Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Do you not know that you are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
If anyone destroys God’s temple,
God will destroy that person;
for the temple of God, which you are, is holy. 1 Cor 3:9-11, 16-17
St. Paul reminds us that our bodies are temples of God and the Holy Spirit dwells within us. Our bodies are holy. What does this mean? Always respect your body. Never allow anyone to put you down, uphold your dignity as a human being. Never put anyone else down, but build them up. Do not put drugs into your body or overindulge in food or drink. Pray and stir the Spirit within you daily. You and I are an image of God and He dwells within us. We are masterpieces made for a purpose and given a mission to become saints. We are God’s handiwork and He will love us as the most precious of His creation throughout all time. May we love ourselves as God loves us and desire heaven to be with Him as much as He does.
Since the Passover of the Jews was near,
Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
He found in the temple area those who sold oxen, sheep, and doves,
as well as the money-changers seated there.
He made a whip out of cords
and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen,
and spilled the coins of the money-changers
and overturned their tables,
and to those who sold doves he said,
“Take these out of here,
and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.”
His disciples recalled the words of Scripture,
Zeal for your house will consume me.
At this the Jews answered and said to him,
“What sign can you show us for doing this?”
Jesus answered and said to them,
“Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up.”
The Jews said,
“This temple has been under construction for forty-six years,
and you will raise it up in three days?”
But he was speaking about the temple of his Body.
Therefore, when he was raised from the dead,
his disciples remembered that he had said this,
and they came to believe the Scripture
and the word Jesus had spoken. Jn 2:13-22
Jesus calls the temple His Father’s house. Today, we have Jesus Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity dwelling in our tabernacles inside His Father’s house. Let us not forget to change our mind and behavior when we enter a Church. It is holy and sacred. May we remember our purpose for being there, to worship God and receive Jesus. Why do we bless ourselves with holy water, the same water Jesus and all Catholics were baptized with? Why do we genuflect on our right knee looking at the tabernacle? Why do we pray and sing? Why must certain Words be read from the Ambo? Why does Father kiss the altar? Why do we bring gifts up to the altar? Why is it silent? We come to the Father’s house today to allow God to bring us back to the feet of Jesus on our altars at Golgatha and what was once completed in history is completed in mystery on that altar. We are witnesses of Jesus dying for us, staying with us hidden behind a consecrated Host, and allowing us to receive Him.
Today’s challenge: Respect your body, say something nice about someone and how they look, and take time today to recognize the beauty of your Church, the dwelling place of God on earth.
Be a servant, become a saint!
