Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God
for the promise of life in Christ Jesus,
to Timothy, my dear child:
grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father
and Christ Jesus our Lord.

I am grateful to God,
whom I worship with a clear conscience as my ancestors did,
as I remember you constantly in my prayers, night and day.

For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame
the gift of God that you have through the imposition of my hands.
For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice
but rather of power and love and self-control.
So do not be ashamed of your testimony to our Lord,
nor of me, a prisoner for his sake;
but bear your share of hardship for the Gospel
with the strength that comes from God.

He saved us and called us to a holy life,
not according to our works
but according to his own design
and the grace bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before time began,
but now made manifest
through the appearance of our savior Christ Jesus,
who destroyed death and brought life and immortality
to light through the Gospel,
for which I was appointed preacher and Apostle and teacher.
On this account I am suffering these things;
but I am not ashamed,
for I know him in whom I have believed
and am confident that he is able to guard
what has been entrusted to me until that day. 2 Tim 1:1-3, 6-12

Today, Paul lays his hands on Timothy to, “remind you to stir into flame the gift of God that you have”. This proves that even in the earliest Church the laying on of hands as an obligation to do something was practiced. The obligation was to be ordained to God, to give up Timothy’s life for the glory of God as our priests do today. Paul also reminds us that each of us have a gift from God to share with the world and glorify Him. Next, Paul tells Timothy that, “God did not give us a Spirit of cowardice but rather of power, love, and self-control”. Our spiritual powers are intellect, memory, and will. We have a lot of power to choose to destroy or build up. God is ultimately in control, but He is love and love likes to serve and suffer. We must not abuse our powers but as Paul reminds us use them to love and practice self-control. Last, Paul lays down for Timothy the identity of a Christian life by follow Jesus and glorifying God. ”He saved us and called us to a holy life, not according to our works but according to his own design and the grace bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before time began,
but now made manifest through the appearance of our savior Christ Jesus, who destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel, for which I was appointed preacher and Apostle and teacher.” Every human being created was saved and called to a holy life. Receiving God’s grace through the sacraments and allowing ourselves to be transformed, we must go into our homes, schools, work place and communities to share this Good News to all. We have immortal souls that live forever in eternity. Jesus resurrected and gave us new life. A beautiful new life. We must use the powers God has given us to choose our eternal home with each decision each day. He is full of love and mercy waiting for us to choose Him and come to Him in eternal peace, our final home.

Today’s challenge: Recognize your identity as a follower of Christ. You are called to live a holy life according to his own design. You have spiritual powers, use them. Don’t be lazy and helpless, recognize that you were made for greatness and live!!!!

Be a servant, become a saint!
