Humbly submit your will to God (Thy Will be done) and consecrate yourself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through Mary.

Brothers and sisters:
In your struggle against sin
you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood.
You have also forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as children:
My son, do not disdain the discipline of the Lord
or lose heart when reproved by him;
for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines;
he scourges every son he acknowledges.

Endure your trials as “discipline”;
God treats you as his sons.
For what “son” is there whom his father does not discipline?
At the time, all discipline seems a cause not for joy but for pain,
yet later it brings the peaceful fruit of righteousness
to those who are trained by it.

So strengthen your drooping hands and your weak knees.
Make straight paths for your feet,
that what is lame may not be dislocated but healed.

Strive for peace with everyone,
and for that holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
See to it that no one be deprived of the grace of God,
that no bitter root spring up and cause trouble,
through which many may become defiled.  HEB 12:4-7, 11-15

Today, Paul teaches us about tough love, “for whom the Lord loves, he disciplines;” Endure your trials as “discipline”;”, and “For what “son” is there whom his father does not discipline?”  Discipline is part of life.  When we get lazy or we are sinning, God put our parents and teachers here to discipline us.  Discipline comes from Latin and means learner, knowledge, instruction.  We are disciplined so we can learn right from wrong.  We are disciplined to stay safe.  We are disciplined to be trained for holiness and enter heaven, “At the time, all discipline seems a cause not for joy but for pain, yet later it brings the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who are trained by it.”  If there is a “bitter root” in you or among you we must get rid of it, so that we are not defiled.  The devil puts “God wants to take away our fun” or “God is boring” in our minds.  God is trying to keep us safe and holy.  He puts the adults in our life to discipline us.  It is meant to train us so that you can be holy and pass it on to your children.

Today’s challenge: Accept discipline as being trained for holiness, pass it on to your children!  Discipline yourself in ways of holiness.  See your trials in life as God disciplining you.  Life is easier when you live a disciplined life.

Be a servant, become a saint!
