Prayer Prompt before reading MT 25:1-13 Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.
“THEREFORE, STAY AWAKE, FOR YOU KNOW NEITHER THE DAY NOR THE HOUR.” MT 25:1-13
Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.
Today, Jesus warns us of the Second Coming of Christ, the Parousia. It can also be looked at as the end of our earthly life, a time we will be judged. Jesus teaches us to be prepared. The number one thing that business owners want from employees today is to show up every day on time and work hard. To be prepared for something, we need to train ourselves. Once we have trained ourselves it becomes habit.
Jesus has given us all we need to be prepared. In contrast, what I have experienced in my life is no matter how prepared we are, Jesus just wants our heart. He gave His up for ours. It depends on whether we respond or not. Love requires a response. He wants us to be vulnerable like He was on the cross for us, stripped naked, open arms, heart pouring forth, I thirst. He thirsts for our hearts and souls. I find the hardest decision I have ever made is to be all in for God or do I really believe. I’m still working on it. This is where judgment becomes real. In that very decision.
First, what do we need to know to become vulnerable and give ourselves up. Jesus became Man, died for our sins, and rose from the dead. He restored our relationship with the Father. He became the new Adam and reversed what Adam had failed at, trusting in God. The Father has been longing for our friendship since the Fall. In doing so, He gave us baptism and the rest of the sacraments that give us the grace we need for the journey. We are called to be holy and have the means to do it through God’s grace.
We have an intellect and free will to come to know God, serve Him, and then return to Him. We have the ability to fight Satan and grow in holiness. We can come to Jesus in the Eucharist every day. We can adore Him in the Blessed Sacrament. His mother, Mary, is tirelessly working to bring souls to Jesus’s most Sacred Heart. She is the mediatrix of grace.
We can come to her in a daily rosary and ask her to bring us closer to her Son’s Heart, be vulnerable. When we fall in sin and separate ourselves from God by our own free choice, Jesus is waiting for us in confession. Confession is hard. This is where we strip ourselves of our ego and face reality. I chose me over You and others. I was selfish.
The second thing Jesus teaches us to be prepared for Judgment day is to love. We are not to keep this great gift to ourselves, but share it like God did with us. We are called to forgive others as God forgives us. Enter each room and ask how we can help. Go outside of our comfort zone and help those on the fringes of society in our communities. Jesus teaches us to be generous like God is with us. We are called to be missionaries in our own homes.
We can get caught worshiping God by reading our Bibles, saying our rosary, or kneeling before a crucifix to thank Jesus in our homes. We can put our screens down and enter any room to help others. We can become poor in some area of our life and sacrifice what we want for the good of another or to repay God and thank Him for all He has done for us, especially giving us life. None of it matters if others don’t see Christ in us because we became vulnerable and gave everything up for Him. We live to die-IHM Sister
Use the gift of time God has given us to love God and others. Let us take this opportunity to prepare ourselves for the Second Coming by going to Mass, extra prayer, and offering up a fast or sacrifice. You could make yourself poor in some area of your life. There are many other ways to be poor, but most importantly follow the advice of Luke 21:36 “Be vigilant at all times and pray, that you may have the strength to stand before the Son of Man.”
After you have combated an area of your life that is leading you away from God, you will be strengthened for the journey. It takes a strong mind and will, but most importantly it takes a person willing to be stripped of everything and ask Jesus for help. His grace together with our will overcomes sin. The rewards are eternal. How close do you want to get to Christ? How holy is too holy? This is our time and our place to be a saint and be Christ for those around us. Be not afraid, become a saint! It’s what we were made for!

The part that stuck out to me was that the 5 wise virgins did not share with the 5 foolish virgins because we are supposed to share with everyone even people we dont like
This teaches us about always being ready for Jesus to return. The oil represents your faith and relationship with God, which is something you cannot borrow from anyone else at the last second. Jesus’ main point is that since no one knows the exact time he will return, you need to live a good life and be ready right now.
Great insight! I like the part about not being able to borrow anyone else’s faith.
We should stay focused on our heavenly journey and not lose track of our faith. We need to keep our lamps bright for God and not fall away from him. It can be easy to stray away but we need to be like the wise in todays Gospel.
In todays Gospel Jesus tells us we need to be prepared. We have to be prepared to see the Lord before its too late. Forgive and love each other for we don’t when the Lord will come and judge us.
“you know neither the day nor the hour.”, we don’t know when the second coming will be so we must always be ready.
What I took from this Gospel is that we cannot turn away from God. If we do then we will go to hell. Also be always ready because you never know when your time to leave earth is.
In todays gospel, there was a parable that had 10 virgins who had lamps, 5 had no extra fuel and 5 had extra fuel. Then, the bridegroom came out and the 5 foolish ones had asked the 5 wise ones for their oil, they rejected the answer. The 5 wise entered and the 5 foolish were locked out. Jesus wants us to know that the time is unknown and that we should be prepared for when the time will come to us.
The difference between the wise and foolish virgins come down to the extra oil. The difference between the wise and the foolish virgins comes down to the extra flasks of oil. In our spiritual journey, the oil represents our interior life, our personal relationship with Christ, nourished daily through prayer.
In the Gospel the smart ones brought oil and the foolish ones didn’t bring oil for their lamps. The foolish didn’t get to go to the wedding feast. we need to be like the smart ones and be prepared.
The part of this Gospel that stuck out to me was when it said “‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps. The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’” This meant to me that when The Second Coming happens we will not know when it is and when it does we must not be like the foolish virgins, but instead like the wise virgins and be ready.
What i got out this gospel is that 6 wise men came to the door of the lord, but 3 of them were not wise and didn´t bring more fuel. but the wise one did and when the wise people said to go and buy some. so the non wise people went but when they left the doors were open.
what this means for me is that you have to be prepard for what will go on like the wise people.
In today’s gospel Jesus says “Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” We must always be ready for God to come because we don’t know when he will. That means we can’t just start being holy when we he will be coming. We have to always be prepared and act holy.

“‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’
Therefore, stay awake,
for you know neither the day nor the hour.” I think this quote is saying that the time in heaven is endless and that you don’t know the day or the time.
What stood out to me was this ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’ But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” What I think it means is it means that you will not know when God will come
“Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’ While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him.” We must always be ready because we never know the time or day the Lord will come. If we are foolish and forget to prepare, we will not enter into the kingdom of Heaven with him.
“Stay awake,” we have to always be ready for the second coming. If we fall away from the church and Jesus comes, you better be praying hard
In today’s Gospel when the foolish asked the wise for oil, the wise said no. They said no cause they wanted to use the rest of the oil for themselves. But we should always help others in need, even if it is our last bit of supplies. So no matter what, always help people when they ask, or even don’t ask sometimes.
In today’s Gospel Jesus said “Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” To me I feel like that mean is that we should always be ready for the kingdom of heaven. We should love and trust God since we never know when He shall return. We also never know when we will die.

What I took away from today’s Gospel was that you should always stay true to the Catholic faith because once you die you can’t necessarily fix all of your mistakes there and all the mistakes you made will reflect, go to confession and Mass, live out the Catholic faith at Jesus wanted us to, for you never know the day or the hour of your own passing. It could be today, next week, next year, or 80 years from now. Have a blessed day, God Bless!
Today the Gospel talks about ten men. 5 of them are wise and bring oil for the lanterns. The other 5 don’t bring oil for their lanterns. The wise ones are able to meet the bridegrooms, while the other 5 aren’t. We can be like both of these sides of men. We can be wise and bring our faith and devoted life to Heaven, or we don’t and get locked out of Heaven, so we can’t meet Jesus and God and all the saints.
I yearn to be the bridegroom who brings extra oil, but I don’t think I am yet.
Jesus became man, died for our sins, and came back to life. He wants us to be ready for judgement day and spread love with the gifts we have. God gave us these gifts not just for us, but to share with others.
In today’s gospel it talked about the 5 foolish ones. It reminded me of St. Augustine because her kid was a foolish one.
This Gospel most reminds me of the Stay Awake, Be Ready Song. We must only assume that God will come in glory today, tomorrow, or any day. We are forming what we know and Believe but we must have faith in God always. He is merciful and just, so we love him and trust in his decisions, we have no fear.

We have to wait patiently for the Father and grow closer to God.
We need to follow what God says they need to listen and be repectful all of us need todo this. sometimes we act like we are not good or being respectful but we need to rember to be respectful.
Today in the Gospel we learned that we must fill our lanterns with God’s love or we will be left in the dark. If we try to fill our lanterns with things other than God our lanterns will burn out and we will be lost, stuck in an endless cycle of feeling filled only for a short amount of time before needing to add more, almost like a drug.
I think this Parable was meaning to say something a long the lines of stay prepared and be wise about your decisions cause they will benefit you?
Today’s Gospel is telling us to always be wise and do the right thing and always be the better person.
He became the new Adam and reversed what Adam had failed at, trusting in God. This means that God had become are new father. So he can guide us to heaven. And tell us what is right and wrong. Plus he wants all of us to be saints so we can be with him forever.
“The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them”. This stook out to me because it made me think of how some people don’t believe that God is with us ( foolish ) and the wise are people that do. They are prepared for Jesus to come back.
In today’s Gospel Jesus is telling a parable and is saying how we should always be ready for the second coming for we do not know the hour or the day but only that it is coming . So we should be wise like the five women and forgive others and show them kindness.

The Gospel talks about how there were those who were prepared and brought oil and those that were not. The ones with oil said for the foolish ones to go buy their own oil, therefore, they were not ready for the wedding.
I think in today’ gospel what god is trying to say is he gives you the candle already so you can bring that to the feast (heaven) but those who are smart bring all their oil (good deeds from life, like saying they have oil if they were good and loved god and treated others with respect and love). the foolish ones (sinners) brought the lamp but no oil (they have sinned and did not turn to god when they needed to so they cannot enter into the kingdom of heaven). so the Jesus has to kick them out because no matter how much he loves us like how our parents love us there are still punishments no matter what and if what you did was against Jesus like our parents he has to punish us except he does this for eternity because he gave you a whole lifetime to change how you acted and come back to him. so as it says he locks the door and leaves the rest of the women outside for the wild animals (demons) to come and get them.
You have the wise people bring oil with your lamps don’t be the foolish one didn’t bring oil with them. The foolish ones had to go buy oil for their lamps so they didn’t get in the wedding.
What I got from the gospel was that our fire represents our relationship with god. If our fire is going out or is weak so is our relationship with God. So when we get to heaven And our fire is weak he will not know us and we wont be welcome to the kingdom of God.
Therefore, stay awake,
for you know neither the day nor the hour.” I feel like this is a sign to stay spiritually awake for the coming of Jesus. It’s a warning sign for us not to be foolish.
I feel like what this gospel is saying is that the virgins without the extra lamp oil are the ones who sin, don’t say prayers, who run away from him, and don’t go to Heaven prepared. But the virgins with extra oil are the ones who go to church, pray for others, and are selfless on earth so they go to Heaven ready to be accepted into the arms of the father. So in a way this is like saying you always have to be prepared for Jesus’s second coming.
What stuck out to me was sharing our love. Love is a great gift that God gave to us to share with the world. We should share our love with everyone. When we share our love to others we will start to receive that same love and be happier.
