THE TRANSFIGURATION
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Prayer Prompt before reading LK 5:27-32: Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father and God the Son are so that I may know who I am.
Today, the Transfiguration takes place and Moses represents the Law and Elijah the prophets from the Old Testament. Jesus is the One the whole Bible revolves around as the Messiah who came to fulfill the Law and the prophets. This is a foreshadowing of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ, the Savior of the world, King of the Universe.
It is so important that God the Father speaks again, “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.” He says “This is my beloved Son of whom I am well pleased at Christ’s baptism.” As we strive to imitate Christ, our lives, starting at Baptism are to be transfigured, transformed, changed to die to self and put on Christ. We are called to carry our daily crosses and offer them up with Christ’s suffering. Then, we are to live in service to others and help them transform themselves. This is our Christian identity and brings joy to those who do it.
Today, we regain insight and hope from this Good News. In your prayer today, start with the Words of the Father, your Creator, “You are my beloved son/daughter”. We are adopted sons/daughters of God, through Jesus Christ, in Baptism. So, we are God’s sons and daughters. When we realize this and really meditate on it we live with dignity, not cocky, but humble, not better than anyone but as good as anyone and have a realistic image of ourselves.
Accept who you were created to be and stop trying to please everyone else or what the Internet and social media make you think you should be. God had a very specific design for you. Get to know God and you will get to know yourself. By loving God, you will love who you were created to be.
His greatest desire is for you to allow Him to love you, accept who you are, and transform the world right where you are. We only have 70-80 years if we’re lucky, don’t waste any time. Buy in and see what God has to offer you, He promises a lot. He wants to give it all to you. Let go and let God transform you into who He created you to be in Christ. The rewards are eternal.
Today’s challenge: Realize who you were created to be by talking to God in prayer, have a heart to heart with your Savior and Creator. Transform the world by transforming yourself through God’s grace.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
