a bad attitude because they dont wanna be there, or they just had a bad day. this is not the way to enter into a church where God is literally at its his home and your like disrespecting it.a way i think we should enter is a calm and peaceful mind. just church is a place where your in Gods home and you can talk to him and kinda have your own thing and tell him how your day went its not a place where people nag you or where people annoiy you its litterally you and the peace adn quietness and aslo God.
I think today in the Gospel God is telling me that I need to notice where He is in my life because Satin will be able to destroy me if I don’t recognize God in my life and thank Him for everything.
In today’s gospel it talks about, that we need to be reverent to enter God’s will and presence. Jesus gives us the right to praise our Lord Jesus Christ and we must take that into consideration.
Today, Jesus weeps over the city of Jerusalem because they did not repent. We all make mistakes and it’s okay to – we are all humans made in God’s image. God sent his only Son Jesus to die for our sins, and from that the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Penance was formed. But, let us remember that the main idea about Christianity is that it is not a set of rules to follow or a person of authority to worship. Rather, it is a person – a living being (take a moment to think about that, a living person among all of us!) – who wants to become your friend. A relationship, bonding. How crazy is that? God, who could literally change reality with his words and could bring down fire on Earth, wants a relationship with us? He knows that we sin constantly and break his trust – so many times. Yet, He forgives. What a benevolent living being God is. It’s unfathomable to comprehend God’s love for us. God’s creations are everywhere, and he is inside the tabernacle some meters away. Let us take some time to thank God for what he has done and rejoice in him during this Thanksgiving.
“‘My house will be a house of prayer; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’” When Jesus lived every year they made a journey to the temple to make sacrifice. Some people would bring they’re own animal to sacrifice but others wouldn’t because it took time energy and money to transport an animal. Some people took advantage of this and began selling animals in the temple for people to buy for the sacrifice. Jesus saw how people were doing this and that’s why he was angered. it wouldn’t have been a problem if they had been selling outside of it
In today’s daily scripture I felt like God was trying to tell me that he is truly present in the mass. That he’s REALLY there and it’s not just a symbol. It’s hard to wrap my head around it. But I will truly try my best to truly believe he’s there even if it takes a lifetime.
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace–
but now it is hidden from your eyes. ” We need to open our eyes and see that we are enough. And that God is always with us no matter what. When we sin God still forgives.
What I took from today’s gospel is that even in hard times we need to try to find peace. It may be hard but we need to try.
The pharises and the other religous athuritys are abusing the sacrificing animals and taking the part of the money for them selves when Jesus dicovers that he drives them away and he is disapointed so at masss thank him for life and live good because someone diesd for you
and that someone is JESUS!!!
while reading the gospel and scripture reflection today the words that were put into my mind were that we must be more reverent. Jesus died on the cross for us and we repay him by zoning out in mass and not paying attention to the gospel while it is being read? this is what we must fix and we must truly be thinking about what is happening at mass and why we are there at all in the first place.
Jesus is saying that the Jews will be smashed to the ground because they did not recognize the day that their messiah came to them; “the time of your visitation.”.
What I thought this scripture meant was that we should always be prepared in our faith. Sometimes we fall away from our faith because we think we will always have time to repent, but that is not always the case. We always want to be faithful and prepared for whatever comes next.
what I got from this gospel was that in church Jesus really is present in every single thing, and you know what’s honestly mind blowing? the fact that every single piece used in church has a meaning, it has a purpose like us. people not so often realize that the church Is holy ground like in the story of Moses and the burning bush, I mean of course we don’t need to take off our shoes but we still need to show respect for the man who died for our sins. be reverent towards him and forget your sins Jesus doesn’t care about them, he just wants you.
We always need to notice and believe in God no matter what. He helps us get through rough times. We need to not take Mass for granite. We need to take Mass seriously and listen to God’s words through scripture.
In the Gospel God is telling us to pay more attention and think about what you’re doing during mass because many people just do it out of routine. Jesus is love strait though
I today reading it talk about how Jesus get mad and flipped the table. also talked about mass and finally fun but true how Jesus blood isn’t like a slot machine.
basically the importance of mass.
i think in todays Gosple Jesus is trying to tell me that he is with us at church we are in the precnce of God every time we walk into the church. We need to be respectful when we go to mass we need to pay attention and not just go to mass to go to mss we accaully need to be praying because Jesus is with us and he wants us to pray when we go to church. Than also I think we need to follow the 10 conmandments.
The part that stuck out to me was when Jesus says, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace–
but now it is hidden from your eyes.” This means to me that we have drawn away from the times of peace and have started to become violent. Sometimes though we can not control what happens or we do it without thinking because we have become sinful people.
We can’t be like the chiefs. We have to love everyone at all times.
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace– but now it is hidden from your eyes…” I feel he is saying to me that we get caught up with the big things in life, that we forget to find peace in the small things.
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace but now it is hidden from your eyes.” This stook out to me because it made me think about how the Jews maded the temple into a marketplace. They saw the Temple and they twisted it into a way to make money.
the verse that stood out to me was ” they will not leave one stone upon another within you.” when I was thinking about this, it made me realize that good could destroy the world and all the evil in it, but he doesn’t out of love. in the gospel Jesus is literally weeping for Jerusalem because he could see what was going to happen because of what they did.
“The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words.” This quote shows how much influence Jesus had over the people until the passion.
The message I got from today’s gospel was that I need to not take my faith for granted because there are some places where you cannot worship freely. I should really let God into my heart and be accountable for my actions.
This gospel is telling me to follow what he says and follow his footsteps.
