Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

As Jesus and his disciples were proceeding
on their journey, someone said to him,
“I will follow you wherever you go.”
Jesus answered him,
“Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests,
but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.”
And to another he said, “Follow me.”
But he replied, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.”
But he answered him, “Let the dead bury their dead.
But you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.”
And another said, “I will follow you, Lord,
but first let me say farewell to my family at home.”
Jesus answered him, “No one who sets a hand to the plow
and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God.”  LK 9:57-62

Jesus teaches us today that proclaiming the Kingdom of God is more important than family and work duties.  God must come first.  Jesus teaches the “severity and unconditional nature of being a Christian disciple” (NAB Bible).  I try to change and grow in holiness in fits and starts, but real change has been difficult and taken great perseverance in my life.  Only God’s grace can help us to severely and unconditionally make God first in our lives and create real change.  We must be open to those graces and our hearts must truly be set on our heavenly home.  We must live with the end in mind and have a sense of urgency about our purpose and our goal of reaching heaven.  It doesn’t just happen because we wish it to.  If you don’t know where to start, I always find out the most when I am on my knees praying in front of the crucifix in silence.
“God knows you better than you know yourself.  God loves you more than you love yourself.  God wants you to know His will.”  -Fr. Mike Schmitz
God will make you happiest and most joyful.  It’s time to take Him serious and put Him first.

Today’s challenge: Open yourself up to God’s grace and love and try to make real change in your life overcoming the one sin that is taking you furthest away from Christ.  You may need to fast from an electronic device or forgive someone.

Be a servant, become a saint!
