Prayer Prompt before reading LK 5:1-11: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.
“DO NOT BE AFRAID; FROM NOW ON YOU WILL BE CATCHING MEN.” LK 5:1-11
Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Today, Jesus calls his disciples to follow Him.
“When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.”
While sitting in silence and thinking about this, I thought to myself what would it take for me to leave everything and follow Jesus. Leaving everything means something different for each one of us. The question Jesus is asking all of us today is, “What is holding you back from making me the center of your life?” No matter the excuse we come up with Jesus responds to all of us, “Be not afraid!”
This will require some change in our lives, but more importantly God wants to transform our hearts. Peter was married. Some of the Apostles had full time jobs as fishermen and the others had other trades.
Today, in this Scripture passage, Jesus is calling you to follow Him.
If you have any thoughts of becoming a priest or religious brother or sister, start praying daily asking God if this is your vocation. Ask Him if you are to be married and start praying for your future spouse. We are all called to be followers of Jesus, disciples. This is our journey to learn how to love. You have a choice to make; God’s grace is waiting to be given to you everyday. He is chasing after you to bring you back to Him.
Today, Jesus may be asking you to give some things up to follow Him, but they are nothing compared to the joy and peace you will receive by giving your heart to Jesus. There will be sorrow and sacrifice, too. Just ask Mary, His mother. Love requires sacrifice and unselfishness. It requires swallowing one’s pride. Jesus does not care where you are at in your spiritual life, today He is calling you to follow Him. “Be not afraid!”
Today’s challenge: Don’t worry about how much of a sinner you are, allow Jesus into your heart. He will slowly transform you. ”Be not afraid!”
Be a servant, be a saint today!
#Christian YODO (You Only Die Once; we will live again!)
To approach God we need to leave all of the roadblocks that get in between God and us behind.
We need to drop everything for God. God will try to work trough us in are everyday life. we need to pray for a vocation. He loves us and will always love us no mader what.
What stuck out to me in this scripture reflection was how we are all called to be followers of Christ. “If you have any thoughts of becoming a priest or religious brother or sister, start praying daily asking God if this is your vocation.” God is waiting to give you grace everyday. We need to allow Jesus in our hearts.
” “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.”
When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him.”
When Jesus told them this I think he meant that they shall go fetch men and women and bring them into faith, so they shall not walk away from faith but shall walk into the faith. Jesus wants them to leave everything and go look for men and women for faith.(to m=bring them to faith). Jesus will always want us to have a close connection with him, but we cant have that close connection if we walk away from the faith. You must stay strong in your faith to gave an even greater connection to God.
today’s Gospel says that you should follow Jesus for He knows where you are going and what is right, I believe that Jesus was saying to drop all that you have so you can live a life prayer and happiness
They left everything and followed Jesus because they believed in Him. They all knew that He was right. You have to listen to God and be open to what he has to say. You cant shut him out and then go to Him whenever you need Him. You have to always be with Him and listen and goods things might happen.
What I got from the gospel today is to never doubt the power of God and to never doubt your power in God Because he sacrificed for us and now all we do is doubt and never see the truth and that why you need to take out your day to speak to him or pray to him anything because God would do anything for us so we need to do the same for him and pray to him and worship him and just love him
today’s Gospel says that you should follow Jesus for He knows where you are going and what is right, I believe that Jesus was saying to drop all that you have so you can live a life prayer and happiness.
“DO NOT BE AFRAID; FROM NOW ON YOU WILL BE CATCHING MEN.” LK 5:1-11. This stood out to me because Jesus is saying not to be afraid and that they are now catching the wisdom of God.
This gospel is telling me that even with the smallest and worthless things, God can turn it into something great.
I think the phrase “Jesus may be asking you to give some things up to follow Him, but they are nothing compared to the joy and peace you will receive by giving your heart to Jesus. ” tells us that no matter how much we have compares in no way to what we will have in heaven. Jesus tells us that to accomplish this there will be sorrow and sacrifice but it wont compare to the joy we will feel once united with God.
“Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.”
When they brought their boats to the shore,
they left everything and followed him.”
Here Jesus is saying that they won’t have to catch fish anymore, they will be catching men to follow Christ. And they believed him, and loved him so they left everything just so they could follow him in love.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells the apostles to cast their nets out and they say they have been fishing all night and haven’t caught anything, but they still do it. And when they catch so much fish their nets almost break and they almost sink they realize that their faith in God is all they need. Sometimes, we can be like the apostles and be in a spot where we need something to help us, but blind to the fact that we can turn to God and when we finally do, it will work out.
Something new will come to me in a different way. It may not come to instantly but it will come to me at some point.
When you least expect it God will give you what you have been praying for and hoping for. Just like in the Gospel today it shows how Simon didn’t believe Jesus when he said to cast the nets out again but when he had faith in what Jesus was doing the nets were so full they almost ripped. Jesus tells me today that all the pain you are feeling right now is going to be nothing for what he has to come for us.
In today’s scripture Jesus is telling me that I should give up some things because there is nothing better than the joy and the peace Jesus has given us. But Jesus tells us that there will also be sorrow and sacrifices but it will be okay because we need the peace and joy from God because nothing is better than God and his amazing sacrifices.
Today in the Gospel, the men were fishing, but were not catching anything. Jesus told them to go deeper and take a risk to go out into the dangerous waters to catch more fish. They were concerned that nothing would happen, and they would just put more danger around them. But, they did it. They went and caught two full nets of fish! We are the men. We don’t realize that Jesus has a plan for us. Jesus will lead us into the right direction if we let Him. In conclusion, Jesus is the only one we need to be more like. Let us all follow in His footsteps, so we can get to Heaven.
Today in the Gospel Simon doubts Jesus and doesn’t realize that God has a plan for every single one of us. He loves and guides us and wants us to follow Him.
today’s Gospel says that you should follow Jesus for He knows where you are going and what is right, I believe that Jesus was saying to drop all that you have so you can live a life prayer and happiness
Help me learn who you are so I can know who I am.Pray every day and have a good vocation.Give some thing up and love/praise Jesus.don’t worry about being a sinner and allow Jesus in your heart.
It stuck out to me when Peter said “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing,
but at your command I will lower the nets.” because it shows that if you fully trust in Jesus you will do things even when they seem pointlss.
What spoke to me is that God is saying to the apostles and to us to leave our doubts and worries behind us and we can follow God to a better place.
Today in the gospel Jesus asked his disciples to throw the net into the water. Even though they were doubtful and they hadn’t caught anything Simon still listened to Jesus. And because the disciples listened to Jesus they caught many fish. Today I think that Jesus is telling me to follow him no matter what.
The Gospel of today, Jesus is trying to tell us that we should all try to lead everyone into the faith of Jesus. He wants us to follow Him so that we will join Him in heaven.
Jesus told them to cast their nets and even though they had not caught anything and still didn’t think they would they lowered it out of their trust in Jesus. As they brought the fish filled nets up they were all in complete astonishment and left everything so they could go with Jesus.
This gospel seems to show the greatness of God. What he can do and I really like this gospel because of the apostles reactions they first said that nothing gonna happen when they put net in but they belived, they believed him. They put the net in the water and when all the fish came out Simon fell to his knees. He said thank you Lord, thank you. He said “depart from me for I am a sinful man and Jesus said do not be afraid for now you will be catching men. Once again I really love this gospel because it shows what God can do, all the amazing things, all the little things.
What stood out to me was when Jesus said to Simon Peter “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” I think that even if we are not sure what we will do Jesus always has a plan and it is up to us if we want to follow it.
Jesus told them to fish in the deep water but Simon said that they haven’t been catching all night but hey as Jesus told them so. And when they raised the net the net had so much fish in it was tearing. So you should always trust Jesus and try your best to be like him and be kind and nice to other people like he was to Simon.
i think that knew he was unworthy but Jesus did not care about his sins he cared that he was there a long side him
“Do not be afraid” to me it means don ´ t be afraid because I am your God and you are my sons and daughters. You are the image of christs feet do what the Lord tells you and do kind and loving things.
Help me learn who you are so I can know who I am.Pray every day and have a good vocation.Give some thing up and love/praise Jesus.don’t worry about being a sinner and allow Jesus in your heart.love Jesus have a good day.
I think the gospel was very awesome this has always been my favorite Gospel.
When I think about the gospel today I think about how they were fishing for fish, then men. When I think about how different those two things are it reminds me that I may be living my life very differently than God wants me to live my life. God may want me to do something totally different than I am thinking I should be doing especially as I am discerning my vocation for the future. Listening to God can help me find what I should be doing instead of what I am or think I should be.
In today’s gospel, “Jesus sat next to the men that had been fishing and said to them “Put out into deep water and lower your nets for a catch.” but Simon said in return “master we have been working hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets” when they did this they caught tons of fish.” This stuck out to me because its saying that as long as we listen to God’s will, we can and will receive what we need or want and more.
Something that stood out to me in the scripture is that when they asked God for something they received it. So that tells me whenever you pray and ask for something you will receive it. So you should always pray.
What stuck out to me was that Jesus told his disciples to leave everything to follow him. I feel like he means earthly attachments and to seek
the truth
what sticks out to me the most is that no matter how much you sin Jesus will always love you even if you sin.
Something that stuck out to me the most was no matter how much you sin Jesus will love you so no matter how much of a sinner you are Jesus will always love you.
To me it feels like he is telling me to leave my bad habits and actions and follow him. For he saved me from my sins and knows what I want in life and has a plan to make sure I stay on the path of goodness.
“What is holding you back from making me the center of your life?” No matter the excuse we come up with Jesus responds to all of us, “Be not afraid!” This stood out to me the most.
When Simon said lower your nets and Jesus helped them catch a great amount of fish.
What I took from this Gospel reading is drop all the bad in your life and follow Jesus because he loves us even when we are not being the best person we can be.
“Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” This really stood out to me because even though they didn’t catch anything, they still didn’t give up on Jesus, and they caught a huge number of fish.
The fraze that stuck out to me was that they would be catching men.
“Jesus said to Simon, Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” I think what Jesus means by this is to preach to other people and spread the word of God.
The thing that stuck out to me is “From the day we heard about you, we do not cease praying for youand asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding” it means to me that from the day we were born we have not understud you yet.
Today the gospel is telling me ”Do not be afraid” because Jesus is always with us.
With God, anything is possible.
Simon said cast your nets and then Jesus helped them catch a great amount of fish.
In the Gospel it says that left everything to follow Jesus. “Do not be afraid;
from now on you will be catching men.” Jesus said this to Peter, James and John because they would later add to Jesus’ following and Peter and James became some of the first martyrs for the Catholic faith.
I think God is trying to say to me that it may not work the first but try again and see.
When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him. this came to me because they just dropped what they had and followed Jesus.
in today’s scripture the men are fishing but not catching anything then Jesus tells them to cast on the other side one last time up first they were doubtful but reluctantly agreed when they do there are hundreds of fish in the net the gospel is teaching me to always trust in Jesus even when it is hard.
in today’s scripture the men are fishing but not catching anything then Jesus tells them to cast on the other side one last time up first they were doubtful but reluctantly agreed when they do there are hundreds of fish in the net the gospel is teaching me to always trust in Jesus even when it is hard.
God is saying that if we falow him things will work out for our sole
“When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him” This really stuck out to me because they left everything for Jesus. At some point in your day you need to give some time for Jesus.
“DO NOT BE AFRAID; FROM NOW ON YOU WILL BE CATCHING MEN.” LK 5:1-11 What this means to me is that we need to stand up for God no matter the circumstances. That we also need to help others who don’t believe in Jesus comes closer to him and that we should not be afraid because God is with us. And that through prayer all things are possible.
In the Gospel its saying “strengthened with every power, in accord with his glorious might,” What this means to me is when something is happening that is not good or your not happy about something, this means to keep your strength with you. and keep your head up.
“This will require some change in our lives, but more importantly God wants to transform our hearts”. Today I feel God is asking us to change our lives from being focused on things that don’t matter as much. We need to turn to him to have eternal life and make our way to Heaven.
“Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.” I think that today’s Gospel is trying to tell us to not forget everything that we’ve ever known and loved and follow Jesus instead, but to just make enough room in our lives (maybe more) so that we can listen to Jesus. Whenever we go to church, we listen to the gospel and daily readings. Every day, God is trying to tell us something new, and we, if we haven’t yet, need to open our minds to him.
In the Gospel today Jesus told Peter and his brother to cast their nets to the right side of their boat. They were doubtful at first but when they did they pulled a great number of fish. Jesus is trying to tell us that we can always trust Him and should put our faith in Him.
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” Even though Simon said this, Jesus would never leave him or think any different of him. Just like he does with any other human, even if they don’t want him in their life, he will always still love you.
I think what God is trying to tell me is that we should listen to His word. In todays gospel he tells them to cast their nets again into the water, although they already did cast they did it again and they caught a large amount of fish. This shows that when we willingly submit to God’s will the great things happen. We are all sinners but God still chooses us.
What stuck out to me was how they just dropped everything to follow Jesus from that one moment.
The gospel talks about how Jesus told Peter to cast his net on the fight side of the boat. Jesus is trying to tell us to always trust Him.
when Jesus says “they left everything and followed him.” I feel like it says that Jesus wants all of you so you have to pick up your cross and follow Jesus in his daily teaching you have to give yourself to God.
In today’s Gospel God is saying to me that we need to do something outside of what we normally do. That he will reward spiritually if we do. We will do something that God thinks is kind and is helpful to a lot of people that we will get if we do his will by following him.
We are all called to be followers of Christ. “Jesus is calling you to follow Him”. when we open our hearts and minds to God we are already being a loyal follower. Jesus doesn’t ask for us to give everything we know and love up to follow him. He wants us to keep him close in our hearts and mind and we cant do that when we are prioritizing other items.
In the gospel today Jesus tells the apostles to go to different waters to catch fish. The apostles are hesitant, but they do.They catch a bountiful catch. This shows that Jesus has a plan and we need to trust it.
I feel that in todays Gospel is a message of the trust and love that we should put into God. He leads us when we trust him in love. Simon represents us when we trust God
“We are all called to be followers of Jesus, disciples. This is our journey to learn how to love. You have a choice to make; God’s grace is waiting to be given to you everyday. He is chasing after you to bring you back to Him.”
we are all born into God’s kingdom, which means we most likely should follow him. we have to love him no matter what, and love everyone else. instead of leaving God alone and going to other things, we should turn back to God and talk to him more. because of these selfish things he is trying to get back to us, we need to get back to him instead of him chasing us.
What I think the Lord is trying to tell us today, Is that we are loved and we just need to trust in him like the fishermen trusted in him. they ended getting nets full of fish and that’s how we know we are loved and that Jesus will always have a plan for us a home for us and will always be thinking of us.
Jesus is asking us to give up things to live with him, as we are called to be missionaries by Christ. He wants us to follow the path to heaven and be with him eternally in paradise. And all it takes is to give up something up.
In today’s gospel it talks about Jesus asking the question will or can we drop everything for him. Jesus says to us ” “What is holding you back from making me the center of your life?” No matter the excuse we come up with Jesus responds to all of us, “Be not afraid!”. We must answer and listen to what God asks us because everything he tells us is always important.
The message I got from today’s gospel was that I need to trust in God and not doubt him. Jesus said to Peter in the gospel to throw his net into the deep water instead of into the shallow water where they were working all night. This tells me that Jesus wants us to take risks and to not stay stuck in doubt, like how Peter was staying in the shallow water because he was afraid of the deep water.
I think this Gospel reminds me just how powerful Jesus is. He can do anything because He is Jesus. Even He, who is very big and powerful chooses to love us.
In the gospel today Jesus reveals himself to the first Apostles. He does this by giving them an enormous catch of fish where there was no fish to be caught. The apostles trust God because of their faith in him. Because of their faith they left everything in their possession to follow him. In this day and age that is something we can’t even think of doing. But they do it without needing any persuasion because they knew this was what God wanted them to do with their lives.
I think todays Gospel is telling us that no matter what Jesus loves us because he is our Lord and Savoir and will do anything for us.
In the Gospel the men were fishing and caught nothing they said but when Jesus tells them to lower it one more time they catch a lot of fish. This tells us to believe in God and trust in him for he is great
Today’s Gospel tells us about how Jesus was preaching and these fishermen were there fishing. He went on their boat and told them to lower their nests. These fishermen hadn’t caught anything all day and were getting so frustrated that Simon Peter even questioned Jesus. Jesus resisted and said to lower their nets. So they did and they caught so much fish. Jesus claimed them as his disciple and also to be fishers of men.
In today’s gospel something that stuck out to me was that Simon didn’t believe Jesus at first when Jesus said cast your net in but Simon listens because he had to, but think about this if Simon wasn’t forced to throw the net do you think he would’ve? I don’t think so because sometimes we don’t wanna do things but we do them because we are forced to. Jesus showed Simon that he is always right by Simon and his men catching loads of fish so this shows we must always listen to God even when we think he is wrong
something that got stuck in my head was that Jeuss I calling us to be holy disciples of him even tho we have sinned so much he still wants us near him and beside him and to Love him and have ea personal relationship with him. Jesus also told us we have a choice we can leave everything behind and follow Jesus him and be in his prensence forever or we can make stupid desicions our whole life and follow a life of lust and you ruin your life and die and never be in the prensence of your creator. Jesus gave us free will so we could do anything we want. Jesus is calling us to leave everything behind and follow him of course this doesn’t mean to leave your mom or father or spouse. if you have a single thought about something you want to be when you grow up pray to God and ask him if this is your vocation and what he wants you to do. Jesus truly loves us and wants us to have a relationship, if you want to be anything ask God if this is what you should be whem your grow up. If you want to be married or a priest ask God you should either get married or be a priest or be whatever you want to be. Ask God before you ask anyone else cause he is the one who holds the future to your life.
I think today in the Gospel God is telling me to never doubt him, even when what He is asking seems impossible. He is also telling me that I need to serve Him faithfully and help others come back to Him.
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” This stuck out of me because It means that we need to realize and admit we are wring for doubting or sinning or that we did do wrong. But God will always fogive us as long as we trust in him and his plan that we had for us. We need to be willing to do Gods will and do whatever he wants us to do even if its hard.
In Today’s Gospel Jesus tells Simon to cast their nets into the ocean. After a long night of catching nothing, they had an abundance of fish. When Simon saw this he repented. Simon and his partners then left everything and followed Jesus as His disciples. We should leave our things on earth in order to follow Jesus with our whole heart and mind.
What stood out to me in this Gospel is how Jesus is willing to accept you even if you deny him. Jesus calls everyone to believe in him because he knows what is best for you. This also shows that if you repent about your wrong doing’s God will always forgive you and bless your life just how he blessed Simon and Peter even tho they doubted him.
What stuck out to me today is that when Jesus told Simon to go and lower their nets for a catch after they had caught nothing Simon did it without hesitation. Simon could have easily said no we have caught nothing that makes you think we can catch some now. But he didn’t believe that Jesus our savior would do something in his favor. Jesus didn’t do this because he wanted more fish he did this to show them and everybody else how powerful he is and that he is in control. But we have to let him be in control and listen to him.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus orders his apostles to lower down their nets in the lake to catch fish. One of them says, “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets.” Then, they caught so much fish that the nets were tearing. At the sight, they fell onto their knees.
Likewise, Jesus is telling us to spend some time with him; stop worrying about anxiety and the worries of life, because Jesus has a plan for you. Following Jesus is the best choice for your entire life. He’ll give you everything you need to leave everything and follow him. By “everything,” he doesn’t mean your family, or your future spouse and kids, but rather the things that don’t matter, yet we make a big deal of it, such as social media. We should put our faith in God and trust in his plan to save us.
In todays Gospel the men were fishing all day and did not catch anything yet they / God. lowered their nets into the water when Jesus says and they catch so many fish. They had faith and they were rewarded. our learning intention is to have faith in Jesus
In today’s Gospel Jesus says lower your net deeper and they were kind of
scared to go in the deep water to lower their net so they did .
they were scared they wouldn’t catch any fish but when they lifted up there
net and it was filled with fish it was so heavy the could kinda lift it because
for the lord said to them do not be afraid and they went to there knees and praised
what that means is we should follow the lord so we can get to heaven.
” Do not be afraid, from now on you will be catching men.” Shows that God calls us to share his love with others.
¨Dont be afraid¨ really stuck out to me and to not be afraid of how much a sinner I am and to let God talk to me and come into my heart, also that God can make anything great.
Something that stuck out to me was when they all followed Jesus and left everything behind. They did all of this because they loved him so much, and wanted to start believing in him. Jesus loves us more than anything. And it is important to know that.
“depart from me, for I am a sinful man.” This stuck out to me because Peter thought he was unworthy to be with Jesus. Jesus loves us all, so much that he was willing to die on the cross for us. God wants us to have a relationship with him, so follow him.
You must leave behind all things that distract us from God our father and make sacrifices to the Lord so that he may bless you for eternity Jesus had everything the world the universe the heavens and everything but in order to help us he became poor for us so that we may be rich in the kingdom of God you should give up and offer something every day to God and take some time away from what you usually do and youse it for GOD!!!
Todays scripture I think Jesus is telling me to give something up. even if its hard todo. That also to make sacrifices also.
In today’s gospel what I got from it was that we need to drop everything in our lives that we put before the Lord that we idolize before him and go to him because truly in the word of God and through miracles on earth Jesus Christ, god the father, and the holy spirit work in absolutely beautiful,jaw-dropping ways that we will never understand until we try to put in the effort to know. you will never know a person without trying to get to know them. and he wants you to come to him because he has the strongest undying love for his sheep and as in the scriptures Jesus will leave the 99 sheep for just 1 lost.
it was fun paragraph to read tells you live a good life a fun life you only live only
“Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” this spoke to me from today’s gospel because no matter what God will not leave us even if we stray from our faith. If we pray to him he will answer. if we are ever in a time of struggle if we pray to God he will hear and help us.
“DO NOT BE AFRAID; FROM NOW ON YOU WILL BE CATCHING MEN.” stood out to me because In the gospel they were catching fish but now Jesus is catching men and growing in relations with people
Simon was not sure it would work but trusted God and did what he said to. He ended up getting lots of fish and fell to his knees telling God to depart from home. I feel like that is God’s message to trust him and you will be rewarded.
A line that stuck out to me personally was “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” What I think he meant was that Jesus wanted Simon to find more people to share the word of God with.
In the gospel, Peter sees no purpose in putting the nets back out, and yet when Jesus tells him to, he does. This shows that we should follow God’s will even when we see no purpose in what we’re doing when we do. That is faith. #truefaith #YODO
it was fun paragraph to read tells you live a good life a fun life you only live only
I think that God is trying to tell me that we don’t have to give up everything to follow him, but that when we give up time talent and treasure we still have a long way to go, but we may get there eventually. It says Peter has a Wife and I’m guessing he didn’t have to leave her forever and that he still got to come back, so I don’t have to give up everything everything, but can do the best I can. #christian YODO
The part that stood out to me was when Simon told Jesus “‘Depart from me for I am a sinful man'” and then Jesus tells him “‘Do not be afraid'”. This stuck out to me because sometimes people might feel like that they are too sinful to be with Jesus, but He we have all sinned at some point. Even then Jesus will still except all of us even if we have sinned because he loves all of us.
