Prayer Prompt before reading JN 16:12-15: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.
“I HAVE MUCH MORE TO TELL YOU, BUT YOU CANNOT BEAR IT NOW.” JN 16:12-15
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
The simplest way of learning about the Trinity that I have read is from Bishop Barron. He says the perfect reflection of God the Father who is pure Spirit is the Son. When God the Father and God the Son look at each other with perfect love, they sigh and this is the Holy Spirit.
The sign of the cross is our shortest prayer, but one of the most powerful. It can be offered up as a partial indulgence. We often go through the motions because we do it so often. We raise our hands to our heads to show God the Father created all, then we bring our hand down to our chest to represent God sending His only Son down to us to repair our relationship with the Father so we can return to Him, and then we move our hand from shoulder to shoulder to remind us that Jesus gave us the Advocate, God’s Spirit to join our Spirit, to allow God’s love to move among us and remind us of these truths and guide us.
We also make an “I” then cross it out when we make the sign of a cross. Jesus came to show us by His death on the cross that the Truth about love is that our lives are meant to be given away.
Take time to pray to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Thank God the Father for creating you and giving you a new day to live and blessing you with everything you need. God the Father creates and sustains all things, He can take you at any time. He is so personal though because He is so Almighty and powerful, yet He allows us to call Him Father (Pope Francis says Daddy) and He calls us son/daughter. Our Father desires intimacy and friendship!
If you reflect on that it is truly amazing. How humble is our God! He made us for relationships because He is a relationship of love, 3 Persons in 1 God. God knows you better than you know yourself and loves you more than you love yourself. He wants you to know His Will. He chases after you constantly and has given you a way to receive His Divine Life (grace). Allow Him to transform you into the person He created you to be and you will set the world on fire with love!
Thank Jesus Christ for dying and rising from the dead so we can have new life through Baptism. No Jesus no salvation. Jesus Christ suffered and continues to sacrifice for us today by staying hidden behind the bread and wine. Jesus Christ is obedient to the Father.
Jesus loves God the Father perfectly and His one desire is to bring your soul back to the Father, let Him. Empty yourself and allow Jesus to fill you up. Allow Jesus to transform you through the Eucharist, the other sacraments, prayer, and Scripture. Jesus died to become your best friend, talk and listen to Him every day.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. He is the Advocate, the one who will lead us closer to Christ with Mary and Joseph. At the beginning of each day, ask the Holy Spirit to join your Spirit while praying,
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love, send forth your Spirit and they shall be created and you shall renew the face of the earth…,
If we recognize this identity in the Trinity and ask God’s Spirit to join ours we will live each day drawing ourselves closer to Christ and being Christ for others. Our relationship with God will grow, our actions will be more like Christ’s as we are transformed, and we will start to recognize God’s Spirit everywhere we are and in people’s actions. This is the identity of every baptized Christian.
Last, the Holy Trinity gives us the perfect model for marriage. When a man and woman love each other more than themselves giving themselves up for the other, they bring forth new life mirroring the Trinity for us. We are made for relationship. We are never alone. Recognize your identity in the Trinity and allow the Trinity to bring you to your heavenly home.
Today’s challenge: Reflect on the Holy Trinity. Take time each day to speak to each person of the Trinity and recognize what they have done for you. Slow down and think about what you are doing when you say the sign of the cross. This sign baptized you, absolves your sins in the confessional, is traced on your forehead at Confirmation, and starts and ends every prayer including the greatest prayer, the Mass. It is the sign that many Christians gave their life up for and died on! It is powerful!
Be a servant, be a saint today!
