Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with Jesus,
seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him.
He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said,
“Why does this generation seek a sign?
Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.”
Then he left them, got into the boat again,
and went off to the other shore. MK 8:11-13

Today, the Pharisees tried to test Jesus by asking Him for a sign to back up His claims of being the Messiah. This frustrates Jesus since He has been so plain and clear. He has preached openly in the synagogue speaking the Truth in being the One who has come to fulfill the Scriptures, He has made the blind see and the deaf hear, He has cast out demons, He has raised people from the dead fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy about the Messiah. So, Jesus rightfully, “sighs from the depth of His Spirit” and tells the Pharisees and us, “Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.”

Today, many students ask me why God does not come to us today and speak to us like He did in the Old Testament. Jesus is not dead, He rose from the dead and is fully alive. The Eucharist is alive! It is a living person, not a dead object! Every Word that we must know to be saved is in the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit is guiding the Church as we speak. Salvation has been granted; God’s plan has been revealed, there is no more need for signs and wonders. Look around! Where is God present? Where has He left Himself behind until He returns? The Scriptures, in ordained priests, in the Sacraments-literally in the Eucharist (we often miss the significance of this), nature, prayer, “Wherever two or three are gathered in my name I am in their midst”, and the one we miss the most-inside of us if we are baptized with the water and the Spirit.

It is absolutely necessary for us to take time and pray early each morning before we start our day to remember who God is and who we are. God gives us perspective, peace, His Word, and hope right inside of us and in the Scriptures. Those who need a sign have allowed the deception of the Devil to veil their minds from the Truths that are sitting right in their laps. God is always near, always loving, always forgiving, always giving you signs if you listen to your heart.  Listen to those trusted people He put in your life and look with God’s eyes instead of human eyes.

Today’s challenge: Read the Scriptures, sit in silence, and start believing in God with great faith which does not require signs but trust.
