Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.

“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.
This is the Law and the Prophets.

“Enter through the narrow gate;
for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction,
and those who enter through it are many.
How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life.
And those who find it are few.” MT 7:6, 12-14

Jesus is the narrow gate. The life of a Christian disciple is not glamorous, but fulfilling. The intention of our hearts is to reach heaven. The gate is not narrow, but there is only one way to enter, through Jesus Christ. As fallen humans we do not like to suffer or sacrifice. We do not like change. We strive and seek for comfort and luxury. We want to quit when we are tired and broken. We are sinners in this “valley of tears”. The irony is that Jesus came to flip all of this upside down. He gives purpose to suffering. He gives us strength when we are weak and gives us hope. He took on all sin and died out of love for us. We are never really happy when we have all the comfort and luxury we want. No material thing gives us hope, love, mercy, and a Spirit that transforms us. The Word of God, grace through the sacraments, and a personal relationship with Christ fulfills us and are eternal. The Eucharist feeds us and transforms us to thrive in the face of sin, brokenness, suffering, fear, and change. God’s grace overpowers sin and His love is greater than any power in the world.

We have an important personal choice: the narrow gate, Jesus, or the gate of destruction which is wide open and well used. Are you ready to train yourself into the disciple of Christ He made you for? Come to Him broken and sinful and He will transform you through the Spirit into someone who is full of light for the world to see. Then, we can joyfully share it with others for the greater glory of God. Strive to be one of the few who turns the few into many for Christ. Give all for Christ as He has given all for you.

Today’s challenge: Take the Golden Rule to heart and you will be surprised how people will treat you!

Be a servant, become a saint!
