Come, Holy Spirit, teach us how to pray, interpret the Scriptures for us so that we may know the Divinely Revealed Truths about who God the Father and God the Son are, so that we may know the Truth about who we are.
We have entered the part of Matthew’s Gospel that is a part of all 4 Gospels, the miracles of Jesus. Luke said their would not be enough libraries in the world to write all of the miracles of Jesus. The official in the Gospel is a ruler and the women who had a hemorrhage have completely different ranks. Jesus did not judge based on rank, but on faith. Those who believe.
When miracles happen today (everyday), it is those who believe in the power of Jesus Christ and trust in His promise that He would be with us always. This happens on our altars, in hospitals, in busy traffic, natural disasters, families, work places, and schools to people who pray and believe and even those that don’t.
In the cause for sainthood with Fr. Emil Kapaun, Chase Kear, Avery Gerleman, and Nick Delessega all had people who believed that Jesus Christ could heal their son, daughter, and cousin through the intercession of Fr. Kapaun. They prayed unceasingly for a miracle.
These miracles have all happened very close to us. There are stories after stories of miracles through the intercession of the saints all throughout history. Jesus is truly present among us. He says in MT 28:20, “Lo, I am with you always.” The only way God is not seen in the world is because of a lack of belief. It is a matter of faith.
He cannot lie and leave us, it is us who leave Him or stop believing. It is our Christian duty to keep teaching each generation about God, so they too can come to believe and keep God present in the world through us. We are all called to be saints through baptism. It, too, is a matter of faith.
God never leaves us, we must do whatever it takes to not leave Him with His transformative grace. When is the last time you asked Jesus for a miracle? Me, either. We forget about the power of God in our presence and His great love for us! We are afraid to ask because we are not worthy.
Today’s challenge: Strengthen your faith, learn about God and His promises by reading the Scriptures, going to Mass, visiting Him in adoration, asking the Holy Spirit to guide you, and reading about the saints. Share this pearl of great price, the Good News with all. Make this a lifestyle not a fad or separate part of your life.
Be a servant, be a saint today!
