Prayer Prompt before reading LK 10:1-12

Come, Holy Spirit, teach me how to pray well, interpret the Scriptures for me so that I may know the Truth about who God the Father is and God the Son so that I may know who I am.

“ASK THE MASTER OF THE HARVEST TO SEND OUT LABORERS FOR THE HARVEST.” LK 10:1-12

Humbly submit your will to God (thy will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary and Joseph.

Today, Jesus is asking us to pray for our Pope, bishops, priests, religious brothers and sisters, and catechists (don’t forget this includes parents the first educator of God to children).  He is asking us to ask God (the master of the harvest) to send laborers for the harvest.  If we do not have priests, we cannot get to heaven, plain and simple.  We cannot be baptized to have our original sin taken away, we cannot receive the Catholic ER (Eucharist and Reconciliation) when we fail to keep the commandments.

We cannot be consecrated in our vocations of priesthood and marriage or given our last rites before death.  We are so blessed in our diocese of Wichita with many vocations, but we can always have more.  Many dioceses are suffering in the U.S. and priests are few with many pilgrims to serve.  These men and women “carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals” and stay faithful to Christ their whole life.  What a great model of love for us!  Some spend their whole life in a convent or monastery praying for us! Amazing!

Jesus is also teaching us that some will accept His message and some will not, but we must not become disheartened.  Keep living and teaching Jesus, it brings persecution and joy, the reward is eternal life!

Today’s challenge: Pray for our Pope, bishop, priests, seminarians, and religious! Pray for parents, the first educators of their children in the faith!

Be a servant, become a saint!
