Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.
Jesus said to the Pharisees:
“There was a rich man who dressed in purple garments and fine linen
and dined sumptuously each day.
And lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores,
who would gladly have eaten his fill of the scraps
that fell from the rich man’s table.
Dogs even used to come and lick his sores.
When the poor man died,
he was carried away by angels to the bosom of Abraham.
The rich man also died and was buried,
and from the netherworld, where he was in torment,
he raised his eyes and saw Abraham far off
and Lazarus at his side.
And he cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me.
Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue,
for I am suffering torment in these flames.’
Abraham replied, ‘My child,
remember that you received what was good during your lifetime
while Lazarus likewise received what was bad;
but now he is comforted here, whereas you are tormented.
Moreover, between us and you a great chasm is established
to prevent anyone from crossing
who might wish to go from our side to yours
or from your side to ours.’
He said, ‘Then I beg you, father, send him
to my father’s house,
for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them,
lest they too come to this place of torment.’
But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets.
Let them listen to them.’
He said, ‘Oh no, father Abraham,
but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’
Then Abraham said,
‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets,
neither will they be persuaded
if someone should rise from the dead.’” LK 16:19-31
Jesus teaches us today what happens if we don’t bring the Gospel to people. We have one shot to get this right (#Christian YOLO). We are living in the end times, the times after Jesus’ resurrection. ”If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.” We have the Word of God in the Bible, God’s breath, to teach us how to gain salvation (God’s will for us:He has one great desire, that you and I are with Him in heaven, our salvation-Pope Francis) and lead others to Christ. We have the Holy Spirit to guide us and lead us to virtue. Today’s Gospel teaches us there are no second chances when it comes to eternal life. The time we have here is a gift. It is time to start rearranging our priorities and live putting our full trust in God. Lent is a great time to rearrange priorities and dust away the cobwebs of a hardened heart. It is a time to love our soul more than our body. We cannot take THINGS, power, money, pleasure or honor (4 things we must despise that we think will make us happy-St. Thomas Aquinas). All we can take is the times we were unselfish and put others before self, the times we loved as Jesus loves us.
Today’s challenge: Live like today is your last day on earth. What would you do differently? Most regrets on death beds are not loving as much as they should have; love of spouse, love of parents, love of children, or spending more time with God and family. Put down your electronics and spend time loving God and family. There are no second chances after we die.
Be a servant, become a saint!
#Christian YOLO
We can not have two masters. We are either completely comitted to Christ, or not at all.
we don want to be a lukewarm catholic
#praise him
We are called to help anyone around us that needs it. Jesus helped anyone he saw in need and we are called to follow in his footsteps and do the same.
In today’s reading it shows that we should be thankful for what we have because if we overuse or take for granted we draw farther away from God. May the one who have nothing get up and follow Jesus. He is the way of life, the True. show him that you love him and worship him by praying to him. That is all he asks of you, give your self up to Jesus this Lent.
I think God is trying to tell me that no matter if your rich or poor you still need to worship God and be kind to others.
If we don’t submit our will to God, we will not get to Heaven. We need to work hard to get to Heaven.
Today´s gospel I think is telling me how to treat people the best I can. I don´t know when I am going to die so I should treat everyone with kindness before it is too late.
Jesus is telling me to spread the Gospel not only to those I know but to the less fortunate and those who need help.
Jesus is telling me today that I have only one chance to get to heaven. When I get the opportunity I need to help others. That is how I will get to heaven.
I learned that we should always give to the poor. It is a Beatitude blessed are the poor in spirit.
To me this is saying that you should always be kind and be willing to help others in need.
We should care for everybody and not worry about material possessions because you do not take your possessions to heaven or hell, so we should be kind to everybody no matter who it is.
This gospel reading is very straight and the point. if we don’t give to others who need our help. for those who have nothing it is easier to get to heaven. for those with riches it is hard.
this passage teaches me to give myself to God and give all that I have
Jesus is trying to tell me to go and spread the Gospel. He is saying that I need to be His and do what he needs me to do To spread Kindness and the Gospel.
Today is telling us that we need to repent and listen to God because He will lead us to eternal happiness unlike anyone else only God can provide true happiness.
I learned that you need to spread the word of God. You need to help others in need and to pray to the Lord. You need to listen to the word of God and spread the word. You don’t need to be greedy. You need to be selfless
Treat people how you wanted to be treated.
I learned that we need to live our life to the best and not make dumb choices.
I learn from this parable that I need to be generous. It is not bad to have things as long as you use them correctly. If all you do is stay in your house with all your wealth and not share then you are to selfish. In another place in the Gospel we hear that a man comes up to Jesus and asks what else does he have to do to get to Heaven. Jesus asks if he has followed all the commandments and beatitudes. He replies yes and then Jesus tells him to give up all that he has. He reacts how I would probably react. He was shocked and heartbroken because he had so much. We need to learn as children of God that we need to give what we have to others in order to get to Heaven. Be selfless not selfish.
Even though Lazarus was a had sours all over his body God loved him so much he healed him and that is amazing because he will do anything for any body and no one will notice.
We must be faithful to God and follow Him. If we don’t repent, we could be in Hell for eternity, so be ready to go to Heaven!
Make your life great and prove to God you are worth going to Heaven. When you die, there is nothing you can do for yourself so while you are on Earth, make it last.
We must worship God above all things not anything else. God sees everything we do good or bad.
This is telling me that I need to be thankful for what I have and not be selfish. I need to recognize that when we die we will have nothing and that’s okay. We will be with God in Heaven.
It reminds me to help the poor and not to just let them die.
The Holy Spirit is here to guide us and show us the way to heaven through the Gospel but we also must spread the Gospel so that others can understand Jesus´ love too
This Scripture Passage I think is tying to tell us that we need to hep anyone that is in need of help, no matter what they look like, act like, or their past. Like the rich man we are like that in some ways to, we need to be more helpful towards people.
WE need to accept what we have and reaize it and share it with others and not be slefish with the things we have because in the end only jesus matters
No matter rich or poor, we should worship God and be kind to others. We shouldn’t take the things we get on Earth for granted, and not thank God for them. We should thanks God for everything, and worship him whenever.
We need to be greatful for what we have because we only have one life and it should be holy.
We are told to be humble and help others. It says there is no second chances after you die which is true so we need to show our family members we love them now instead being ignorant and saying, I play with my brother later I still have the rest of my life. But you don´t know how long the rest of your life or your family´s life either. Your Dad could die in a car crash on his way to work early in the morning and the last thing you said to him before he died was leave me alone I don´t want to go to your dumb golf course with you I playing fortnite. you would feel so guilty that your last words to your farther was a rant about dumb video games. That is why you must take charge and live your life with your family, not with your controller.
Today, I think Jesus is telling me that happiness is in giving and not receiving. We must be generous to be holy and to get to Heaven just like how Jesus was generous in everything. Don’t just give to those who will return the favor, but be a steward, and show your love by being generous to those in need.
It is interesting that the rich man didn’t do anything wrong, but did no good for others and was sent to hell for that. It shows us that we need to give what we have to those in need of it for that will help us get to heaven.
We need to put GOD In the center of our lives!
We cant believe in more than one GOD we either are fully comitted to the ONE LORD JESUS CHRIST or we are not. Though we have the free will to choose to do so. Although we need to know what to do and If we do the right thing we have a chance to get to heaven.
We need to believe in the one God our father but we have the free will to choose so and if we do choose to follow the one God then we have a chance to get to heaven and be with God forever.
That we need to be helpful to everyone! 🙂
Jesus says that the people who are already in hell do not get a second chance.
We are ether committed to God or we are not committed to God.
In Today’s Scripture, I believe God is trying to teach us, not matter where we come from, rich, poor, (or ethnicity) We all have the same ability to follow God’s Teachings and we must do.
I feel God is telling me to go for it
God says we are either with him or against him.
I think God is trying to tell me that the stick you measure others with, that same stick would be measured unto you.
The scripture today is telling me that we must help others who both deserve and doesn’t deserve it. We only have one god, Jesus. We must follow in His footsteps.
Today Jesus tells us as Abraham, that if we will not give our belongings and material idems to the poor, if we will not bow down to God in this lifetime, but instead live a life of luxury and sin, we will be tormented in hell.
I think this means that no matter how bad of a person we are, if we go to confession God will always love and forgive us.
I think that this tells us that we should be thankful for what we have and love others always. It doesn’t matter if they are rich or poor, we should love everyone as God loved us. We also need to remember to not use electronics as much and spend time talking to family, friends, and God.
God will accept you for who you are. Always. No matter what we do in life, even though it may be the wrong thing to do He will still forgive us. WE need to learn this because some people are just doing horrible things that shouldn’t be happening. They need to bring Jesus in there and then eventually learn that God loves you no matter what!
We should not take God for granted and we should never forget about him.
We cannot have anything more than God if we have 2 or more things with himm we do not truly love God
Today Jesus tells us to give up our possesions in this life and we will go to heaven. Whereas if you live a life of luxary and sin, you will be tormented in hell.
we need to work on being like god so we can go to heaven
Jesus is telling me that we need to spread the Gospel. He i also saying that we only have one chance to get to heave and we need to do it right. By praying, worshiping him, not being selfish, and sharing our time, talents and, treasures.
Today i think that He is telling us to either be completely committed to Him or not at all because we give more love to our electronics than Our Savor .
Jesus taught be to be careful for what I do because it might come back it me. I also learned to be grateful for what I have because there will always be more in Heaven.
We only have one shot, one opportunity. We cannot no what the future lies for us we have to be ready for everything or anything God ha planned. We have to make good choices while we are alive so that way we may be welcomed into heaven.
This is telling me that I only get one chance to get to Heaven, so I should treat everyone with respect and kindness and do God’s will.
This passage tells me i need to fully commit to God and serve no other false gods because he died for our sins.
We can not have two masters. God loved Lazarus so much he healed him. This shows that God truly cares about us.
We can’t worship multiple things at once. We have to be committed to the one, true God. If we fall away from our beliefs, this will result in hell.
Why either have one true God or false gods and Jesus is our only master
We should follow in Jesus footsteps and help others when they need it.
We shouldn´t live a comfortable life and then do nothing for people who have less than us. We should also be open and listening to what God is telling us and what others are trying to tell us.
God is telling me to not get caught up in the worldly desires and not just think about me.
The rich man was so evil/mean that he was never named in the Bible and Lazarus being at the bosom of Abraham and being the lowest of the low was named because of how blessed he was to be in his position. The rich man never gave any scraps to Lazarus and when he got to hell he realized what he did was horrid. The rich man, however, had a change of heart, he wanted to warn his brothers so they wouldn’t be in hell with him and he called out to Abraham and asked him to send someone to warn them, but Abraham said that if they would not listen to Moses and the other prophets then they would not be persuaded if someone were to raise from the dead. This is the punch line of this passage. If the Jews listened to Moses and the prophets they would have realized what was happening and saved their Lord. However when Jesus was resurrected, no one believed them as Abraham said they wouldn’t. Abraham told us and the rich man that if we choose to not listen to the prophets given to us then why should we listen to someone who was risen from the dead? Why should we believe a man who could be so mentally ill to say that they have risen from the dead, even when they could have been risen from the dead by Christ. We should not only believe in God, Jesus and His resurrection but even in the prophets who were given to us before Jesus who showed us the way.
The is only one God, not two or more, you cannot be halfway in the physical and spiritual world.
i think God is telling me that it doesn’t matter whether you are rich or poor you still need to worship him
God is telling me to care about the people that are not as fortunate as me. He is also telling me that I should worship God not material things like money, electronics, and food.
God is saying that we must repent now, or we will suffer eternally in Hell.
We need to help people and live out the best version of ourselves to truly live as God as called us to. There are no second chances after death so we have to live as the best we can be while we are still living on Earth.
Jesus is telling me to give to the poor and help the sick and dying. Get to heaven and be a SAINT!
Even though we think we’re living a good life, we all need to look back and find out if what God wants us to do is different than what we’re doing in this life. Once again, going by what Mr. Goertz said, we don’t have any second chances after we die. We always need to ask God what He wants of us and how He wants us to do it.
Today, Jesus is telling us to follow him. To pick a side and not be on the fence. We have to follow him in all his words and make our actions be actions he would do. We need to forget about all of our worldly possessions and follow God so that one day we can get to Heaven.
God truly loves us. it pains him to see us in pain. when we do something wrong we just push ourselves away from God even further.
The things we own here on Earth will not be with us in heaven. We can offer our sufferings up to God as our purgatory on Earth so that we may be happy and free in heaven. We need to help those around us who are suffering and help them get to heaven so that we may have eternal life in heaven.
We are called to help everybody around us in need. Also that we can not take Earthly things into Heaven with us.
God is showing us what little we think of others. He is showing me that we must help others in need so that we may live eternally with God in Heaven. Also that we need to help our closet friends and family to make it to heaven with them
I think God is trying to tell us today that we should be good stewards of the church. We should not be just tything out of our extra money. We should tythe out of the money we have been saving up for to buy a TV or something that would bring us farther away from God.
The rich man wasn’t sent to hell for being rich, he was sent to hell for not sharing the gifts he was given. God gives us many gifts and we need to share the with others. We can help people from their suffering and bring them towards God. Then we will be rewarded with eternal life with God.
We need to follows God’s example or else we will not go to heaven
We should not be like other. We need to love Gd with all our hearts because he loves us.
What we do on this Earth matters. Our actions can determine the difference between heaven or hell. We should treat others the way we want to be treated. We must be ready at all times to enter heaven. We should be sure if we can get into heaven or not. If we can, then we need to change something in our life so that we can make it. God loves, so we must also love.
We always need to look back and reflect back on what we have done in the past months and make sure it involves Jesus. We need to drop all of the worldly items like phones and electronics and put God first in our lives.
God want to give us a chance to spread the gospel and get others to become a pure Christian of Christ. He wants us to make the faith matter to everyone who does believe and who doesn’t believe.
Jesus is telling me that I need to share my gifts with others in order to make it to Heaven. He is also telling me that I need to be prepared for His second coming.
Don’t be selfish and give to those who are less fortunate and you will live with God forever.
We don’t have any second chances to die. So, we should just be kind and honest to others. We don’t know when Christ is coming back. We have to act like everyday that this is the day of the second coming. We need to commit ourselves full to Him. Christ is always with us no matter what.
Christ is telling us to head what we do earth because we will get our do in heaven. Just because we didn’t get caught on earth doesn’t mean we won’t be punished. W have to make our own choices in life. When we struggle, we can go to prayer for guidance and help.
I think that God is saying to us that we need to give up what is a distraction from him and go follow him.
This tells that what we do here on earth, and how we treat other in this life matters a great deal. This also shows that suffering is rewarded in Heaven.
Jesus is telling us we need to follow him and we can not have two masters.WE have to give ourselves fully to him.
The Lord wants us to know that we should share our possessions with the poor and we shall be saved
We should be kind and help others. We need to find happiness in giving and not just receiving. Our reward is in Heaven.
I think God is trying to tell me that even if things are hard on Earth and we stay holy we will be rewarded in heaven with the Father. Those who have everything, but do not do the fathers will, will face hardships when theydie even though they had a great life on Earth.
We need to give our all to God and we can’t let our possessions control us. We need to be strong in our faith and not get caught up in our material things.
We need to help anyone who is in need of help. It is a small and easy task that we are able to do.
That you need to help the poor in order to get to heavan
We never know when the Second Coming is going to happen. We need to live everyday like our last. We need to do what we can while we are on earth to get to heaven, not regret it after we die like the rich man did.
Jesus is telling me that no matter if your rich or poor you can still help other people out in different ways and actions.
Repent and listen to God while we are alive on Earth and we shall see God.
Jesus is telling me to always give to the poor, and we need to help everyone around us who is in need.
We cannot humbly submit ourselves to God if we are more invested in something that is not him alone, so what we do on Earth is to only chance to make it into heaven. He must be our #1 in life we cannot live without him.
#praise him
I learned that if we do not completely put ourselves to do Christs will then we will not make it to Heaven. Also that we can not have more than one God, and if we do we will not make it to Heaven.
Dont put earthly things over Jesus.
This says that we should give what we have to those who don’t have enough in life so we can live with God eternally in Heaven.
Jesus is teaching us to serve others. If we sacrifice for others on earth, we will receive treasures in heaven.
What I think this is telling me is if your popular or not you have to pray to get to heaven.
We need to spend more time with God if we wan to go to Heaven. We need to be nicer to people and put others and God first, and think about ourselves less.
Jesus wants us to live everyday as if we are about to be judged. He wants us to be able to follow and obey Him, and not follow anything bad in our lives. We do not know the hour when the Lord is coming, so we must be prepared for Him to judge us at any moment of our lives.
We need to be selfless and not want others needs. Our reward is not on Earth, our rewards is in Heaven.
I think that this is telling us to be kind to everyone, because we only have one chance to get to heaven so we need to be wise in how we live.
Jesus is telling us that we need to make him the center of our lives and to not be selfish. Being selfish is the opposite of what God wants and will get us now where. We need to be selfless if we want to get to heaven.
Jesus is telling us today that no matter what race or if we’re not friends with that person we must do what God wants us to do and help The person even if they have done bad things to you
We only have one chance to make it to heaven and we need to work hard on earth not to mess it up
God is telling us that we need to be greatful for what we have and not take it for granted.
Be grateful for what you have. You may not have the things that other people with bigger wealth have but you should be happy with what you have.
God is telling us that we are with him or against him. He is also saying that he loves us and cares about us. He is telling us also that we need to help others and be kind to one another.
The rich man didn’t go to the netherworld because he was rich, it was in spite of it. He treated Lazarus horribly, Lazarus didn’t even get the scraps of food from the rich man’s table. He was cruel, that is why he went to the netherworld. Lazarus suffered during his life but was humble. Worldly things don’t help us get to Heaven, but if we use them for the benefit of others they can. If our only need is to have more possessions then we are on the wrong path. Riches do not keep us from heaven or hell, it’s the way we use them that does.
Jesus is trying to tell us that we only have one life on Earth. If we do what God wants us to do on Earth then he will reward us in heaven. But if we live like the rich man and only care about ourselves we will spend eternity being punished. This is a lesson to make sure we are always thoughtful of others.
In this parable it simply is teaching that if you follow the beatitudes and the Commandments, for what you inflict on others on earth will be inflected upon you in heaven, and what mercy you show on earth will be shown upon you in heaven.
Jesus is telling us to not take things for granted. The poor man was happy enough to eat the scraps off the ground and the leftovers that have been picked over, and died happy and went to heaven. When the rich man eat the great food and riches for granted. We need to not take everything for granted. Even if we are poor or rich it doesn’t matter.
We must always do Gods will and not our own. We need to be there for the people who need us most and put them first.
Today’s passage is do not put people or objects over Jesus, and we need to preach the gospel. We need to give ourselves completely and fully to God.
