“Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” LK 11:47-54
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Today, Jesus presents the Pharisees as those who insidiously lead others astray through their seeming attention to the law. Often I find myself pointing out everyone else’s faults, but miss my own. I also can be really strict about holding other’s accountable to follow the rules, but don’t follow them myself sometimes. I believe all of us sometimes worry more about the law more than loving others. We all can make the mistake of being like the Pharisees.
The point Jesus is trying to make to the Pharisees is that they are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life, to love. He is love straight through and this is what we will be surrounded with and filled up with in the spiritual realm, our heavenly homeland. We have been given an earthly body with a spirit, to love with our bodies, our actions and words. Our bodies are driven by the Spirit.
He made us to have compassion (suffer with) on others, to forgive, to take care of the less fortunate, and to love even if people don’t deserve it. This is what matters on judgment day, how much did you glorify the Father with your life. This in turn glorifies you and others see you as an other-Christ!
Today’s challenge: Don’t get too caught up in sin and rules, although these are important to keep order, the most important thing we can do is love, to give yourself away to another, a self-gift. The crazy backwards thing about it is when you give yourself away you become full of joy!
Be a servant, be a saint today!
#Christian YOLO
The Pharisees is that they are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life, to love.
This stood out to me because I think that we are called to love others as much as they love us and also just love everyone and anyone. God gave us this gift to love and we aren’t using it, that’s just a waste of God’s time and our time.
Jesus’s mercy is unfair. He loves us no matter what. you could kill someone and Jesus would still love you. Jesus loves us through and through. And he wants us to go to Heaven
The Pharisees were known for praying loudly in public places, bragging about how good they are about praying. Jesus tells them that they are missing the whole point, and because of this, they will not make it into the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is telling us not to miss the whole point. It doesn’t matter how you pray, it matters what your intention is. Jesus wants everyone to follow him, and not get distracted by worldly things. He doesn’t want us to be perfect, but wants to help us.
In today’s gospel the Lord tells the phrases they will not make it to heaven because they do not truly care for the poor for the poor is outside the gates and you don’t let them in. Your father’s have killed and you proclaim it tell why you sure be aloud to enter the kingdom of heaven for you are not worthy of the heavens for you do not care for the poor who ask.
In todays Gospel these words stuck out to me “blood of all the prophets
shed since the foundation of the world” I do not know why these words
stuck out to me they just did and I think it has something to do with the
Foundation of the world which is Gods Creation.
I think that Jesus is trying to tell us that don’t let people stop you from praising the Lord and stuff like that. THat God will always be with you no matter what.
In today’s gospel it says that we need to not get caught up in rules, I think that this means that if we know something is wrong don’t do it, you can do the wrong thing and be right and holy, if it feels right and you think that God is trying to tell you to do something you have to listen to him. We all have to trust that God is good and that He will lead us to being a good son or daughter.
The Lord forgives everyone knows that. No matter what we did he will forgive us. People forget that we can’t just keep going back to him because we know he will forgive us. We can’t keep sinning because we know we will just go back to confession. Then when Jesus comes back the people that did that don’t know what is coming for them. You can’t live with that mindset.
Often I find myself pointing out everyone else’s faults, but miss my own. Stuck out to me because its true we are all so worried about everyone else wrongs we forget about what we have done it is important to recognize what mistakes we make in our daily lives instead of others mistakes.
Jesus in this Gospel is eating with the pharisees and telling them that they will not make it to the kingdom of Heaven. That they need to change their ways and give to the poor and feed the hungry. Then if they do that they have a chance to make it into Heaven where God is.
Today something that sticks out to me is that Jesus is interrogated and treated with hostility after he had said basically that they weren’t going to heaven. This sticks out to me today because they saw him do miracles. They are so caught up in their ways that they can’t even realize the son of God is the son of God. They are trying to interrogate him after everything he says seeing if they can maybe catch him slip up and try to prove that he is not the Son of God. This is just crazy to me. But in this day and age I would say some people might do the same. They would be too stuck in their lives and how important their material goods are to them that they wouldn’t be able to realize and open their eyes to God.
Its todays scripture it says “He is love straight through and this is what we will be surrounded with and filled up with in the spiritual realm” we are not realizeing what hes saying, He made us to have compassion (suffer with) on others, to forgive, to take care of the less fortunate and that even u should pray for your enimies.
“this generation will be charged with their blood” to me this is more than a quote it is the truth of the lord,we are all changing in the ways we want to change not the ways God wants us to change we are God’s children we are brothers and sisters to Jesus we need to change in the way GOD wants us to change not the way WE want to change,“Woe to you who build the memorials”
in the gospel it says that we don’t have to worry about all the rules, I think that this means that we all always have to do the right thing and that doesn’t always mean doing the right thing for the law or what the coach said, it is our life with God, We need to trust Him in all ways and once we do then we will become better sons and daughters of the Lord.
Today in the Gospel it talks about the pharisees. In the reflection it talks about how we judge others but we don’t judge ourselves when we do something wrong. Everybody needs to get better at this because I think that it is just natural for us to think this way. Sometimes when we play a football game and the play is not good and I blame it on the other people for the play not being good. Even if the ball doesn’t get thrown to me I still have to do my job on that play and I need to get better at that.
Something that I got out of this was that Jesus does not try to say things nicely if it is a fact, if we are doing something that we are not supposed to be doing, than he will tell us, and even though we might not appreciate it in the moment later on in our life we will realize how much that will help us out, and we should always strive to understand what God is trying to say, yet so many ignore it, because if it is not exactly what us humans want to do than we will not do it, and we should realize that Gods ways are not are ways, and that he knows what is going to happen in our life, and we don’t, we have to realize that he was the one that made the humongous mountains, and the soaring sky, and if we trust in him, the greatest creator, than we will not have to worry about getting into heaven, because we have a personal relationship with the creator
Simon, I love your reflections. You see things others don’t. Good job!
Today’s Gospel is about how we are sometimes too focused on what others are doing than what we are doing. Instead of focusing on what God really put us on the earth for ,to love others, the Pharisees focus on the laws instead of love. Like how sometimes we are to focused on what others are doing wrong instead of what we need to do to get into heaven
“You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.”
Even if this has a different meaning in this Gospel, It stuck out to me as if saying, When your as sinner and do bad things, you don’t have to bring others with you. Sometimes people take there feelings and pass it on others. Like if you were angry you make your friend mad by your negative attitude. Or if you want to do bad things like stealing for example, and try to make your friend do it with you, your keeping them from Heaven as well as yourself.
This reminds me of the Chosen when Jesus was proclaiming the truth, he said you all know that we are sons of God but you deny me from saying it. Christian persecution is crucial, all the martyrs have been killed in torture, trying to get them to say that God is not real. In the Bible it is said that they build memorials of prophets, but their ancestors were the ones who killed them. We can say we did good things, we can hide the fact that we did bad things, we can run away from the fact that we are sinners but in the end. God always knows what you did. Jesus called them out in the Bible, you can say that you didn’t kill them but you were the ones doing the killing because you never said no or you said yes. How many times that we haven’y accepted the fact that we are sinners and that we aren’t perfect. There is someone who wants you, someone who will give you mercy and forgiveness for all of your sins. He knows what we did before that we killed that relationship with God by killing others, stealing, lying, ignoring him. He knows what we did. We all just keep running away from it. HE KNOWS!!! He knows everything that we have done, we have hurt others in the ways our father doesn’t want us too. So let us ask forgiveness for our sins and ask for mercy and grace for everything that we have done. Jesus will pay that price of taking those sins and demons to the foot of the cross where they will die, we just need to believe in Jesus.
Christian, I love your humility, honesty, and ability at your age to be vulnerable to God’s Truths. You are wise beyond your years because you allow God to work in your life! I am very proud of you.
In the Gospel today, Jesus tells the Pharisees that they are leading people astray. We shouldn’t judge people and point out everything that they are doing wrong, we need to show love and care for them. We need to love people the way Jesus would have and you can find out how he did that by reading the Gospels. Jesus sacrificed himself for us instead of scolding us for everything we did wrong. Jesus uses parables and miracles to show that He will love us no matter what and all He wants is to be with us in heaven, we just have to live our lives for God, listen and follow His words, and love Him back.
Today God gives us a challenge. He wants us to love one another. We can act like the Pharisees sometimes, God gave our bodies to love one another and act like the Lord. If we love like Jesus did we will become full of joy and happiness.
“He made us to have compassion (suffer with) on others, to forgive, to take care of the less fortunate, and to love even if people don’t deserve it. This is what matters on judgment day, how much did you glorify the Father with your life. ” Today God is telling me that I should always love others even when I don’t feel like it, just like He loves us. We should always try our best to be polite, kind, caring, and all of those type of things. God really loves us and wants us to go down the right path instead of the wrong, when we get really lost He can usually send a person to come into our lives and help us, trust me its all apart of God’s plan in the end. You might wonder why does He even put me through all of this suffering, but its for a reason, to shape you up into the person you are today. Yea we aren’t ever gonna be even close to perfect, but in His eyes we are the most perfect and precious things ever. He puts you through the suffering because the path to Heaven is gonna feel like hell, but the path to hell is gonna feel like Heaven. Even if we do make mistakes that doesn’t mean that He is gonna stop caring for us, but instead He hopes that you ask for forgiveness and try to change into a better person by going to Mass, going to adoration, or even just praying at home. I can admit that I don’t do all of those things as often as I should be, and I miss out on Mass every now and then, but still you should at least try. God is doing all of this for a reason, trust in the Lord for He is good, and treat others how you want to be treated, treat others like their a fragile vase or a piece of notebook paper. Be careful with what you do and say, people might hurt you but that doesn’t give you a reason to hurt them, like Jesus, when He died do you think it was easy for Him? The answer is no, it wasn’t, and its not easy for anyone not even Him. People hurt Him, they didn’t care though, but He always smiled and gave them this warming sensation. Be grateful that someone that powerful loves you so so much and more than you can ever imagine. Always remember to be Christ-like
I appreciate your humility and honesty! My prayers are always with you and your classmates!
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that some of us will not be as good as others but as long as we believe in God and go to confession we will get to the Kingdom of God
God was telling me to forgive everyone and to not hold anything against someone.
In today’s Gospel God is trying to tell us to not brag and pretend that you’re the best but to be humble and have humility. He also says that you won’t make it if you pretend to love Him.
This scripture is telling me that we don’t give God alot of credit. We should really give God credit. I mean he was nailed on a cross for hours! And that’s not enough? Thats way much more we need! We should give God more credit. Lets submit to him and praise him.
Today Jesus is with the scribes and the Pharisees and he says that they won’t make it to the kingdom of heaven. They get very angry at Jesus and they were plotting to catch him at something he might say.
In this Jesus is trying to tell us that we should never forget why God made us and why we are here!! something that stuck out to me was “Pharisees is that they are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life, to love.” we need to LOVE God and to love others, forgive others love them, LOVE your enemies just LOVE everyone even if you don’t like them.
I think Jesus is telling us that we need to listen to God’s word. The people in the story today just turned their backs to the word of God. We should not be like them. If we follow God’s will and not our own we can have a reward in heaven. However, if we are like the Pharisees in the Gospel today we will not have eternal life. Remember it is “Thy will be done” not “My will be done”.
I think it was saying to listen to not sin or the rules but to listen to yourself and do what your mind is saying and what God says to your heart. Always follow God with your howl mind, heart, and soul!.!.
Something that I liked when I was reading this is that God made us to suffer take care of the less fortunate and love one another. God made us to Love not to bring each other down and also another thing that I liked when I read this is that God says don’t be the Pharisees who basically point ourt peoples mistakes but don’t ever point out their mistakes. Sometimes I feel like I do this I point out many peoples mistakes but really I’m being a hipocrit because I make mistakes too and sin everyday just like them. God is a ultimate being who has never sinned, died for us so we can love him and be with him. God Saved us SO WE CAN LOVE.
that Jesus loves us so much he gave us life to love him. He made us to have compassion on others, to forgive, to take care of the less fortunate, and to love even if people don’t deserve it. And that The point Jesus was trying to make to the Pharisees is that they are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life is to love and nothing more, to have care for your neighbors as Jesus did with us.
In todays gospel ,God tells me . He wants us to love everybody.
Gods mercy is unending like an ocean and we are like a pebble. No matter what we do God will still love us as we are children of God. We are like the lost sheep and he is the shepherd calling us home. He loves us and he wants us to love him to. He wants our heart and he wants to fill us with his love and his grace. He wants us to follow him so that we can meet him in the kingdom of Heaven.
In todays Gospel what stuck out to me is that they started to interrogate Jesus and started to have hostiltly towards him and that they missed why God let us live and you have to be grateful for what he gives you.
Something God is telling us is that we shall come before Jesus and the Lord and tell him out sins he knows our sins but you just have to tell him it will help with that relationship with him. But God will always love you until the end of time for your will shall be done to you. The lord loves you so you love him. Amen
“Often I find myself pointing out everyone else’s faults, but miss my own.” I feel like… I don’t know it just… it really stuck out to me, you know? It’s really hard not to point out others and then not correct yourself for you are never perfect and nobody else is. So don’t go pointing fingers and saying it was their fault or that this person was doing it wrong etc. I feel that when your with God in his presence you feel like you need to be good and not judge people and i’m sometimes that way but… I like when I do that I feel like i’m sick or I don’t know I just get this weird feeling you know? And it’s just strange. I feel like he’s telling me to focus on what people do good and not what they do to mess up. Like He wants us to love everybody just the way they are instead of judging them and then saying that’s the only way we’re ever going to be friends.
something that stood out to me in today’s gospel is “the point Jesus is trying to make to the Pharisees is that they are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life” God gave us life because he loves us.
in order that this generation might be charged
with the blood of all the prophets
shed since the foundation of the world,
from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah
“Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” What that means to me is that we shouldn’t keep our knowledge to ourselves. But share it with others and profess it to others that don’t know anything about Jesus. That’s what I think stood out to me in this reflection.
If you pretend to love God, you will not make it to Heaven. Today in the Gospel, Jesus was straight up and honest with them! If you pretend or you brag or anything like that, it is hurting God. So, today lets make God Happy!!!
“Don’t get too caught up in sin and rules, although these are important to keep order, the most important thing we can do is love”. this stuck out to me because we may try our best to not sin but the thing that most of us forget about is to love each other, try not to think down on each other.
I think what God is trying to tell me today is that we should always focus on ourselves first before anyone else. For example if we tell someone not to do something bad we can’t just tell them that just to do it ourselves. God tells us that we must not point out other people’s flaws but focus on our own first instead of judging someone.
God gave us life and we are so loved by Him. Another thing that stood out to me was this ” We have been given an earthly body with a Spirit, to love with our bodies, our actions and words. Our bodies are driven by the Holy Spirit.” God gave us life and our own bodies to live in so we should be the most blessed and take care of our bodies.
In today’s gospel, what stood out to me was that instead of truly loving God and being humble in His presence, the pharisees prayed aloud in public and bragged about how they were holy to everyone else. This is not an act of humbleness and is not something that is Christlike. Someone who truly loves the Lord would not act the way the pharisees did. Jesus told them that they were missing the point. They just wanted to look like they were humble followers of God, but they were not truly loving. They were not humble. They wanted to look good from a social standpoint, but not good spiritually. The lesson I can learn from this today is that I need to truly love God, not act like I do because I want to be remembered as a “humble follower of God,” but love him because I want to go to Heaven.
I think in today’s gospel God is telling us that our ancestors took away life from the prophets and Apostles, and we must repent for them. He also is telling us not to miss the purpose of life, you need to go to Mass, and do not tell others that they cannot go to Mass.
I see this as following the ten commandments. You will have to follow the ten commandments to get to heaven. Heaven is a great place so you should strive to get there. This generation of ours we can struggle, with it being depression, social media, getting bullied theres many things of this time that are not great. Think of the good things and move on. You can do it it just focus on getting to heaven.
GOD= #1 (=
God gave us life because he loves us. Without love we are nothing. God’s love and mercy is so powerful and strong that it can overcome anything. We should show compassion and love to each other, instead of judging people for their mistakes in the past or present. I feel he’s telling me to highlight the good things people do and don’t focus as much on all the negative things.
I gather from that gospel that the pharisees are very bad on the inside and they won’t go to heaven unless you stop what you are doing, but the pharisees went even further as to see if they can trick him .
I think that today, Jesus is telling us that through Him and him only, can you enter the Kingdom of Heaven. When Jesus left, the scribes and Pharisees began plotting hostile things against him. This shows that they did not have faith in the Kingdom of Heaven. I realize that it is hard to see and actually believe in the Gospel. But in order to get to heaven, we must give ourselves fully to Jesus and realize that he is the one we want to devote our lives to! Not to Earthly and worldly objects that will not go to Heaven with us, but something that would stay with us forever, and something that we totally believe in. Jesus and God along with all of the Saints are all just trying to encourage us to do the right thing to get to Heaven. So we are the ones who just have to get up and out of our ways to listen.
In the scripture reflection it says “we can all make the mistake of being like the pharisees” we can all miss God and how much he loves us through so many different things and we should try to fix this.
In today’s Gospel I think that Jesus was trying to make a point to the Pharisees. The Pharisees would not understand why they are living. God created them and they didn’t believe that.
“Often I find myself pointing out everyone else’s faults, but miss my own.” Everyone is always so quick to point out others faults but never their own faults. God sees the good in everyone, people need to start seeing the good in others and in themselves. God made us to go and do good, not to go seek all the bad of others. I think God is telling me that people are much more then their faults.
We need to love and not hate. We need to forgive and not hold any grudges. We need to follow the commandments. We need to not sin but pray.
I think God is telling me that don’t bow down to those that persecute you but to also at the same time not be a hypocrite about by then persecuting them asell because we must try to believe in God no matter what challenge is in front of us but to also then love the person that tries to take you away from that love.
To teach about God we must first know God Himself. If we don’t we can give others the wrong info and end up leading them farther astray like the Pharisees. We must also be open to hearing what he has to say on what to and not to preach.
I think that what God is trying to tell us is that we need to be just understanding of others situatons not everybody is experincing what you are excperencing so just be understanding.
In today’s Gospel I think that Jesus was trying to make a point to the Pharisees.Jesus tells them that they are missing the whole point, and because of this, they will not make it into the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is telling us not to miss the whole point. It doesn’t matter how you pray, it matters what your intention is.As long as you take prayer serious and you take the time to talk to God.
“He made us to have compassion (suffer with) on others, to forgive, to take care of the less fortunate, and to love even if people don’t deserve it. This is what matters on judgment day, how much did you glorify the Father with your life. ” This stuck out to me because, it
is telling me that even though someone may be rude to you, or always hurts you even though you dont hurt them back, always love them. It is hard, I had to love my enemies and it was hard, but just think fo what God did for us? HE forgave US even whyen we turn on him almost every day!
Jesus is trying to tell us not to judge everyone else’s faults but look at your own. We are supposed to love not to tear people down. We are suppose to show compassion to people even if they don’t deserve it.
“Don’t get too caught up in sin and rules, although these are important to keep order, the most important thing we can do is love, to give yourself away to another, a self-gift.”This stuck out to me because rules and the commandments are really important but you dont always have to follow little tiny rules cause sometimes you might break those rules but dont break the commandments cause god made those and we should follow them so we can get to heaven.
In the scripture today I think the lard is telling us that we should care for everyone even if we don’t like them. He tells us that we should care for the poor and the helpless as we should help them, and even if we do something not good Jesus will always forgives us so that we can live in heaven with him.
I think we often focus on trying to correct others and make others do the right thing, instead of worrying about our own self. We often see the worst in everyone and ourselves. God sees the good in everyone, not just that one person, we want to be like or who we think is “perfect,” He sees the good in everyone. So we need to start seeing the good in everyone including ourselves.
in today’s Gospel I think that Jesus is saying that why do you rebuild what is already torn down this statement really stumps you it causes you to rethink what you have already thought it makes you want to stop and think about how you have done what this quote tells us not to do we all are creatures of habit and so that’s why we go back to sin why would we go back to it its horrible but the habit kicks in and we dont think which is why we need Jesus he helps us to remember what we need to do.
Something that stuck out to me was. “Often I find myself pointing out everyone else’s faults, but miss my own.” This stuck out to me because its saying that we point out what other do but not what we do. Instead of judging what others do we should pay attention to what we are doing.
In today’s gospel, Jesus says that the future generation has the blood of the prophets in them and that they are capable of great things. He also tells the scholars and pharisees that they have taken away the key of knowledge. I think that what Jesus means, is that we are the sons and daughters of the prophets and We can do amazing things for the Lord if we try.
Often I find myself pointing out everyone else’s faults, but miss my own. I only do this when it is my family and close friends. I am too worried about what others are doing. I see they do something wrong then it is the end of the world. If I do something It is okay for me to make a mistake. I have tried to know if what I am doing is right before correcting someone else. I have gotten better and also it has made me more patient with others.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus talks to the Scribes and Pharisees. He told them that they don’t understand the meaning of life. We should be able to love others instead of bringing them down by being rude to them or talking behind our backs. God will always love us, even if we commit one of the most serious sins ever. God will still forgive us even if we kill someone. We just have to apologize to God and he will forgive us. We are here to love others and to bring them to Heaven with us so that all of us can have Eternal Life
Jesus was with the scribes and Pharisees and they were acting hostile to Jesus and they were plotting against him. We should never plot against Jesus.
What I got from the gospel is that God’s love is unconditional and will always love us. However we still need to try. This doesn’t mean praying like the Pharisees did though. It all depends on our intentions. Yes the Pharisees were very public about them praying, but does that mean they had good intentions for it? No. They could have been doing it for attention. This is why we need to pray and love but do it for the right intentions.
“When Jesus left, the scribes and Pharisees began to act with hostility toward him and to interrogate him about many things, for they were plotting to catch him like him, at something he might say.”I think this means that the pharisees were talking bad about Jesus. They didn’t like him so they didn’t want anyone else to like him. We can do that sometimes too, so we need to be careful about what we say and do.
“Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” Some of the scholars of the law have a lot of knowledge about how they should act, but some of them were not acting correctly even though they knew how they should. Jesus pointed that out, instead of listening to Jesus the Scholars began plotting against him. I think today’s gospel is telling people that they should not act like the people who plotted against Jesus. The people plotting against Jesus should have been trying to better themselves.
I think God is telling us to spread the gospel and start praying ourselves. If we don’t spread the gospel we can make some people not go to heaven because they worship the devil. If we dont pray and believe in God we cant go to heaven.
This gospel shows Jesus and the pharisees. The pharisees think that they are all-powerful and have so much pride. They only think about others. What Jesus is trying to state is to worry about others and yourself. As humans, we love to compare ourselves to others, but we never really humble ourselves. We want power. Power isn’t everything though, since God is everything. His love and His mercy are what will get us into eternal life.
Today, Jesus presents the Pharisees as those who insidiously lead others astray through their seeming attention to the law. Often I find myself pointing out everyone else’s faults, but miss my own. The point Jesus is trying to make to the Pharisees is that they are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life, to love. He is love straight through and this is what we will be surrounded with and filled up with in the spiritual realm, our heavenly homeland. We need to believe in God. God’s way is much better than our way so we need to trust in him to be able to live to our fullest extent. We need God for our own safety against the devil.
Jesus loves us no matter what we do. Even if we do the worst sin possible he will still love us.
the Pharisees are trying to stump Jesus but they can’t and they aren’t liking it at all.
Jesus is also trying to chew them out for killing the prophets.
Something that i took away from this scripture is that i am always noticing other peoples faults, but never my own. in my head i always catch my self judging others, but i need to stop and think, everybody is different, and we all make mistakes and do things that others might find wierd. everybody has embarrased themselves before, and we need to remember that we all have out own faults and dont be quick to judge.
In the Gospel today I think Jesus was telling me that I shouldn’t stop others from doing the right thing and I shouldn’t frown upon what is right and what is true because others don’t think it’s “cool”. To be honest, I think that hinders my relationship with Jesus quite a bit actually but more in the sense that I choose to not do the right thing sometimes because of what others will say or think. So in this Gospel Jesus says to never stop anyone from entering heaven and I think that includes yourself. Don’t hinder yourself from going to Heaven just because you’re afraid of what others will think. Jesus is worth everything you’re afraid of losing. <3
The point Jesus is trying to make to the Pharisees is that they are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life, to love. This really stuck out to me because the Pharisees are lost. They don’t know God, they are missing the point of what God’s whole purpose is. I think in a way that is us. Sometimes we can let the devil choose what we do and not think. We are like the Pharisees.
I am getting, from today’s gospel, that he see others’ faults before we even think of ours. We all need to learn and grow from this. How can we be mad at someone who didn’t execute something perfectly when we ourselves can’t do it flawlessly either? We need to understand that everyone is human and we all deserve the same love and respect as the other.
Jesus tells the Pharisees they are leading people astray. It was to be their job to keep the law and to help the Jews to obey them. They instead put too much stock on the physical side of things and not the spiritual side. We need to follow Jesus the right way.
“You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” Jesus is telling me today to look at my own flaws not those of others. To take the wooden beam out of my own eye, but not the splinter out of others eyes. We need to change ourselves before we change other people. If we are not changed then we are being hypocrites trying to tell other people what they do wrong. Therefore, look at the flaws of your own heart and change the way you live before you change others.
the scripture is telling me to recognize my own flaws before pointing out others. It is easy for us to judge others and point out their flaws instead of pointing out our own, but we need to remember that God knows all of our flaws and everything about us, yet still loves us. We must follow his example and love others as he has loved us no matter the flaws in others.
“for they were plotting to catch him at something he might say.” A lot of times in the Bible when Jesus is explaining his teachings or telling people what to do to get to heaven, they try to get him to trip up or make a mistake. Jesus knows what he is talking about, so when He tells us something, it is best if we just listen. We are free to ponder, and wrestle with the meaning but Jesus knows what he is doing.
I think today’s gospel is similar to the story about why we pluck out the splinter in our brother’s eye and ignore the wooden beam in our own. Jesus is telling us that if we expect anything, we should first give it. “Woe to you, scholars of the law! You have taken away the key of knowledge. You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” this sticks out to me in particular because it kind of explains how much of hypocrites we as humans can be. Why does it make sense for us to stop others from learning ,or listening, or finding, just because we don’t want to?,
I think God is trying to tell us that we need Him. We are nothing without the Lord and His love. We need to be more grateful for the life we have. We don’t deserve God’s love it is unfair so we need to serve God in any way that we can.
I think God is telling us that we must not lead others astray by our own stupid choices and mistakes. We are all imperfect and that’s how God wants us to be.
This reflection reminds me of the Gospel that talks about how we are so quick to point out the splinter in our neighbors eye but we forget the plank in our own. We always just judge and judge and judge, that’s who we are. Sinners, judgers, bullies. It’s our humanity, we get so wrapped up in the world and how we have to act to get included but we forget about what God wants for us. What he has waiting for us. We never stop to look at our faults and beg God for forgiveness. Even if you get judged you still need to live for God and not for what everyone says you need to be. In the end it will not be about how popular you were or how rich you were. The question will be did you serve God, were you an image of God.
What I think the Gospel is telling us is that we should not brag about what we have. Some people have more than others that doesn’t mean we need to brag to the ones that don’t have as much as you. We need to be humble and not make others feel bad for not having as much as we do or having worse things, or not having the newest thing. We need to stop bragging about what we have because God doesn’t care if you have a million dollars all he cares about is if you have a good and nice soul. You should want to have a better soul and be nicer rather than have more than others have. You should want the best for yourself but if you brag about what you have then you are not using it the right way.
What I get from this gospel is we have to remember why Jesus gave us life. We need to think of Christianity as a relationship more than a religion because when we think of it as a religion it seems like we are just following a set of rules. We need to lead others to Jesus not the rules of Christianity.
“You yourselves did not enter and you stopped those trying to enter.” I think Jesus is trying to tell us not to be selfish or we should love each other. We should always love each other and always forgive for that is what God wants for us.
” He made us to have compassion on others, to forgive, to take care of the less fortunate, and to love even if people don’t deserve it.” God made us this way but we don’t act like it. We should use that compassion for those who are in need of love and forgiveness, not the other way around. Today we should go out and help those in need of God’s love and bring them closer to Him and His mercy.
God is telling us to give our will to him, not to sin, and follow the ten Commandments.
“He is love straight through and this is what we will be surrounded with and filled up with in the spiritual realm, our heavenly homeland”.He will always love us, and He that our ultimate goal is Heaven. Also it shows me that God will love us no matter what.
God is telling me that I should not just run through prayers and get them done as fast as possible, but that I should take my time and really dig deep and ponder the words that I am saying, and focus on the meaning of them.
I think God is trying to tell me to repent and let God forgive me. I think that he wants me to get in Heaven and to be a Child of God so I will try my best.
I feel like this tells us that even though our ancestors might not have been good people we can still be good people through Jesus.
What God is telling me in this is do not be selfish and to always try to be kind. And to try to be a good influence for the people around us. We should always try to help the people who are in need of forgiveness.
I think he is trying to tell me not to let anyone bring me down and not to put other people down and not to judge a book by its cover. Also not to ever give up and no matter how many times you fail you keep trying again and again.
Today Jesus tells me that those who devote their life to the Lord will reach heaven’s gates. When Jesus comes again he will take all right us to his kingdom.
In today’s gospel it is talking about the Pharsises. God is trying to tell me that I should not get caught up in sin because sin is not good. We also need to thank God for giving us the gift of life and we need to follow his rules. Do not brag about our things because sometimes other people don’t have that we should be greatful for the things we have. God loves you!
what I understood was that God chose us for a reason not just because we all have a meaning to him
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that we should go out and spread the Gospel and help others that are in need of help.
In today’s Gospel I feel that I have been critiquing everybody else more than I am critiquing myself. I know God made us not point out what others are doing wrong.
I think what God is trying to tell us here today is that we should help each other and to not be selfish. We have to help each other with our service, not to bring each other down when we are down. Our goal is to reach Heaven, but when we insincerely serve, hypocritically judge others, or take away the true meaning of Christianity, it puts our way to Heaven in a detrimental state. So, not only should you help yourself and reach the true way of life, but to bring others into the same life, as you would by helping others sincerely in the time of need.
What I think God is telling us Is that even though we see others doing bad stuff we shouldn’t do bad stuff we should just stick to our lane to Christ and if someone needs help along there way to Christ we will help them is they need help we have to follow Jesus through out our life we need to be ready to help people along there way to Jesus Chris.
We are missing the entire purpose of why God gave us life, to love. This stuck out to me because I think we need to love others as much as they love us.
