“THEY ALL ATE AND WERE SATISFIED.” MK 6:34-44
Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Prayer Prompt before reading MK 6:34-44: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.
St. John teaches us today that God is love. We are the only religion in the world that believes God IS love. Other religions believe God loves. God can’t stop loving you, it’s against His nature. This is why Jesus proclaimed, “Love your enemies!” A radical statement, but true for a God who cannot not love for this is his very being.
This has been revolutionary in my life in the last few years! I have to thank Sr. Maria Jacinta in her work helping young people who are struggling with the sin of lust. Love is willing the good of the other and doing something about it. God is love. God ALWAYS wills our good.
When we doubt that, Satan is attacking us. Think about when you started to doubt God loved you. For me it is after falling into the same sin multiple times or the sin of lust can be difficult because it makes me feel shameful and embarrassed in the worst way. It makes me feel distant from God or that there is no way He could love me.
God is love. No matter how many times you sin or whether it is a serious sin, God still loves you. This is the revolutionary message of Jesus Christ in founding Christianity: You are loved right now just the way you are. God is love. He just loves you. You are His the one! He chose you. He called you by name. You are loved! God does not want to change you, but He does want you to live in freedom. God always loves. God always sacrifices because that is what love does.
Therefore, God is always full of joy. Finally, God has given us a way back to Him, his Son. If you are sick and tired of being chained to sin, begin the battle against Satan and your fallen human nature, with filling yourself up with God’s life, His grace. Come to His mercy, be free, and dig in.
Begin a daily habit of prayer. Carve out 15 minutes to say your rosary every day (Ascension has Rosary in a year happening right now!). Make it happen and don’t give up on yourself or God. Face yourself so you can face God. The only way God cannot work in your life is if you do not allow Him to. He will always love you! Don’t allow Satan to snatch your soul or steal your faith! Put up a fight to the end!
God loves those who do not love Him or have chosen not to believe in Him. This is important to live in our own lives in our relationships. Jesus teaches us what love is and how to love. I hope this brings peace to you. The God-Man, Jesus, is love in the Gospel today, “When Jesus saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd.” If you choose love, you will “eat and be satisfied”.
Jesus always chooses you. God is beyond generosity. Whether you are good or bad, His love and grace are always available to you. He loves you even if you don’t love Him back. He is faithful even when you are unfaithful. He loves you even when you hurt Him by sinning and injuring your relationship with Him. “We killed God with our sins and He came back with loving forgiveness.” -Bishop Barron
Love is a decision. Love your parents even if they are not perfect. Love your brothers and sisters even though they annoy you. Love your friends even if they hurt you. Love your spouse even if they offend you. Most importantly, love God with your whole heart, soul, mind, and strength and your neighbor as yourself.
The whole entire law hangs on these two great commandments. How can we not love a God who loves us this much? God’s love is radical for you, will you accept it? It is scary, but don’t we all enjoy some adventure in our lives? Take a spiritual risk and listen to Jesus tell you every day, “Be not afraid! I am with you every day to the end of time.”
“Love until it hurts.”-St. Mother Teresa
Today’s challenge: Come to Jesus, for his heart is moved with pity for you, a poor sinner. Think about others before yourself all throughout the day. Do a random act of kindness.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
