Jesus says, “Amen, amen, I say to you no slave is greater than his master nor any messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you understand this, blessed are you if you do it.”

He goes on to say, “From now on I am telling you before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe I AM. Whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

This had to amaze the Apostles! Jesus has brought out all of the stops. All Jews were not allowed to say God’s name, they believed it was too holy of a name. I wish people today took more care to not say God’s name in vain. Jesus is saying He is God today. “I AM who I AM” is the name Moses receives on the mountain when he asks God for a name to give the Israelites.

A name is given to each one of us when we are born to set us apart from every other human. When we are confirmed, we take the name of a saint for God has sent us forth for a special mission by the anointing of holy oil on our forehead and we receive the Holy Spirit. God has anointed people with a special mission by anointing them and changing their name. Names are very important to God and today Jesus reveals who He is. Do you believe?
