Listen to the readings at Mass today!  Read them in the missal.

Paul states, “Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vainglory;
rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves,
each looking out not for his own interests,
but also for those of others.”

Phil 2:1-5

What a difficult task, to humbly regard others as more important than yourself.  I am very prideful and often do not think of others needs around me first.  I am too stuck thinking about myself or what I need.  Today, try really hard to put Paul’s words into action and think of others first.  There will be opportunities to help your parents and siblings, do things for them without expecting things in return.  This is the first step in being a missionary in your own home.  Offer the last helping at breakfast to everyone else, ask if you can help cook, clean up, clean someone else’s room, ask if you can help with laundry or folding the clothes.  If we put our eyes on Christ, we will automatically put others first.   Unselfishness is a staple of our faith and the greatest gift of Christ to us by dying on the Cross.  Amen.

Jesus teaches us that the intention in our heart is most important! He also reminds us to be true to ourselves. I have a poster that says, “Be yourself, an original is always better than a copy.” Don’t be fake to fit in. You will end up losing yourself in the process which is more devastating than fitting in. God never makes mistakes or wastes anything, you are His creation and were made for a purpose. The same goes for your faith. Don’t fake being Christian. You are or your not. It is a great responsibility, but with God’s grace anything is possible. Pray, sacrifice, and be compassionate (have a heart) for others!
