Prayer Prompt before reading LK 6:27-38: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.
“FOR THE MEASURE WITH WHICH YOU MEASURE WILL IN RETURN BE MEASURED OUT TO YOU.” LK 6:27-38
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Today’s Gospel is taken from Luke’s Sermon on the Plain which is similar to the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew’s Gospel. The section today’s Gospel is taken from is “Love of Enemies” and how to treat our neighbor. What speaks to my heart the most is that we are all sinners.
We fail to do the Father’s Will by judging, condemning, being selfish, labeling, gossip, spreading rumors, talking behind each other’s backs, anger, lust, sloth, pride, greed, envy, and gluttony. I often see this in myself as a father trying to teach my own children to be holy. It’s hard. I sometimes get on them about something when I don’t model it well myself. It doesn’t mean that I stop disciplining with tough love, but I try to be mindful of how I am living what I am teaching them myself.
God will be the final judge of our lives. We are called to judge as fathers, mothers, teachers, judges, etc., but when we judge it must be based on God’s laws. He is love and mercy with justice. He has compassion (suffers with) on us, but He taught us sin has serious consequences. It breaks our trust with God and God has done everything He can to show His love and build up our trust in Him.
His love and mercy are so great that He gave His only Son to die for us. God’s love is more powerful than anything in the world! This is why He is so radical to teach to even love our enemies. This is crazy talk! This is radical love! God’s love overcomes everything and He wants to share it with you.
God is love straight through says Bishop Barron. He just loves. No matter how many times we sin or how big of a whopper it is, God just loves us. He is not a boss or manager who loves us when we don’t sin and doesn’t love us when we do. He is not far away, He is right here in our hearts. Always present, always sustaining, always loving, ready to forgive.
Trust Him and remain in His love by remaining in the state of grace receiving the Eucharist often and go to confession regularly. Remain in His love by praying daily developing a relationship with Him. Talk less and listen more when you pray. As Jesus said today, do something for someone who cannot pay you back, a baby, a child, a stranger, a homeless person.
We are called to recognize the love and mercy the Father has for us, so that we too can love and be merciful to others. Are you willing to lose your pride and think of others before yourself in all that you do today?
Today’s challenge: Try to live without judging today, what someone is wearing, how they look, how they talk, what they said, and if they say something that hurts or offends you, be ready to forgive. Love the unlovable in your world today. Give expecting nothing in return. It’s hard being a Christian! Only with God’s grace can we fulfill what Jesus wants us to do in today’s Gospel and become “perfect (holy) like the heavenly Father is perfect”.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
#Christian YODO (You Only Die Once; we will live again!)
What stood out to me is “Trust Him and remain in His love by remaining in the state of grace receiving the Eucharist often and go to confession regularly” this stood out to me because not everybody does both of those they may just receive communion and not go to confession or vice versa.
In todayś gospel it say that we need to love any and everybody no matter what they do to you.
we need to do God will.he wants us to do good but we have to follow Gods laws.If we dont fowlow God law we wll have surice concosins. we need to stop juding others beacuse no one is perfect absepet God
Today in the Gospel, Jesus tells us that even if someone is treating you horribly, just let them. You have to be a bigger person. You have to just let it go. No one is better or smarter or prettier than you. You be the kind and caring and helpful person. You need to let go of the grudge you are holding, because in the end, the only thing that matters is Jesus Christ.
Great insight, Piper! If nobody else in the room is loving, maybe God put you in that room to be the love that others need!
“FOR THE MEASURE WITH WHICH YOU MEASURE WILL IN RETURN BE MEASURED OUT TO YOU.” LK 6:27-38. This stood out to me because Jesus says ¨ For the measure with which will in return be measured out to you.¨ and to me this means that the measure that we make or possibly cause will be returned when we go to heaven or when Jesus calls us home.
Today´s Gospel says to love those who hate you, you should offer them everything like Jesus does. People hated him yet he still loved them
You should want to give and not receive. When you do what God asks your reward will be amazing. When you forgive then you will be forgiven too. God will always return to you as long as you return to Him. He will always be waiting for you.
God gives everything to you in return he gets nothing. When you give a gift to someone you feel full and proud. Why not give yourself away to the man who died for you? When you judge others you are also judged. Don´t judge others and they will not judge you.
You have it figured out, great reflection! Now the hard part, apply it to our lives.
This is saying that if we do good things then good things will be done to us in the future.
Today’s Gospel is kind of like the prayer of st Francis, it is also probably the Gospel that we need to apply to our life the most. We have to be the best to our neighbor and the best to God and this Gospel tells us exactly how we do that.
In today’s Gospel it is talking about how everything we do has a reward which means that the reward we receive is the love of our Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God. Everything we give to others we give in a kind way and always never expect something in return from them yet. Because you have the love of God and if you have his love you will be happy and that is all you need in this life. Have a good rest of your day. God loves you!!! God Bless!!!
People think loving your enemies is impossible but when it comes from Jesus we realize how its not as bad. Humanity put Jesus through torment but he forgave the people who tortured and beat him. While on the other hand people can hold grudges about little to nothing. I think everybody should use Jesus as an example of how we need to love and forgive people who hurt us and talk badly about us.
I think he is trying to tell me to love your neighbors and enemies as yourself and to be kind to them because that´s his creations and your pretty much making fun of his creation and don´t be rude to them and be generous and be kind to them and don´t hate them because they are a human being like everyone else and that does not mean they should get treated worse because violence is never the answer to anything.
This gospel reflection tells me about how Important it is to care for others. It is also important to not judge when your imperfect yourself. We should always love everyone and try to be like Christ.
It was telling me that it does not matter how many times I’ve have sin or how big the sin is, God can release me from my sins.
¨We are called to recognize the love and mercy the Father has for us, so that we too can love and be merciful to others.” This is trying to tell us that we need to really recognize and see how much God loves and cares for us, in order to love and be kind to others. This scripture is also talking about how we need to lose our pride and think about others before our self. It´s easy for us to only think about our self but we need to do more things for others and recognize their feelings too.
You are spot on with your reflection, good job!
“But rather, love your enemies and do good to them,
and lend expecting nothing back;”
In the Gospel today I think Jesus is saying he wants us to hate no one and love everyone because if we don’t, we won’t reach heaven as easily. If we hate one another we will not be forgiven and we will be treated as we treat others so it won’t be a very happy life…
“Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you.”
This part of the Gospel today really sticks out to me because, if you stop judging, a lot of people will not/stop judging you. Most of the time people judge us because we are judging others, so if we don’t judge others we shall not be judged. If you stop condemning, you still not be condemned. If you stop condemning, no one will put in the effort to condemn you, until you start getting condemned again. Forgive and you will be forgiven. If you forgive people other people will start to forgive you, due to them finding out you are a kinder person then they thought you were, so they will be kinder back. It goes on with everything else, if you do or stop doing something, others will stop doing it to you/ others will stop being kinder, or they will stop showing they care, and wont help you with the things you need help with.
I think the gospel is trying to tell us is that, we cant stop sinning but what can do is better than what evil does to us. We can go to church, confession, we can more good than evil, don’t try to stop evil, but try to do good.
I think the gospel is trying to tell us is that, we cant stop sinning but what can do is better than what evil does to us. We can go to church, confession, we can more good than evil, don’t try to stop evil, but try to do good.
Thanks for the reflection, Edgar! I hope is going well!
Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth. We are called to recognize the love and mercy the Father has for us, so that we too can love and be merciful to others. We fail to do the Father’s Will by judging, condemning, being selfish, labeling, gossip, spreading rumors, talking behind each other’s backs, anger, lust, sloth, pride, greed, envy, and gluttony.
It´s easy for us to only think about our self but we need to do more things for others and recognize their feelings too
If someones meant to us we should not be mean back but we should forgive just like Jesus has many times. Jesus is telling us to be nice no matter what.
Today Jesus is telling me that instead of expecting payment in return when I lend something to someone I should expect nothing back, then my reward will be greater then any payment from the person I lent something to. “Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.”
“love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” I feel like this is a great scripture to read when you are having a hard time forgiving someone.
We need to give to earn it is like if you have everything in the world and you cant get anymore stuff then you should give all that you have to others and you will rec
eive something greater 10 fold
“Do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Jesus is telling us to love and pray for our enemies and we doubt this because we think it’s absurd when really it is the right thing to do. We should all learn to get better at this and listen to God’s Word.
Today’s gospel means to be the bigger person and let it go. If someone wants to judge you, let them. If someone wants talk about you, let them. There is never going to be a time when someone doesn’t talk or say something about you. People judge, people hate, and hold grudges. You just have to accept it and let it go.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged.” Jesus is trying to tell us that we should be mean and to not hurt anybody so that we will not be the one to hurt”.
i think that the gospel is trying to tell everyone deserves to be treated kindly even to strangers and maybe strangers might do good to you too.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged”, this is powerful don´t judge your neighbors to me means that don´t judge people that do bad things open them up to the Lord or God.
Today the gospel tells me about loving out enemies. ¨forgive and you shall be forgiven, Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you.¨So if your enemies are hurting you pray for them and be kind to them!
Today the gospel is asking us to be kind to all. When they ask for something, dont withold rather give all you have to them your clothes belongings. God is asking us not to be rude to others but to be kind even if they hate you dont hate them back and its okay to have those feelings but you need to say no you need to say that even though they hate you you cant hate them back you have to be kind be loving. One of my favorite lines is in this gospel. ¨To the person who strikes you on one cheek,
offer the other one as well, and from the person who takes your cloak, do not withhold even your tunic.¨. I just love that line everytime i hear it it inspires me tells me that i need to be nicer to people. Cause there are times im mean non of us are perfect but you cant continue with those actions you need to repent you need to go to connfestion and ask for forgivness and it will be forgiven and you need to forgive whoever is mean to you. I just love this Gospel! God Bless.
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells us that “Do to others as you would have them do to you.For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you?Even sinners do the same.If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you?Even sinners lend to sinners, and get back the same amount” I think what he is saying that we are no better than sinners and we are just the same as sinners no matter how holy we are so what gives us the right to think we are better than them or holier than them.
The todays gospel said ays gospel said “For if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same.” This shows that we must be loving and good even when nobody is loving or good to us.
The Gospel today reminded me of what somebody said today,”If you hate someone, then you hate God too, so it’s best to forgive.”
The part that stuck out to me was ¨Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth¨
“Love of Enemies” if someone is being rude to you that does not mean to be rude back you should forgive them.
In today’s gospel it says love your enemies and pray for those who treat you badly. Share with people and lend people money not expecting anything back. Forgive others and you will be forgiven.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you” This is God telling me to be more kind to those around me.
Give, give to others that are kind but also give to the others that are not so kind. Love everyone no matter the difference.
¨ But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back; then your reward will be great and you will be children of the Most High, for he himself is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.¨ This stood out to me because God is telling us that we should not expect anything back to us even when we do a good deed.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged”. I think God is trying to tell me that i need to stop looking and judging people inperfections and focus on the perfections that they have.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged” i picked this one because why judge someone if you would not like it if they judge you.
God is love straight through. he just loves no matter how many times we sin. trust in him and remain in his love by remaining in the state of grace. we should try with all our might to be close to God in the Eucharist because he saves us from out faults and fears.
God will always love us no matter what we do which is crazy because when someone messes up in our lives we get mad and talk bad about them. But God never dose that even when Adam and Eve made the biggest mistake God still sent His ONLY Son to save us from death and so that we can be with Him in Heaven for the rest of eternity.
In todays gospel it tells us to love others even the ones who hate you because no matter how much you disobey Jesus or hate him he will love you no matter what.
I think that we need to apply this to my life more because it says “We fail to do the Father’s Will by judging, condemning, being selfish, labeling, gossip, spreading rumors, talking behind each other’s backs, anger, lust, sloth, pride, greed, envy, and gluttony”.
In the Gospel, it says “To you who hear I say, love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you. This is telling us that whatever happens you are to love your enemies as you love your self be the bigger person.
The Gospel today is very similar to the golden rule which we usally learn in kindergarten so it’s basically a reminder of it and how to treat others.
“We are called to judge as fathers, mothers, teachers, judges, etc., but when we judge it must be based on God’s laws.” is what stuck out to me. If we didn’t have laws we would fall apart as a community same with God’s
God gives us everything even his own son but despite that ,most of us only give back a fraction of what he ´ s given to us.
Jesus wants us to for give our enimys because it is not suppose to be a world world of nee for a nee
“Love of Enemies” If someone is being rude does not mean that you should be rude back you should forgive them .
Today’s gospel says that you shall do unto others as they would do to you. Jesus says to love your enemies and be kind to them. if someone strikes you on the cheek turn them the other.
‘Humbly submit your will to God ¨. I think this means that we are here because God wants us to spread his word and we are to busy doing other things. Also we are here to give everything to God and not be worried about everything else going on.
In the Gospel its talking about how we need to love our enemies. ΅ His love and mercy are so great that He gave His only Son to die for us.” We need to love like him because when someone did something bad to Him, He still forgave them and is nice to them. So we need to be like that.
“FOR THE MEASURE WITH WHICH YOU MEASURE WILL IN RETURN BE MEASURED OUT TO YOU.” What this means to me is that we need to treat others how you wanna be treated and think on what the smart thing to do if there is an issue. If you give to others it will be paid back to you eventually. You might not know when it will or if it will ever be on earth but Jesus will always repay us in heaven with love and joy. So we need to step up and be the leaders of the school and help others out.
“Stop judging and you will stop being judged.” I like this Gospel because it talks about how sinners lead sinners and to stop doing bad things and you will receive good back. If we were just kind and not so judgmental our world would be so much more of a better place.
What stuck out to me was “To you who hear I say, love your enemies,do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” we have to treat everyone how we want to be treated that means being nice and kind to your enemies and everyone else around you.
“Trust Him and remain in His love by remaining in the state of grace receiving the Eucharist often and go to confession regularly” this is telling us that we need to really love everyone else like he does us. He cares so much about us and we need to show that we care back.
I think God is telling me to forgive others. Jesus forgave us by dying on the cross for our sins. If he didnt love us and forgive us he wouldnt have died for us. He was perfect and we are sinners but He still loves us.
What I think the lord is trying to tell me is do they golden rule but also if someone hurts me forgive them and get to know them a bit better. Just like the lord did to every single one of us.
In today’s Scripture God is telling me that we to give up what is bad for us. Like give up your phone for a little more to help to go with this. Also, to forgive everything everyone has done.
When God does good for us He expects nothing in return. We should do the same and love our enemies. we should do good to others and expect nothing in return of good actions
In today’s gospel, Jesus says, “To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” Everyone has somebody in their lives that they just don’t get along with. But even though that person may have hurt you and you don’t want to forgive them, or you may have hurt them, it is always good to take the first step and sometimes just say two words. “I’m sorry.” I love the quote, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” I feel like it is a good quote to live by and to learn from. If Jesus was able to forgive everyone on Earths’ sins, surely we can do our best to forgive a few people.
“He taught us sin has serious consequences. It breaks our trust with God and God has done everything He can to show His love and build up our trust in Him.
people make mistakes, People sin, and that’s okay. after you realize that, get closer to God, not just so you don’t sin, but to be holy, to be closer and to get closer to God. to have more faith.
In today’s gospel I think we should really focus on when it says love your enemies. We should focus on that because some people might not and they should.
I think this Gospel reminds us to not hold grunge’s. We should love our enemies and accept apologies. Jesus forgave the soldiers who killed Him so we should do the same for our enemies.
This scripture is telling me to not judge others, for God is the only true judge of us all. We shouldn’t put other things before him, as he made those things, made us, and everything we love. He is more powerful than we could ever imagine. He is the one who sent his son, Jesus, to save us from hell and our burdens (sins).
In today’s gospel, the message I got from Jesus was that I need to follow the golden rule and treat others how I want to be treated. Jesus says today that we should do good to those who hate you. I believe that this means that if I want to be treated with respect, then I must be respectful to others as well.
What stuck out to me today in the Gospel is Jesus trying to tell us just because someone does something to you doesn’t mean you do it back to them. Or just because someone did something wrong doesn’t mean there worse than us or are different we all make bad choices in our life for different reasons so how can we judge someone off of a mistake they make when we ourselves could make one like that.
What i got from the scipture is that we are supposed to love everybody no matter what, we should do this for many reasons. One is because we are all humans and we all deserve love and respect. Another is the golden rule which is treat others how you want to be treated.
do good to those who hate you. In the Gospel today Jesus tells us to love not to hate. You might or might not have an enemy in your life but if you do just say to them have a nice day or just be kind like Jesus said To the person who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other one as well. Dont be mean back just be kind. God bless
Something i got from this is that we all sin, we all have had the sins of lust, envy, gluttony, pride, wrath, sloth, and greed. even tho we have sinned more times than we can couont all of us it doenst matter, i does but like Jesus will still love you no matter who you are. does this mean go and be a horrible peron no. it js means its okay to mess up we all do it. but it doesnt mean to purposefully mess up when you know you shouldnt be messing up
“Stop judging and you will not be judged.” Jesus was trying to tell us that if we treat someone how we would like to be treated even if they don’t treat us that way back we are doing the best we can do. We have to be able to not be mad at people forever and just treat them how we would like to be treated. Nobody is perfect so we need to forgive and and be able to accept aplogize and just move on from it.
But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back. This stood out to me because it shows me that we should not do things and expect repayment. Instead we should do things willingly and not expect anything back because all of it will be repaid in heaven. We should always be nice even to the people who treat you bad. For everything you do will be returned to you in great measure.
In this Gospel, it tells us how you should love your enemies. It says that if you hate, you will be hated. It is basically telling us that if you do something bad you will have that done to you. He compares us to sinners. He says that sinners love but they don’t love their enemies and that we shouldn’t be like them.
In today’s Gospel God tells us to love our enemies. Even if you have been wronged it doesn’t mean you do wrong to them. Instead you do the right thing and walk away from the situation. If we keep a grudge against our enemies instead of trying to patch it, we will forever have hatred without knowing the real situation.
In today’s gospel it talks about God really being the only judge that we need in our lives. We don’t need or friends, teachers, parents, or families to rely on we can only rely on ourselves and God the father. We are called by the Father for us to recognize the love and mercy God the father has done for us and we need to thank him daily about that because our sins killed him, but he willingly took it and showed love for us even on the cross where he took his finale breaths at.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” This reminds me of a saying my grandma always used to say and still does say, ‘Treat others they way you want to be treated, or whatever you do comes back to you multiplied by two or twenty-two,’ meaning that if you treat others well and with respect, they will do likewise and God will see that and your heavenly reward will be multiplied. it also goes the other way, if you treat everyone you meet with hatred they will treat you the same, and instead of a heavenly reward, could theoretically get a longer time in hell.
In today’s Gospel, God tells us to love our enemies, especially the ones where we hold a grudge against them. He also tells us to love others as you want to be loved, or treat others well as you want to be treated well. If we start to love and forgive our enemies, slowly but surely they’ll come to you and love you back. Why hold a grudge for so long with your enemies, possibly costing your reputation or materials, when you could forgive and love them back—it’s free and will do you good in the future.
Likewise for our love of God. He has given us everything—our life, family, materials, school, grace, the sacraments—and yet we barely give anything in return, like Cain. We can sacrifice our time to spend time with God, and in return he’ll answer our prayers and give us something better in return.
I think today in the Gospel God is telling me that I need to give people what they need when they ask for it, expect to have nothing in return, and to be nice to everyone, even those who aren’t very nice to me.
In today ´ s Gospel Jesus is talking about in eye
for in eye what that means if you do good things
good things will come back to you so if you
forgive you will be forgiven . we shall also love are
enemies and most people ask God but why should
I love my enemies why i think you should love your
enemies is what if they don´t have anybody to love
them.
The Gospel today talks about how we should love our neighbor. when thinking of this quote I once heard that “Nobody knew who was going to betray Jesus because He loved him none the less than the others.
This gospel today shows that we are all humans and what our main purpose is here on Earth. This to me is the most important Gospel out of the entirety of gospels. Because this is how I try to live my life everyday and I wish that everyone else would too. This to me is being a Saint you don’t expect anything from your good works. The gift you get in return is the gift of Christ and eternity in heaven. But at the same time you can’t of something and then say “ok God where is my reward?” no, you don’t expect anything you have to be patient because your time will come and if you follow these rules stated today you will see.
the main lesson I was getting from this that we many do what ever we want cause that is the free choice God gives us but we must follow gods rules for example the 10 commandments these are the best example of Gods rules we should follow and if we break some of these rules Jesus is so generous that he gives us confession the Eucharist and repentance to make up for what we have done this shows how generous and loving God is he will love us longer than the very end of time.
” To you who hear what I say, love your enemies.” This shows us that even people who we may not like still deserve to be treated with kindness and respect.
In today’s gospel we are told to love our enemies. I think we are being told that if someone is mean to you don’t retaliate instead return peace and love. My mom always told us when we were little that you don’t have to like everyone but you still have to be kind to them and I think that’s kind of what God is trying to tell us as well in today’s gospel.
Always love other even if they sin agiants you you should forgives but not always forget becaus eforget is much harder to froget but always love your neibor so you will be giving mercy in the final judgment
The part of this scripture that stuck out to me was the part when Jesus said “Stop judging and you will not be judged.” I think that this applies to a lot of peoples lives because the human nature is to compare ourselves to others. I think that if everyone stopped judging others for unimportant things that the world would be a nicer and overall a better place.
I agree, but it is difficult. We sometimes do it without even thinking. It takes time to learn the importance of not judging and labeling.
the message that came to mind today when I was reading the gospel was that no matter what someone does to you be kind. as Jesus said in a scripture matthew 5:39 “If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also”. he teaches us that violence is never the answer. we should be loving all the time.
When people are having a bad day and taking it out on others, or even just being rude, it is not Right to be rude back. Being nice to them may help with the situation, or even just letting them know that they can’t get to you. If someone makes a mistake you should forgive them just like Jesus did, even when he didn’t want to.
“Love your enemies.” As Jesus was tortured and laughed at, he prayed for the people who were hurting him. God calls us to not just love those who love us, but to love someone who does evil or hurts you. “But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend expecting nothing back, then your reward will be great.”
Something that stuck out to me in the gospel was “Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven”. We need to forgive others for what they have done so God and others can forgive us. We shall not judge others because we walk imperfectly as well. A Bible verse I like about forgiveness is Luke 23:34 and a Bible verse I like about judging is Matthew 7:1-2.
Cruz, this reflection is impressive. I am excited and looking forward to reading your future reflections.
In the Gospel today, I think that Jesus wants us to and love our enemies. Not just the people we talk told or our friends but the people who you might not talk to anymore or at all. He wants us to love EVERYONE, including ourselves.
the phrase that stuck out to me was “from the person who takes your cloak,
do not withhold even your tunic.” I have no idea why this stuck out to me so much but it was the first thing I could recall when thinking about what I remember reading, but I think God is trying to tell me specifically that if someone takes something of mine, that I should just let them have it and if there is 2 parts or even 3, to give that to them as well.
In today’s gospel, Jesus is telling us that when we give, not to expect ANYTHING back. If we do, then we are like the sinners. When we give to others and expect nothing in return, then our reward will be great in heaven.
In today’s gospel I think we should care for other people. We should love our neighbors and enemies. We should stop judging people and to spend more time with God.
“Stop judging and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and gifts will be given to you;
a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing,
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in return be measured out to you.” This is telling you that if your kind people will be kind back to you.
“To you who hear I say, love your enemies,” I think that means be kind to people who hurt you like if they were mean to you or talked bad about you. That you have to forgive them and not judge them after they have been mean and do not gossip about them to other people. I also think the scripture told me to never judge people if they have judged you or never talk bad about someone even if they talk bad about them and if they say sorry than forgive them but it might take some time.
it reminds me about the time my grandma told me about that for calling my brother dumb, stupid or some other stuff want every it is that is here favorite phrase to say. she always say when the people spit on Jesus. Jesus didn’t fight he just turned his cheek and let them spit on the other one.
PS, I find this ironic because sometimes she is yelling it while spitting at me because, she is welling too much or something.
“To you who hear I say, love your enemies,do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you.” When I hear this it means to me that you have to be the better person and let it go.

Jesus said to his disciples: “To you who hear I say, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you,
pray for those who mistreat you. I think he’s saying to be kind to others no matter if they hurt you or mistreat you. You should love others like you love Jesus and like He loves you.
