“FOR IT WILL NOT BE YOU WHO SPEAK BUT THE SPIRIT OF YOUR FATHER SPEAKING THROUGH YOU.” MT 10:16-23

Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Prayer Prompt before reading MT 10:16-23: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and Son are so I may know the Truth about who I am.

As I continue to read the Scriptures and reflect on them, I have learned something very important. I have learned there is great power in asking the Spirit of the Father (Holy Spirit) to guide me before I read the Scriptures to help me understand how much God loves us and how badly Christ desires for us to be in heaven with the Father.

I have come to know I am a great sinner and do not have the highest education in theology. There are many things I do not know. Before I read the Scriptures, I ask the Holy Spirit to bring to fruition wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the Scriptures. Then, before I write, I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me.

I also research knowledge of the doctrine of our faith (Catechism of the Catholic Faith or YouCat) and read Scripture scholars reflections in the side notes of my Bible. I find spiritual books to help me pray, to teach me more about God, and grow my relationship with Jesus.

The key to all of it is after reading sitting in silence and listening allowing Christ to speak to you through the Spirit. I have found great reward (fell in love with my Savior and learned how much Our Father loves me) in reflecting and listening in the silence and journaling those thoughts.

The power of the Holy Spirit is active and alive. Invite the Holy Spirit into your day. It is Christ’s Spirit in your heart. Pray daily to the Holy Spirit asking for guidance. Your prayers and reflections will be turned into action knowing your are doing the Father’s Will. This is the purpose of the Holy Spirit. As you continue to be formed as a young person, keep the Holy Spirit close. When it is time to put your formation into action, the Holy Spirit will guide you to do the Father’s Will and you will be filled with joy.

Today, Jesus claims something very odd. He will be the reason for many divisions even among those in families. The point is that we are the closest to our families. Jesus said His Words and mission are so important that they will even cause divisions in families. Jesus is more important than our families. This is a bold statement.

One of the keys to getting to the Kingdom is making Christ the center of your life. He must come before family, friends, material goods, and our desires of the flesh. His love and desire for you to enter heaven is greater than all of these. That is some powerful love!

We have been warned, if we listen to Christ’s Word and allow it to transform you with the Eucharist, it could cause division in your life even with those you are closest to. He warns you will be persecuted. It is amazing to me how many Christians have been persecuted over the last 2000 years. Proof of Jesus’s warning today.

Do you want to compete? Do you want to try and fight a battle that is very hard to win? Do you want to be challenged? Are you ready to strap on the armor of God? Make Christ the center of your life and hang on!

Today’s challenge: Make it a habit to pray to the Father and ask Him to send His Spirit upon you before you embark upon the Scriptures and daily tasks. Also ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to the Father and Son and bring you into their presence during prayer, the ultimate goal of worship.

Be a servant, be a saint today!
