“NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS TO ME, ‘LORD, LORD,’WILL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN,BUT ONLY THE ONE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.” MT 7:21, 24-27
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
What is the “will of my Father”? What has been left behind for us to learn who we are in Christ? A person must read the Scriptures and Catechism to seek out the Truth Christ revealed about the will of the Father. Here we find what the Apostles, Paul, the holy women and saints with the guidance of the Holy Spirit have passed down in Scripture and Tradition.
The Catholic Church has an unbroken link of bishops who have proclaimed and defended the Truths Jesus revealed about the “will of my Father”. If the true intention of a person’s heart is to “enter the Kingdom of heaven”, they will seek Jesus and the Truth in the Scriptures and His life that enters them through a faithful sacramental life. Fr. Barron recommends a person look at St Paul’s reading in Galatians 5 if they want to know if they are doing God’s Will.
Freedom for Service.
[j] 13 For you were called for freedom, brothers. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh; rather, serve[k] one another through love. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”[l]
15 But if you go on biting and devouring one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.
16 I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh.[m] 17 For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want. 18 But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 [n]Now the works of the flesh are obvious: immorality, impurity, licentiousness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishness, dissensions, factions,21 occasions of envy,[o] drinking bouts, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ [Jesus] have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit. 26 Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, envious of one another. Gal 5:13-26
A person can see if they are doing God’s will in their lives if they see the fruits of the Spirit in their lives.
Since Jesus Christ died and resurrected, we receive the Holy Spirit and the grace of God floods our heart and soul to wash away Original Sin and sanctifies us, makes us holy. We are branded with Christ.
Holiness is perfection in God’s eyes, not doing everything perfect, being nervous about everything, worrying about everything, planning everything perfectly, but emptying self, putting on/filling ourselves up with Christ and loving all those we encounter. Also, seeking out those who need our love outside our homes and jobs. We must be holy to enter heaven, where the holiest of holies dwells.
God is complete in Himself we cannot add anything to Him. Our lives are a complete gift on loan for a while, offer your life back to Him, doing His work and returning to Him sanctified like the day you were baptized. Live to give Him glory who gave us everything!
When we don’t, we lose the power of the Cross, Jesus’ death and resurrection for us. When we fall away from Jesus, He does not leave us. He stays planted firmly with us, waiting for us to return ready to give us love and mercy.
We have every spiritual power in us (intellect, will), we have God in us in the Holy Spirit, we must take time to listen in silence each day to prepare for the battle that starts in our mind to what God has to say in our heart, then put on the armor of God and be ready for the battle to stay holy.
Today’s Advent challenge: Learn to be still. Sit in silence and listen to God in your heart. If the fruits of the Spirit are not present in your life, ask God what you must do to change. Be a servant, fight for holiness, become a saint!
Be a servant be a saint today!
#Christian YODO (You Only Die Once; We will live again!)
Fr. Michael Schmitz on “Am I doing God’s will”
1. Did you pray today?
2. Are you in the state of grace?
3. Are you doing your daily tasks?
I think Jesus is trying to tell us that God will always be there for us and when you follow him things will be good for you but if you don’t they wont be good for you because then you won’t go to heaven
Not doing everything perfect, being nervous about everything, worrying about everything, planning everything perfectly.
This part of the Scripture Reflection stood out to me because it shows exactly how God sees everybody perfect, you may not think you are perfect on the inside or someone else in the world may think you’re not perfect, but God will always think you are perfect, no matter the cost.
I think in today’s Gospel Jesus is saying that we need a strong firm foundation in order to thrive in the eyes of Jesus. But not a foundation like rock or stone or concrete the foundation of Jesus is what we need. When we finally have Jesus as our foundation we are just coasting until we get to eternal life.
I think today in the Gospel we represent the fool who put his house on the sand because we can never get enough of God’s word. We want to become the Wise man in this story. The only way we can do this is through God. I think that the Wise man is God. I think this because it says if you listen to my word you will be like the Wise man who put his house on rock. In other Gospels he says that whoever listens and follows me will be like me.
“only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” this stuck out the most to me because it tells me that if you listen to God you will be happy in heaven.
“Holiness is perfection in God’s eyes”this just shows that we need to be ok with failure and ok with not doing good. God will love us, God will be with us,God is in us. All He asks of us is to be holy. He loves all of us. We have to be ok with failure.
In Today’s gospel the Lord says “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” I think he means he wants us to listen and follow the Lord even in heaven even if people say Lord Lord will not go to heaven those who listen and act on the Lord will get to go.
Something that I got out of this was that, we could go to church, and do all those things that help us go to heaven, yet some people think that if we go to church, and go to communion, and confession, than we think that we will go to heaven just because of those things, but besides those you are going out every night and partying, or you are doing drugs, and drinking all the time, yet just because you go to church every Sunday, you think that you get into the heaven because of this. Jesus clearly states that you don’t get into heaven by good works, Jesus said that you get in by believing and following him, yet you can do the good work of going to church, yet can’t listen to what he says, and live a humble life. God knows what you do outside of those church doors, so do good with that.
Jesus wants us to be in Heaven with Him. He gives us all of the tools we need down on Earth such as the sacraments and the Eucharist. The will of the father to me is living a life where you be yourself. You don’t have to stress about what others think of you and try to be like other people. Stay true to your beliefs and talk to God so he can lead you on your path of life. If you talk to God and listen to what He tells you to do you are doing the will of the Father.
“Put the armor of God on and fight.” This is what stood out to me because when we put the armor of God on nothing can stop us. We are free, we are one with the Lord. When it says fight it is talking about preaching the Lord’s will and standing up for our faith, being leaders. So put on the armor of God and fight and protect your faith and don’t let anything come between you and your God.
Todays Gospel is about how we need to act on God’s words in order to get to Heaven just listening to them wont get us into Heaven, But we don’t need to be perfect as we all sin and hurt Jesus but if we go to confession and are truly sorry for what we did we can enter into God’s kingdom and live with him forever
everybody has a purpose in life, no one doesn’t. God put you in here for a reason. He knew what time he’d put you in and where. God put you here for a reason. do what he says
In todays scripture it says that “What is the will of my father” it means that everyone who beholds the son and believes in him will have eternal life.
“enter the Kingdom of heaven”, they will seek Jesus and the Truth in the Scriptures and His life that enters them through a faithful sacramental life.” Today I think God is telling me that you will only find the real truth in Heaven. Even some things on earth are wrong about Him and no one knows the real truth. We know all of these things based on research and evidence, but they won’t always be 100 percent right. We don’t know what He looks like either, but we know His love for us is infinite and He will always forgive us no matter what we do or say.
Our faith is what Peters name is. In Greek Peter in “Rock”. He held the group together. Our faith is how we take care for it. We can either take it easy and walk in the sand and live there for it is comfy, or we could take the hard route on the hard rocks and live there for that is what God tells you to build his house on. When we build on the easy sand our house gets flooded because it is near the water. It gets blown because it is not strong. Take your faith to the high tops for it is strong and will never be flooded or blown away. Jesus will take care of the rest once you listen to him. Your faith has saved you if you listen and do. It’s not hearing, it’s hearing and doing what he tells you. In the Chosen Mary tell the people ” do whatever he tells you”. If you build on the rocks your house is built strong, and is high above the ground. The house will never blow away, and it is quiet. The house on the sand, gets flooded, and moved because the man has never tooken care of the house that God has given you. So listen, take care, and realize that the house you are building is for you, God, and others that you are bringing with you to Heaven. Don’t take the small car, take the Van that can carry more than the small car. Heaven needs more people, we are not called to leave the one for the ninety nine, but to leave the ninety nine for the one. That is what our vocation is. Taking others to the place where they have been called from the start. Home
“The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.”
These words are important to me because only
wise men may build their house on a rock. As it
says in today’s Gospel reading. Also God made
the rain fall and he made the winds come; And so
we must give ourselves fully to God as Human
We have a fallen nature to commit sins and God died
for that.
In today’s Gospel Jesus says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” We can’t just say we’re Catholic or say that we believe in God, but we also have to do the things the Father says we should do. We still have to obey the will of God and believe and trust in Him.
For the start of advent. We are called to let God into our lives so to do that we must pray and love others. Jesus gave his life for us on the cross.
The question what is the will of my father is a question most people think they know the answer to but in reality most people dont. Ithink what it meeans is to be better and do the things he was told us to do like spread the word of God and to help those in need. But its so much more than that.
What stood out to me was “Since Jesus Christ died and resurrected, we receive the Holy Spirit and the grace of God floods our heart and soul to wash away Original Sin and sanctifies us, makes us holy. We are branded with Christ.” This stood out to me because we are also branded with the holy spirit.
Today’s Gospel says that if you do not listen to God’s words your world will collapse. But if you do listen to His words and act on it then you shall be rewarded with eternal life and the goodness of Him.
God was telling me to do his will even when no one is whaching and to always be kind.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus Christ is speaking through a parable. He says you won’t make it to heaven if you say “Lord! Lord!” If you want to make it to heaven you have to act on what you are hearing from God. This Gospel feels very relatable because I feel like I am always doing this; I pray and love God very much, but I almost never act on it, and this not what I should do to get to heaven, I need to act, just like everyone else.
In today’s Gospel Jesus says “But if you go on biting and devouring one another, beware that you are not consumed by one another.
16 I say, then: live by the Spirit and you will certainly not gratify the desire of the flesh.[m] 17 For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you may not do what you want. 18 But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” to me this means that we should bite each other(be rude, hurtful, etc to each other) so that we can live the Gospel of life and be good brothers and sisters
I think Jesus is telling us we have to do more than just go through the motions of our faith. We can’t just go to Mass on Sunday and say I’m done for the week because I’ve fulfilled my obligations. No, we must have prayer in our own daily lives outside of Mass. We also can’t just say because I pray I have faith, I don’t need to do anything more. No, once again we must act according to faith, and live in love of God and neighbor. If we do not act on our faith, we will be like the man who set his house on sand. Our faith will be tested at times, so we must build a firm foundation for our faith.
It was telling me to be merciful and loving to the Lord!
In todays Gospel Jesus is trying to tell us to trust in him because he has a plan and whatever the plan is needs to be fulfilled. He has a plan for salvation and is trying to give us a good life we just have to trust in Him.
In todays gospel I Jesus told me that if you leave Jesus he will still be with you. Waiting for you to give love and mercy. Jesus is complete in Himself. we cannot add anything to Him. He is telling us to live to love him.
In today’s Gospel it says that we will seek the truth in scriptures but most of all in Jesus, and also we receive the holy spirit and God floods our heart to wash away the sins and to make are heart but also our body holy. The only truth that we must seek is in Jesus Christ himself.
something that stuck with me when I was reading this is that if you truly believe in the words you say like I believe God came down to Earth died for us and ressurected on the third day you will go to heaven. Why I think this stuck with me when I was reading this was because you can just say you believe in God but you really don’t and then you will think you’re gonna go to heaven but that’s not usually the case. You can say you Love him but do you really love him? When you say you believe in God you should mean it down to the bottom of you core/soul. you shouldn’t be messing around saying you believe in God or mocking him If you don’t mean it. When you say I believe in God the Father all Mighty Creator of Heaven and Earth, You better mean every single word you said down to your heart and soul. Your not just saying some dumb words your saying what has been passed down through sciptures and youre toying with the words of God everytime you don’t mean it. So whenever you say I Believe in God the Father all Mighty Creator of Heaven and Earth, dont just say it and don’t think it doesn’t mean anything, next time mean it put your heart, your soul, and your mind into meaning and saying it.
Today the lord said to me that you shall be firmly rooted in your beliefs. To be like the guy who built his house on a rock is to be in a relation with God you’re firmly rooted with a solid base to know what’s right and what’s wrong. But if you are like the guy who built on sand and chooses not to do right and just says lord lord and thinks he is fine is not firmly rooted with a relation to God/Jesus. But that doesn’t mean that he can’t build his foundation. He can still build up to eternity with God forever. So go build up your foundation today and get rid of the sand. Amen.
I think todays gospel is trying to tell us to let God into our lives. It tells us that by doing this we can better use and receive the glories and wonders of God. I also think it is especially important to let him in in during advent as it is time of preperation for the birth of Jesus and we must be Holy.
in today’s Gospel Jesus tries to tell us to act to the words he is saying
“Trust in the LORD forever!
For the LORD is an eternal Rock.
He humbles those in high places,
and the lofty city he brings down;”
What this means for me is that Whoever you are wherever you are, if your worried about something, don’t be. All you have to do is trust in the Lord. The Lord is brave, strong, and mighty. He is going to protect you no matter what.
“NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS TO ME, ‘LORD, LORD,’WILL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN,BUT ONLY THE ONE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.” this really stuck out to me because not everyone will enter heaven. To enter heaven you have to follow God’s will and be a believer, even if you say you believe if your actions don’t show it then it is way different.
I think the gospel is trying to tell us that when you do things for Christ you have to understand why you do it and that you are doing it for God to help you get to heaven
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.” In today’s Gospel, I think that Jesus is trying to tell me that we need to put our faith in him deeply, in order for us to make it to Heaven. We need to trust in him.
“NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS TO ME, ‘LORD, LORD,’WILL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN,BUT ONLY THE ONE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.” What this means to me is that we cannot just say that we are going to heaven but you have to work for it to get to heaven.Because you cannot just talk and not do it you need to show action of what you say your going to do.
I think what God is trying to tell me is we need to listen to Him. God may have given us free will but He knows what is best for us, so it is imperative that we strive to hear His voice and listen to Him. In addition, we cant say we are followers of Christ if we don’t act like it.
Today’s Gospel talks about how your soul can either be like the wise man who built his house on rock. or your soul can be the unwise man who built a house on sand. the wind and rain came and the rock house stood but the sand house did not. It means to be wise with you’re decision in like some may bring you down while some may bring you up closer to God.
Today’s gospel is another parable that tells us that we basically need to not just listen but to actually do what he says in the parable.
I think Jesus was telling me to always be strong in what I believe in. If you are built on a strong foundation you will not be shaken unlike those who are built on a weak foundation
what God is telling me is you cant just automatically guarantee you go to heaven by saying I believe in Jesus Christ you have to act on what you say you can go to heaven by going to church on Sundays going to confession and just praying its simple but saying that I believe in Jesus Christ although yes it is good you say that and spread the gospel but just saying that doesnt mwan you are automatically going to heaven
In todays Gospel you cant just say ‘Lord, Lord,’ and expect to go to heaven. You will have to build your house on a rock and stand your ground against the devil in his evil doings.
In today’s Gospel it’s saying how you have to listen to the word of God to understand Him. When you believe in God then your spirit with God will grow and stay good. But when you start to sin more and more you will start to fall over and lean.
I think that Jesus is trying to tell me that He is the strong foundation of a home and He should be the center of it not just someone to praise when something goes your way or when you need something, you should worship Him if the day is dark or bright if it is stormy or clear, you must worship Him.
What God told me today is that everyone can listen to his word but only the wise and faithful will act upon it and do his will. If we really want to make it to heaven we cant just listen to God’s word but understand it and do his will and not ignore it. If you do act up on it and listen to his plan for you, that plan will lead you to the right path where at the end is heaven.
I think in the Gospel today God is telling us that if one listens to His word but does not follow it and act upon it, they will be unable to go to Heaven. We must always do what God tells us to, even if we are afraid to do it or don’t want to follow it. It is better to die following God’s will rather than to have what you want in life.
In today’s gospel the message I got was that we need to do what we say. We can use our words to show that we are “holy” but not be holy. If we say we will do something, then we keep our word.
In today’s Gospel Jesus says, We can’t just say we’re Catholic or say that we believe in God, but we also have to do the things the Father says we should do. We still have to obey the will of God and believe and trust in him so that why we need him
I think in today’s Gospel Jesus is saying that we need a strong firm foundation in order to thrive in the eyes of Jesus. When you believe in God then your spirit with God will grow and stay good. But when you start to sin more and more you will start to fall over and lean.We must always do what God tells us to, even if we are afraid to do it or don’t want to follow it. It is better to die following God’s will rather than to have what you want in life.
If we wish to go to heaven we have to believe in God. You have to be faithful in God. You have to have a firm foundation on your faith.
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” I think this means that we can believe in God but when hard times come, we have to stay firm.
in todays gospel jesus tells us about the two houses one is built on sand and when the storm comes it gets knocked over but the second man builds his house on concrete and when the storm comes he is not knocked over same is us with the lord if we are with him then when the storm comes we will be fine but if not we will be crushed
I think God is trying to tell us that just because we know who he is doesnt always mean we’re guaranteed a ticket to Heaven. We have to do his works, and follow his commandment and acts. But if we don’t, we will be lost from him and we will not make it to Heaven.
In the scripture I think it is telling us that God gave us everything we need to make it to heaven. Since he loves us so much he offered up his son to save us. So we should have no excuse in not being able to make it to heaven.
Jesus said to his disciples:”Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” this stuck out to me because I realize how easy it is just to go through the motions of prayer and mass without really thinking about it. We know it is what we should do, so we do it without really meaning it. Like in Mrs. Irion’s talk this morning. She never really knew what it meant to be a Christian till she started asking questions about the Catholic faith. We need to think about what we are doing, and that will help us get to heaven.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. This tells us that going to heaven takes action and you must work to go to heaven. Good deeds and selfless acts get us closer to Him and the Father. We must not be lazy and do what it takes and do what God asks to get to heaven.
Holiness is perfection. I love that line because it takes away the worries of trying to be perfect for God. Like, trying to get perfect on a test, trying to be everywhere on time, and so on. That does not determine what is perfect to God. To Him, being a model of holiness is extremely perfect. Meaning, loving others as yourself, saying prayers everyday, spreading the Word of God, and being kind to everyone as Jesus did. THAT is what makes you perfect.
what this scripture is telling me is that we do not have to be perfect to seem perfect in Gods eyes. Us having faith in him and carrying out the catholic beliefs is perfectness in his eyes.
In today’s scripture it says that “What is the will of my father” it means that everyone who beholds the son and believes in him will have eternal life. You don’t have to stress about what others think of you and try to be like other people. Stay true to your beliefs and talk to God so he can lead you on your path of life. If you talk to God and listen to what He tells you to do you are doing the will of the Father.
In today’s gospel, Jesus says, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” What I got out of this was you can’t just say you believe God, you actually have to do it.
Jesus said, “And everyone who listens to these words of mine, but does not act on them, will be like a fool who built his house on sand” I think this is saying that many people go to mass and know a lot about Jesus, on the outside they look like a good and faithful catholic, but spiritually they are not close to God because they aren’t giving him their full attention or they are giving their attention to something else.
“Put the armor of God on and fight.” This stood out to me because God always wins, He is more powerful than everything. I think what He is trying to tell me is that I need him more than any other worldly thing. All our electronics, sports, and all the other things that make us happy, is just giving us happiness right now, God will give us eternal happiness, not all of the other worldly things.
In the second part of the gospel Jesus is explaining how when we are with God we shall remain steadfast and none will be able to get through His love. God is the strongest foundation that we could ever have, and when we choose Him no malice or deceit will ever take us down. Through Him the way is found, the true way, the lovely way, and the holy way. He will lead us down this way back to him.
Jesus is telling us the way to heaven. We are supposed to help one another through Jesus. If we really want to go to the kingdom of heaven we will seek Jesus and learn more about the scriptures. When Jesus died on the cross we received the Holy Spirit and the grace of God.
In today’s Gospel Jesus says “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” To me Jesus was saying if we follow the Lord he will guide us in the right path. If we don’t follow him our life will be rocky and confusing and won’t be the best for us. God will still love us all through it but at the start it says “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.”
” Our lives are a complete gift on loan for a while, offer your life back to Him.” This stuck out to me because Jesus is the one who created us and we shall repay him by following him and making him happy for us getting to heaven so we can celebrate the world with him for ever and ever.
We must not be lazy and do what it takes and do what God asks to get to heaven
This scripture Gospel made me realize that we are the fools because we hear the word of God but we don’t act on it or do anything about it. The people who listen to God’s words and act on them are the wise people who put their foundation as rock instead of sand like we do. We should not pretend to God by listening and doing His will because God knows what we do with our daily lives. He knows every second, minute, and hour of our day. We should listen to God’s words and act on it so we can also become wise people.
What I understand from this is that we need to know about the bible because those are Gods words and we need to remember that is his teaching .
Jesus is trying to tell us if we really want to go to the Kingdom of Heaven we will want to seek Jesus and the Truth. We are all called for freedom and we need to use this freedom to serve others. When Jesus died we received gods grace and we need to use it to help people in need.
God has literally given us everything that we need to reach heaven. It is down to us whether we use these gifts, abilities, and things he has for us on Earth for good or bad. We have a choice that God has given us. He isn’t forcing us to go to heaven, because then if you didn’t love God that would be fake love.
In today’s Gospel it said “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven,
but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.”
I think that this means that not just because you do believe in him dose not mean you will get into heaven. You have to act the part and be the part to get into heaven, Jesus wants us to act kind to others and not be hateful.
We have every spiritual power in us (intellect, will), we have God in us in the Holy Spirit, we must take time to listen in silence each day to prepare for the battle that starts in our mind to what God has to say in our heart, then put on the armor of God and be ready for the battle to stay holy.We have every tool that we need to go to heaven but we are just using it wrong. We need to get ourselves to heaven and and everyone around us.
“If the true intention of a person’s heart is to “enter the Kingdom of heaven”, they will seek Jesus and the Truth in the Scriptures and His life that enters them through a faithful sacramental life.” this whole phrase stuck out to me because it tells us that everybody has free will, and God will never force us to love him, but here on earth the most we can do is help encourage people to follow the faith.
“But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.” Jesus is not talking about literal houses in the Gospel today. He is talking about us. We are called to build our ‘house’ that is our faith on solid ‘rock’ that will not give way, that is Jesus. He is our rock. If we follow His words and His footsteps, we will be able to stand firm in our faith.
The Lord is trying to tell us that we need to act the will of God and not just pray it. If we pray to the Lord to be a better person but we do not act like it what does that say about us. It says that we are Luke warm and we don’t want to fully give our lives to the Lord. It says that we are not willing to do the full will of the Lord but just part of it.
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” stuck out to me because we should love everyone and not have enemies.
sometimes I feel like I built my house on sand, but I then realized that it was just how weak my faith was.
I trusted in God very little and when I did trust in God it made me feel like I just built my house on sand not realizing that I
had just built it on rock.
It is important that we live in such a way that is reflecting God’s graces, because today’s scripture tells us that if we do, we will be able to stand solidly against sin, with God as our foundation. If we do not live our lives as God instructs us, we will be swept up by sin.
We must build our “house” of faith on solid rock. If we build it on something like say, sand, as mentioned in the gospel today it wont take much weigh of the world to shake and break our faith. If we build our “house” of faith on solid rock it will be near impossible to shake and break. It would take so much more to take us away from Jesus and true everlasting life. We can be so strong in our faith, but we just need to built it on a firm foundation.
Something that stuck out to me in this Gospel was “not everyone who says to me Lord Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven”. This stuck out to me because it is telling us that even if you pray and go to church and do all of this holy stuff, if you aren’t doing it with great passion and you are just doing it because you have to then it won’t count and it is not the right way that we should be praying to our lord. If we are going to pray and go to church then we need to believe and go into praying with the right mindset. Just because people pray and go to church doesn’t mean that you will get into heaven. If you are doing it because someone is making you then you will never get to heaven. You have to do it because you want to not because someone is making you.
what stood out to me was “If the true intention of a person’s heart is to “enter the Kingdom of heaven”, they will seek Jesus and the Truth in the Scriptures and His life that enters them through a faithful sacramental life.”
Praying to God is how we achieve happiness. God asks for us to pray and talk to Him. He loves us so much that He died for us. We put Him to death from our sins. Prayers to God show that we love Him. Everyday we should pray to God and ask Him for something. Whether this is some sort of guilt from the past or someone you want to feel better, just ask God.
We have to open our ears and hearts to God. Often times we say we are but in reality we aren’t and we just need to stay focused on God.
The part in the Gospel that stuck out to me was “Put the armor of God on and fight.” It stuck out to me because God is the most powerful and strong thing ever. But we, sinners, are not like him, we are emotional and are not even close to as strong as God. We need to accept Jesus into our life and let him protect us from harm. He can take the pain and hardness of the world. That’s basically what I think this is meaning.
I think God is saying we have to actually believe and pray to him everyday in order to get into heaven. We cant just sau we love and believe in God and then just not do anything about it. If we want to get to heaven we need to try our best to stop sinning and try to get closer to him and if we do that we will go to heaven.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” I like this verse because it shows that our faith can’t just be something we say we believe in but don’t live out. I really think that is one of the greatest tragedies here on Earth. That God literally gave us the faith, and many of us here at school have been raised in it. We have the power to get to know Jesus. We have the power to be great saints. But so many of us let it slip through our fingers. We have to mean what we pray and live out what we say we believe in. Otherwise our faith has no meaning, just like how Jesus says “Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the Kingdom of heaven.” So I just pray that everyone here takes up the Father’s will for them and lives out the faith because you can’t ever win the battle if you don’t fight for your soul.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” Not only do we need to talk to Jesus and listen to him, but we need to act on his word and do the will of God. It is important to read His word though because if we don’t know how to act then we won’t know how not to act. We can’t follow what we don’t know, or ignorant.
this scripture is saying that to get into the kingdom of heaven we need to be holy. the world tells us what we need to be and what we need to do to get everyone else’s approval when we should only want God’s approval because at the end of the day, we will not live eternity here on Earth, we get to choose if we want to spend eternity with God or away from God and our time on Earth is the time to show God what we want our eternity to be.
Today Jesus tells us what to do if we want to get to heaven. We can’t just say we want to get there, but do nothing to prove it. We have to actually long for it in our actions, words, deeds, and our everyday life. Jesus will spit out the lukewarm, so we have to be all in or all out. If we need help and courage to do the right thing then we can go to Jesus in prayer. Ask him to help you and he will. Jesus gets us.
I think that the gospel is trying to tell me is that, people don’t know that God loves us. People think that he would only love us if were perfect or if we make it to heaven, but that isn’t the case. God loves us no matter what we would do. He loves everyone.
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.” This stuck out to me because we need to get to heaven not just by believing but doing the work of God. Like spreading the Gospel or helping other people. If we want to get to heaven we need to take action and not just sit there.
“And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.” I think that it is trying to say we have to do what Jesus tells us. People in the parish can preach and preach but we have to be the ones to do something. It’s like the saying you can lead a horse to its water but cannot force it to drink. God will tell us what to do but we have to be the ones to commit to him. And when it talks about the fools who build their house on sand, it is when we know what will happen when we do not act on his word and when the flood comes/ when we die and meet God face to face we face the consequences. We should be wise and build our house on stone (act on the word of God) and build our relationship with Jesus
Jesus was saying in the Gospel that whoever hears God’s Word and takes it in, using it to guide them in there everyday life will have a strong faith.
“Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but the only one who does the will of my Father in Heaven.” I think what the Gospel is trying to say is that we don’t just get to go into Heaven. We have to work for it, and so we should go out and do what God is telling us to do.
“Holiness is perfection in God’s eyes, not doing everything perfect, being nervous about everything, worrying about everything, planning everything perfectly, but emptying self, putting on/filling ourselves up with Christ and loving all those we encounter”. To me this means that God doesn’t need us to be perfectionists,he wants us to love him unconditionally. We are all perfect in his eyes and nothing can change that.
The thing that stuck out to me was when Jesus said “”Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. This stuck out to me as talking about vocations. We may want to be something in life but God calls you to do something different. We must always be listening because we will never know when he gives us are call.
Something that stuck out to me is “NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS TO ME, ‘LORD, LORD,’WILL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN,BUT ONLY THE ONE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.”
I think what God is trying to tell me is that you can listen to Gods words, but you have to act on them. “And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.” This means to me that I should listen to Jesus and other Christ-like people around me.
If you build on a sturdy rock your house will not fall, just like if you have a strong faith you will be welcomed into heaven. But as Jesus says today if you build on sand it will colapse just as if you have a poor faith or live a lukewarm life the gates of heaven will not be open to you.
I think he is trying to tell me that I’m not a nobody I’m not a person without a purpose because why wouldn’t he make us he created in his image he has known us even before we were in the womb and he gave us name before our parents got to and he just wants us to trust him.
In today’s Scripture Jesus is telling me that if we just listen and don’t act on it. Then, we will not be successful in our faith. But, if you do listen and act on it.You will be successful and have spiritual wealth. For me he is also saying that we must find a good place to stick. Like our friend group which will keep us strong and sturdy
What I think God is saying in the gospel is that we have to earn the kingdom of Heaven we can’t just say oh yeah I’m a Catholic we have to show we are Catholic be maybe by practicing the virtues and praying more often than just at school and actually believing the saints, the holy Trinity, Mary, and in God
“And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand.” This stood out to me because if you read scripture about something u should do and the next day u do the opposite of what it told you to, you basically just read scripture for no reason. If you want to become a better person you have to change your ways and listen to scriptures.
Holiness is perfection in God’s eyes, not doing everything perfect. This part of today’s scripture stood out to me because it’s saying that God doesn’t judge you for the things you do and he doesn’t need you to be perfect. He just wants you to have a strong faith, not be perfect. I also liked how it mentioned that we have to be holy to enter heaven.
I think what God is trying to tell us here today is that we need to be sincere about our faith, serious about our faith, and mindful about our faith. By sincere: we cannot serve or pray or usher because we are told to, being required to. That’s doing “work” for God because somebody told you to, and most likely you’ll be insincere about it or do it but not put much thought into it. We must be sincere when we serve, pray, or usher. That shows that you truly care for God and have the intent of doing your mission. By serious, we cannot joke around or pretend to serve, pray, or usher for God. It’s disrespectful and rude, in some cases it can be considered blasphemy. That’s why we must be mindful of our Catholic faith. We as Christians are called to serve God and help others; respect others and read the Bible. Listen to God in all he does. Do not try to cover up your insincerity and motives. God knows what you are doing at all times. God will change you in such an extraordinary way that should be taken for granted and shall be respected and deserving.
In today’s Gospel, the one thing that stuck out to me was “Put on the armor of God” It really stuck out to me because it feels like it is telling me to be strong and very humble. Then the part where it said “and fight” was personally my favortie line we have to fight to get to heavan! God Bless!!
“Holiness is perfection in God’s eyes.” This stuck out to me because it shows that God will love us no matter what and all He wants for us is to be holy. So even if you fail at the things you want or love to do He won’t care as long as you love him and live the way of life he prepared for you.
We must listen to the will of God. He knows what is best for us, and he understands that what we need, we need to find in HIm. He will lead us to heaven, and we must understand that we are our best selves in Him. So we need to follow God, and listen to His word.
This Gospel talks about those to listen to God will be safe and those who didnt, they got hurt. Those who listened and built on rock, when the storm came, the house was solid. Those who built on sand, when the storm came, it fell down. God helps us, he wants to keep us safe and that only works if we listen to him.
“NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS TO ME, ‘LORD, LORD,’WILL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN,BUT ONLY THE ONE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.” That stuck out to me because Jesus is saying that if you obey God, then you will meet Christ in Heaven. We have to follow the orders of God!
A person can see if they are doing God’s will in their lives if they see the fruits of the Spirit in their lives. This has a strong meaning. It is saying that if your or someone else’s actions don’t feel right or look right then you aren’t seeing the fruits. If you are seeing the fruits like love. You or someone else is showing love towards others then you or they are seeing the fruits.
I think the gospel is trying to tell us that when you do things for Christ you have to understand why you do it and that you are doing it for God to help you get to heaven.Amen
The gospel is saying that we need to trust God. God will always have a plan for us and he did for Joseph. We can always trust in Him.
