Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

When Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi
he asked his disciples,
“Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah,
still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter said in reply,
“You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah.
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter,
and upon this rock I will build my Church,
and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Mt. 16:13-19
No other religious founder ever says the words Jesus says in today’s Gospel, “Who do you say that I am?” When we ask ourselves who we are, we ask what makes us who we are, our ontological make up. This is revolutionary! Peter answers, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” The resurrection of Jesus Christ solidifies who He is and solidifies the words of Peter today. Jesus truly is the Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One, the Savior of all humanity. This changes everything and is the reason we are followers of this Man. Next, Jesus gives the power and authority of God to the first pope and sets up the Catholic Church. For over 2000 years, no army, government, religion, or other power has destructed the Church. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit working through the Church, the Pope and bishops, and us (Mystical Body of Christ) that keeps the Catholic Church surviving every evil and power on earth. Once again, this is revolutionary. If this does not strengthen our love for God and motivate us to follow Jesus more closely, I don’t know what will. Everything Christ has promised is true because He is the “Way, the Truth, and the Life.” With God’s grace anything is possible. Through Jesus, we can obtain eternal life. He does not condemn us, He only loves and forgives us. We killed God with our sins and He came back loving us and forgiving us-Fr. Robert Barron. He is the Man!

Today’s challenge: Take small steps to change your life, conquering your fallen human nature, and with God’s grace overcoming evil and sin. God has given us all we need: a mind, will, memory, and His grace through the Church (priests, sacraments).

Be a servant, become a saint!
