“HE MAKES THE DEAF HEAR AND THE MUTE SPEAK.” MK 7:37
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate (completely and totally give yourself, all that you have and all that you are) yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Again Jesus left the district of Tyre
and went by way of Sidon to the Sea of Galilee,
into the district of the Decapolis.
And people brought to him a deaf man who had a speech impediment
and begged him to lay his hand on him.
He took him off by himself away from the crowd.
He put his finger into the man’s ears
and, spitting, touched his tongue;
then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him,
“Ephphatha!”— that is, “Be opened!” —
And immediately the man’s ears were opened,
his speech impediment was removed,
and he spoke plainly.
He ordered them not to tell anyone.
But the more he ordered them not to,
the more they proclaimed it.
They were exceedingly astonished and they said,
“He has done all things well.
He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” Mk 7:31-37
Jesus has the power to heal. In doing so He fulfills many prophecies about who He is, the Messiah, the Christ, the Son of God. It shows His Divinity. Today, I would like to focus on spiritual deafness. We live in a world filled with noise (if you let it be that way, self-control is a fruit of the Spirit).
Every day we have a choice to allow our eyes to see and ears to hear certain things. Each time we turn on the TV, any screen time, read a book, listen to music, listen to our parents, priests, teachers, coaches, Jesus in the Gospel, spiritual books, Christian music, our beliefs or what we belong to are being formed.
What are you allowing your eyes to see and ears to listen to? Anything we listen to and watch that is not from Jesus is a lie. Most importantly, God teaches us that He speaks to us in a “still small voice”. Train your eyes and ears to see Jesus in each person you meet today, to see the good in each person, to see all of the blessings God has bestowed on you, to see the positive being achieved in the world around you.
Train your eyes and ears to see with God’s eyes instead of human eyes, it will change the way you live your life. Miracles continue to happen today, take some time to see them with your Spirit.
Today’s challenge: Turn the noise off and listen, spend 2 minutes or more in silence!
Be not afraid, be a saint today!
#Christian YOLO
If we believe that God can do all things and trust him, then he will answer your prayers some way even if it is not in the form that we expected to receive it in he will and has answered many prayers.
“He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” Why do we doubt God? He made miracles and laid down his life for us so we could get to heaven and live. We need to bring more things to Jesus because he can heal us of our sins and our impurities.
Pray: At least one decade
Fast: No candy
Give: Meet everyone with joy and happiness
“Pray, Fast, and Give” Today we learn that Jesus heals us in many different ways, for example he healed a deaf man and so he could hear. That’s a great example of us cause God can heal our ears so we are not deaf so we can hear God’s call and spread the news to others of such a miracle.
Today 2 men bring their friend who is def and has a speech impediment to Jesus to be healed and they ask him to lay a hand on their friend because they know Jesus has such great power that by laying a single finger on him he was healed. But Jesus didn’t want to get recognition from this so he told him to not tell anyone but the more he urged them to not talk about it the more they said because they knew that his act was divine and a normal human couldn’t do that without either being divinve or help form the divine
Pray, Fast, Give
“He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” This stuck out to me because he can do anything. He can cure anyone of any disease. He wants to help us and “cure” us of sin. He wants us to turn to Him when we sin. He doesn’t care how much we sin, He just wants to help us and let us grow closer to Him. We need to turn to Him. We need to tell Him about our day. He just wants us to love Him fully. I will try to pray a decade of the rosary every day, I will give up pop, and I will try to make at least 3 people smile a day.
pray: Once a day
fast: pop and candy and limit my time on my phone
give: I will complacent someone at least once a day
he opens a def mans ear so he is able to hear that is not possible for a normal person to do, but Jesus did it. That is because he is not a normal human being he is the son of God.
I think that this scripture is telling us that, we need to open our eyes to the real world not just on our phones or electronics. We need to be more open and aware of what great gift is surrounding us. God sent us down to earth for a reason, we have a purpose we just may not see it, but we need to put our electronics down and see what’s around us.
God can heal us and have the power too. We just have to take time in scilense and prayer to spend time with him and see how hes working in our everyday life.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus shows us that He is able to heal others and that He can do anything. Jesus healed the deaf man from not being able to hear. When we need help listening to God and hearing His will, we can go to Jesus and He can help us hear God and listen to Him. We listen to bad music and curse so why can’t we listen to God’s voice which is only good? Lent is coming so make a sacrifice to not listen to bad music and open ourselves up to God.
The part that stuck out to me was when Jesus said “Be opened” and the man was healed and could hear. It reminded me of the story of all the people touching Jesus but only the one lady was healed because she was the only one who had faith and actually believed Jesus could heal her. Jesus is revealing to us that He is God and He became man to save us and heal us.

I am going to pray a rosary everyday during Lent. I will fast from sweets and video games. I will give more to the Church on Sunday than what I normally do.

That’s a great example of us cause God can heal our ears so we are not deaf so we can hear God’s call and spread the news to others of such a miracle. My prayer is 2 minutes of silence every day, my fasting is give up an hour of video gaming and spend it with family and my giving is opening doors for others and at least say 1 compliment to someone everyday, also saying thank you even though its not easy to say sometimes.
God has the power to heal all and of all things that they have received like deafness, blindness, mute and sins.
You have to believe in the good and the truth that God will heal you without a second thought just so you can be closer to him in heaven. We can’t just take advantage of God’s mercy.
pray. a decade a day
fast. no candy
give. to spend less time on my phone
Pray- Praying some of the rosary each day
Fast- No sweets
Give- Volunteer my time where its needed
Today we see another faith-healing story. This story is special, however, because we see that it is not by the Faith of the Healed, but the Faith of the Healed’s Friends. Just like the paralytic story, his friends were so trusting that Jesus could heal him, that he did. Faith is a wonderful thing, because it gives us the power to live, and to heal the world. The faith of the friends and their will of the good for him really healed him. This is what we need to know. We need to understand that even though we may not see the change, or it is not as big as we hope for, We need to trust that God will use our prayers and faith to bring souls into heaven.
Pray: Make a rosary every week
Fast: No screens without friends
Giving: Lord’s Diner and Making up for lost Tithe
Jesus heals us through prayer and time. We don’t go to Him clean, we go to Him unclean because He can heal us we can’t heal ourselves. We shape our mind by what we listen to and watch, but if we don’t limit those things we could find ourselves in a place we don’t want to be.
2/9/24 Jesus, today in the Gospel, was performing miracles. He healed a deaf and mute man and restored his hearing and his speech. Jesus was more humble than most of us are. He basically saved a man’s life, and we can’t even be humble about winning a game. It really puts into perspective that He lived on Earth, and He was a much better person than any of us. We are supposed to live by his example, but we don’t we aren’t humble, we enjoy bragging and letting everyone know the good things we do. Jesus says that when you pray, don’t go out and tell the world. We are supposed to pray in secret. Don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. We need to live more like Jesus.
Pray: Divine Mercy Chaplet, Reading the Bible daily
Fast: Candy and Flavored Milk
Give: Go out of my way to talk to people who are
by themselves
Jesus healed the blind man. He wanted the people who witnessed this to not say a thing but the people did it anyways. they spread the word that Jesus was Christ and He was HERE.
I think this scripture is saying that God can do all things if we just believe and that anything can happen in the will of God. For lent im going to pray one decade a day and give up candy, im going to try and smile more because i know just a smile can make someones day.
Pray: Every morning and night a little bit more than usual
Fast: no pop
Give: Give some time to my family each day to help them go about their daily life easier
