Prayer Prompt before reading MT 10:1-7: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“WHATEVER TOWN OR VILLAGE YOU ENTER, LOOK FOR A WORTHY PERSON IN IT, AND STAY THERE UNTIL YOU LEAVE.” MT 10:7-15

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Would you open your door to a complete stranger proclaiming, “The Kingdom of God is at hand”? Me either! Just imagine the whining the Apostles did at this request. Jesus’s message comes to us usually through a parent, grandparent, friend, priest, or religion teacher. Do we open the door of our minds and souls to this important message?

Jesus does not have many kind words to those who do not receive His message of salvation. Jesus, the God Man, comes to earth to reveal the Truth about humanities salvation. We have an important choice to make and the consequences are eternal.

Salvation continues to be at hand ever since Jesus died and rose from the dead. The Apostles received the power to cure, raise from the dead, cleanse those with disease, and drive out demons. This certainly raised some eyebrows. Priests are still doing these things today.

People today are still trying to disprove that Jesus performed miracles. These miracles often come with receiving Jesus into our hearts, but also have been given to specific people for their missionary purpose. Jesus’s promise is peace upon us if we accept His message.

We are very good at accepting all kinds of information from the Internet, at school, from our parents and friends, but the most important information we need is the Word of God. Jesus is the Word made Flesh. It has the power to change the way you think and live your life bringing joy and peace amidst suffering and sin.

It is welcoming news to anyone who accepts themselves as a sinner who needs God’s mercy. It is welcome news to those who admit they are broken and need help. But, it is great news for those who want to receive, receive, receive! God just loves and gives. He cannot be outdone in generosity!

We have a Father who knows us better than we know ourselves and chases after us every day. We are never alone! Christ grafted Himself onto us at Baptism and is always with us. The Kingdom of God is in our hearts (LK 17:21 “The Kingdom of God is within you.”)! God has given those who are baptized the first installment of their salvation, the Holy Spirit! Come, Holy Spirit! This is the salve or salvation needed for a suffering and sinful humanity. Total surrender brings joy and there is no opposite to joy!

Today’s challenge: Take “The Kingdom of God is at hand” seriously. Allow God into your heart and allow Jesus to transform you. Read and reread the information given to us by the most loving Person in the universe. Then, enjoy the peace in your life now and in eternal life. Pray every day for your vocation asking God what He made you for. God wants you to know His Will. Give without counting the cost, love until it hurts.

Be a servant, be a saint today!
