“HE WAS AMAZED AT THEIR LACK OF FAITH.” MK 6:1-6
Humbly submit your will to God (thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Come, Holy Spirit, teach us how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for us so that we may know the Truth about who God the Father is and who God the Son is, so that we may know who we are.
If a poor man from the other side of town came to us speaking wisdom about the Hebrew Scriptures and astonishing us, would we not believe because we know him, his parents, and his family? Would we make judgment because he is poor, from a certain place, or has a certain color of skin? We are all victim’s of judgment in these areas. We watch the news or read the paper and judge.
We think the world would be better if people would just do certain things. We don’t associate with people because of where they came from or what they have done in the past. We do this to such an extent that we don’t even think of them as our brothers and sisters in Christ, created from the same God as our Father. I am certain I have judged in each of these ways before, may God’s grace transform me.
God calls us to get out of our comfort zone, out of our cozy neighborhoods, and beyond our own judgment in our minds and see Christ in all. If we don’t, we might just miss an opportunity to see Jesus visiting us through the least of us and saying again, “I am amazed at your lack of faith.”
What if St. Mother Teresa lived like that? How many would not have received her love and the founding of her religious congregation? Now not all of us are called to this life, but we can all ask God how He is calling us to love more in our homes, schools, work, and community.
Today’s challenge: See every person as Jesus did, with dignity, no matter what they have done, their race, religion, family, or circumstances. Don’t fall victim to judgment and withdraw to a place where no confrontation exists allowing yourself to believe it is someone else’s problem.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
