Prayer Prompt before reading MT 14:1-14: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“This man is John the Baptist. He has been raised from the dead; that is why mighty powers are at work in him.”MT 14:1-14

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

John the Baptist is a protomartyr, one of the first martyrs to die for Christ. John’s is unique because Jesus hasn’t died for him yet. John is the last great prophet who ushers Jesus into the world. What is the Father up to?

“A mighty power is at work in Him”. This mighty power, sacrificial love. God is love. God’s mighty power is given to us in this deep, unseen, fulfilling, peaceful, calm way. But, it challenges every human, culture, and religion. How do we attain it?

Surrender and trust, give our life away, so that this mighty power, this love, can transform us. Then, we are called to go forth on a mission to serve. John the Baptist is a great witness and model of God’s transforming love.

Today’s challenge: Find a book on a martyr. Find out how they were transfigured by God’s love and fell in love with Jesus. Open yourself up to this love.

Be a servant, be a saint today!
