Humbly submit your will to God and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Jesus said to his disciples:
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans,
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

“This is how you are to pray:

‘Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.’
“If you forgive others their transgressions,
your heavenly Father will forgive you.
But if you do not forgive others,
neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.” Mt. 6:7-15

“THE SUMMARY OF THE WHOLE GOSPEL” 2761 The Lord’s Prayer “is truly the summary of the whole gospel.”7 “Since the Lord . . . after handing over the practice of prayer, said elsewhere, ‘Ask and you will receive,’ and since everyone has petitions which are peculiar to his circumstances, the regular and appropriate prayer [the Lord’s Prayer] is said first, as the foundation of further desires.”8 I. AT THE CENTER OF THE SCRIPTURES 2762 After showing how the psalms are the principal food of Christian prayer and flow together in the petitions of the Our Father, St. Augustine concludes: Run through all the words of the holy prayers [in Scripture], and I do not think that you will find anything in them that is not contained and included in the Lord’s Prayer.9

In today’s Gospel, Jesus breaks down for his disciples and us how to pray. This is absolutely necessary for us to get to heaven and become a saint. It is not possible to get to heaven without praying. I love the conclusion by St. Augustine that says every prayer in all the Scriptures is found in the Our Father. As soon as I roll out of bed, I look at Jesus on the crucifix and start my day with the Our Father. The Our Father has all the necessary petitions in it that we need to start our day with the Lord.

Our Father…many of the saints stop here because One who is so far Superior to us allows us to call Him Father. God is truly amazing and loves us more than we love ourselves. He desires our salvation more than we do (St. Padre Pio).

who art in heaven hallowed be thy name…I kneel before you this day to worship adore, praise, glorify, and thank you, thank you for allowing me to call you Father, thank you for calling me son

thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven…I submit my will to you, give me the courage and strength to follow it, show me your will through my prayers and those you have put around me

give us this day our daily bread…thank you for taking care of our every need since our conception, physically, mentally, and spiritually, please continue to bless us with every need. God I trust in you.

and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us…God, please send me the graces to forgive as you forgive me, the grace not to judge or label, and please have mercy on my soul.

and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen

Three essential characteristics of sainthood: Prayer, Humbly submit to God, and Forgive

Today’s challenge: Say the Our Father every day and reflect on what it means before you day starts, forgive or your heavenly Father will not forgive you (we cannot become a saint without forgiveness and we must give to others)

“If you do not forgive, you are rejecting your own faith.” -Fr. Emil Kapaun
